The annual Indy Jazz Fest will be coming to town, lasting from June 13 to June 15. Aretha Franklin won't make it but Buddy Guy and John Legend will be there...

...and....Freddie Hubbard!

More details (http://www.guitarweek.com/indyjazzfest/) If you live in the midwest and love jazz get your butt to Indy!

Collective Soul came to Peru in February; like a dream come true for me. They also said they're planning to return in October to give s symphonic concert. I'll be there!

AAAAAnd, Capitan Memo is coming to Lima in June! Latin American people should remember him because he was the man who "dubbed" the music for a major number of cartoon and anime shows, like He-Man and Angel. I'll be there too.

@walt: You lucky bastard, minibosses rock. I specially like their interpretations of Megaman 2's themes.

When I went to My Chemical Romance's concert people started calling me emo.
o_O "Welcome to Black Parade" is one of my favorite songs.

I only attended to 2 "real" concerts in my life, both of Muse. One was at Marseille, the other one was in Paris, in a football stadium last summer. It was legen-Wait for it!-Dary !!! :D

Go to a GWAR concert then. Possibly the best metal show you'll ever go to.

Back when I saw them back in '04, it was so much fun. They seem to have gotten less fun to see each time they come around here though.

I went to go see Megadeth and Dream Theater a few years back. As of now, I'm waiting to see Slipknot, disturbed, dragonforce, and BLACK TIDE. I'm not much of a slipknot fan, but I'll for the rest anyway.

Sounds of the Underground is coming here soon, not much of a metal fan, but why the fuck not? I saw MCR a few days before my B-Day and it was awesome and I saw them last year at Projekt Revolution along with System of a Down.
After that I saw Panic at the Disco! which was awesome.
All I'm waiting for to see in concert now is Sambomaster, who I might see in febuary.
Also the band who did the 2nd or 3rd opening theme of Naruto came by and sung at a stadium...they were ok not that great, but yeah.
To Watari: Don't worry...maybe one day you'll see Minibosses. *Would pat his back. He'd also hand him a cookie as a sign of kindness.*

Although it's more probable I'll see them in my hometown (Monterrey), it's also probable I might end up seeing them in Guadalajara, instead.

Most big bands skip my city and go to Orlando except Metallica (which came to my city and was one Hell of a concert).

It was monstrous  :suttrox:! haha ... even some people cried when they played father time ... But none of those international bands actually came to my city. They just go to the capital (Buenos Aires may sound familiar), and me and other guys then make a trip from the provinces. That's a fun part also, travel during hours with fans just like you ...  :gossip:

Seeing as to how Dethklok is a cartoon band, did they do like what they did with Gorillaz live?
Title: Re: Concert Discussion
Post by: Orochi Gill on June 30, 2008, 06:45:39 am
Amazingly, no. They actually played in front of the screen, believe it or not. They still had a custom-made intro, a skit about Murderface going #1 while sitting, a lesson from Facebones on moshing, and even a custom made plot, but instead of it being to kill Dethklok, it was to make the fans too dumb to support the band. It was awesome.

I saw Stone Temple Pilots on Sunday. Needless to say, they kicked ass, and was a great first concert for both myself and my friend (pit "seats" FTW).

The opening act was some country band followed by some rock band called Black Francis. (They sucked, if you're wondering) At least STP made up for the terrible performance of those guys by playing all their hits! They even did a couple of brief covers, one of which was Queen's We Will Rock You. I swear to God that Scott took drugs because he was bouncing off the walls and not making any sense whenever he spoke, but what the fuck I cheered anyway, and they put on a great performance. If you ever get to see them live, do it, because it may be the last time they tour.

Oh, and some guys next to us smoked pot.

Nah, not into that. Was kinda freaked out at first but it's not like I was doing it or anything.

I will admit it was sort of relaxing after a few minutes, though. That is until the guy dropped it and used his damn lighter to look for it and he got close to my legs and I didn't notice until I felt the heat from the flame.

So I was at Converge (missed them), Mastodon, and Dethklok back on Friday. Man what a show. Ironically during Dethklok's Facebones' Lesson on Moshing, a fight broke out 15 feet behind me. ;P

Angelspit/KMFDM (9/30), 3 Inches of Blood/Between the Buried and Me/In Flames (10/2), and Molotov Solution/ABACABB/Through the Eyes of the Dead/Despised Icon (10/21) were good too. Angelspit was awful though, In Flames played The Hive from Whoracle at the oldest, and I got to see like 2 minutes of Molotov Solution. :(

Whether you are Hot Fuzz vocoding fagfan or a Sam's Town rocker, the concert had a little bit of everything for everybody, even songs that weren't singles. in their setlist a bit longer than 15 songs, they didn't focus more on their latest album, but they actually mixed songs from all albums really well.

