Color '0' isn't working (Problem UnSolved)

I'm following all the tutorials I can find, and doing what they say, but nothing happens. I change the Color '0' to hot pink, and save as a pcx. but when it's transfered into Mugen, the black color is transparent, and not the set color.

I've tried using Infraview as well, but it does the same thing.

Am I doing something wrong?

(This is for stage and Lifebar creation, not character creation)

I'm using photoshop, BTW! (And please, No "Get PSP" answers)

  • I got a PM.
The pal file in mugen needs to be changed.

Use FF to make a pal from the first sprite you made.

Your pink color is nowhere near slot 0, not even slot 255.
The order of the colors in the palette in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro are reversed. It's the slot 0 in PSP, but in PhotoShop, it's the last slot, the 255, bottom right.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

EDIT: I'm having problems with the "Black" again.

EDIT2: You know what...screw it, i'm getting sick and tired of this crap. It works for Characters, but not for everything else.

Can someone point me to a tutorial or something that can explain what the hell is going on.

Edit the palette
put the color you want to be transparent on the last slot
save the palette, not the sprite
revert the change
load the palette onto the sprite

When you switch the colors the first time, the pink will become black (or green) that's why you have to revert the change
then when you load the palette, the pînk will be forcibly associated with the last slot.

One given pixel is associated with one of the slots. At first, that slot, in the middle of the palette, is pink. when you switch the colors, that slot becomes black, but the pixel is still associated with that black. So you have to save the palette (not the sprite) and revert the change.
When you load the palette (with Photoshop) it will forcibly reassociate the pixel with the pink it finds in the palette - that is, the last slot. So now, the pixel will be associated with the last slot instead of the one in the middle of the palette.

If that doesn't help, please EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN WITH "I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BLACK". This alone doesn't mean anything and won't let anyone give you any solution. Describe exactly what you do and what you get.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

Sorry about that, I was just getting irritated.

I've done what you've said, and it worked.

Thank you so much, I've been struggling with this, since deciding to create stages. You've just lifted some weight from my shoulders.

The "Black" problem was, when I was putting the saved PCX into Fighter Factory, and loaded it up in Mugen, the Black dissapeared.
