Took some time, but no issues installing. Perhaps specific disk based issues?

Coding not particular scary, just involved a bit more referencing if anything. Also recall things like MCM being around fairly early for sff stuff, would not be till some time later that it got clsn related functions although anyone who tried that version knew how wonky that tended to be.

As the number of questions has dried up and this is my last day anyway, the time has come to pick the next person for the thread... someone who has much to answer for...

Or I can pick Caddie. That works too... how does the Notify User thing work in this blasted format? .\/.

What ever was of the plans to revive Mad Gear? Are you still offering Dental Plan for all new recruits? Why should I join the Mad Gear gang, and not other gangs?

Mayor Haggar happened, on multiple occasions. I think he just wanders the Earth, piledriving people at this point and to the misfortune of any gangs he happens to come across. Funding just ran dry after a certain point, so things are postponed until a new source of revenue can be figured out. Sadly, repeated Kickstarter attempts all got taken down too. In hindsight, the matching costumes and general color schemes may have been our downfall in terms of how Haggar kept finding us. Huh.

Good company, good food and drink, and some degree of personal security in the long run. Also, revenge. Lots and lots of revenge.

Regarding Winmugen, was specifically referring to how the RouHei Winmugen leak ended up going public and not why the build stopped being worked on as a whole. I cannot even remember all the specifics at this point.

And what is your opinion on Lord Raptor's party shark, and should he have it as an assist?
The shark seems alright, but hard pressed to suggest as a reference as I don't think many would even remember this tv series. Was it even shown outside of North America?

If you were to make someone from Shaq Fu look good, who would it be?
I can only vaguely remember a mummy design of some sort aside from Shaq himself. Don't have a good answer for this.

- Is the Suave Dude project stopped/on hold? I read somewhere walt commissioned you to do those frames, but nothing else.
The initial Suave Dude frames were indeed commissioned; the initial bit was for sufficient frames for a punching bag, but I do intend to continue it myself. I've just been preoccupied by some other things for the past while.

- Do you have an original project in mind regarding sprites and/or codes (like creating original character for your own story)?
If you mean using Mugen as an engine, then not at this moment. Regarding somewhere else, I cannot answer that at this time; let's say the equivalent of an Non Disclosure Agreement applies here.

- If yes, is it something involving ninjas? :P
See previous answer. Sorry, really cannot say anything.

- Are you going to update your SFIV KFM? I'm seeing a lot of good animations in your dA gallery.
Those animations are open-source, but in case you were not aware, I wasn't the only one who made a SF4KFM; Kamekaze actually took that build and made a number of coding and gameplay style fixes, which made his take the more definitive version.

- How many languages can you speak? Which ones?
My primary language at this point is English. I used to be able to speak Spanish while I was younger, but I half-jokingly say if anyone asks that because of ESL classes back around when my family moved here, I picked up English so well that I basically forgot how to speak my original language. Still can understand most of it, but my own pronunciation is horrid.

- Who are your favourite spriters?
Kiwi's high on the list even though he doesn't seem to visibly do much anymore, Judas and Diepod do a lot of fun stuff still, Felo can do some nice stuff, Li Kun's sprites went to use with Morrigan although I can't make heads or tails as to where the final version of her sprites went around here...

-Why is everyone asking shitty questions unrelated to you?
In some cases, I figure just because they probably don't know much about who I am since I can't say I've been overly present in more recent times. In some others like Titiln, it's probably because I've known the person to some degree for such a long time it's hard to think of a more relevant question they don't already know the answer to. Hah.

-I don't know why, but I remember you from the old Dev Days as one really ruthless admin, having no mercy with people making mistakes. Do you think that still stands today? You think you became softer with the passing years? (of course not the admin part, you are not an admin anymore)
The short answer is I've probably mellowed out a lot since back then. Also, odds are a lot of the more ruthless things mentioned are probably just attributed to me rather than things I actually did myself. I was probably the most visible administrator at the time, which didn't help matters.

Did you see pictures of Jennifer Lawrence's roast beef lips?
I actually just had to look up who that was on Google. I believe that should answer your question. I suppose this sort of thing seems appropriate considering that one of the questions just before this one asked why all the crappy questions! Begs a good question though in return; just what was going through the mind of the person who first made this comparison between genitalia and foodstuff? Was this from the mind of someone who was hungry both figuratively and literally? Perhaps.

What's the best DIY way to get dents out of the hood of my car?
Not my area of expertise, but I'd have to assume trying to hammer it back out using a series of lighter strikes and a hammer/mallet that has a rounded face to it as to not put hard edges onto the surface you want to fix. If you could have something on the other side that had a surface to brace against, might help I suppose.

