Title: D updated, Thank you Umezono
Post by: D, The Red Cloak on March 31, 2013, 05:10:47 am
Thanks to Umezono for the feedback, I'm able to update this character, hopefully for the better. All the changes are documented on the ReadMe.
Sorry for the delay. Also, I am also updating Bunny Tracy and Bison Trooper also, and they will be available for download soon.

Gonna have to try this myself, not just because of it being based off the Bootleg but also because it's an Elirin edit.

-The air version of D, DF, F + A doesn't seem to work (I did the motion in the air like it says in the Readme but nothing is happening....)
-The focus attack seems kinda useless when you have Bouncer Dash (They pretty much do the same thing)
-I think Royal Rumble should be a level 2 super, reason being because I can keep super canceling it into itself. It leads to half a health bar being depleted if timed right:

I will say, I like the concept of this character. Neat use of the Elirin sprites.

-Ah crap. I should of added in the readme that the move is suppose to work as a Combo ender. I'll fix that.
-Well you see, The Bouncer Dash is more mobile, but it can be blocked and you can get knocked out of it while it's being performed. While The Focus Attack is unblockable while also being able to continue it's attack even if she gets hit while fully reared back.
-That's not suppose to happen. I'll try to fix that.

A quick suggestion, instead of having it cause the opponent to hit the wall (like Bouncer Dash does), why not cause it to crumple the opponent like in Street Fighter 4?

Also bit of a nitpick, but it would be nice if you can use the small port from the bootleg instead of Elirin's VG one.

-I might do that.

-Well I guess I could figure something out with the NES Sprites.

Okay that should be everything now.

-Focus Attack can now inflict a crumple state.

-Royale Rumble is now a Level 2 since I can't figure out how to make it unable to Super Cancel into itself.

-Readme is updated.

-Unfortunatly, I didn't use the original NES sprites since it's almost 1 AM and I'm really tired now. So I'm off to bed now. Night guys.

Sorry if it's not what you expected, but I did try to use the original sprites. Unfortunatly, my edits made them look bizzare in the bad way.

Hey guys, I just discovered something weird about the Focus Attack. Not the attack itself but it's effect on comic characters like Thor, Starfire and Etrigan. Well you guys better see it for yourself.

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I checked the download link, and it works fine at my end. And sorry to say I don't have an alternate link. I'll try to get another link.

Hey guys, I just discovered something weird about the Focus Attack. Not the attack itself but it's effect on comic characters like Thor, Starfire and Etrigan. Well you guys better see it for yourself.

I dug around in the focus attack code and found the special "freeze" animation is happening because of the following stuff in state 1029:

[State 1220, ground freeze, has anim]
type = ChangeAnim
triggerall = AnimExist(7990)
trigger1 = (time = 0) && (pos y >= 0)
value = 7990

[State 1220, ground freeze, no anim]
type = ChangeAnim2
triggerall = !AnimExist(7990)
trigger1 = (time = 0) && (pos y >= 0)
ctrl = 0
value = 1029

Since your crumple animation is made using required sprites, you don't really need the state to check if an anim exists within the enemy, which is what is causing the trouble. I commented out the above code, then added the following code into state 1029 and it made Starfire crumple like she's supposed to:

[State 1029, 1]
type = ChangeAnim2
Trigger1 = time = 0
trigger1 = (time = 0) && (pos y >= 0)
value = 1029

I also checked it on Thor and he crumpled correctly, too. If anything is wrong with this fix, hopefully someone will speak up before it gets put into an update - I haven't done a whole lot of coding lately but this seems to have resolved the problem.  Or the coding might have been completely intentional, in which case it gave me a laugh. :)

-Yeah that wasn't intentional actually, but glad you got a good laugh about it. :)

Focus attack causes the opponent to only be able to walk, and not be able to attack at all until touched.

Sorry that I didn't respond earlier, but I just looked at the post.

