hii was asking myself if it was possible in a stage with rain to make it so that the rain drops would touch any characters ? example: multiple drops splash when they hit randomly (around the sprite)might be a stupid question but maybe...
It's something that'd have to be coded in the characters, so can't/shouldn't be done for the common Mugen.
Best you can do is ground contact. Cos you can more or less set the sprite's of rain up to know where the ground is. Character contact is a clsn box thing.Stages do not do clsn boxes at all. That's probably the best response to anyone looking into stage interactivity. Stages don't do clsns.
I forgot what stage it was but it had the ground contact twice. Once on the ground and another about the shoulders of the chars. This although in a cheep manner gave a look of contact on the characters and on the floor.

I got some good news and some bad news. Good news is i found the stage.Bad new it was updated and the shoulder hight raindrops were removed because others said it looked like shit of the first release. Here is your info:[Info]name = "DMC3 Tower"OriginalGame = "Devil May Cry 3"author = "Teros"email = "inlineshadow@yahoo.com"versiondate = 11/28/2007mugenversion = 04,14,2001credits = kyo-k for rain, ALL sprites made by me, ask permission before use!!!Esnips might have the un-updated version but even if does not you can see the rain contact layers and how they were done in the .SFF file.Just need to move one of the layers up to shoulder hight. Of course the problem is that even when there is no one there you have rain drop contact and people complained about that saying it looked weird to them.I hope this helped.
now, i'm no codeing expert, and this topic may be a little too old to post in, but i just had a crazy idea, though wether or not its possible is another thing.what if you did some crazy layer trick, where the shoulder raindrops were over the characters but under the BG, or put a mist up that was thick enough to obscure the rain by itself but the characters would disturb it enough that you would only see it on them.thats more like two ideas but they could both be implamented.edit: or what if there was a shoulder high object in the background, so when the characters were not standing in that part of the rain it looks like its hitting the background object.or a reverse blackjack trick with the rain in thin colloumbs.(damn caffiene pills)
Quoteover the characters but under the BGI'm afraid you have to invent a fifth dimension for that, since the character is already over the BG.
yeah, i was just thinking out of the box (well, more like out of my head), but it made sense at the time.but the more i think about it a reversed blackjack trick sounds very doable.
