 :D Wow looks great! good job, is the select screen going to be animated? also for some reason I can't view the select screen image, it seems to be under the same tag as the menu image  :( , also what does (And now) mean that's highlited in the menu screen, and the images of the different VS games doesn't look to good IMO , but good luck can't wait to try it out  ;)

hi of course this will be animated and whit the original sounds and music remember that this must be the most closer to the original game and with the limitations of the mugen engine so here is the select screen (link fixed)

Nice !

A little problem though with your current system : when somebody plays as P2, the name of the character will be displayed upside down. You'll have to add another part in your portrait template, for P2's portrait.

 ;D hi ,thanks the time for finish is comming im fixing a few things here and there ..and for the lifebars yes i was thinking in re-rip them and doit a complete screenpack, the only madness is edit everything also for the mirrored names im doing a diagonal font so will not necesary to put the names in the template buuuut that is in testing phase so if works will be wonderfull for every char.
well thats for now and yes, ill do everything complete screenpack and lifebars (chars not include jajaj ;P) and a more"patches" for various numbers of slots

Also will u be doing any more screenpacks? Cause I can tell just what looking at it and what you've been posting, it takes great understanding of what your doing to make it look right.

One was made by KFM (accurate, only form 1), another one by Sludge (3 forms, custom gameplay)

You could use 2 font files, like how Dr4ch1r's does.  Also, make the portrait numbers something other than 9000,1.  In the select screen, you should scale the icons either 1,1 or .5,.5, otherwise they look pretty awkward.

That's gay, really.  We are always condemned to using 9000,0 as the portrait number.  There's no way around it, I looked in the system.def and found nothing.

 ;D hi, yes is the baddest thing on mugen maybe a new hack posibly fix that ,is just time and hope jajaja meanwhile we still use the 9000,0 and 9000,1 on select,because in fight is possible the change in the portrait but not in select either versus ,would be good if could put another in versus like 9000,2 but dream and wait for that has not cost jajaja like a dreamcast 2.
in other things im think in upload an early or first version of the motif or can wait a little bit for enjoy the entire pack what think

 :) hi ,everybody again the news are that by petitions of fans jajajaja ive modified the select screen for 80 , 129 and 384 chars they can be seen in the top of the page so if any other petitions speak now or forever silent jajaja no its a joke ,but if is any other petition tell me please to be a good launch for all tastes, if i can put more slot i try to do it.
because is true this is mugen and all be mugenized too ,like "the ultimate marvel vs capcom 2 and a half super ultra mugenized plus version with all chars"

Wow this MVC2 screen pack looks really promising, I like what you did with the main menu and character select screen using the titles from each of the versus games very slick they are looking sexy. :yes: :P May i suggest making it both Hi-Res and Low-Res because i mainly use XMugen(Xbox Mugen) for playing and Windows Mugen for creating and i probably speak for everyone when i say this, also if you need any sounds or songs from the game i have ripped all of them except characters I'm working on that that you can use. :buttrox: :sugoi:

 ;D hi,thanks reza that is a great help ,using the real sounds and edit some of them togheter to get most closer mvc2 ,the music  i ripped and edited all of the game in a day when i was bored from the dreamcast game just before start the project.
in fact the only thing that im searching for is the vortex backgorund of the versus screen is the only thing for finish completely well the motif,if any can help me with that this must be faster to finish if not meanwhile i will use the vortex for the similar screenpacks  :P  :D and yes im think in a lowres too for players ho still use dosmugen like me jajja

Alright, some feedback for now:

-Get rid of the second screen and use a similar title screen to RyouWin's.
-The "Select your heroes" avatar at the select screen seems out of whack, as it seems to be bouncing around.
-The Versus letters could've been MUCH better ripped, and you need to use the same VS theme, with the accompanying sounds.
- You need better fonts for the lifebars.  The main icons should be scaled 1,1 and the partner icons should be scaled at .5,.5, or close to this screencap:

-Make any animations as fluid as possible and not jumpy.

jajaja thanks yes i know the detail for animations in fact every frame is too hard to rip so these are the foundations for more fluidity in the animation
the versus is same ,only for putting well in its place jaja belive me that im doing a better versus jajaj
the lifebars are not mine so i could be a better ones
thanks for reply the select your heroes in fact could be used a second background animation (back to circle) and more images for fluid

Besides, it might support MvC2 styled 3 on 3 if you hack MUGEN to allow 3 characters in Simul mode and had 3 characters with the tag system implemented.

