System changes
  • Buffering Step 2 (buffering and command interpretation now handled the same as CvS2).
  • Dizzy system fixes

Felicia changes
  • New portrait by Flowery-tan.
  • All hitboxes remade... for like the 5th time.

Buffering Step 2 detailed in buffering.vns. You can use the updated tool to create the commands in the same style with ease after base implementation. Please be aware that there are some differences between writing commands for this system and writing them for MUGEN.

I was wondering why Alex's voice was somehow switching back to his custom to SF3.  Other than that issue, he plays sweet.

Love the new Felicia portrait.  Was it commissioned?

It's not quite custom, it's from the earlier sf3 games (second impact and new generation).. and Micheal Jackson. Not sure what prompts it to play over the normal voice, though.

Ah, I see, it has UNIX line endings. Probably happened when one of my scripts ran through it.

Fixed in the archive, though if you want to fix it yourself without redownloading (nothing else has changed), you can open it in Notepad++ or Sublime Text and set the line endings to Windows. Opening it in Fighter Factory and saving should also fix it.

Thanks, Gui. That video just made me notice a huge bug: Stun Gun Headbutt won't dizzy when dizzy is disabled.


Fixed and reuploaded.

Fun fact: when dizzy is disabled, that move is actually always guaranteed to dizzy because it won't use dizzy points. In the original games, that move being able to dizzy depends completely upon stun value. So disabling dizzy for Alex makes that move stronger.

There's a joke between my friends and I that NG/2I Alex sounds like Michael Jackson (or it may even be players in general, IDK) . I've always said it's easier to get things done when you don't take them seriously, so I added 2I voices and for clips that don't exist or where I think they're more comedically effective, I added Moonwalker clips in place. So I just made an alternate voice for him during testing and then just randomized it later and left it there because why not.

Haha! I was pretty sure it was something like that!
It's true that his NG/2I voices sounds like Michael Jackson.
I had this feeling as well.

I have to admit when I first tried your character, the different voiceset sounded strange (NG+2I) compared to 3.3.
But If mixes up well finally.
And at first I started imagining that thoses strange (MJ voices) where actually in NG/2I as unused voices :D

What is happened to Felicia's command input now? Now the command input is very difficult to execute. Even a simple QCF command now I cannot execute it. Before this update, her command input is just fine.
It is very annoying because now I can't do a single special move now. :(

I tried using keyboard and gamepad input and it is very difficult now. Looked like the culprit is your new buffering input system. Your input command timing is very strict now. Yes as I remember the original cvs2 input is very strict too.
I have fixed it by modifying the cmd file. I changed back all the special command input to normal mugen way (no more using helper) and it is working fine now on keyboard and gamepad.

Just got home. I can do them on keyboard just fine as well. I can even consistently pull off 360's which I find hard to do with Warusaki's Zangief.

Yes, warusaki's characters input command are fine because it is still using normal mugen input system (not using buffering helper).

the character itself is great, but I feel that the buffering system makes it feel a bit off

Using the var method makes for a slight delay in inputs which for me atleast, makes it kinda harder than it should be to perform the moves. I can still perform em, I just need to take a sec to adjust myself physically to get used to the delay.

Time for me to enter the row or people, complaining about Alex's hard controls.
I personally can easily do classic commands like Quarter Circles, Half Circles or Shoryukens. Also, have no problems with all the supers, including Full Circle ones. But God Damn Me, somehow I totally CAN'T PULL OFF A F*CKIN' CHARGES!
Well, all in all, a really decent Alex. But this inability to control him at his full kinda makes him look worse.

I've had 0 issues on this build of alex. But I plan on recording input attempts on all 3 environments (keyboard, pad, stick) later on to get to the bottom of this.

I haven't had any issues on any of Alex's commands either. Normally I do have issues with incorrect charge commands but haven't had any issues in this case.

No issues here, charges are completely fine.

Commands were a tiny bit rigid on pad (far from impossible though) but no problem on keyboard, so probably just me being lazy with the dualshock.

Step yall game up, theres nothing wrong with his commands.
The buffer system is 110% better than mugens buggy cmd system.
One thing I noticed about mugen is that the default cmd system
Feels really loose, its super easy to pull shit off unlike "real" fight
Games. So if you got complacent with mugen, I suggest you play
Some cvs2 to refresh your muscle memory lol.

