Yup...I think it's time for showing(or at least, talking) something about my WiPs. I'm working in a project which it will all given a similar graphic style(CvS/CvS+). I started time ago with Rose, whose sprites were released time ago. After her, I started making a Cammy (Delta Red) and C.Viper, but after a HD crash, I took a small time just for me. In Cammy's case, was a great OWNED, because I was nearly finishing her gethits(the mooooooost boring part to sprite), and about Viper, I finished her gethits, but those were easy: just a cvsKing-palette swap+small fixes here and there for making her look like the SFer.

So, enough chit chat. Here's a list of what's done till this moment. Not only with both two, there are more people in.

Rose

Yeah, again the seer. Although her appearance on my game is not canon(remember that SF-IV is just an upgraded SF2, not following saga's time-line), she'll be part of it due to storyline, as part of someone's memories. Her sprites are finished but:
- 1 new kick
- Soul Drill(new move)
- Some win pose transformations
- New intro&Win

Chun Li

Her CvS2 sprites miss something. My pack includes not only "new" moves(coming from each game she hitted in) that didn't appeared on cvs2, also has color separation. New winposes, intros, etc. I'm proud to say that she'll be the most complete Chun Li till the day. Nestor is helping me with her,  so she'll surelly be the first of the bunch on appearing.
· What's done:
- Gethits color separation
- Basic color separation
- Two special attacks color separation
- Intros and Wins color separation
- Some normal moves color separation, by Néstor.
- "New" moves. Still need some fixes and color separation.

Cammy

'Cause we all love cammo swimsuits. Her...no, no, that was not what I tried to say :P!
As I'm more focused on Viper, I just finished 26 gethits of her, and I'm thinking in give them a general fix in the boots, giving them the SFZ look, the Delta Red's are hard to do!!

Crimson Viper

Who won't love this lovely spy chick? I re-started her after that HDcrash, but this time I started using SF-IV videos from Youtube and shortly after, someone kindly sent me something to work with more comfortably :D.
Till the moment, Gethits are nearly finished, just have to finish the Chip KO(which's becoming soooo boring) and the twist. After that, I have a whole world to do but the electro uppercut(finished!) and her stand(slighty different to SF-IV's).

And here are some faks screens for you to see some advance on this. Poison and Guile sprites are thought in having a graphic update but nowadays what you see is what I've done, not more.

So, no betas, no "when will you release this?" and things like that.

I could say progress is coming along nicely!!

most advanced char is ChunLi IMO
and about C.Viper, she is pretty advanced too, at least not to say she would be dropped or unfinished

Good luck with your C.Viper!

How about a ex version of C.Viper with more moves!

For example She can use her thunder Knuckle up to three times (like Choi and Malin)

Jet Thunder Knuckle (qcb and then press in any direction: (can be performed in the air and is cancel-able after Thunder Knuckle HP)

Burring stomp (in air) : she does a dive kick version of her burring Kick!

Burring Flip: She does a single back-flip that burns the opponent in the air or in the ground!

I just can't wait to see more of Viper, Cammy and Chunli.
For Chun Li, CVS sprite type  combined to SF3-type color separations will give a good result.
And of course the new Tenshou is far better!!

This week I took a "break". Not at all, I did a spriting tutorial. Part 1 is finished and the second still needs the text to complete it.

Well, these are part of a full project. Character list has been voted and decided. Someone old will return, 2 newcomers, secret characters(with password and etc), but BY THE MOMENT, priority are these four ladies.

About the CFAS question, I contribute to that project with the chars that coincides with mine. Nestor is improving his spriting skills sprite after sprite so don't worry about that.

I'm making a palete separation for Viper too. Cammy is also having one (and nice).

But in other things, I'm on my summer house, where I don't have a PC or else to sprite T_T.

- Some news:
Chun Li:
· Blocking(stand&crouch) were done from SF3. Also, added an air state for this(sprite talking)
· Shock Sprites, directly from SF3. And they look OK :D!
· Chip KO, also coming from SF3, because I don't like the way which looks in CvS2.
· F+MK from SFZ. That kick that ressembles Guy's.
· Currently doing some other things(Misc winposes, as that coming from SF4)


C.Viper
· Color separation(jacket is now different than pants).
· Some basic things: Stand is now complete, also getting up from the floor, and the walkback. Sorry, but I lastly don't have much time, and I'm spriting in a laptop. Without mouse(and that's hard).


Cammy. I didn't do much things, same reason as Viper's. And, oh well, there's a nice color separation which can do 2 different cammy versions ;)!.