There's no stage 0 (or the training stage, if you will) in it.  Best thing to do is to just copy paste stage 0 into the stage folder.

hi everyone ,the news, menu and options screen improved better edited,fixed the select your heroes animation,and addeded an animation for team type(and quit the fonts in this menu), and thanks to kong and his help now finaly we have the original vortex background for versus screen. anyway im redone the versus logo,and etiting and mix sounds to more acurate on select and versus screen.
ALSO im prepared 3 versions of the screenpack
1.- For super computers with a LOT of ram whit fully animations (the vortex for example has 200 images) HR version
2.- For normal computers whit minus ram ,will have recorted animations without lose the escence itself HR version
3.- Same as number 2 but in Low or normal resolution for players that still used mugen for ms-dos (for win98,xmugen or mugen arcade cabinets owners)

AND if anyone wants or need other same as number 1 but in low resolution for the same purpose for number 3

new template for small portrait on select screen but only must be a image of 31x31 pixels for enter perfectly in the character boxes,this is the standandar on the mvc2 game in fact  ;P

gardeadvor ,you must be more look arround,there are many changes almost i redone everything,in fact a few things are inconcluded, look here are some changes:
the menu is totally customizable,you can put any image in the circles and the color is more gradient
added the option background menu
fixed the position of the select your hero
the sphere is more bigger,now is the real size
redone the big portrait background looks better
done the animated theta-team menu without the use of fonts
addeded mix sounds to select menu
new versus sound and background,look more close to original
added a custom slots patches for every mugen character (fixed the sizes and pos of the small/big portraits)
added a templateded slots patches for use only with the template itself

is a theta release,the next will be the sigma and final release for the screenpack itself in that it will be more animations and frames to the existent one and a renovaded versus logo ,after the sigma release ill concentrate on the fight part (the lifebars) so are many changes.

I don't like MVC2 but ... just an idea :

For the portraits of your select screen try to use the same method as my CVS2 SP (portraits in the SP so no edit chars)

Umm, unless people want to recreate MvC2 in MUGEN, it should never be considered.  Why?  Bias against everything but MvC2 characters.  I want a custom roster, not a pre-made roster.

i see the cvs2 screenpack and is a good conversion,but there has many disvintages,like the roster or the very huge images for the portraits ilusion,well im doing a personalizable motif not a replica conversion ,my job is mugenizer the mvc2 game the most closer possible and for the portraits well ready make two "patches" version for custom characters(all mugen chars) and templateded whit the use of template to modif the 9000,1 image for the chars.
i see the metod used on cvs2 and is almost the same,to add a new roster is obligatory edit and modif the sistem.sff and mmm is same thing  doit in the characters sff file dont you.

Looks good, but one thing you might want to know about typical software release stages...

First, alphas are released, then several betas. After that, the final/complete version is released.

So the order is: Alpha, beta, then final. No epsilons, gammas, kappas, or lambdas in there. What you are releasing is a beta.

Looks good, but one thing you might want to know about typical software release stages...

Let the creator call it as he/she sees fit.

in software is used the first letter (alpha) meaning a very poor version,the beta are improvements like a radical interface change,if not if are a little changes in code there still in alpha jajaja there is not an standar you can name your projet like you want like the popo version or the any number version.
in my case i not start in alpha or beta or gamma i make diferent things in every release and jump greek letters next will be lambda (letter used in half life) and next will be sigma (used in megaman x games)

Wow this is freaking sweet man. Everything looks awesome very close to the original and judging from the screen shots there isn't much color loss. I do have a suggestion though, can you add the Marvel and Capcom logos instead of the Elecbyte and MVC2 one's, just replace the MVC2 logo with Marvel and the Elecbyte with Capcom.

What's with the character name at top of the screen in the last screen shot. o_O

Hi there,

Good work on your MVC2, but i think its little out dated.

