What's up guys a few years back I started a debate here as well other forums about the best cartoon openings and I finally got around to making a top 10 list so check it out and let me know what you guys think. I gave the forum a shout out in the video so hopefully that can generate a little traffic for the site.

Calm, calm... Would say FOR ME (Non-Japanese stuff) Beast Wars, theres something in the sounds of it that stills makes my skin... Amazing! Tho ery simple.
Now if include Japanese anime on 90´s TV? Would say Dragon Ball GT opening since had a really really nostalgia blind theme (in spanish atleast)

Objectively the best opening of all time:
They had one of the writers sing it so they wouldn't have to hire an actual singer and he showed up to the studio drunk, did the whole thing in a mediocre Paul Lynde impression, messed up the words, and that was still the take they ended up using. I defy you to show a me a production team that gave less of a fuck than that.

Well, this is gonna get messy, since many countries had their own version for their language. Some stuck with the US version, but others had translated lyrics, no lyrics, remixed tunes or even original songs
But yeah, the GT song in Japanese is also great.

I grew up as an Asian kid here in Europe. During the early to mid 90s, we used to hire videotapes with anime in the time anime wasn't a thing. At least not where I live, I know some places do. Back then I used to be that (cool) kid that never fit in, I watched Dragon Ball (Z) when everyone else only knew the typical western stuff.
When Pokémon came over during the late 90s/early 2000s some other animes followed. It felt like salvation, finally we could talk about the same shows I liked! But then everyone else was too old to watch cartoons -_- DBZ was the only exception though.
Sorry just felt nostalgic lol

I decided to save the Japanese openings to shows for a future video and as for DuckTales that's I never got excited to see the show but it definitely was a great song but that's planned for a different list in the future as well.

Ah, to be moved to tears by the joyful, childhood memories associated with such timeless, animated themes. I thoroughly relished the excuse to revisit the likes of Batman, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Heathcliff, and TMNT (though, among those already mentioned, I was expecting the inclusion of Inspector Gadget, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, Snorks, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, etc). ^_^

I came in when thundercats was on the way out so I knew of it just wasn't old enough to become a fan, as for gargoyles it definitely wasn't forgotten it's a great show and it belongs on the best cartoons list not just the openings

so were doing old school japanese cartoons now? i watched japanese cartoons based on popular novels and their ops were the best. and this is much how asia stereotype europeans. my favourite are these two... there were alot of them , there's peter pan , prince cedei , little women , anne of green gables , every popular book that existed back then had an anime version there were fucking tons of them. and they would air it in the mornings everyday , that was before celebrity scandals and intelligence degrading talk shows were introduced in our tv. after 3 or 4 animes it would be followed by a science show or history show depending what day it was. and anime shows that are considered violent like dragonball , voltron ,mazinger z and voltes v were aired at night. i even watched ranma1/2 uncensored back then.

Cool topic! I have a playlist of just intros on youtube I watch to inspire me when I need to animate.
When I think of my top 10 cartoon/animated intros of all time I consider the amount of frames used, timing of frames, shot transitions,and movement of camera.
A lot of people just go right to their favorite music themes. I go for the high impact, and snappy animation.
There are some doubles here in Cases where I couldn't choose between the first opening or second. In those cases you can just pick either.
Japanese X-men intros. Thundercats Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 87/ first intro. G- Gundam intos Dragonar intros.
Shippu Iron Leaguer
Megaman Tekkaman Blade intros. Bionic 6 Men in Black
Honorable mentions: Hulk 1997, Silver Hawks, Visionaries, Gundam 0083, Galaxy Rangers, COPS, Jushin Thunder Liger, Gundam Wing, Robin Hood, All GI Joe Real American Hero, Swat Kats season 2, Dennis the Menace 2nd intro,The Real Ghostbusters.

Its not a great cartoon but it does have the best intro ever. King Arthur and the knights of justice. Go watch if you haven't seen it yet. It is everything an 80s intro should be.
Honourable mentions to the bots master, conan the adventurer,bucky ohare, gargoyles and dinosaucers. And denver the last dinosaur.

When they started having Robin more of a regular on Batman: TAS I never understood why they didn't make a new animated opening. They just smashed clips together from the show. So lazy. Something similar to the classic opening would have been pretty slick if you ask me.

Yeah, there were a lot of those; even on the video game side with all the animal mascots trying to be the next Sonic.

Side note. I bought the first 4 issues of this at my comic store. I had never watched the cartoon, but I had seen the intro in a few intro lists. It pains me to say that the art was NOT GOOD! It was bland, lifeless, and BORING! I hope the people who worked on the comic got a tuna sandwich and a small bag of plain potato chips as payment, a for those garbage comics .
