It means a kid with ADHD who just comes and sets up shop (The shop dude from RE4 inspired my name). He leaves a lot to be loved and desired, but is mostly a hate or like person. People sometimes call me troll or spammer, but I just reply to everything.

LegendaryXM90 came from a random username I just made up when I was 9 for an embarrassingly horrible online game that I used to play (original was LegendaryXMX - X was just because I like the letter), and it just kind of stuck with me.

Now I just go by my current name, Ishida Uryuu, a character from Bleach. (damn I need a new avatar)

Aboriginal7 - I wrote a story originally entitled The Aboriginals, the seventh character being some unexplained person whom I never made yet, but wanted to make him one because 7 is the last digit of my birth year, 1987. The story long since changed it's name to "Trial in Manifest" but the unsername lingers on, eventually being my M.U.G.E.N tagname, The Aboriginal One

B. Marquis - Brandon Marquis, my first and first middle name

The Dreamslayer = A wrestling name I used back when I was a teenager wrestling in the back yard. Started using it online.

Just No Point = Named after my website www.justnopoint.com, I wanted a name that would practically cover ANYTHING I wanted to host. Unlike NewWaveMugen which was named for mugen [duh], I figured since there was really no point to anything I do the site's name could reflect that.

I attribute The Dreamslayer to the guy that spent all his time on MUGEN, Just No Point is my comic making user name which festered and took control over TDS in a symbiotic fashion.
I have the feeling if i ever changed it properly or my avatar people would think i was dead for a little while.

Seriously Dreamslayer, funny you mention that as I used mine in a similar way although when I was given the nickname I used it for backyard wrestling and my nickname for when I wrestled on my High School wrestling team.  :sugoi:

Also I suppose like the others I can give a small explanination on how I came about to Door Mat Kid then later just DMK.

One night while having some random party during the summer of my first year of highschool I had gotten so tired I literaly fell asleep on a friends porch and was woke up the next morning laying on top of the Doormat.  ;P

Friend woke me up and said "Hey get up Doormat boy come inside!"

Then it eventualy threw playful gestureing "Doormat Kid".

Later a friend in my third year of Highschool put it down to DMK and became my nickname threw the rest of my years there. I even liked it and asked for teachers to even use. It stuck well, isn't used that much and I feel it's a simple name to remember and makes life easier for others.  :D

That and it's a bajillion times better then "Taylor". Fucking parents and wanting to use a girls name for a boy. AWE

Post by: OZ on August 05, 2008, 06:05:14 am
Yeah, wonder where my name came from...

I'd always liked the concept of Oz, the great and powerful.
(I remember reading the original Wizard of Oz around 8th grade as well. Silver slippers, Crucifix of gold , etc.)
So the first forum I joined, I tried out the name Oz.

It kinda stuck.
I've used other names, such as Dr. Kevorkian and Faust.
To keep from being confusing, I try to keep the name standard, so those have been converted to Dr. Oz.

Most places they just call me Oz, regardless of titles or adjectives.

L. Frank Baum
1800's mumbo jumbo, when it was used during the debates in which the 'common man' tried to change the gold standard and get silver added to the monetary system.
The entire story is basically one big metaphore; Oz standing for ounces, the yellow brick road obviously refering to gold, and the slippers were silver. When the movie was made the creators changed them to ruby slippers to take advantage of the new color possibilities brought to them by Technicolor.

You can see silver in black and white, I suppose they thought it would impress the kids to go ruby.

And the crucifix was not actually in the story, but William Jennings Bryan's "Cross of Gold" speech was closely linked to it, and both came about around the same time.

Of course the 'common man' lost the fight, so it's original context has more or less been forgotten.

The first time I went into an IRC channel (about year 97) I decided to go by the name 'GaRgOyLe' because that's my favorite mythological creature and used it for almost a year. At this point, some idiot registered the nick 'gargoyle' and suddenly I had to go by another username. That's why I added the letter X in front of the name, resulting in the 'XGargoyle' everybody knows.

Names:

WaruiGouki: Something stupid I came up with when I started Japanese 101 and learned that Warui was an adjective to attach to shit. Gouki actually had nothing to do with the Street Fighter one, but from the YYH Gouki who was the first real demon Yusuke fought. Dude was bad-ass, but then his we are dumb fucks spamming this site for ten years buddies Kurama and Hiei ended up being main characters. Go figure.