I love MVC myself and i made a MVC3 look-a-like game with EVERY character of MVC2 available, dark stalkers, Marvel, DC. Very cool.

Only problem is the limitation of Winmugen, so no tag team support.

Some of you might already know we are busy with an open source mugen engine ... so when the engine is finished, i am going to release it as Marvel DC vs Capcom (more like MVC3 but someone already released MVC3  but i think that screenpack messed up).

If your interested i can make a youtube video soon ... if the interest is huge, i need to find a way to share ... the game in total is high quality and around 1 GB.

Also note every character in the game has been edited by me to keep the original gameplay of Marvel VS Capcom style.

on the other hand the game is not out of date contrary you think there are a lot of followers throughout the world claiming the best crossover in history.
i see you do not have enought knowledge of the mugen engine you can implement a code in your characters to have tag team in simultaneous mode (2vs2) and you can share via rapidshare,megaupload,4share,gigasize or in piezes 1gb on rar,zip or 7zip scattered everywhere.

and for finish this jaja REZA i like the idea for the logos in the versus screen and yes i notified the name in the top jaja i thinking in reedited all the portraits for fix this or change the portrait scale for vs screen.

of course other surprised that im prepared the screenpack for all mugens call it dosmugen,winmugen,linmugen and hi mugen (lin and win are 100% compatibles so is practicaly the same since hi and dos are other each one)

So in other words... I don't see what the big deal is. Hell, the PSN and XBL versions have a different title screen anyways.

The screenpack has a resemblance to the dreamcast version equal than psn and xbl versions also they remake a "downloadable" one.
Capcom and Marvel only renove their contract for a downloadable popular demand version.

Mugen is free and their screenpacks too so the users can be confused for watch an "unauthorized for the contract" PC version

Marvel is another history they have half of the game rights ,ten years have passed in fact for a remake of the game so i only wait his response.

so that is the deal the free version vs bussines version if marvel (ten years after) say "no share" icant fight

What on Earth do you think Capcom and Marvel are going to do, hunt you down? As someone said, if either of them wanted to sue someone in the Mugen community, they would have done it a long ass time ago.

Can you at least re-post the link to the portrait template, for those of us that may have downloaded the older versions of the screenpack? I mean a template is hardly something someone to get all scared about putting online.

well just going to announce , i promissed new portraits and that is:

the double 56 portraits and the final template.
No more backward name and oversized image,those are just the thing would be.

You can use,edit,rename,host it, or whatever you want with them

well im back to action, really i want make the project for all but for the moment i want introduce you the Lambda version for the Mugen MvsC Screenpack ,it is an alternative for mugeniers.

the first images are on the first post

if you want to add or quit something just tell me, i just want make this version more "retro" to the old Cps games like but whit new age elements, like a remix.

What would have been if MvC2 had gone on a Cps arcade?

well i dont know,and i need fix more things like versus logo or the background in the main menu but

Now are two motifs, the normal and the classic look version.

Personaly i want one whit the old school vision, you know if MvC2 was a Compilation of copy/pasted character sprites,then how look the game in a classic format whit more good retro sprites.

Belive me it took me A LOT to make the first one to discard it like that,only i make an alternative to all.

belive me,dont be disappointed the images not reflect the real thing.

The full 320x240 version will be ONLY for normal Winmugen,Dosmugen and Linuxmugen users (plus xbox version); winmugen plus was dropped in favor to Mugen 1.

Of course are FULL animated and re-ripped, one thing, winmugen version is 4 times smaller than mugen 1 due obvious sizes.

Are still in development as you can see.

p.d. current motif size is 103 mb
pd2, current storyboards size are 83 mb
PD3. select and versus backgrounds are the most heavier part.

Those images are from march, i only want to make the ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 2 Mugen screenpack before Capcom anounce/release the third part.
Will be the last reference for the most amazing crossover game, so i need/want make it the most accurate Mugen version.
If have an arcade cabinet prepare it...

with the new release candidate number 8 of mugen 1 ,elecbyte make more customizable the portraits on the engine, so in the week ill update the new templates and the new characters images.

the new portrait order in MvC2 Mugen motif will be:

9000,0 small select portrait
9000,1 Big select for 1p
9000,2 Big select for 2p
9000,3 Versus portrait
9000,4 lifebar portrait

more motif updates soon.

