MUGEN 1.1 OPENGL ONLY

The longest project I've been a part of so far. Mugen Renegade is a persona 5 inspired screenpack created for Mugen 1.1 and OpenGl only. It plays at a 1280x720 resolution, comes with 5 different select screens, and has a custom stage display and portraits. Portrait templates and images are included in the rar file.

I would like to create a version that does not require OpenGl in the future, but I wont give any promises.

I created a website to host all my creations and edits. It's still a work in progress, so be sure to come back to it later on. The website link is below. Enjoy. I also added a link to a stage font tutorial video by DaHatMan.

Dude this is an awesome SP really digging the visuals and music. Shoji Meguro never fails to make godlike music especially when it comes to the Persona series. Glad you took your time to complete this beauty.

Excellent. Simple and elegant. Does it come with Lifebars?

Is there a way to reduce the size of the Stage Select Font? Using the 198 slot version. If you have stages with even semi long names it goes past the border.

No lifebars this time around. He wants to get better at making them before putting them in an sp.

Regardless, this thing's kickass dude. Great job!

Exactly what you said, 1Her0.  Thanks for letting him know.

Also, thank you, Vegaz and 1Her0!

hmm, maybe. Wouldn't be hard to make. I just don't like how it would mess up what I was going for in the screenpack design-wise.

Sorry about that, I should have taken into account longer stage names. Follow these steps.

1. Go to the fonts folder inside Mugen Renegade
2. Open Keep_calm.def
3. Find this line "Size = 18,18"
4. Change both numbers to a smaller one. I would try 14 or 13.  Maybe 11 just in case. So it would be, for example, "Size = 13,13".

Nice portrait by the way!

Nice, Can't wait to see your next project! Your website looks great so far.
Thanks, Realra! I still have a lot more content to add to the website. Stay tuned.

@❤Shiho❤, just change the stage name to a smaller title. You, know something like "[Melty B] COURTYARD" or just Academy Courtyard. Just keep it simple and for you to remember.

@Spectra, good job man on the release. I will test and give my 2 cents, if needed. Keep it rocking, just another one of your fan's.lol

I would recommend doing that as well. Still, the font size could be smaller though. Also, thanks, Boss! I appreciate it.

Shiho, I forgot to mention this, you don't need to cut the portrait on the top. Take Morrigan here as an example.

It isn't her head, but the idea is the same.

Feel free to use the completed portraits in the template files as a guide, guys.

Thank you for releasing this! I guess it's time to stop lurking your WIP thread for this screenpack lol. Now I just need to figure out how to do Stage ports.

@Spectra That worked thanks! Also i didn't know about the top, it just naturally cut off the head so i just went with it. Unfortunately this render i used of Lancer already had its head cut flat like that. I have an alternate port i did that's not cut though!

@Big Boss Yea, that would work as well although i have a lot of stages that naturally have long names, shortening them would confuse me a bit. Also, i keep the prefix in front of stage names in order to organize/categorize my stages, i prefix and put them in order of source and last are originals.

That looks Nice! only thing is that the big portrait looks cut off on the left side. I like what you did with the small portrait. I should have done something like that instead.

For the stage ports, I put a youtube link and a stage font map in the readme files. It should be some help.

Thanks, OldGamer. I'll send you a PM.

Maybe we should make a custom portrait thread?

Take my word for it I think that good idea because all custom screen pack need one specially when you have your mugen fan sharing and making custom ports for your awesome work. I mean good examples is how Big Boss does with his screen pack and also same with Electros's screen pack and also Noz legacy screen pack :D I know everyone in the mugen community will love to pitch in and share there custom ports with everyone when they use your screen pack :D

I have to agree, thats a great idea. I plan on making ports for my whole roster and id love to share em. I use alot of anime and other game chars like UNIB, ports typically don't get made for those types that i've seen.

Done. I'll try to make some portraits as well.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this, for the stage template, I reduced a 1280 x 720 stage image by 38 percent in Photoshop.

To be specific, I have it at:
W: 38.83%
H: 38.75%

Spectra, why no Mugen.exe in your archive?
I just can't lunch the SP, why you didn't put mugen.exe in the .rar. :D

I think I didn't add it to reduce the size of the file. But I could include it next time to make it so that you can play off the bat.

Just a quick post here. I know a good amount of people don't know how to make custom portrait for stages. Thankfully, DaHatMan created a helpful tutorial for this. I added it to the original post as well as below. Hope it helps.

I know I'm necroposting, but seriously? It seems like any time I try to change the damn portrait with any of these custom portrait screenpacks, stuff like this happens. What am I supposed to click and/or set to get it to import correctly?

I am using GM's SF3 Ryu, btw. The optimized-for-1.0 version.
Title: Re: Mugen Renegade Screenpack
Post by: Spectra on December 23, 2017, 06:42:50 pm
If I remember correctly, it's because I made the portraits for 1.1 characters.

Just convert Ryu into 1.1 in Fighter Factory. Nothing should happen to him, but make a copy just in case.

When you want to convert a winmugen character into 1.1, convert them to 1.0 first, then 1.1.

Looks fantastic
Might be my new main mugen screenpack now (step aside legacy)

A few questions

1)Is there any way to add more character slots?
2)So basically your custom portraits coordinates are different than noz, because I added the ryu noz version from my previous game, and his portrait comes out in the middle during the char selec screen. VS screen wise isn't proper either. I guess it has to be from scratch then?

I'm going to assume we have to add our own lifebar.

1. Yes but you would have to remake the select screen yourself.
2. Yes you would have to make them from scratch but you can download the templates from the portrait thread to help you out. http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/mugen-renegade-custom-portrait-thread-180836.0.html
3. Yes you do have to add your own lifebar.

I'm frustrated atm. I can not get stage preview icon to appear for the stage port tutorial
I followed and I tried every fucking thing, and I still can't get it to run. Did every step.
It shows blank.

I'm using the 198 big roster port, can that be the problem?
since it can be a size issue.