The really show their showmanship, the song arrangements are made to be presented for large audiences and epic factor. I think I yelled so loud all througout the event that my throat started bleeding (felt that blood taste in my mouth), and I even shed a tear of excitement when they played the first lines of my favorite song. I've atended to like 10 real big ass concerts, and this is hands down one of the most satifying experiences of my life.

Rating 12/10

Good to hear that Güalt, I read about the setlist and I was surprised they played covers like Shadowplay. I thought they were going to play a majority of songs from Day & Age, but as you said they took the best songs from previous discs. (good thing, because Day & Age is not his best work).

For me: Read My Mind, Somebody Told Me, When you were young... and then kill me. I fulfilled my purpose in life. He.

Still 13 days to the concert in Perú... Platinum Tickets :)

Today I saw a couple of bands, I will do a short review on every band.

Dead raped chilldren: Some nazi we are dumb fucks spamming this site for ten years punk band (literally) who sucked balls.
Eya: Pretty good band, seems very trash-metalish, awesome solos, I didn't really like the vocals.
Crazymen: Horrible. The vocalist/bassist raped the bass, you could not here the guitar at all, some fucking up kind of music, the vocals was pretty bad too. :-\
Ninnuam: The BEST band, they played black-metal, totally fucking awesome, LISTEN to this band.
Tubleweed: What is this I don't even.
Dead victims: A awesome band as well, great vocals, it's worth listening to.
Sarea: The biggest band, a LOT of people came to see just this band, but they where not really that good. Epic growl, but all songs sounded the same, also ew clean voice, a BIG disappointment (maybe because it is not my kind of music).

I should throw this out there:

Most likely, in January, I'm seeing Devin Townsend, Cynic, Between the Buried and Me, and some other band I forget.

Devin Townsend and Cynic are gonna kick ass. BTBAM I've seen like twice live so I know they already will.

Double post, i but i dont care

It was fucking amazing, i went in a few most pits and circle pits. There was also a wall of death, that was amazing too. And i crowd surfed 3 times. This was just so amazing. And its the first concert ive ever been to.

First band was The Ghost of a Thousand, they where pretty cool, some kind of screamo hardcore, had nice moshpits and has the wall of death, the band members where going crazy and the singer ran into the crowd. Next was Four Year Strong, not very amazing, nothing special, just random melodic pop hardcore emo thingy. Next, Anti-Flag, the reason i came there. Was insane, loads of stage divers, 3 being me :P at the end they put the drums into the crowd, that was cool too. Next was Alexisonfire, but i dont like them so i left then.
Title: Walt - Really, it was the best f*cking concert in my entire life.

Tonight The Killers gave a show in Lima, Perú for the first time; I was in line for about 8 hours but in the end it was worth the wait because I was a few meters away from the stage. They really rock and Brandon Flowers is a showman, he really did what he wanted with the crowd. Fuck! It seemed like the show was for us, the people in the front!

I was really surprised on how some of their songs gain force when they perform live, like Spaceman.

Oh Walt, I specially recorded this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWB_7CtKa9Y) for you.

Best. Damn. Thing. Ever.

So I just got back from Scale the Summit, Devin Townsend, Cynic, and Between the Buried and Me. Holy shit, what a great show. The sound quality was excellent, setlists were great (no Veil of Maya from Cynic or Mordecai from BTBAM though :(), and I was up on a balcony so the view was great.

Devin and Cynic had neat stuff going on too. Townsend is entertaining as all hell, and Cynic even had the audience do yoga mid-set.

I know this one may be late...

I went to NY and saw Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck play. It was rather a fun show, and worth your money, but you just want....more. The show was 2 and a half hours long. First, Jeff Beck preform, and it was rather kick ass.  Once he was done, there was a 15 min intermission. Then Eric performed and it was rather fun to watch him play. But he didn't perform any Cream songs, which I know more Cream then his solo stuff. Jeff Beck would join him for 15 mins which was Awesome!!! Then the show "ends" untill Eric and Jeff play a encore song. Just one song and that was the end of the show. Still it was a ok show, but I wish it was a little longer

So ... Muse's private concert at Casino de Paris on the 25th of May was great, especially in a room with only 1500 fans. :) They even played Bliss, which they hadn't played in concert since 2006.
I'll be going to Stade de France this weekend for their huge concert in front of 75000 people.