Chances are it'll work with 1.0 anyway, BC's alright for it.  Besides, winquotes are about as high on a character maker's priorities as palettes; I'd be perfectly happy adding my own one she's done.

I have to add some things, as the Focus Attack, a kick, the new throw move. ANd also some exclusive things for the whole thing, as the block, etc. Also, Electro shock has been redone.

OK, Some news...after a month without PC or even laptop, and after EXAMS(that hurts...), I re-took Viper. Some gethits are fixed, 5 of them re-done, for removing the previous cvsking on it. Also, started some special gethits(parry&blocking..not "exactly" gethtis, but receiving a hit without being hurted...I understand myself, XD; electro-shock, etc). But for now:

- Walk forward and backwards: FINISHED
- Getting up from the floor: FINISHED
- Stand: FINISHED(thanks goes to Li_Kun, I suck at doing these)
- Crouching: FINISHED
- Crouch: FINISHED(but being fixed...LOL)
- Color separation: FINISHED

(I don't know how I did these in 9 days O_o!!!)

Also, I focused more in MayaViper, so Cammy gets a "stand by" state :/.

Okeyyy...

...After exams, summer job, practices and the incoming 2 extra exams, I see it's time for talking a bit about some progress(sprite wise talking):

- Crimson Viper:
- Basic Gethits: DONE
- Special Gethits: 50%
- Dash
- Back Dash
- Getting Up from Crouch
- Side change
- Side chang crouch
- Stand
- Crouch
- Crouching
- Walk Back
- Walk Forward
- Getting up from floor

- Chun Li:
- Gethits: There's a total of 84 gethits, including some animations that are not "exactly" impact receiving, such as blocking, parry, break defense, etc. Just misses 2 things: The specific gethit against "someone's attack" and the roll, which is usually used in SF after falling to the floor in an air impact.
- Some special attacks has their color separation.
- All basics are done.
- Misc: winpose, intro, taunt, etc. I'd talk about an 80% if you're considering the WHOLE thing, but if you're going only with CvS2 had, then put a 100%.
- Rescued attacks&graphically improved things. Around 70% done.
- Some other stuff I don't remember now.

- Cammy:
- Gethits: color separation is 80% done.

I haven't advanced a lot on her, Viper, university and those things, consumed my time :(


- Rose:
- There will be some surprises on her ;)

Niice, what's the base your using? or is it custom? Honestly i would say you should rip the sprites/models/whatever from SFIV PC to help you a lot more

Hmm.....I see what occured with your default color. A bit too bright perhaps.

Still getting the hang of it.  I had two other similar ones but didn't look well to me.  So what I did is adjusted the navy blue to be a bit darker.

The MvC3 one looks to be more of an SNK style to me.

Looking at this sprite, I can't help but think that Viper seems a little short.  Maybe add a little more length on her legs or something.

The truth is that one of my first attempts was an all-black suit, but it didn't looked anything to how I picture a "CvS" style and I redid it.

Of course, it does make a nice alternate.

Cap.Com pal's skin colors looks weird.  Second tone is too bright and third tone does not blend in well.

Also, that little green color for her eyes, replace it with same colors with her glasses for more Cap.Com feel.

I use the same method to record the videos for my SF4 Golden Seth.
You can use Camtasia Player at http://www.techsmith.com/download/accessories/default.asp to play the avi movies frame by frame and rip the sprites you need.

Use the new RealPlayer (http://www.real.com), it recognizes almost all video formats (incluided FLV) and also has an option to "cut" the shot you wanted from the video and safe in a PNG image ;)

I don't want to be the prick here, but before posting, look at the date of the last post.

OK, for not doing some spam...I finished my exams last Friday and re-started things, I hope you understand I had no time for spriting. Viper and Cammy will be keep in Stand by: I want to finish Rose(fixing some things, 2x paletes, etc) and Chun Li for this March/early April.

YES!!
- Some bonus animations. Only available for certain states for certain project. Throw scape, evading combo, etc.
- Her roll from SFZ is now converted.
- Air Spinning from Tenshe Rekka is fixed.
- SF IV 2nd round victory is finished. It took me a while to think how things should be looking like, not perfect by the moment but...nearly similar. And of course, will be keep only for the same project. Time after this will be Open Source.

· Something new about the Italian seer?

NOT AT ALL!

Just added one color more to her scarf, and also separated colors in her arms, and the eyes(now are green-turquoise). Still on the gethits for the moment.

