Halo doesn't really offer anything new to the table, but it tries to perfect the FPS formula that already exists. Other FPS titles can be unique, but Halo's build makes it easy for any person familiar to the usual stuff jump right in and also experience a few new things as well. Halo 3 will sell just because of it's name similar to how Madden, Zelda, and Mario take advantage of popularity.

Halo has a shitty story, shitty map design, and the gameplay is mildly okay. I played, IDK, halfway through the first, I got so bored and I couldn't give a rat's ass about the story. I was also incredibly boring using the same 2 weapons because all the rest were usless.the Half-Life series is still the best single-player series.(And has sold more than the Halo series, believe it or not)The only people who can put down the first Quake are people who have never played it. I hated Quake 2 and Quake 4 was boring, but the originally Quake, also the first 3D FPS, was fucking awesome.
Halo 1 & halo 2 seeing as was one of the better shooters that was excessible at the time let it grow popularity.I love Halo but I know it's place in history.There has been others to set the pace but they at least don't throw out shit everytime.Where as most sequels are a year or less apart.+ Extreme Sci Fi draws people.

Now that FPS has some things other shooters don't have, I could even give a list Grendades bounced ever since they first showed up in a video game (including 2d), Halo is generic.I heard Tribes was pretty good, never got to play it though...

Plus, alot of things feel too easy in that game, I'm more of a sniper when I play FPS's online (Which I don't do very often , FPS's are not my forte) but sniping's really lame in Halo, it takes very little skill.You don't even have to try, just sorta shoot blindly and you'll get them if they don't get you first .

Really, only about two of the guns in Halo are original, The Needler (which sucks) and the Sentinal Beam (which also sucks). The rest you can find in other games.