Jango: Named after a minor character from One Piece, not to be confused with the bounty hunter from Star Wars Episode II. Also pronounced "Jah-n-go" instead of "Jang-go" like most people think. Went with the name partially because I related to the character's unusual personality.

Current: Antagonist of Grim Fandango (holy fuck not an anime character). I'd go into detail but I'd end up spoiling the game's story, and I assume nobody here has played it.

YES I SUCK AT COMING UP WITH UNIQUE USERNAMES

The word "ashram" refers to a Hindu place for hermits, or a place where people could meet with spiritual/mystical leaders. I didn't really pick the name based on that ... I got it from Record of Lodoss War.

But I like its original meaning as well, so it just stuck.

2D Mirage: A name a made up while making programs on my TI-83 Plus calculator to symbolize a completely flat mirage in a desert as opposed to a full head on hallucination that you can interact with in your mind.  Little did I know that I'd later become obsessed with sprites which gives this name an entirely new feeling/meaning.

2D Mirage: A name a made up while making programs on my TI-83 Plus calculator to symbolize a completely flat mirage in a desert as opposed to a full head on hallucination that you can interact with in your mind.  Little did I know that I'd later become obsessed with sprites which gives this name an entirely new feeling/meaning.

now, being the calc nerd that I am, I coulda mistaken that with MirageOS

@Hoshi

So, what was the wrong definition?
Originally, whilst looking through an English<->Japanese dictionary "hoshi" was part of another word that mean't "wanting" or something of the sort.  I don't remember exactly.  It was before I knew as much Japanese as I do now.

And to explain my other alias futher, it was between 2D Mirage or Evil Magnum.  Thank GOD I stuck with 2D Mirage.

The Day of Ashura is an Islamic holy day, one that I believe is dedicated towards Islamic martyrs ... don't quote me on that specific detail.
Asura (sometimes Ahura) is a group of Hindu deities or, in Buddhism, is a word used to describe the lowest level of deities.

What makes it difficult for the Japanese (from my experience anyway, I've only had brief discussion about this with Japanese from the Nagano prefecture) is the presence of the "su" and "shiu" sounds, which, if not pronounced carefully, can almost be interchangeable to the ear.

The nickname i start using once for an art contest when i was around 13/14 (2º place  :) ). Since that day i use it everytime i have to choose a nickname or i don't want to use my real name (some of my friends call me like that). Sometimes you'll find my name next to the number 619 ... only thing i can say about that is it has nothing to do with rey misterio.

You probably already know Baby Bonnie Hood (red-hooded bounty hunter girl from Darkstalkers), so I'll skip that.

I name myself around here after my WIPs.  And currently it's Raffine, a character from the Puyo Puyo puzzle games (the later Fever series, to be more specific).  Her name means "refined" in French, which fits her as she's a stuck-up ohohoho-ing (in Japanese) bitch who thinks herself better than anyone else.  And I like her for it ;D

I have made absolutely zero progress on trying to make her for MUGEN though, opting instead to play the games she's from this entire time.  Whee.....

Comes from an old anime I used to watch (which i don't remember) where the anti-hero/semi-villain's ultimate move was named "King of Darkness" in which a giant black hole formed over earth and a huge beast would come out of it obliterating the opposing force and it looked really cool :P

Mine just comes from an old handle I gave myself back during the Perfect Dark days. I went with it on an old message board and it just stuck.

"Shin" shouldn't really need explaining, as there's so many "shins" out there. "Ryoga" is a character I felt I related to when I was a big Ranma 1/2 fan. Ryoga was generally a really nice guy but could have a short fuse, a hopeless romantic, and had a bad sense of direction.  --;

From what I heard it got nerfed a couple times in the PS2 games.

And that's unfortunate, because if you could carry the damn thing you were a force to be reckoned with in the PSX games. However, I've grown detached to it... but not a lot.

As far as PSX games goes (as they're the only one's I've played), my main weapon was that 10 shot energy sniper rifle with 3800 attack. And 22000 range. Not even pre-nerfed 9800 attack Large missile launcher from Project Phantasma has that range.

I've played the first three a lot and I've had experience with just about every weapon of those games.

Title: The inspiration behind your alias?
Post by: Luigi Master on February 05, 2009, 07:01:45 am
Some people might have interesting stories behind their aliases, some might not.  If you were ever itching (which is highly unlikely) on explaining why you chose your particular alias, this is the place to post it and for the WHOLE WORLD TO SEE!  MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAH!

Anyway, about my alias (Luigi Master).

I was in highschool,  I think Junior grade.  I was randomly walking around and I saw kids playing SSBM in one of the music rooms during break.  I decided to join in and put my scrubbish Captain Falcon (surprised?  just keep reading) skills to the test.  I lost every time I played as him, and I tried many, many other characters, including Mr. Game and Watch and Ice Climbers.  I decided to choose Luigi, with whom I was somewhat familiar with, beat the so called "C-stick spammers", and it seemed as if I found my "main" (a character one uses the most often/best).  Then there was this fat guy, and he asked me "Are you the Luigi master they're talking about?", and this name stuck to me ever since.  I started writing bullcrap stories regarding my overglorified yet pathetically weak persona for pretty much anything, to the point I adopted it as my alias on just about everything.

Now it's your turn.

When I first joined the world of forums, I was trying to come up with an alias, and Oz came to mind.

Oz became the staple.
I found I could change the rest of the title for special occasions.

Hoshi:  I was expecting it to be based on SFTM's Ryu, since his last name was Hoshi.  Quite unpredictable.

And Basara:  Hmm, at first I thought your name was based on "Basara KO", but I've later seen Basara from SamSho, so I assumed you got it from there.

At first I was Naughty Budgie, and some places that won't fit, so I'm N Budgie. Then I played the original Shin Megami Tensei games, and they were awesome. If my japanese is right, then Kyouchou means "Evil Bird". Also, Kyouchou was a monster clan name in SMT, where the naming for monsters would go "[Clan] [Monster]". So my name sounds like an SMT demon.

Memphis = the city I live in (the city of angels, lonley as I am..together we cry) jk
Man = my gender (otherwise I have quite an odd growth between my legs!)
X = cuz I moved out of the city when I first made this nick. (I have since returned)
MemphisManX = a play on Mega Man X (Mega Man is one of my favorite series.)
I use this everywhere I go. It is my universal net persona.
I first chose this name so that a friend of mine who moved to Canada years ago would know that it was me on chat progs and BB posts. (he's a big fan of Mega Man as well)
So that's it. I picked a name that signified that I no longer resided in memphis and referenced Mega Man as well. Yay for me....

My username is several puns put together:

1. Shin being that a character's hair is white so in a sense Shin Orochi from Dynasty warriors is a pun to Shin characters. Look at his R1 special and it is apparent that he does an Akuma-esque attack (which is unblockable hur hur).

2. Orochi being what orochi character are in the mugen community which is an overpowered character with the exact same moveset (again look at Orochi vs Shin orochi in the series).

3. When put together Shin Orochi is a pun to what they will think of next in the mugen community. If Omega Evil Dark Shin Violent Orochi Ken is a character, then Shin Orochi WAS a character at some point (ha ha! logic).

4. And lastly Shin Orochi was the name they gave him before it was turned into an Amercian bastardization of Orochi X. Hmm maybe X will be the new "evil", "dark", or even "orochi."

Being that I am a dynasty fan I can say I am a geek for it as well. Yay fanboyism!

My name, "Zerox" was a name I came up with several years ago. When I made it I was able to search it and not find anything simililar but since then my name has appeared in use by other people which is nice in some ways and crappy in others. My name is Zerox, NOT ZERO X. I noticed that it could be understood as such when someone called me that. It had never occurred to me that it did look like such. My name is pronounced Zeer-ox. It was just something I made up so really it didn't come from anywhere. Course it may have just been that at the time I had heard the name of the Company Xerox but I did not realize that it was practically the same with a different spelling. It wasn't intended though because I didn't think of that company at all when I was making my name. When I was making it I had just been cleaning the bathroom recently and so I had used Clorox glass cleaner and so I thought I wanted something like that but something that sounded cooler and thus my name was born.