OK...after a HARD week with my new friends at work, the sea turtles(my cutiessssss *_*!!!), I found some free time when I sprited some things. I have fixed some things, specially the spinning in the tenshe rekka, fixed some details in the tenshe rekka itself(deleting brights I put with no order and etc), also added the getting up sprite I forgot to put in...Just take a look. Before someone could come and tell "hey! that's Jmorphman's!" I'd say "no, look the two sprites"

- Tensho Kyakku is fixed. Forgot about the old sheet. This is new and even it's bad(too selfish!!), I proudly can say it's better than Capcom's. I have talked with some spriters about it, and maybe the main problem is I made her leg a bbit too high, which it's a minor mistake(I hope)
- Se'en Shuu is also finished. I like how it looks, + thanks to Hades for animating it.
- Tenshe Rekka Finished
- Converting some SF3 stuff. Not sure if leave her (in air) down+mk as it's in CvS2 or converting it from SF3.

Rose:
- Basic gethits has been fixed + color separated.

That's allfor today, A bussy, bussy month with University and work+ Degree Final Project...it hurts!

I would like to, the SF3 version is much better because she looks down trying to hit the enemy instead of just throwing a random kick and hitting the enemy without even looking at him. Also I always liked the way that move looks like... on Yun :P

· GETHITS: Everything is finished, but I somehow missed to do her defense sprites(air, stand and crouch, LOOOOL)

Resurrection. Again. Yes.

Just to talk about Viper this time:

ALL her special attacks has been finished. Now she  misses:

- Focus.
- Throw 2(the one she sits on her rival and etc)
- Miss Throw.
- Ultra 1.
- Ultra 2.
- Win1.
- Win 2.
- Intro(finding a good base for her walk was a Hell, but finally came up with...Ash Crimson-Viper, xD!)

Aside these, I'm thinking in adding one or two new attacks; what do you think?
First would be:

In a SF-type of setting I don't think the eye beam is advisable. But people who want to include her in MvC style games could consider it. It's a pretty useless move in MvC anyway though as far as I've seen.

She has three. Her supers in SSF4 and MvC3 are identical with the slight exception for Burning Dance and Full Throttle which are virtually the same move they just operate a little differently.

Wow!! Thanks for the replies!!

Well, kick seems not to be welcome, so it's out :). I haven't played UMvC3, so I haven't seen that eye beam, and can't find that attack in youtube(all are Viper combos :/). If someone can help me finding that, it would be very preciated :). Aside that, the YT DLer doesn't works on my PC, even installing it again and again so it's a bit WtF.

Now, working in her ultra. I can't decide which sprite between these two:

The first looks better, but the second could be used (again) for the second ultra, since it wouldn't have to change the leg.

To be honest with you FeLo, even thought the RIGHTmost sprite has more line detail in the pants, I really don't like the hot mess that's going on in her pelvic region.

Looks like her legs connect and she has no crotch and it also makes her butt look weird...the whole area looks out of proportion and the legs don't make sense.

I have to go with the Left sprite.

Keep up the amazing work hermano. 8)

The problem is that the right one is just the left sprite redcolored. Because you didn't redraw the legs as if they really were in a different position the pelvic region looks messed up.

C. VIPER

Well, after some personal problems, another HD crash and stuff, I did somethings with Viper. Still, haven't finished but I'm now at around 53 sprites to finish her.

What's missing:
- Ultra 1: I did it. But it somehow bugs me, so MAYBE I'll change those sprites. 14 sprites to convert.
- Ultra 2: 21 sprites to convert.
- Intro: phone taling. Found a good walk base, so I just have to convert those legs. 5 spriets to convert
- Intro: as in MvC3: she "falls" from sky while speaking to her phone. 4 sprites to convert(LOL!)
- Taunt: 4 sprites to convert.
- Laser Beam: from MvC3. I have those cool screenshots, thanks to Beximus(you're supercool, man!). Still, 5 sprites to finish the animation.


And more important. After finishing these, I'll paste every sprite into a giant BMP. WHY? Just for fix wrong colours and making a deeper colour separation.

And that's it.

Now, f someone could send this topic into "sprite project" I'll be more than thankful :)!! Did myself, didn't know that authors of topics were allowed to do that :D

PS: Also, another spriter(who's awesome) and I are teaming and will start someone who's like a midget, during next month. Stay tunned!!