And you sure? I tested this out and I did find that if the opponent goes forward and gets hit, he/she goes sliding back quite a ways.

But still, what exactly happened for this to happen?

Edit: Wait a minute I just got it to happen. And I have absolutely no clue. I'll try to figure this out.

Nice!!

Love the X-ray effect!  :kugoi: ..and lol, calling him JCVD!!

Some quick feedback:

Bison Trooper
Stun Gun needs some shock fx & sound even when he´s not hitting p2

How about a "MK like" Chameleon Trooper with random voices from the other versions and all specials/supers, something like a "upgraded" Black Ops version?

Again, powercharge on taunt button. It´s nice to have a taunt after Bison Trooper is fully charged, still... try to seperate taunt and powercharge.

Powercharge fx on Bison Troopers is inconsistent, sometimes they are flashing, sometimes not. Black ops version has no flashing at all.

JCVD
No throw?

Small portrait is a mess...

In order:

-I fixed the shock sound.

-I'll think about that.

-The taunt and Power Charge are now separate.

-The power FX are fixed now.

-Not yet.

-Don't worry, my friend Ness Vilain is helping me with that.

Something like blue fx/electricity charge just on the fron of the stun gun and some sparkle sound...

Nice small portrait for JCVD!

Some feedback:

Bunny Tracy

Love the mix up of classic NES style and "modern", good!

 - Have a hard time with the additional/followup Hypers after "Royale Rumble"...
 I tend to button mash, sometimes it works. Maybe it would be easier just to hold the appropriate button.

 - Bouncer Dash doesn´t work with x

- Retro Tornado has some not good looking fx. You can see the boarders of the fx...

The Shadow
Enjoy your take on this old school comic hero! Love the invisibility syteme and laughter!

 - Again, try to seperate taunt & powercharge....
 - No throw? I know that the Shadow has a very nice looking throw in the source game...
 - Powercharge sound is too loud, you can´t bearly hear the Shadow speaking
 - Powercharge voice should cancel itself, else I can mash powercharge and I can hear the powercharge voice as an echo...
 - Phantom Swing... The Phantom scale looks off, too small
(http://i42.tinypic.com/347i9nn.png)

 - Typo in the readme: Devastator is done with D, DB, B, a+b, not a or b
 - Back-Up hyper - Why Streets of Rage 1 back-up police car?  :???:

Kamaitachi

ROFL @ the "Ultimate" Ninja. :2thumbsup:  Very nice!

 - powercharge/taunt
 - typo... Turbine hyper can only be done with y, not with x

Kunoichi

 - again, powercharge & taunt on one button
 - powercharge sound is too loud
 - no sound on standing a (hitsound is there, but else...)
 - Fire Sword special, why is there no fire fx on p2?
 - same implies to Fire Kunai & Flame Geyser hypers

I like your work, keep it up!
Title: Re: JCVD + other characters updated

Sorry it took so long, but I got them done now.
- Back-Up hyper - Why Streets of Rage 1 back-up police car?  :???:

Well, The Shadow does have agents all over the world, so why not have a cop with bazookas and chainguns as an agent?

Ok, that kinda makes sense.  :)

So long? Man, that are some very quick updates? Love it!  :thumbsup:

 - Powercharge sound is still way too loud on Kunoichi, Kamaitachi & The Shadow.
 - You could add the p2 fire fx on The Shadows torch attack too.
 - How about a "better" small portrait for The Shadow?
 - ...please don´t forget the throw for him  ;)

Nice update!

JCVD:
-Sonic Boom leaves him at -9 on hit up close.
-Pistol leaves his at -5 on hit up close.
-(Tested on KFM) Pistol 2's second shot doesn't hit.
-It seems like crouching Pistol should do a tad bit more damage.
-Then again, all of his specials seriously need a power boost.
-EX Sonic Boom takes 330 power? Why not 500?
-Why isn't there two Sonic Booms that don't take power? It makes more sense to have that along with X+Y being EX Sonic Boom.
-c.A misses up close.
-His jumps feel floaty and weird.
I'm just not seeing the hype. He needs a lot more work. :-\

I'll get right on it, but first, I need to ask some questions.