Would u punch your mother as hard as you can in the face for $1000?
No out of principle for one, and second that's not even a lot of money.

- WOULD YOU METAL GEAR REX PLEASE?
Metal Gear?!

I did find some psd files related to it the other day. The anti aliasing and gradients the person used on this thing hurts my soul.

Why you gotta be tugging on people's eyebrows like that? That would be painful, sir!

There's also an age gap to consider, but at least at this time based on photos I had to look up as quite frankly I can't say I knew who either were off the top of my head, it appears that Connelly's brows have aged better at this point in time while Shields' have thinned out a bit over the years around the edges.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if that Worbla stuff would be used as a lighter weight alternative material to handle some of the larger aspects of the costume. The shoulder pads on the original were absolutely huge and in the board I was using at the time added a significant amount of weight. If that's the case, maybe I could even use it to some degree for the Soul Calibur IV era Soul Edge I still have the drawn out blueprints for...

explain the origin of this ninja gimmick?
The original story is that the first suit was made as part of a really elaborate birthday gift presentation; a few of us got together to get a mutual friend a gift which included a ps3, a copy of the first Twilight film on Blu Ray as a gag, and a copy of MK9. Her birthday fell on the weekend of a fairly large local convention which we all attended, so I thought it would be funny to appear as a classic MK ninja, and I found fabric appropriate to Reptile's costume first. Come the actual day of her birthday, she's greeted on site by Reptile, who hands over a decorative gift box that has what looks to be the Twilight film. Laughs it off as she has no blu ray player... point her to look deeper, where she finds out the box has a false bottom; MK9 appears. Now she thinks I'm really pulling her leg, as she still doesn't have a ps3 either... to point out there's yet another false bottom with a note saying to watch a video.

In the foreground of the video is her brother giving a birthday message around their apartment building. In the background, a ninja dropping off the ps3 in plain sight. Only then did she realize I had been effectively pulling a fast one on her for at least a whole month, getting all the information I needed to make the whole plan work and even getting her family involved. Good times. After that, I sort of decided to try and finish the rest of the ninja color set for costume stuff for fun, and it ballooned to what I have now.

Is it true that ninjas can't catch you if you're on fire?
It's not so much that we can't catch you as we don't find it necessary; funny thing is that most things cannot survive being on fire for extended periods of time. Why bother wasting the effort either trying to grab an idiot on fire or douse them to avoid burns when you can just wait and let them die by burning? Save the fire retarding stuff for when you are on fire yourself. Using ninja gear willy nilly will only result in tragedy like fire tornadoes, sharknados, and WWE film productions.

What, you didn't see that every 3rd word in the last response was actually ninja? Remember, it's not the ninjas you can see that should worry you, it's the other ninjas they are distracting you from that should terrify you.

What are some important things to remember when spriting
Well, the Coles Note version of that based on my opinion right now is as follows:
  • You want to make sure you figure out your scaling, style and color usage from the start. The more you have to go back and change things, the less likely you'll see things to their conclusion.
  • Make sure you have some way to look back and see the progress you are making with your work. It's actually pretty hard to keep motivated when you have hundreds of frames to work on, so having some positive feedback to keep pushing you forward is needed.
  • If you can compare the work you are about to do to something that already exists, do so! You'd don't always need to reinvent the wheel with every animation you do!
  • A cluster of 2-4 pink pixels does not a nipple make... I don't care if I wrote that on my website already, it still applies!

In your opinion, how are ninjas capable of throwing fireballs?
Without going into too much detail as that would void the NDA that ninjas have to abide by, there may or may not be a greater realm of power that ninjas and a few other beings have learned how to tap into. The only exception I think I can safely get away with naming is Terry Crews; you think the Old Spice commercials are edited in post production? No, that stuff was live. There's no other way to explain the many twists and turns of his career and just how talented the guy really is otherwise.

Who was the best Mario: Lou Albano, Walker Boone, Bob Hoskins, Charles Martinet, or Ron J-hahaha nope?
Charles Martinet, no contest. He's also the best Luigi, even if that Luigi has difficulty identifying if an animal is or is not a cow and cannot say the word Banana.

Wonder Woman is at the front door. Batgirl is at the back door. Which door do you go to?
If they are there to stop a nefarious plot I am attempting to enact, I'll take my chances with Batgirl. Better chance of surviving, not to mention winning.

If you and James Rolfe collaborated on a video together, what game would you play?
Are we talking Rolfe as himself or the Nerd? Rolfe is a fairly interesting fellow and seems like he would be good to work with, but I honestly don't think there'd be much to work with regarding the Nerd persona at this point, which honestly started to feel forced for some time now although the juggling between episodes and where the movie was starting may have had something to do with that. As for a game, it would likely be something in the classic Shinobi family of titles, before the ps2 games. Joe Musashi is a must.

