The new character select (Roster) is looking even better.
Any chance for a very large un-selectable hidden area on the character select (Roster)? for boss characters like those made by omegapsycho etc because that would make it a lot easier to set up the arcade mode.

love your idea, so how big should I make it. because I thought this layout was big enough O.o and how can we make them hidden ? will you pretty please tell me how can be done. I normally have all the character show up on all my screen pack :o

do you have any knowledge on how we can make this happen :D
Also I updated the roster  with a better looking than other one

thank you :D Roy that mean a lot to me buddy.I think its good as a roster set all thanks to my freind from Infinity Mugen team and I don't know how to make hidden slots or how to make this any bigger because I am not a huge mugen collector. so far I have 7 people with suggestion and feedback saying that this is well balance and perfect select screen and I should not change it and they said I should leave this roster the way its is now :D but I need to know is if this will be enough for everyone ? My question is how many characters were made for midway, namco and Atari mugen characters ?

Wouldn't be better if you changed the "player vs player" in versus screen for an big pixelated "VS" or "Versus", and the "mugen player get ready" text for an "next match!" or "get ready!"? just a suggestion.

Hey OldGamer. So you wondered how to make hidden areas in the character select screen.
So this is an example of increasing each row and column by 10
Ok so the way i add hidden unselectable areas in the character select screen is to add more rows and columns in the system.def
rows          = 30
;rows         = 20
columns       = 60
;columns         = 50
showemptyboxes       = 0
moveoveremptyboxes    = 0

The added empty boxes will be invisible in the character select if you just add blanks or empty spaces in the select.def. You also add blanks etc to the select.def to not mess up the order of the characters in the character select screen. You can add hidden characters (if you add them to the end of each line) by going to the edge of the screen and moving right etc
If you want completely hidden characters (unselectable but still appear as bosses or bonus rounds) instead add hidden characters to the extra bottom columns/rows but to the far right of each selectable line so they are completely unselectable in the character select screen.
Its hard to explain and perhaps someone knows of a better way but that's how i do it and its very easy. Once its set up its easy and i just add markers in the select.def like ;add boss character here etc but remember to add the ;

Yeah that will be way more than plenty but OK. So that would now be 46 across and 34 down but it will be ok and people wouldn't be able to complain about the lack of hidden space haha.
It will make it a lot easier for noobs and other people to add hidden characters, bosses and bonus rounds etc but like i mentioned though the select.def needs to be adjusted to keep it all nice and neat or characters will be added all over the place.
Perhaps i shouldn't have mentioned it because your already doing enough work as it is and it can be a pain in the arse filling out the blanks, adding markers etc in the select.def.
I forgot to mention that random select will still pick up hidden characters etc that are outside the screen and I don't think there's any way of getting round that because it just follows the select.def.
Whatever you decide i am sure this screenpack will be great.
Thanks

Personally I'm not too fussed if it takes up a lot of RAM but I can see your point that some people might not even be able to open/use it. Bad news you have to redo everything because of this RAM issue and it will be a shame if you have to downgrade the quality of this screenpack by using less animations etc because it looks awesome so far.  Hopefully you can find  a solution to this and good luck with it.

yeah Im going back to work and make my way to fix this because I really do want everyone to use the screen pack without the massive ram issue with mugen 1.1 and mugen 1.0 :)

I never had so mush work into this till today. ALSO we made some background to go with the retro cyberpunk style. we wanted to focus on more the gaming feeling but we had so mush problem with the ram massive issue that we could not do anything about. All thank to Demon Kai Idea and suggestion that we can savage what I been working. making thing feel more like the 80S AND 90s Feeling. I am still working with new ideas and with this problem for while but we been brain storming a lot. I mean when do you see a screen pack that take back in 1980S RETRO feeling right? we still have so mush to work on this is the Best I can do for time being we still working other atm but this is the best I could to reduces the ram issue. well the ram is back to normal 120mb to 90mb not bad for what its fort

thank you Revision~ that mean a lot to me. I been working on this and been hard for me. its really break my heart we had remove everything from the part two wip and re do everything again. Im still trying the best I can to make this work. I just hope its be all wort it in the end. coding a screen pack is not hard but coming with new ideas and changes everything two time in roll takes a lot from this old man haha. but all thank to Demon kai help we manage to savage what we had and he been so helpful with new idea and the look feeling theme for it. whelp this far I'm going for now until I work on some more Ideas. I just hope this work best for everyone :)
