Title: Roa
Post by: Rajaa Retired on June 04, 2011, 08:38:08 pm
(http://www.justnopoint.com/RajaaBoy/ScreenShots/roascrn1.png)

Spoiler: More Screenshots Because (click to see content)

Released Roa. Updated all other characters. I can't do anything more than I've already done about his voice.

What's been updated:

- Vigormode has been updated and should be more interesting and useful, check it out.
- Spammable basics; varies depending on the character.
- Adjusted hitsparks and supercharge effects; should function better.
- New hitsounds and stuff.
- Further standardized power gain and hitpauses.

Yes. Yes! YES! Fianlly I can download him. And it seems he still can set his traps. Going to download this right now.

Also, did you use the new spark on him?

It's sffv2, so I don't think you'll be able to do palettes until FF3 comes out, unless you know how to use the tools Elecbyte provided. =p

Of course, everything he does is from the source. Velocities and frame times are accurate unless needed to be improvised for the different levels. If by "the new spark" you mean my latest hitsparks, then yes, I have used those with him. One of the screenshots even displays one. =p

- Sound quality of "QCB,P" special is kind of bad. It's when you set the trap, that seems low quality.

- Also, about the attack above, I'm surprised you can't combo this attack after hitting someone with it with a normal attack.

- The same for "QCB,K". Shouldn't I be able to at least hit the opponent after they're hit with this attack? Also, the sound used for the charging is weird, not really good.

- Can you mention the advantages of the move above, depending on how much it is charged? I mean, in source games charging it to 6 and with the one that goes one by one made the attack impossible to recover if it hit. What did you do in the one you did?

- Readme corrections:
> Thunder Cloud is "QCF,P". You put it as "QCF,K".
> Lightning Storm is "QCB*2+P". You put it as "QCF*B+P".
> Lightning Barrage is "QCB*2+K". You put it as "QCF*B+K".

It's really good. I was waiting for your Roa. It goes to my roster, no doubt about it.

Motherfucker. >:(
You fucking ding dong.

- Sound quality of "QCB,P" special is kind of bad. It's when you set the trap, that seems low quality.
I can't do anything about those sound rips, I've tried.

- Also, about the attack above, I'm surprised you can't combo this attack after hitting someone with it with a normal attack.
You just can't, but it's possible. <_<

- The same for "QCB,K". Shouldn't I be able to at least hit the opponent after they're hit with this attack? Also, the sound used for the charging is weird, not really good.
The charging sound is the sound from the source. I think it fits perfectly. About juggling, some specials should be able to juggle, but no basics. It can do level 2 damage and lock on to the target, I don't think easy basic juggling is even a question at that point. =p

- Can you mention the advantages of the move above, depending on how much it is charged? I mean, in source games charging it to 6 and with the one that goes one by one made the attack impossible to recover if it hit. What did you do in the one you did?
People can figure it out by using the move. I don't think I need to spell out everything.

- Readme corrections:
> Thunder Cloud is "QCF,P". You put it as "QCF,K".
> Lightning Storm is "QCB*2+P". You put it as "QCF*B+P".
> Lightning Barrage is "QCB*2+K". You put it as "QCF*B+K".
Thank you. I will correct those typos.

It's really good. I was waiting for your Roa. It goes to my roster, no doubt about it.
Thank you for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoy Roa. :)

Not really. I even made sure to send my opponent to the air as high as possible with this attack by using two and three, and all normal attacks go through him. See, here's a screenshot to prove it, your attack doesn't allow comboing into this, for example:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

Rising Shock (your "DPM+P") seems to be the only one possible to combo with it, but I was expecting myself to be able to hit them normally, without the need to use that attack (other specials don't work).
Title: Re: Roa
Post by: Rajaa Retired on June 04, 2011, 10:59:16 pm
You mean juggling, not comboing the opponent. And nope, you can't do that with many of his attacks. Only some. Figure it out.

so did you implemented your new style to all of your characters?

Yup, I did. A long time ago.  :(

I see. Well, I already know what works with this attack, so there's no problem with this. I also forgot this isn't supposed to follow MB gameplay, so I need to get used to this (as Roa was one of my mains in the source game).

As for sounds, have you tried Roa by 9? Maybe you can use the sounds he used if they have better quality.

I like the gameplay very much, although I never played the characters actual predecessor, it feels solid and the AI itself is not too insane or too easy. Compliments to you, Rajaa.

Roa's sounds in 9 are pretty much shot, too, I just checked them. Like I said, the sounds from the PS2 version of MBAA are shitty.

No, I'm not, I just released a character and linked to RajaaBoy's site that coincidentally has the same character from this topic with one of the same screenshots. And The front page of RajaaBoy's site links to this thread after saying, "Released Roa" because he wants to be like me.

He's being re-uploaded with the mentioned fixes throughout my release threads. Wait 15 minutes, as he's still on the upload queue.

Readme corrections. Vigormode: Air chaining removable because it's not worth it. And I adjusted his victory quotes so they're not Arcueid's, anymore (I completely forgot to change them before). I also fixed the legs on the second frame of his running sprites, they were too long.