In July, I will attend to "Eurockéennes de Belfort" festival, where I'll be able to see : Jay-Z, Kasabian, Missy Elliot, The Black Keys, Mika, Massive Attack, Julian Casablancas, Empire of the Sun, and many others !!! :D

Saw Death Angel but it was back in `86, so as you can imagine they were pretty raw back then being teenagers and all. I bought their demo "Kill as One" at the show, wish I still had it. Overall they were overshadowed by Exodus and especially Possessed, who freakin killed at that show.

I've seen a crap ton of shows since i last checked this site out, but a few i can recall specifically.
i finally saw AFI after waiting years and years for them to come around to my town. afi was amazing but the show itself lacked since it was only scarlet grey(descent alt/pop rock) and afi. it was still worth it thoug.
Every time I die, Four Year Strong, Polar Bear Club, and Trapped under Ice. it was a show to remember. trapped under ice scarred everyone though. there a hardcore band and they brought in a straight edge crowd, never seen so many people hardcore dance at one time. polar bear club was awesome. Four year strong was gasmic like i expected. Everytime i die was one of the best sets ive ever seen.
saw the fall of troy and this band called twin atlantic and this other band(werent that good). but twin atlantic blew me away, great stage presence, great music, and hey there from scotland.
the fall of troy made the crowd go nuts and it was a great tour to end the fall of troys 9 years together.
i just saw iwrestledabearonce with a bunch of shitty local bands(funny that none of the good ones played). iwrestledabearonce and this band called All's Quiet were the only good ones really. it was pretty insane though.
and well a shat ton of local bands that i love at tiny venues. local bands: Pianos become the teeth, good teeth gold teeth, brothers(grand rapids, MI hxc), Victor! Fix the Sun, The Reptilian, The skies Revolt, Doctor!Doctor!(now done), Onlytheashesremain(also done), and a crap load of others i forgot.
also, a special local band called La Dispute. listen to them, theyre seriously amazing.

Concerts this year

- Metallica: Best night ever. The sound was failing at the begining of the show, so I couldn't hear half of creeping death. Too bad they didn't play ride the lighting, battery and strangely enough, The day that never comes. There was a hilarious guy tripping with mushrooms talking with trees before the concert.

- Megadeth: The concert was mostly about Rust in Peace and Endgame. Shorter, lower quality audio than Metallica and the place was smaller. I enjoyed it though.

- Gamma Ray: I run out of money since it ws the same week as Megadeth and couldn't go.

I saw Iron Maiden Last Thursday.

It kinda sucked. It was a thursaday, and their fans are starting to age to the point where they can't move or something.

My friends and I were the hanging out with the weird 18 year olds who like them and were the most drunk people there.

To prove how lame this was, the last time I went to a rock concert I used to smoke large amounts of Pot, and I would share with the random people around me. I haven't smoked in for fucking ever almost a decade.

So this guy passes me this roach, I think what the fuck, so I take a hit. It wasn't Pot. It was some legal herbal shit that they sell at head shops. You know a concert sucks when even the weed is fake.

I saw Metallica...I guess last year or very early this year.

I've been to a bunch though.
Tom Petty (twice)
REM (4 times, and one of those was their VH1 Storytellers taping)
Metallica (twice)
Godsmack (opened for Metallica)
Lamb of God (opened for Metallica)
Rush
Aerosmith
Cheap Trick (opened for Aerosmith)

Fuck...I'm blanking. I wanted to see Paul McCartney in April but my band was playing a show the same day and I also didn't want to put my house up as collateral to be able to afford the tickets.

Rush will be here in a couple of weeks but the only tickets available are for over $200 a piece, unless you're handicapped. I used to have a wheelchair I found put out for garbage next to a church. If I still had it, I would put my wife in it, tell her to start drooling and I'd break out my credit card.

RELEVANT BUMP

Got back from Obscura/Septic Flesh/Devin Townsend (Project)/Children of Bodom.
Missed Obscura due to friend's work schedule (gave us an hour to get to NYC before they started) and traffic, and the power fucked up during Septic Flesh's last 10 minutes, right after we got there so we only got to see half a song. Townsend and Bodom kicked ass though.

For the general admission, it goes from $115 to $265. They also have another stop in Cali, one in Jersey and one in Miami if any of those are closer to you.

What really confuses me is why E-40 and Too Short aren't going to the Shoreline show. I mean, they live like 35 minutes away. Oh well, still hype.

Saw Tenacious D last night, and it rocked hard. They mixed up their set with stuff from all 3 albums (even getting Tribute, Fuck Her Gently, and Wonderboy in). And on the way out, I was barely in reach enough to hi five Ron Jeremy.

Now I just got Katatonia and Devin Townsend lined up for late September.

Fear Factory + 3 random bands I mostly don't care for lined up for 8/15. This'll be great
