That's unfortunate >..<;;;

RIP, good sir.  You made a damn good cartoon with staying power.  That's a real achievement in entertainment for any animated/kids TV show.  Hope his family and friends will be okay.

His cartoon was one of the few that I'm still looking at today. ;_;

DAMN. We was hoping that by some miracle he would get through his ALS....

He put his heart and soul into everything he made, and though he's gone now, his legacy will live on. His family and friends should be proud of his achievements, cause making something with so much staying power says a lot of things.

I watched Spongebob since it first air, and some of my fondest memories involve that show.

R.I.P to a real one.

I had no idea he had ALS. That's a horrible way to go.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis... once diagnosed, you're done for no matter what you do. What a terrible way for that guy to go. They're still making new episodes of the series today. RIP

Best of all, it has a proper ending and no amount of new episodes all taking place before it will change it.

"Well this stinks" - Plankton.
Seriously, I understand what he dealt with is very much a nightmare, but I'm glad he stayed alive long enough to give us something awesome.
Spongebob may be long running but Hillenburg also did Rocko's Modern Life. At least now he's in a better place.

I didn't know this series, that isn't plot driven, had a proper ending. I'll have to check out the ending sometime ^..^

Spongebob is one of my favorite shows, and it's sad to see the creator pass away. He was diagnosed with ALS back in March 2017, it's good that he at least lasted so long.

Odds are you've already seen it, it was called The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.  All of the characters and plot points exclusive to that movie have not appeared or been referenced in the series proper, so it leads me to believe that it all ends there.
