asuka and unknown have pretty much the same moves with minor changes so animating her was swift. she is pretty much battle ready.
I'll probably post a video later on today show casing her moveset

She has most of her iconic combos and launchers, signature moves like the triple leg cutter


the back hand doesnt bounce/bound the opponent like in tekken 6   - but the elbow after the knee attack does

a minor observation, the movement of her feet going from full frontal to 3/4 in the elbow blow is bumpy, great work so far Maverik

Wow. Asuka is looking hot. It'l be interesting to see how your 3D version stacks up against C.v.S. The Abstract's sprited version. Ultimately, I expect greatness from both. Keep up the phenomenal job!!

Quick question: Will we be able to pull out characters individually to fit into our rosters?? Not to sound like an annoying broken record, but I'm anxiously awaiting your utterly badass Ninja. I'd like to have him all to myself and kick some ass with Krang.

its up to anyone if they want to take them out of the fullgame. Lol and dont worry about grey fox i have planned to release him individually so you will get him eventually.

in the new tekken tag 2 unknown is actually juns evil side so she fights like jun but with supernatural moves too.
-yes she has the wolf thing too as part of her special. It can be summoned and used as a sort of assist.

-those are some good DOA suggestions, my favs were kasumi and ayane in the series, I also liked bayman from the DOA 1 i think.

thanks man xianghua is a lot like ling xiayou, they share a lot of moves so it will be one or the other. ling or xianghua.

Well If he would go for Soul Calibur, I'd say Siegfried, Nightmare, Ivy, Taki or Mitsurugi is a better choise then Xianguha to represent the Soul Calibur Series, but let's not overload Maverik with wish requests  ;)

a lot of people seem to want hayabusa, I dunno never really liked him that much and im not a fan of halo  :P. That samurai thing your talking about would be tengu i think thats not a bad choice. But yeh if i do a DOA they will play like the doa style but at the same time be mixed with my style.

Usually I'd say Law. But there is only two DOA charecters in  Mugen. So I'd go with Jahn Lee.

Plus I made a Bruce Lee edit which is meant to be Law, It's only a soundpack and colour edit but it'll do for now.

I think a DoA character could put some balance in the cast in terms of type of characters and their special intros, for example, i think that since they´re are based in japanese folklore, Tengu could be a good match against against Fujin or Shoryuu, Gen Fu, the chinese wushu expert could be a nice rival for Onikage and Ayane which i remember you favorited in previous comments could be a good rival of Rikimaru

On another note i think Puck could have worthy adversaries on either Shoma Sawamura, Roberto Miura or Natsu Ayuhara from the Rival Schools project, another untapped 3d project!

I agree, my favorites: Christie, Hitomi and Lei Fang  aren't even considered in this list while their fighting styles are pretty awesome

mabe kenshin form samurai x PS2 is something that can be converted quit nicely with your style.
i think its a good idea to have a 3D kenshin but is just looks like it fits nice with your style of characters.
you dont have to take this as a request but just to give you an idea maverik.

I agree too. tengu is like a watered down devil jin sort of, and there is already a devil jin in this project.

Indeed, Christie snake style much like Tekken´s Zafina arachnid moves and Voldo´s moves are tough to follow and  are designed to keep the enemy guessing, they re my favorite type of character and even tough they could be hard to get they would add variety in the fighting styles of the game.

On the other end Hitomi plays with a traditional style of Karate and has some Judo moves, much like Akira from Virtua Fighter or Makoto from SF3, she is a heavy hitter but i think she could be a good counter part on Asuka´s swifter Aikido

hey cvs the abstract i love your work but i did anounce that i will realese every popular and mabe all the soul calibur character for mugen in cvs style so just to let you know. im not saying that you cant but i just want people to get my character and with greens ivy style as and original style for soul calibur mugen. i am now working on taki then after her i will make seigfrei since he is the main characters of the seires. another taki would be better with soul calibur moves and sounds both english and jap mabe by laharl or alexei. well hope you make something like steve fox.