-Sonic Boom leaves him at -9 on hit up close.
-Pistol leaves his at -5 on hit up close.

What do you mean exactly?

-c.A misses up close.

How?

-His jumps feel floaty and weird.

Why, I used Kung fu man as a base and I didn't make changes to his jump.

-What do you mean exactly?

-Why, I used Kung fu man as a base and I didn't make changes to his jump.
-Frame advantage. It leaves JCVD at a disadvantage that allows him to be punished even if it hits. Not good.
-Try using crouching A at point blank range. Chances are it'll miss (tested on KFM in the corner, by the way).
-It still feels weird. Using KFM as a base doesn't change that.

Will check on JCVD's progress as soon as I possibly can, I've been quite busy with work, fatherhood, and my workout routine ... will give more feedback bro!   :afro:

-Edit:-

I think he needs a few system changes, more like additions, and I also think you should dump the sonic boom for a throw or a different move since he already has a projectile ... something unique ... Bison Tropper has a lot of projectiles, so try to make Van Damme kinda' opposite of him, after all Van Damme is know for physical combat ... the sprites are limited, I understand that ... maybe I can help Frankensprite something for you :-)

Meh, that's a Chun-Li thing...Guile never had that except in the game with JCVD as Guile, and it's not very canon anyway.
Could you give JCVD the Flash Kick, if possible?

WTF dude are you illiterate?

before i decide to download... question does he play like Guile or does he actually seem more like JCVD?

No. I tried to distance myself from making another guile, The only thing he has that's Guile related is his Sonic Booms.

I wasn't sure, whenever he said no to Guile's SFTM kick or Guile's more traditional Flash Kick.
Probably no to both...

I've been meaning to report this, but I've kept forgetting. Your characters have a problem when fighting Cybaster's Batman. Their big portraits appear all fucked up when Batman uses his anti-character spray attack. You can fix this problem by following these steps. (https://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=127313.0) I only have Jean Claude Van Damme and Bunny Tracy, but I assume all of your characters have this problem.

The Shadow

 - I can cancel the "Rapid Fire Guns" super after the first four shots with anything (move, taunt, attack). Intentionally?
 - Powercharge issue. Can start the powercharge by pressing the two buttons, but when I release one, he´s still charging. He should only charge while pressing & holding BOTH buttons. Dunno if this occurs with all of your chars with a two button command powercharge; haven´t tested that.

Hit sound for JCVD's signature helicopter kick could be much better IMO, I'll check into my sound collection and try to get you some more stuff, I just recently downloaded all of Super Smash Bros. SFX, so there must be some for sure winners for sound ideas.  I still think ALL Guile's moves should be dropped, I know they're not the most serious characters made, but look at The_None's Wolf and T-8P (Stallone and Schwarzenegger respectively)  as I said before, being that his sprites are Acclaim/Midway styled sprites, it'll be a pain, but I can help Frankensprite some stuff for new moves, adding a run and dodge, and a few other kofish system stuff to him would make him feel a little more solid I think ... but that's just me ... His taunt sound needs to be the same sound as his LP animation not this weird air sound ... and his forward dash sound needs changed to sound like he's hoping/dashing nopt flying ;)

I love what you have done so far my friend!

That sound did come from one of the sound clips you sent me. It's named NeckBreaker. And to me it sounded more painful then the one I used before, which sounded more like a chicken bone being cracked.

I still think ALL Guile's moves should be dropped,

Well he has to have some reference to his role in Street Fighter: the Movie game besides his attire, But I will add a little more to his arsenal with more physical attacks.

as I said before, being that his sprites are Acclaim/Midway styled sprites, it'll be a pain, but I can help Frankensprite some stuff for new moves, adding a run and dodge, and a few other kofish system stuff to him would make him feel a little more solid I think ... but that's just me ...