If you get a bad .rar file for any character around the time of this post, just wait a couple of minutes or so, then try again.

Mr. Ass, first of all I must thank you for this release. Now you can concentrate on Rogue with full force.

I also have one question about Roa. The air lightning traps. They all spawn in the same place, same range, same damage.

Was it like that in source? I mean I can't find a use for it. They all do the same wether I use lp, mp or hp.

It would be nice to atleast do different damage values.

Let me answer that for you.

First thing, you're wrong about them spawning in the same place. There are three versions: Close, Mid, Far. Use the attack without moving to see this. Also, in traps what counts is the position where they are set, so that's why they do the same damage in the three versions. In source it was the same. With the traps, you can have easy field control, regardless if the opponent is close or not. You're probably going to use the Mid and Far distance more than Close, but since you can just move after putting them, all of them work.

In source it worked the same way. There were awesome combos with the traps that you could easily do. Of course they're not possible with this one, but experiment with it.

I'm doing it as we speak and they still spawn in the same place in front of Roa.

May I remind that I'm talking about the AIR version of the QCB+P traps.
Title: Re: Roa
Post by: Rajaa Retired on June 05, 2011, 07:45:35 pm
The air versions are like that in the source, too. They are traps, the different buttons don't represent the power levels, they represent the traps. One trap for each button, one button activates one trap. Different damage values would not make any sense. Use your head.

Now you can concentrate on Rogue with full force.
LMAO!

Ahhh! Yeah, air versions will always appear in the same place. That was the same in source (they also did the same damage in source). Sorry about the confusion.

i downloaded all of your chars and they are great :sugoi: :sugoi: :sugoi:
i have only one question: is it possible to remove vigor mode?
i just dont like playing in ''super-modes''dont like the flashy blinking --;...or is there any option to play always in vigor mode without the vigor bar and pallette change and blinking..so that it is ''standard roa'' just always in vigor mode?

greatest release since dragonclaw and  vergil :sugoi:

That only disables vigormode chaining. If you don't want to use vigormode, just delete the changestate from the command or just don't use it.

It's not the fact you like his work that annoys him (obviously), but the way you write with a lot of smileys, it looks like a little kid jumping everywhere.
Also, for this type of questions, you should ask them in the Mugen configuration or development help boards, as they're made for that.
Title: Re: Roa
Post by: argyone on June 11, 2011, 01:52:55 am
yeah i really do like smileys ;D
btw im 20 years old and i use them just to underline what i say because i never know if
the people understand  what i mean in my little broken english :-\
(you cant make a sarcasm joke without smileys when you have trouble with the language)

i would have asked in help section but then i thought: he why dont ask the creator himself?
because im very bad at coding and i didnt know actually how he codes his chars i didnt know if i had to remove complex things in cns data's and so on.. so sry about that..next time i will ask in help section
on the other hand i just wanted to thank Rajaa for this great release and thought:
he why dont combine these two things..

so apologizing once more and lets get back to topic :)

heh i don't use smiley and english isn't my 1st or 2nd language but they understand me if i'm being sarcastic, like

great job argyone you're really mature for a 20 year old on not ruining this thread and not making it into a mugen drama, again great job.

I'm not famous, and I'm not unfriendly to n00bs; I'm unfriendly to people who don't know what they're talking about when they were told exactly what to do.

i said your char is great and i really love your work...then i asked you a simple question and didnt get the answer immediately...so im annoying you..ok sry about that...
You're annoying me because you came in here saying you love my characters while comparing them to other authors' characters, and you want to remove something from the character that I put a decent amount of work in. Plus, on on top of that, even when I decided to help you dissemble my character, you didn't follow my very clear directions. I wonder why you're annoying me. The smileys and textual asthma just adds on to the annoyance factor.

im german and english is not very hard for me to understand  since i have it in school but to write in a foreign language in a forum is something different..
i hope you dont get this wrong but i noticed that serveral times now in this forum and it really pisses me off :(
Learn better English because this is a English forum. Your lack of understanding English is no one's fault but your own, so you must be "really pissed off" at yourself.

hey guys, some people don't know the "what to do' and the "what not to do" on a forum..the dude is obviously enjoying the creation and yes,he might be very enthusiastic about it but still, he probably doesn't know as much as many of you do about mugen stuff in this forum...

on-topic: Rajaa, did you have any further plans about the lvl3 super animations or is it the final version? i haven't played the source game much, so i dont know if it's the actual sprites from the game...but since there are some colorloss being witnessed, i was just wondering! still amazing work though

Just popping in to say I really enjoy your versions of characters (your Dhalshim is the only one I can use in Mugen now) and with Roa as one of my favorite characters to play, this is very exciting for me, and testing begins... as soon as this post goes through.

Props for making your Melty Blood characters interesting and divergent enough to include in a roster alongside the "true to game" MB characters without stepping on each others' toes gameplaywise.