I use a keyboard, and I've played CvS2 with one quite a bit, so my muscle memory is pretty good. Yet I still have serious issues pulling off commands here. F,D,DF only seems to work when I input F, D, F; charge down, up I've gotten to work exactly once; charge back, forward only sees to activate if I charge back, then do a half circle forward. This is all decidedly not the case when I play CvS2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm starting to wonder if there's some weird, esoteric hardware issue going on that's causing such differing experiences.

I see most issues seem to be coming from keyboard users. I just tried him and I'm having no issue. The charge command works without a HCF motion. I'm using a pad + XPadder.

I don't know what the issue could be with keyboards but I know some are really finicky when it comes to combinations and the way they deal with auto presses when you hold the buttons may be causing issues as well?

Anyway, he did have a debug error about remappal can;t map 1,1 to 1,0 on startup.

Other than that he's feeling pretty solid in my test. I'd probably have to do some IRL vs to really know if any motions feel off at this point.

Idk guys, I'm using a PS2 controller and the old Namco PS1
Tekken fight stick and it works fine on my end.
Like Jmorphman said it could be hardware related.
Or try Xpadder like JNP, that might give it a different feel
Than using the controller xinput drivers if using a pad.

Just chiming in as a keyboard user, I have no issues pulling off any commands, except for any dp's. Can only finish the commands with F, not DF.

Yes, I know. But come on, my cpu specs is still capable enough for playing mugen before this case. Even my laptop is still capable to use fxaa shadder filter using reshade.

Tested Alex on a logitech pad and i have no issues performing moves. Hell, i perform the moves better than i usually do on mugen. It felt like i was actually playing on a console.
It's all the same in the end, matter and motion, simple or complex. No difference, finally. Death, transfiguration. Ashes to ashes and slime to slime, amen.

Alright, guys, I did find issues with the buffering (in particular investigating issues with the DP led me to the solution). The bugs should be squashed now and inputs should be a lot easier.

The moves feel great, I can finally do everything...
But NOW he is like on "Turbo" Buttons. Any attack I HOLD rapidly repeated. And that's stable.

Thanks a lot. But now I have one more glitch for you to fix, even though this one could be a different problem from buffering.
Try to beat your enemy (I personally used KFM here) with Alex's HK only to knock him into Stun with one HK at the beginning of the next round.

As far as I know, Stun should be reset at the beginning of the new round. But this ain't happening.

Thank you for the input fix, Jesuszilla.

Btw I found bug on Alex's Power Bomb damage on target. It ignores var(22) on some characters for example cvsrobert.
So the damage is treated as low version only because it ignores high and medium input version.

Found the cause of both. The dizzy issue was this. Order of operations with := are fucking weird.

The one yudhiyou mentioned was because I had a weird condition in there that must've been leftover from an early revision where Var(32) was something else.


Currently in the midst of fixing a few more things, then I'll update again, but just wanted to let you guys know those have been fixed and will be uploaded probably sometime within the next day. Mainly wanted to post due to that first one because seriously, don't make that mistake. You've seen what it leads to.

Yeah, me too. That is why I have to modify the cmd file to use default mugen input system.
The buffering system is still broken. it accidentally executes undesired move too like dashing on some situation because it is buffering the input. :)

I am also having the same issue and i'm using a pad. I downloaded both versions of Felicia today and the issue is only with the cvs version. The only move i can perform is her lvl 3 super and even that is inconsistent.
It's all the same in the end, matter and motion, simple or complex. No difference, finally. Death, transfiguration. Ashes to ashes and slime to slime, amen.

Damn, really sorry about that. This is just not my week... sorry this one took so long; I've been working unpaid overtime this entire weekend.

I also forgot to mention in the original release notes (now amended) that Felicia's hitboxes were changed. However, with these, I forgot to update her Rolling Uppercut velocities! So that's been fixed too.

I also made the dashing tighter, hopefully for good this time, and removed dizzying during chain combos (which shouldn't have happened ever but apparently I missed something).


Again, really sorry about the lack of testing; these past two weeks I've worked over 90 hours. I feel like total death right now.

There is infinite juggle bug on your characters, jesuszilla.
I have tried to fix it by putting these lines on state 5050 on cvssystem.lol and common1.cns file:

[State 5050, no juggle]
type = NotHitBy
trigger1 = canrecover && Vel Y > 0
value = SCA

OK, fixed...

It need to put these lines on 5040 state too:

[State 5040, 4]
type = NotHitBy
trigger1 = HitOver
value = SCA

Infinite juggle on cvs characters have been fixed.