1S TROLL B1LLY K4N3 ST1LL 4 TH1NG
Troll Billy will never stop being a thing. It technically belonged on the list of things I plan on seeing to completion no matter what, but I didn't want to mention it aloud as I don't recall if you ever publicly mentioned I was the person working on sprites for it.

Just got back from both work and a mail run, so let's pick up where I left off:

Sid, Billy, Poison or Roxy?
Sid and Billy are nonentities. Go uncensored originals!

Favorite Final Fight stage/level?
From the first game, the factory/elevator platform stage. This answer should surprise no one.

What was the funniest episode/moment in mugen history?
I have trouble recalling anything in particular, but I recall some of the stuff around the ezboard days being at least somewhat worth a laugh.

Which character would you consider the best overall mugen creation and why?
The best in terms of all characters made as a whole, or within my own personal stuff? If the former, I cannot even begin to think of an answer for that as there is just so much stuff I haven't had the chance to try out yet. I actually barely use the engine myself these days outside of specific projects of my own for testing, some beta testing when someone asks for it and SF2NES related work.

Have you ever meet anyone else from the mugen community? If so, who was he/she? If not, who would you like to meet someday?
In terms of people I've met, the one user I hang out with in person the most is Shockdingo, as it turned out I actually went to university with his sister. The funny story about that is that we had spoken briefly before that, but neither knew the other person had an account here until I vaguely mentioned a plan involving delivering a birthday gift while dressed up as Reptile (the gift included a copy of MK9 for reference) that he realized the plan sounded exactly like I had described over the phone with him earlier and we put the two and two together. Any time where I'm doing some event based work and have a cameraman present, it's actually him joining me for the ride. I've also met Mr. I in person, as it turned out we both frequented one of the retro gaming shops in the GTA core.

As for people I'd like to meet, there's actually been several failed attempts over the years for Beatrice to come up to Canada during one of the various convention events around here due to work reasons for one. It would also be swell if I could eventually run into you and Walter at some point, I still have to carry out a promise to set Caddie on fire, I'd be interested in finding out if [e] and Iced are really as insane as they sound most of the time, I've now got to track down Vans and kill him for his Framemeister, and in addition to getting a long overdue package his way, JZ and I have an understanding that should something befall him I get dibs on his skull to chrome plate the thing and make it into a shoulder pad befitting a post-apocalypse. This is just the list of people I can think of off the top of my head right now.

Why is Rain so awesome?
If you mean Purple Rain, it's because he went from being yet another gag ninja character that could roundhouse kick someone around the world to a slightly more rounded character design that could still roundhouse kick someone around the world. Unfortunately for him, that still leaves him as one of the weaker ninja designs in the game though, but that's because the others have iconic status at this point.

Is Cage the best character in MK? Besides the personality, those cracked nuts must get him up there.
I honestly think the staying power of Johnny was a fluke, considering it was basically an afterthought of how to include a Van Damme character without having him on the project anymore. Just as a funny aside, the actor for Johnny in the original titles also did the ninja roles for those games, which technically means Daniel Pesina was the original 'Many Ninjas' of sorts. Also worth noting is that the original ninja suit color was Scorpion yellow, which may also explain why he's Ed Boon's favorite and the logo for Netherrealm Studios now.

Samurai Shodown's or World Heroes' Hanzo?
Samurai Shodown Hanzo. No contest.

Why is my english this shitty?
Well, maybe you should stop trying to have drinking contests with Walter and use that time to get some more English practice in!

Antz or A Bug's Life?
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. I don't care if it's not an animated film, it's still a better film than both of those half-baked cgi fests put together!

How many ninjas does it takes to kill the Batman?
It's not the number of ninjas, but the quality of ninja in this case. As the Batman's back story has him effectively trained as a ninja himself, you'd need an equally skilled if not more skilled ninja to get the job done.

why is mai the best ninja ?
I'm not even sure Mai is the best Mai. I think we can do better than this. She's basically devolved to a set of boob jobs and a running gag with Andy, who himself is basically an afterthought as well at this point. All that series really pushes now is angsty teenagers. Bah!

why do you always avoid talking about viking ninjas ?
Because you can have vikings, or you can have ninjas. None of this Mary Sue Dual-Classing nonsense!

if you'd marry a  fictional character, which character would it be and why ?
No answer for this. Never really thought about it.

Got to run off to the day job now, so be back for more later today.