Yeah I will really appreciate it if you did, because if I tried that, I'd probably botch it royally and make it look horrible.

His taunt sound needs to be the same sound as his LP animation not this weird air sound ... and his forward dash sound needs changed to sound like he's hoping/dashing not flying ;)

That I can do right now, but I probably won't just immediately release after I did. With what you said I should do more first.

However, I don't know how to make the jump less floaty.

That would be a combination of altering both the jump velocities as well as the y.accel values in his cns file. The higher the y.accel, the faster he falls, and the y velocities for the jumps should be self explanitory.

umm how often do u watch any JCVD movies? .. he's always had a tip-tap kicking move.. it originally generated from Kickboxer if i believe correctly.. if not kickboxer it was more likely bloodsport.. but he's always had tip-tap kicks and they aren't anything like chun li's .. chun li's "lightning kicks" alternate between mid-body and head .. JCVD focused more on the face or head :) and he's only ever used the "flash kick" twice.. and that was in The Quest and Street Fighter which is a reference to Guile.. therefore he wont add the flash kick into his JCVD.

Really like the invisible & new dash effect for The Shadow. Fits much better!

Got some issue...

The Shadow win animation where he shoots the light out... If you skip the win animation, the black screen is still visible for a short time into the next round.

Oh great, a JCVD update!

Some feedback...

Debug message - In state 5900: can´t map palette 1.1 to 1.2

Crouching Pistol shot does 90 damage, regardless of whether I hit weak punch or strong punch. I would suggest to do something similar as you did with standing pistol shot (damage and hits).

You have to update your readme, "c" button is not power charge anymore.

Unnecessary kfm.act in the folder.

I thought you updated his ai? There is no ai file...

Open up debug mode, message is right there from the start.

I did and it's not showing. You must be using 1.0 or 1.1 while I'm using WinMugen and Win doesn't find doesn't seem to find that error.

I think the reason that the error is showing at all is that the game is looking for a second palette, but Van Damme only has one at the moment.
I don't know if I'm right or not, it's just a theory.

Nice, I really enjoy the intros and the fx you use for "Electric Shield" super.

You have to mirror the "Marco Won" text, depending on which side Marco wins...
(http://i44.tinypic.com/315iijc.png)

Lie down sprites look to much up on the ground...
(http://i39.tinypic.com/2vxm9ur.png)

You should add in the readme that you can move while Marco does his "Temper Tantrum" super.

Taunt needs some sound/voice

Throw would be nice...

Why not use the long range punch attacks or the "even longer" punch attack from Cenobite53s rip?

-That's how the sprites were ripped unfortunately.

-I'll lower that immediately.

-I'll add that.

-I'll fix that too.

-There wasn't any grab sprites to work with.

-There weren't that many long punch sprites.

I used the sprites from Cenobite53's edit of Nicolas James' Marco, which didn't have all the sprites.

Nice update!  :)

 - I can now throw p2, while using KFM animations. It looks bad, if you don´t have any throw animation from Marco, then just leave it out

 - Can´t you just turn Marco if he wins on p2 side, so that the alignment of the text would be correct?

 - Both animations are in cenobite53s Marco char...

Good update, win animation is working fine now.

Two little things I noticed while playing against Marco...

 - His dizzy animation needs some "SF2" like dizzy sounds, since he´s seeing starts too  ;D

 - Shouldn´t the "Electric Shield" Hyper be invulnerable/destroy projectiles? AI does es sometimes from afar...

 - AI "cheats" XD, did an 11 hit combo with only jumping Dropkicks (B) in the corner against me

After a few tests, I decided to make another change. I changed the anim of the standing heavy to match with the crouch and air heavys.

Also there is a bug that is found during Arcade mode. If you lose and you exit the continue menu, the dizzy sound effect plays. I don't know how to fix that.