I feel like there's a disconnect in what is character is doing what to whom. If he's saying your chars can infinitely juggle yeah that's a problem. If he's saying that other chars can infinitely juggle them that is not the fault of jesuszilla nor warusaki3. It's literally and only the issue of the character doing the juggling. What you've posted is not a custom state so it's not the fault of the jugglee(going with that I guess, the person being juggled is now the jugglee!)

what character were you using cause that would be a lot more helpful than "hey I fixed this thing for you even though im not sure what im doing". It's like slapping duck tape on a tire because it fixes the fact that it was flat without explaining if that tire was ever attached to anything.

I am sorry, jesuszilla. I don't mean that. I mean this is bug on a whole mugen. Not your character.
That is why the modification is on common1.cns file. That was happened because I have disabled the ctrlset on state 5040 too.
Because Street Fighter or CVS char shouldn't able to punish after being attacked on air, right.

Well there are ways to do that properly. Usually people use air.hittime=99 BUT that can lead to ground unblockables but at the very least the you can change your character, the one who used that air.hittime, to be unable to hit them as they land thus fixing the problem for everyone your char fights without touching any char but your own. I hope that makes sense. Alternatively most people just custom state for the best results but you should NEVER alter the common1.cns unless its a whole game of chars meant to use it universally. aka a full game.

either look at the movelist picture that's inside the character's folder or edit the cmd file to make the command for that super seem simple to do

Yep, I botched. I forgot to change the var for HCBx2, which interfered with HCFx2.

I also fixed the damage on close s.HP, as well as the follow-up to Rolling Scratch.

Felicia's crouching HK with distant very close won't hit on some character like cvs Poison by tjun.

Seems I fucked it up with a rogue varSet on the reversed command. Had it tested on stick and keyboard (though keyboard is hard to do for me and now my wrist hurts; from what a REALLY good keyboard player is telling me, it seems double half circle commands are hard to do on keyboard in general). Would test on pad but since that's the middle ground, it should be easier than keyboard but slightly harder than stick.

TL;DR should be fixed now.

It works now! I use a keyboard with Mugen and have no problems pulling off the HC motions.

Well I updated Felicia again today. Seems I forgot to set her juggles correctly for Rolling Uppercut. Oops.

I've updated Alex. I fixed the damage on his s.MP since it was really low. Turns out I forgot to modify one of the numbers. If we could just use functions, that would have never happened...

Alex's data page is now up as well. In fact, that's what led to me finding this little forgotten detail. You can also use the page to make your own config file, right down to the MJ voice:

I've detected a small visual bug in Alex. When Jmorphman's Demitri uses Midnight Bliss on Alex, he turns invisible.


EDIT: I also wanted to mention another bug I found. If Alex uses his Stun Gun Headbutt on a character who cannot be stunned (Like P.O.T.S.'s Shin Gouki), then the "dizzy" sound effect will loop endlessly. It can only be stopped by doing the move on the opponent again.

Actually, if Alex REALLY didn't have MB compatibility, then it SHOULD switch to the default sprites...

However, Alex doesn't do this. So, in a strange way, he does have MB compatibility... but the sprites are completely blank!

Yeah, that's quite an oversight. I have the MB animation in there, but it's blank (take a wild guess who I built this character on top of). Removed and reuploaded. Though if anyone wants to provided a proper MB for Alex (I refuse to use CFJ's lazy version), feel free to let me know!

That's really strange, I can't seem to be able to dizzy him, even with other characters with stun moves (like CrazyKoopa and Jmorphman's Ryo level 3 super)...
To answer your question though, JNP's improved KFM also can't be stunned by the move... for some reason (even though other stun moves work on him, such as the aforementioned Ryo super). I also have Dizzy turned off in the config file, so I'm not sure if this bug happens if the opponent is stunned through means other than the Stun Gun Headbutt.

Oh no, this is different. Here, KFM and PotS's Shin Gouki (although apparently JZ can stun Gouki just fine...) only stay stunned for about a nanosecond after Stun Gun Headbutt is performed, and the "dizzy" sound effect loops forever until the move is performed on them again. KFM works fine with other stun moves (such as Ryo's level 3 super), but I think Shin Gouki is supposed to be un-stunnable. I tried changing KFM's liedown time myself just to make sure, and it wouldn't do anything, so rest assured, this has nothing to do with that. It might have something to do with the way JZ's stun system works, IDK.

Yeah, what I do is basically a callback from a helper. When they enter the dizzy state, it spawns one helper that spawns other helpers for the graphics, and another helper for the sound (so it can loop properly).

Try changing the last 3 SCTRLs in State 782 to this and tell me if it works:
