Title: Richter Belmont
Post by: xxxx on October 09, 2017, 01:31:34 am
kamekaze comissioned me this character a while ago, and I think its time to announce it
most of the sprite sheet is done in the grey scale method so far all is lacking are the specials and the supers, so I'll be doing streams to show off his progress

for now I'm just gonna show off rough sketches of animations that already been finished, I do this so we don't get a nasty surprise from a certain someone

fuck yeah dude, Richter was always the raddest belmont IMO. Seems like we're finally getting a great castlevania character for MUGEN.

Yeah this one has been on the hush hush for a long time. You'll find out gameplay details when the time comes. Until then just know that a lot of love went into his eventual moveset as I usually do when it comes to respecting source material.

not only that I'm sure there's gonna be a Simon, Trevor, Leon, Juste, Nathan Graves, Julius Belmont color palletes too. He's also gonna be a good CS opportunity for the spriter who is willing to CS him.

I remember when I first signed into this site I mentioned making Belmont a character and posted a crappy Rock edit lol. This is the character I've been waiting for. I'm sure you're going to use whip as a base for movements as well. The only other Belmont was made by Zox whom I helped with coding his projectiles. So much nostalgia. I can't wait to see some gameplay.

From Kamekaze by balmsold with love.  :muttrox:  :nuttrox: Cant believe this, but I might actually cry, now. Richter, from Castlevania Dracula X.  I'm crying now.  :mcbuttrox:

Balmsold, this is by far your greatest creation of sprites.

A little late for Richter to arrive for this ancient Mugen era. Great work, both of you.  :muttrox:

Will you be using the original voice clips or getting a new voice for Richter? That and do you plan on incorporating any Alucard/Maria/various enemies from SOTN in Win Poses or intros?
Title: Re: Richter Belmont
Post by: Kamekaze on October 29, 2017, 12:15:36 pm
Hopefully I won't need to use a new voice because I love sotn. As for cameos. Depends on if I get charged extra for that lol

I can see Richter doing alot of cool things. however I hope all is faithful to his moveset in Symphony. @Kamekaze are you looking for ideas for winquotes? I have a few.

Richter Winquote ideas.

"Did you really believe you could defeat a Belmont?"

"My will is far stronger than yours. It has to be."

"Compared to the Count your powers are no trouble."

"Do not challenge the might of the Belmont family again."

"My strength comes from my value in humanity. That is why you lost."

"Dracula aims to destroy us all. Join forces with me and we'll take him down."

No "DIE monster!" quote? -smh-

Yo, I'm just seeing this, I really need to pay more attention to what's going on. Man, I understand the notion of wanting to keep things to yourself, but I totally would have went half on you with this commission. No questions asked, and no strings attached. Anyway, I look forward to what's to come. I gotta ask though; Hydro Storm and Grand(Holy) Cross will be supers right...? Right...?!
Title: Re: Richter Belmont

I didn't think they needed to be mentioned seeing as this is Richter and most of us know Kamekaze will most likely add them.

Well bare in mind hes going to be a 3 button+character specific trait button character. I'd like to keep him that way but it's mugen so people are probably going to reinterpret him how they choose and that's just the way it goes. The reason I kept it to myself as well as the price I paid for it is because it was something I was on the fence about for almost 2 years. It wasn't until I started my career that I was able to pay for quality work lol. Ultimately I hope people will enjoy him as he is before they decide to make their own at least. To prepare yourself for his general style see my other Faux-Anime works (C Falcon, Roa, Rouga, Ryoko,Tristan,Adler,Alcott,Edward and Belmont Trusdale), There is a reason why I've made so many in this style and it's pretty obvious.

And to answer your question Yes and sorta. When I actually start him I'll deliver all the deets you all desire. Until then enjoy the slow ride to the top of this roller coaster because once it goes in motion we're going for one hell of a ride.

whats left to do for richter's grey scale sprites are , run,run stop, jump whip attack, and the hypers, I should be done with all of these in 3-5 days more, that'd be around a 100 grey scale sprites which should be cake, be sure that we'll release richter somewhere around december hopefully, so I can continue to work on yamcha.

did you have a video out yet? I can't wait to see him in action. Also @Kamekaze is his whip attacks going to be slow on the startup? I imagine the range has to be enough to warrant a slower startup. Also with the angled attacks be a thing? the closest reference I can think of is Scorpion with his diagonal spear on the heavy punch spear command.

looks great so far dude. I can only imagine the possibilities for palletes. Ryu( Street Fighter), Trevor Belmont, Simon Belmont, Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3, maybe a vampire pallete called Undead Richter. Zombie Richter with a sprite swap for the cross making it a bone cross. There's so much potential for awesome here :D

I do hope you included his awesome backflip too.

here's what I got so far. I'm still working on other cosplay palletes but these are some I did based on characters from later games.

@Kamekaze if you want to use them but feel like some colors need to change you are free to change them. These are only ideas to work with.

damn I missed the stream..maybe next time I'll see it.

Guy Armando posted this in the CVS Sprite thread but what you could do is have Dracula here teleport in after Richter wins as if he manipulated Richter into fighting whoever he just defeated or something along those lines. Either that or you could have Richter try to hit him with the whip only to have him teleport away kinda like how M.Bison would teleport away when Akuma tries to chop him. This would be an intro. Just some ideas for ya.

And this one: "Castle crusher"

I can't wait to see what you cook up for Richter's theme Wizzy. You did an amazing job with Ermac so I can only imagine the greatness you'll put forth.

Also an idea for Richter's intro would be swinging from a bat-loop Super Castlevania IV style as an homage to Simon.

would that be a special or a normal? If it were a special you could always make the whip extend out more similar to how you can slightly extend the whip in the games. Either that or make the whip pull the opponent off their feet

I'm thinking it'd make a great counter or something seeing as the reach would be insane for a normal (Even though Dhalsim's normals have been crazy on range). Either way it's good to see Richter being prepped for  I imagine his whip dash acting similar to Captain America's Shield dash.

Looking good man. This is a project that I'm really looking forward to. It's honestly been years since I've been this interested in something like this. I know working on stuff like this can get daunting, though just keep pushing for the finish line. You and Kame got something special going on here for sure. Thanks for the inside peak to development and update. I look forward to more progress.

I'm glad you're still continuing with this project. Ever since his inclusion in Smash Ultimate, I've taken a liking to Richter. Hopefully you have enough motivation to continue with him.

I have more than enough motivation to finish him, its just that I'm also busy with 2 other paid game projects, but 3 months will be more than enough to finish most of whats left of him

In the lore Richter was the most powerful Belmont in the Bloodline. I'm not sure about Julius but Richter had the best moveset in the games when Symphony came to Playstation. In Portrait of Ruin you literally fight a memory of Richter for control of the Vampire Killer.

Actually Julius is storywise the most powerful Belmont

He's killed Dracula so hard he reincarnated instead of resurrecting, ending a 900 year struggle

And he can turn intangible at will

But that's neither here nor there

My guy Speed knows his CV lore. Richter is definitely the most popular, and at one point it was speculated he was the most powerful. Though that was long ago and that was only due to Richter having the "item crash" ability in his respective games. None of the other Belmonts had the ability at the time, but that was just more of a gameplay progression thing. Not so much a Richter exclusive thing.

Yeah, Julius was the only Belmont capable of eradicating Dracula entirely. Thus, Soma was brought into the fray. Richter having the best moveset is pretty subjective as well. He does have the iconic moves like the slide kick, tackle, uppercut, and aforementioned item crash ability(i.e. Hydro Storm/Grand Cross). Julius has good abilities himself. Only Julius and Simon can whip in all 8 directions, Julius has the Akuma like teleport, can use his whip to swing around, and can also slide and uppercut. All the Belmonts are capable of item crashing now. So that doesn't hold much weight for Richter.

He was the first to do it though, in terms of games, so there's that I guess. Even so, Richter is very powerful, though not as skilled as other Belmonts like Julius and Simon. I'd say it safe to say that Richter is the 2nd strongest. Julius isn't very popular though... Mainly due to him never getting his own game.

Richter is looking great so far. I have one question in mind... are you planning on giving him his SSBU voice clips when they rip the sounds?

We need a Castlevania game starring Julius in his prime.

Basically, a prequel to Soma's games that go into further detail about the Demon Castle War because it wasn't fully fleshed out in the Aria/Dawn.

been studying for a very long while and trying to polish my anatomy, gesture as well as animation skills, and I gotta say, I'm kinda happy were I am...for now...
I'll try to update more often with the keyframes of my animations, some of them will be inspired by smash bros ultimate but with my own spin.

I'm back, just had to polish my skills overall.
I was feeling very anxious about my lack of knowledge on art and animation so I decided to take my time with my own projects and start online courses to become a better artist and a better creator, hope I didn't let anyone down during my time off and if I did I'm gonna  redeem myself starting today.