I know that you seek to achieve greatness, but I am curious about what are your plans for the next 10 years to achieve said greatness. And what are your ambitions with this whole Many Ninja moniker? Aiming to become a successful entertainer?
Also, any family plans for the future?

Unfortunately it will likely be many years away still before I likely have the disposable capital to bankroll the idea, but there's been this one idea I've been kicking around since at least college/university about  getting together with a few people I know and can trust and setting up an multi-purpose artist space for working on a few different disciplines, audio and video work, etc. I'd also want at least some of that space to exist as a dedicated gallery, as I've always found the number within the GTA to be limited in nature and somewhat difficult to make arrangements with for showings. Aside from the obvious matters of funding, this idea also requires considerations of exactly who would be ideal to partner with, exactly what the facilities would require for certain artistic disciplines, and location to count a few.

As for the whole ManyNinjas thing? It all originally started as a very elaborate gag which since has sort of ballooned into something else entirely. If I wanted to really make it balloon into a successful entertainment venture, I have to go through with a handful of things: first, I need a proper set of costumes that are unique to the persona rather than being clearly based off trademarked materials like the MK ninjas. I also need to finally decide on a format for the Retro Ninja Gaming series of videos, which is something I am currently working on in the background. The last clear thing is improving production values with some better equipment, some much more refined scripting, and some help in terms of another person or two involved in the venture. I may be many ninjas, but right now I am most of the time a single production staff, and a distracted one at that.

Family plans isn't even on the radar right now.

Rolento.
Despite ninjas being cold hearted killers, why are you so kind hearted? Especially to people who wronged you?
Also, will you ever forgive me?

Here's the funny thing; while a short period of anger might help motivate to get some stuff done, long term grudges don't accomplish anything. It's literally an self imposed act of futility, only serving to burn you out as a person to no gain. This probably sounds obvious, but it sure as hell took me long enough to finally get it to sink in, and I've got the long term markings of a furrowed brow to prove it. Now that I think about it, isn't that something they use to describe Conan in at least one of the films? Maybe that's why I collect so much Conan and Red Sonya material. Hah!

You have long since been forgiven, although that will not change your fate of being chased down by a real life Fire Man from the Rockman series while his music is playing in the background.

Your favorite ninja that is not you and why?
Your most-hated ninja and why?

It's probably not a big surprise, but favorite probably has to fall to one of the original three MK ninjas. The overall design while simple was striking enough at the time to still leave a profound impact, and each one over time has gotten a pretty interesting backstory to them although I can't say I like the direction for Reptile come MK9 where he is more of a skilled but bumbling lackey. I'd also put the classic Ryu Hayabusa high on the list, as I really liked the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy; even still have a boxed copy of the first game around here. As for most hated, honestly can't think of one as that sort of thing never really crossed my mind before.

WHO ARE YOU BUD
I am not one but in fact several ninjas. I was also a former moderator/administrator of the Mugen Development Forum back when that still existed, technically an administrator on Guild for all of a few days tops, but these days I am mostly sticking to the artistic aspect of things with various pixel art based projects. Within more recent years, I began working on a series of gaming videos on YouTube, playing the role of a masked fellow who insists he is a ninja but rather than flipping out and killing people left and right seems content on playing classic retro video games.

When did the .V. started?
That had to have been back during the EzBoard Mugen Dev days; think of it as an extreme close up like you'd see in older martial arts films. I suppose I felt at the time that a more traditional >:( was not nearly angry enough. Just to cover all bases, I still recall that I argued with another user named Koga at the time about which of us actually really started it since he was the other person who used to use it quite a bit. Wonder what happened to that guy...

When you did your first KOF sprite?
I honestly cannot remember, although if I had to pick the earliest I could remember doing a lot of frames for, it would have to be for the MB Goenitz sprite set. The very first draft of the set was awful to the point I actually chose to stop it and eventually start over, but I later learned that the public beta sff was picked up by a Chinese creator who finished the rest of the set based on that terrible look, gave the character bright blue panties, and called it Wind. I think that was the first complete edit around that idea, but technically the first MB Goenitz was that awful beta version I made all that time back.

Am I better than walt at drinking beer?
I'll get my crack team of ninja scientists to research the matter and get back to you on that, assuming they have finished their earlier task of trying to figure out why people insist on accepting minor color and lighting changes on KOF sprites as proper CVS conversions despite clear and present examples of proportion change, different handling of fabrics, etc.

You know who you are. .\/.

Why is Cristiano Ronaldo way better than me at soccer?
Because he has to be better than most of the populace for a good reason. If it became known that they had enough other good players to replace Ronaldo, he would be demoted from the Real Madrid club to Suspected Bootleg Madrid! They don't even get baby blue and bright pink uniforms, but crappy colors like Periwinkle and Salmon.  They fool no one.

