actually that makes sense


a lot of these characters (bar link/shiek, marth/roy, samus, ganon etc) would have never even been seen in a combative aspect if not for smash, whereas, fighting game characters, well duh


at least thats what i got from that quip

i cant count the reasons i should stay

so, let me focus less on third-party characters and more on pokemon that needs to be here, like zoroark and infernape

that question didn't really deserve answering, the most obvious fighting game choice would be ryu but having two capcom characters would be too much. ‘what does this character bring to smash bros that other characters don’t?’ is funny considering the amount of clone characters in previous games, but hopefully it won't be that bad this time around

The less clones the better. I also think Luigi's moveset could use a little more tweaking, if he returns. Even with the Green Missile move and Luigi Tornado(In Brawl, due to Mario's down-B move being F.L.U.D.D)

As much as I like EarthBound/Mother, SSB doesn't need any more characters from that series. I mean there's already been:
-Mr. Saturn as an item since Melee
-Two stages in SSB:M(With one of them returning in Brawl)
-One of the party members as an assist trophy(Brawl)
-Porky as a boss in Subspace and the King Pig Statue making a short appearance(Brawl)
-Trophies and Stickers and music.

Just do like Melee and just have Ness, some trophies and keep the Onett stage.
Lucas' appearance ended up only putting another clone in Brawl, along with plot spoilers for Mother 3.

I agree with the exclusion of fighting game characters, especially when you could consider how the moveset would have to be tweaked for SSB.

The longer the game is, the better.
For some games, this is true.

Then they need more new characters and less clones. Feel sorry for Falco, Luigi or Wolf, but better than nothing.
Luigi should be kept: He isn't a real Mario clone anymore, unlike in Melee, were the only difference was the side+B special.
However, I can see Falco and Wolf not appearing in this Smash Bros, as well as Lucas. I just hope that Sakurai will at least keep the veterans from the first Smash Bros, since they're kinda iconic.

...and his running A, his recovery (which was terrible, save for the whole explosion part), his side smash and probably a bunch of others. To me, he was only a real clone in the first Smash Bros.

In a way, Drewski has a point. Almost all the Pokémon characters are gimmicks. I want to play as the other Pokémon characters, but they're all so useless. Even Jigglypuff lost any usefulness it had prior to Brawl. If the team focused less on getting their silly gimmicks working and more time actually making them playable, I'd be happy.

Oh yeah, forgot about these. :P
And since we're already at it, we can also count in Luigi's taunt, which actually damages the opponent (like Dudley's rose throw taunt in the SF3 series).
