Hefty investment in the sense that the unit mentioned alone costs $350 USD; either you have a lot of disposable cash to toss at making sure you can get the best video quality out of your retro systems, or you have some degree of video editing in mind using the original hardware rather than emulation.

Honestly, things like the Retron 5 and similar emulation based systems are only worth considering on the off chance you really don't have ways to access the original systems for the full sized consoles or want a way to play handheld system carts on your television and don't have the special adapters for those systems like the GC's Game Boy player, SNES Super Game Boy, etc.

Honestly been looking at things like the XRGB-Mini Framemeister Scaler unit for some of the systems I have here, but it's a hefty investment for just that unit, not to mention that earlier Nintendo systems need some modding to make full use out of it.

The sad part is that I've seen Super Mario RPG go for considerably higher for just the cart; closer to 70-80 range. By that note, it's actually a decent purchase.

The NES/Famicom game library really does have a lot of gems in there, although it is worth noting that as one of the more popular systems to get titles for the games have jumped in price over the past few years especially. It also doesn't help that it is harder to find games and the system out in the wild now for cheap; I used to be able to find a few here and there and clean them up for use/giving away, but that's hardly the case anymore.

On the off chance you go into Sega territory later, the Genesis/Mega Drive library is still pretty cheap by comparison and easier to get complete titles for as long as you aren't aiming for certain notoriously priced games like MUSHA, Alien Soldier, etc.

Continuing the fine tradition of "Show us cool video game stuff you just bought", some stuff picked up when visiting a game shop that reopened plus one thing I got in the mail after getting back from the shop. Still have a copy of Vampire Savior in transit out there.

Updated gif with cape tweak, as I forgot to adjust it in redundant frames before upload. Over the top aura in stance seems to be there to compensate for minimal animation in actual stance by comparison. Would suggest aura be somewhat subtle when not flaring out due to attack usage.

Yeah, the aura is probably not a great idea to have all the time.

Yes I am replying to myself here, but I think anyone would agree this is a relevant update to the above; Would suggest doing cape animation on its own layer, as well as his aura for that matter.

Realistically, animation timing is likely not final; would even suggest adding in an extra frame somewhere, although not sure where yet. Might also be fixed up once the cape animation gets included and things would be differently spaced out anyways.

May be due to preliminary nature of animation as it stands, but linework seems to bounce around a lot. Muscle definition, visual markers like tie knot moving around moreso than expected during frames where no real movement for those parts taking place. While some muscle expansion and contraction is to be expected, the tendons and muscles move oddly in some frames. Including a version with some parts of the upper torso tweaked for more stable movement and to match certain parts of eFex's original take which seems to have been referenced.

Would that be the same full game section that hasn't seen a new post in over 3 months, which is also the same period of time since the last time he posted?

I do have the six Mega Man am trying to get the five games that were released for the Game Boy but with all the payments that the back to school caused just named my wallet The Onion cause I see it and I cry

Unless you really want the English versions of the Game Boy titles, I'd actually suggest looking for the import ones for a much cheaper buy. I got my set that way for 50-60 tops, which is usually the asking price for just MMIV or MMV on their own.

Starting from the top, Dragon Warrior, Double Dragon 3, Contra, Darkman and Casino Kid. Honestly, I could only recommend Contra for the most part, and maybe Double Dragon 3 as the best version of that entry in the series for what it is worth. Would more strongly recommend things like Rockman aka Mega Man series, Twin Cobra and Twin Eagle for SHMUP titles, Batman NES, etc.

Head and feet do seem to be in a different scale/width than the rest of the body. Assuming you haven't already gone overly far with other line work using this current width, might I suggest taking the animation into something like Graphicsgale where you can stretch out the frames without aliasing issues and paste back in the head and feet from the current version? You will need to clean up some double width lines, but that shouldn't take too long I'd think.

Was it Rex? My memory's a bit foggy on the matter. I seem to be having some trouble locating those files regardless, but I recall the pink edges now that you mention it. As for the hat, no it's not the Carmen Sandiego hat. Also, you can have hoods, masks AND hats! It's the disguise for the disguise you see.

- Whatever happened to 'Ray'? Never heard about it again after you said something about waiting for rendering of the other side or something along those lines.
- Speaking of projects, weren't we talking about a Blue Demon Ramon at some point? I recall there being a few things, which oddly enough included a MB Iori for some reason.
- Have you seen my hat? I can't find the blasted thing anywhere. I think Iced is somehow responsible.

Some of the miscellaneous video game goods I've picked up as of late. Beat up NES cart in the middle is actually Contra; which I can't complain too much about since it was only five bucks. Anyone got a lead on affordable Final Fight Revenge I could get my hands on? Hah!

Cannot say I've ever seen anything quite like that either; don't suppose you could tell us which version of the program you are using, if obtained through the official site, etc?

Remember ladies and gentlemen, super secret ninjas are best ninjas. Thanks again to Eli for rigging up both stage and theme for the original well-known hidden character with difficult fighting conditions, Klassic Reptile!

[Edit] Okay, just got a message from SF2NES team; it would appear this was -not- actually the character I was supposed to be prepping for today's reveal this whole time. Probably should have mentioned something before I asked Eli to do all that extra work... Excuse me as I hastily create the graphics necessary for the proper reveal!

Currently working on some items for said reveal; safe to say new entry is out of this world.

In fact, not sure they even hail from this realm at all, now that I think about it...