Isn't "shiro" means white instead of "shin"? Shin Gouki(Akuma)'s hair isn't white though, God Rugal is.

He looks like Prince Arthas. Turns out he's the Lich King of the Undead.

Shin Orochi is so overpowered none of his specials and Musous are blockable and his moves make Lu Bu and Honda Tadakatsu look like mere sheeps compared to him.

Orochi X seems to copy Megaman X I think, the C1 attack?

To me, the only best series ever released by Koei is WO2 : Maou Sairin, DW6 fails, DW6 Exp worse! They are doing a Saiyan which is so cocky I faint.

I never saw a ruler that spoke in third person.

Anyway, "OrochiGill" or "Orochi Gill" was a couple of names I tossed together when I first appeared at Infantry in August 2007, and the name stuck so I went with that.

"The Toxic Avenger" is a low-budget b-movie from 1984, with loads of gore and killing, about a healthclub janitor who's the town nerd who falls in nuclear waste then becomes a "creature of superhuman size and strength", and "the first superhero from New Jersey", The Toxic Avenger. The movie is loads of awesome.

Title: Re: What does your username mean?
Post by: Great Leader Kevin Rudd on March 15, 2009, 06:40:21 am
No, not actual language, I'm talking about just getting confused over what language it was. I kinda owned myself way back in Jerk Store when you told me to be quiet in Hindi, and my translator couldn't identify your language, so I had no idea what language you were speaking in. Except it was right there on your signature. If you don't remember it, that's understandable. I guess you've got better things to keep your mind occupied.

FrOEk -- Back in Middle School I got what would be the equivalent to detention and they made me complete some exercises from previous years. one of them was an english exercise which consisted in descramble some words. One of the words was "Fork" which was scrambled as "Frok". I took it as my taggin' name for some years (before "Krash" and "Phiros") then I added an "E" and used it online as "FrOEk" resembling "10110". Then I changed the "O" for "0" or "Ø".

brØkn_glØw -- my nick when I mix (I don't like the "DJ" shit). When I was a little kid I used to LOVE math and I wanted to become a chemist like my oldest sister (both she and her husband are industrial chemists). I was once called "a brilliant kid with a lot of future in whatever he chooses to be". Throughout the years, I've been shattering that "brilliance". One day at a time. Now... The glØw has been brØkn.

Chen Yakumo is a Touhou character, one of my favourites. Coincidentially, every single family member used to call me "Chennnnnn!!" everytime they wanted to ask or tell me to do something, I find this very very suitable, it is as though as it's my actual name.

Keep it for some more time before going back to Lucky Charat.

maximilian jenus as per my favorite macross character, the name is originally maximilian jenius, but I find the last part to be too pretentious.

Di Gi Charat is one of my two favourite animes, so I took "Charat". At that time I was thinking of what to put in front, then I realised I was playing Motteke Serahuku in O2Jam, so I put in "Lucky".

Too bad he gets killed by something else at the end of the game. I've would have liked to have ended his life.

At the least he would have had a dignified death.

Also he had a gunblade, a weapon you yourself could earn if you were awesome enough. And holy shit if he used that thing to its fullest on me he'd OHKO me all the time, especially since it's a sword-*shotgun*.

The Question is my favorite DC character. Plus I really like Ditko.

A ≡ A is the law of identity in Aristotelian logic. It means something is itself and nothing else. The 3 bar equals sign means ' is always' in opposed to '=' which which shows that something is under the correct circumstance. For example, 2 equals (=) 2 under the circumstance that 1 + 1 or 2 - 1, etc. But a thing is always (≡) itself and nothing else.

this is your pathetic attempt at trying to hit on darkgirl
That would be bad because she already has to deal with this guy (http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?action=profile;u=9490), he is trying to hit on her and some other "girl" at the Spanish topic. Heck he even tried to get into [E]'s pants because he was using an anime girl avatar (true story).

My original username (Jdplayer) is based off of my initials (J.D.P) and the word "Player". I actually began to use this name in Runescape (I still can't believe that I used to play this...), and it just stuck.

My current username is the name of my Original (Self-insert) character and current WIP.