or maybe, since he is planning on making a tekken vs street fighter game, you two could collar in your project Super Dragon Blade, that could help you finish the spiriting it faster and concentrate in other matters like gameplay and such sooner

sorry i ment to post this on cvs the abstract's trend and anyway i decided to start a full game called soul calibur vs. tekken project created by me. im not going to realese  this into the public untill all the characters in the game is sprited. drgonof (forgot how to spell his name) lars will be better then tekken 6 because i did not like that lars buit this one will be better, each character that people did not like in the twio seires will be better in mugen. now i have good rivalies with tekken and soul calibur. this way i can get tekken and soul calibur in mugen. they are most wanted by people.

the soul calibur characters gameplay will be the same as greens ivy and the tekken characters game play will just be similar to sf x t but with a system i will make up an it will be called freestyle fury with you can chain any combos when that dont connect

i see what you mean about guessing characters, tsumiko actually fits under the unorthodox guessing type too. since she has multiple stances. the thought of animating voldo or zafina is quite daunting lol. but it will be a challenge.  Christe not so much since i can get lots of capoeira reference

better then tekken 6 lars? you probably dont like lars because his combos and strategies rely on spacings, if lars is fighting in a small stage he is pretty much screwed over against a pro opponent. will be interesting to see how your lars turns out

Looking good.

The cornerpush on a move or two sent her half way accros the screen, so you may want to fix this.
Gameplay looks very loose, but I'm no Tekken player (never liked it), so maybe it feels like that in Tekken.

A little off-topic : did you make the stage with your usual 3D delta method ? Looks like the kind of stage where a simple parallax can easily do the trick (which is what you may have done anyway). The transition between gray ground and black (shadows/dark) in the corner cruelly lacks smoothness. I know Mugen is shit when dealing with gradients, but this looks more like colorloss coming from your sprites directly. You should try cutting the sprites (jigsaw method) or using the RGB method) to avoid killing the colors too much.

-yeh the corner push has to be high with asuka otherwise she can corner trap the opponent by spamming the move.

-the gameplay is a free combo system like tekken. So there arent any restrictions besides the moves that have long cool down time.  There are moves that cannot be done twice in a row on the opponent like the "bound/bounce attack"

-the stage.

the stage is done via the same delta method. so the colourloss comes directly from the sprites. But I have since fixed that by reducing the shades and gradients to almost zero. Mugen has a very nasty way of dealing with shades of the same colour.

Okay, gotcha for the character.

About the stage, Using a normal method would seem like the best solution in this case. I mean : the stage doesn't have so many elements that give depth to the stage, contrary to most (if not all) of your other stages. This means that even when we move across the stage, the elements in the BG don't really "turn" with the 3D effect. Only the furniture in the middle can get this effect, and only a slight one since it's so far in the background. Other elements don't need it. Coding the floor with just some parallax would achieve the exact same result, you'd have more easily control over it (no need to struggle so there's no sliding) and it would be much easier I believe to avoid gradient problems.

But yeah, I'd understand if you didn't want to remake the whole stage if you already considered it as fine.

I was  thinking of rendering some of my stages with just delta BGs and parallax floors. So I am opened to that Idea. Also applying your method is actually faster then the delta method so it wouldnt be a problem to restart the stage.

Yeah, one of the stages that could easily benefit from that is the Raijin (???) stage, where the God could be separated from all the BG elements if it hasn't been done already, this facilitating the animation of the sky, making it easy to avoid colorloss and all, with possible deltas. Adding to that, you could also separate Raijin from the floor and code the floor with parallax.

i know....the idea is just literally a secret item move. not story related. asuka doesnt have the devil gene but she has the bility to reverse the effect like jun kazama by touching anyone that has the devil gene. for example asukas ending where she touches jin.

secondly even though tekken tag is non canon unknown is verified as jun kazama, not only that but jun herself even has supernatural powers in that game. so basically both the kazamas and mishimas are fucked up genetically.

Would that even work though? She would still be using regular Asuka's gethits, which means no horns or wings when she gets hit. Unless there's a way around this that i'm not seeing.

Also, if you're taking suggestions for VF characters, i'd say Goh just because he's one of the cooler guys from that game.

EDIT: Wait, don't you not like Cybaster? Don't you not like me for some reason? What am I doing here?