Is there a single sprite that you know it's the very vest sprite you did?
While I may enjoy a general body of work, it's rare to have any single sprite I actually like on its own for a long period of time. I actually find it very difficult to maintain personal satisfaction with any of my work for a long period of time, as I often later feel that I could find ways to make things better.

I like your site, that's not a question.
Thank you kindly, although I wonder if that's referring to IRWT or the ManyNinjas site. I imagine the former, which I really should make a new update for. Hah!

Favorite Superhero?
I grew up reading Marvel Comics, with a big emphasis on X-Men and Wolverine titles, so he's sort of the defacto answer.

When will Rolento make a Rolento and bring it full circle
I recall starting a Rolento as far back as the DOS days, when sprites were still being actively ripped from PSX emulation. It was not very good, and the venture was dropped as Tenshin short afterward released what was the definitive Rolento for a very long time.

This thread is now being monitored by ninjas. .\/.

I'll start off the answers in text here, but if there are enough later on, I could do a video response or two down the line.

Whats your greatest inspiration?
To be honest, that answer is pretty broad and somewhat difficult for me to answer as I'd honestly say I've had a lot of inspirations regarding a lot of topics. I'd actually like to answer this one by giving you an idea of the sort of things I keep on my personal bookshelf here in my office:
  • A collection of both imported and Udon translated Capcom art books: In case the username didn't tip everyone off, I'd consider myself a big fan of Capcom related titles and franchises. I grew up playing Mega Man, Street Fighter and Final Fight among other things with a big part spent on CPS2-3 era work, so a lot of their aesthetic is pretty interwoven into my own sprite work at this point.
  • Various books of specific comic artists, anatomy reference books, classical art books: I don't often get a chance to work with it in practice these days, but my education background covered a lot of studio art courses in addition to the study of art history. In terms of the latter, I likely spent most of my focus looking at both the drawn and sculptural works of the renaissance period and classical Greek work, although I am embarrassed to say my memory on the subject is now quite spotty. As for specific comic artists, I'd have to say the artist I have the most books about is Frank Cho off the top of my head.
  • Robert Greene titles, Sun Tzu's Art of War, etc: The first Robert Greene book I read through was the 48 Laws of Power, which led me to look for his other titles. I really enjoy how the author pairs up his ideas and suggestions with relevant examples and stories, which I've skimmed over several times over the years as the ideas within are always still applicable.
Whats the best comic you ever read?
If we are talking in terms of pure enjoyability, I'd honestly have to say Yotsuba&, which now that I think about it you introduced me to back in the day. If we are talking in terms of story and such, then I'd have to answer more in terms of stuff I've read recently as my opinion on that has changed over the years; I've been reading a lot more stuff from Dynamite Press such as Red Sonja titles, I can strongly recommend main books in the Mouse Guard series, and I've rather been liking recent Marvel titles like She-Hulk and Storm. Additionally, anything done by Stjepan Sejic like Ravine and Death Vigil is considered an automatic purchase at this point.

What are the mugen works you never finished you wish you had?
There's been a number of things, but the top three are Zero, Broly and the alternate take on Genocyde. On the honorable mention list here would be Yellow Iris from Battle Circuit, finishing Suave Dude and She-Hulk. I'd also rephrase it as things I still want to finish, as I still have all of their working files around here somewhere...

Whats the a bad moment you participated in at mugen? What about a good one?
If we are talking good, then I'd say my involvement in sprite related work that appeared in various other projects with SF2NES still being one of my favorite things to have worked on. In terms of bad things, the worst thing hands down would have to be the involvement in the whole WinMugen mess. I'm not sure if there's still the archived post around, but years back someone who didn't identify themselves at the time wrote up a post that explained the happenings behind closed doors at the time when that whole thing fell apart. It's a poorly kept secret of who wrote that account.

Who is the worse mugenite and why is it E?
It's actually a tie between the both of you. Between that stupid bear with a wig and the robo-loli, I don't know who to hate more.

This thread requires more ninjas. Plus, you'll just have Iced talk about nonsense like bears with wigs or something.

Dead or Alive Fan: You speak about Bucky O'Hare now being expensive, yet the TV in the background shows a copy of Snow Brothers which has been pricier for longer?

Vans: If you send the Framemeister up north, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you. I will not pursue you. But If you don't, then I will look for you... I will find you and I will kill you. .\/.

Also, more Saturn games including one of my favorite older DBZ titles, although it was the psx build I used to play.