Necrobump to this project and want to update this old topic.

After many years away from the mugen scene  I have time and desire to finish this project ;although not login at the forum, I have knowledge of the new engine and that will be very useful for this because the new video encoder and the ability to put 32bits images with transparences in the sff.
Also have noticed that the unfinished screenpack released before has been used in packaged projects , although by this time mvc2 it might not be as interesting as before it's a fun game and even seems there are many veterans throwing new releases.

ok, ok lets see the new for the old
I was finally able to get the yellowed versus screen vortex, also many other missed things; with that in mind  expect a screenpack better than before but still attached to the original game , of course with mugen restrictions.



Haha funny fact:
This is the third restart from scratch since the project started it, that´s why I have delayed too long and has bored me over the years.

I really not have much to show because the motif was nearly complete since 2011 but there are some shots.
all the backgrounds has been edited so now is much smaller in size and the intro now is shorter (the intro will be the last thing to finish) 



All the previous screenpack versions are merged in one with new improvements.
This weekend i have planned release one for all tipe of characters not so accurate.

***fun fact:  there are some edits of this screenpack that claim to be "complete" or packaged in full games, but much remains to be done.

Hi, this is a preview for the current 640x480 Mugen 1.0 version.



the intro is shorter than original game adding the marvel logo and made the motif itself more size lighter for practicity.
Menu and select music was changed, Select and versus screens are slighty different as a mugenized version.

Mostly for full games purpose emulating the original number of characters.


in few days will be released, i only have to add a few touches.

After all finally there is an adapted intro for the screenpack/game , Was the last thing that i want to make, but is better having it now.

The characters portraits pass slow because the músic is twice as long because is a fan game after all and more can be added in the roster, but for now is todo fullfil time spaces.

Lifebars are just placeholders, i will make it more interactive.

Seeing redhot and ikeislegend fullgame projects ,that inspires me too to create a fullgame based on mvc2 ,not only an "acurate" screenpack but also the most accurate MUGEN game for play on PC .

Congrats the HD version looks awesome, the lifebar you can just reorganize to the screen center like was made by capcom.

@Mazemerald In the MUGEN archive there is an old versión of this screenpack edited by you that has your author name and a vídeo attached to it too.
Add in both (video and post) descriptions that link to this tread and a link to my web page for people to take the original releases and updates.

The warehoused version you saw is a mashup of the previous public beta and unfinished releases, one user took it all, edited the archives and text files and released it claiming as his own.

Then was used to make compilation games who were shared encrypted and monetized without mentioning anything about this forum topic or the original author for the Mugen adaptation.

When I saw all that, I took the decision to make the new updated versions private until I am totally convinced that it would be ready and complete to be shared again.

I hope you understand, I will release it but until all versions are finished and there is no specific time for that.

OK I apologize for necro-posting dunno if this is still being worked on hope it is. Is there anyway on the main menu when you are highlighting the different menu options that the picture could change like a deck of cards from wolverine to other characters giving the feel of motion. sorry for my pompous suggestions which I feel I am known for just want to see what coding and visuals people are capable of to push Mugen to the limit. I love the work as it is so don't think I don't appreciate the work thus far it looks awesome. Keep up the good work.

Ok, after a very long long long hiatus from this project i was finally able to do a major update in the motif regardless the original vision for having 3 vs 3 battles just like the original source game.

The updates are related to character detection code which bring me bright and open possibilities such the mentioned versus screen, the display for customizable lifebars and a future build for the game tag code.

The mugen version is still in development more as a challenge to view how far i can accomplish this project and just to know how far i can develop the experience.

For now i need to learn how i can link the character lifes with the custom lifebars, other than that is just a matter of code the tag mode.





From the screenpack or motif point of view i think is time to make big jump, i can move the game to ikemen now to fully complete the game experience and that is the plan, with all the characteristics the engine offers, with more customization than mugen in a more affordable way.