Whatever, I don't care about that anymore. I still want Bryan.

this is from the old discontinued project. When shinjo transforms he has an entirely different series of hitstates and animations. he can transform when he has 1 full bar but it decreases at -5 per ticks even faster when you get it. The only time he transforms back is if the gauge is at zero or if he is hit whilst the gauge is almost empty.

also the only goh i know is the one on this site....Im not a fan of virtua fighter.

indeed, im basically taking concepts from the tekken 6 what if endings. Even ganryu gets the devil gene in his and yoshimitsu gets possessed by his evil sword. Hwoarang nearly becomes devil hwoarang. you get the idea. the secret items are just for extra fun.

And I guess if it works, then go for it. Will all the secret items be as excessive as Devil Asuka? Like, maybe Bryan could have more robotic parts and shit.

yes in a way. because each tekken character has the item "heart of azazel" so say for example yoshimitsu. He will turn into the psycho yoshimitsu in the tekken 6 ending. I'm not sure what to do with bryan though. maybe like you said some crazy robotic update or just give him a vulcan mini gun and have him shooting like a mad man. For a character like armor king and king I'll probably just end up turning them into a full man beast.

in tekken tag 2 he actually does have that lol, looks more like bat wings in the form of a wooden kite though.
also i might need to come up with something else for mokujin since he already has devil jin moves and according to the tekken story
mokujin cannot be influenced by evil. he is basically mother nature fighting back.
your self destruct idea is also reserved for someone else  ;)

how it would work is, before the match you'd select which ever secret item you want, similar to the sf, groove system. this will then unlock secret item moves that can be performed during the match.

Looks amazing and the idea is very creative if I can make afew suggerestions you should add that chain that devil jin haves on his waist and left arm and maybe change devil asuka's stance so it won't look to similar to the regular version of her and you can change his clothes color to maybe black and a very dim red and add afew tears on the pants on top collar of her jacket and good luck on your project Maverik I can't wait to see howw your characters look when there done  :sugoi:

cheers and thanks for the suggestions, I was thinking of changing the stance and making it more like devil jin's. The idea about adding chains and rips though might not work so well for continuities sake. Because when she transforms back the chains and rips will be gone.

About these custom states and animations, how do they work with respect to general Mugen ? Aka which of these :

1- Are these states compatible only against your chars (like in a fullgame environment) only ?
2- Are all the characters compatible ? ie. if they have the good animation triggered with selfanimexist (used as an optional standard) then they use it, otherwise they use an animation using regular sprites with a changeanim2 (would obviously not look as good but everybody would be compatible) ?
3- Only compatible with chars having the anim, so triggered by a list of names perhaps ?
4- Would the chars that want to be compatible have to add a bunch of code in their states ?

3rd option is correct, The custom hit states are not compatible with regular characters and work via name flags and triggers. But if a characters name is not added to the code string and doesnt have the necessary animation state for the move i have coded a replacement state which will bypass the custom one for a normal hit state. so in a way it works with all characters but the move will have a different effect.

if someone wanted another character to be compatible with the custom hit system they'd simply have to add all the states 8100+ and anims series to there air and cns and then include the name of the character to the moves with custom hit properties.

Your explanation makes it look like it's option 2 then, only that the opponent would have to add a few code in their characters. :P

Actually, it would be best if you didn't have a bunch of names but just triggered the states with a bunch of selfanimexist : this way, if people want to add these custom states in their characters in the future, they wouldn't need to PM you so that you can update your characters with their name in it. This just adds overall compatibility to Mugen and creates a new set of optional standard animations, which is always welcome (see this in case you're not familiar with them).

It also saves work for you and people can continue making their characters compatible with yours even if you leave the Mugen scene (taking the example of Bad Darkness who's coded the first Demitri but made Midnight Bliss triggered only with a bunch of names, which is a pain in the ass when using a simple selfanimexist would have rendered compatible all chars who had this animation, instead of having to modify Demitri's code each time).

So yeah, to resume : you just trigger each custom state with the correct selfanimexist, and on their side, people interested in making their chars compatible add the correct anim(s) and add the correct code in their chars (in which case a little tutorial in the readme of your chars just saying what to copy/paste would be more than welcome). :yes:

cheers, oh and that level is not meant to be the noh theatre. its actually a stage from my other project. "fukasawa HQ" their are a few similarities though.