I'm dying to see some C. Viper samples with her default palette (or any recognizable palette from SF4, for that matter). I've always loved her design, and I'm very curious to see her in action :nice:

Just curiosity - When you visualize Viper in SF4, what stage do you imagine her in? I've been flirting with the idea of trying my hand at a SF4 stage from scratch for a while :P

I imagine her in Dictator's stage from SF2, but destroyed and some savage grass here and there, as seen in that short movie between SF2 and "SF4 Ties that binds" (and I can't find that film >o<!!). I know, it really doesn't fits her, but seeing her background and etc...:/

Or in a heliport in a rooftop. That would be cool too :D

I liked those you posted, it was also the one I liked the most from the ones I showed you (the "at night" one). Hopefully one day we'll gather all the necessary resources to make it happen for Mrs. Maya :P

I love that stage and the look and feel of is is good, but if you notice the details isn't that basically Boxer's stage? It's a televised fight with a round-card-woman(?) and is meant to entertain the drunk rich people in the background.

Well. But a PNG wouldn't hurt for making a smaller compression on file size of image than BMP, would it? (Saves memory) You can fix them and do as you mentioned, but can be in PNG.

Nice color palettes of Cammy sprites therem. :)

Thanks :) The silver camo one is inspired by her alt color in SF2 while the blue one harkens her Shadaloo-Killer Bee-Alpha days. ;)

I would like to add that XP Paint is better for that kind of things (it keeps the index of colours, while Windows 7/Vista Paint doesn't). ;)

As far as I know, Chuchoryu is working on her. He's editing her from SFZ. Maybe if you speak with him, you will be able to do a colour separation for that one :)!

That's why I'd do one of the alts, they pretty much are both better looking than her normal design.

As much as I'd LOVE to see this in full motion I think that it'd be even more difficult to do a full sheet for this alt compared to her original outfit. I guess that just leaves her other, more plain alt. (her SFxTK alt (not the Zafina one) can burn in a fire

My pick is the darker one. This is just me, least it gives looks that it is not a copy and paste from Dhalsim's stage. BTW, is this custom stage element from Bison aka. Dictator's Thailand palace or just a new Dhalsim stage? :p

Dictator's from SF2 will receive a revamp. It will have a lot of changes ;). Also, Claw's is possible to have a revamp too.

Dictator's from SF2 will receive a revamp. It will have a lot of changes ;). Also, Claw's is possible to have a revamp too.

Looking forward to Bison's stage revamp. Hope it'll be a stage that bears Shadaloo insignia or influence. ;P

Vincenson: Shadowlaw logo is not making its appearance in that stage...Also, I'm in the brainstorming/concept designs of that stage, and while the main thing is decided, I'm fighting against a gold twilight(similar to cvs's sagat stage) or a stormy thing as in old SFZ3 Dictator. Hard to decide!!

- C.Viper: Thinking in re-spriting her ultra 1. In that case, the total number of missing sprites are 48. If I'm going directly to ultra 2 and THE INTROS, just 31 for finishing her!! Can't decide!!
- Comission #1: It's JURI HAN. Already started her, just for making some tests of spriting routines and stupid things I like to do before spriting seriously. Specially since her is FULL of small, tricky details D: !
- Comission #2: A Capcom female who's TOTALLY NUDE!! I got her sprites ripped from a 3D game! But I won't be starting her at least till I finish Viper.
- Side project #1: I'm waiting to the outliner spriter, so we can make the very best and most viewtifulbeautiful one! You'll see the rage and HYPE of two BIG fans of that saga of games!!
- Stages: Slowly going! I'm glad this elephant, even unfinished, seems an actual elephant(LOL!!). Yeah what they said. Also her torso bounces kind of weird. I suggest looking up a good walk cycle to get the minor things right. Keeping track of these little things are what makes walk animations the hardest. Great work so far FeLo.

But after looking at her walk in game she will definitely need some subtle movement in her whole torso (including her shoulders... and boobs :P) to match her hip and leg movement.

Now, a question(mostly to the future coder/s, since he/she/they is/are reading this): Instead of a "head-roll", what about an eye-flash? that would be more agressive, crazy and intimidating, adding a lot to her. I don't know if it's possible to add via helpers in coding, but it would be cool to have like this instead of a pixel-done stuff...that may end in an extra-colour thing.


By the way: I'm waiting till my PC is getting repaired. I switched it on yesterday and...nothing happened. Luckily, I was able to get access to the HD itself, without using any program, so I guess it's the battery(crossing fingers is not the motherboard!!).

Evil eye glint or flash seems much more okay and original/unique for her. Head roll kind of makes her like she's or rather her sprite could make an impression of slight CvS Vice sprite revamp IMO. :p

I wouldn't start all the way over, the legs are salvageable at least dude. A lot of spriters/animators should work on smoothing our animations. I'm no exception.

It would be a good idea to measure Juri in comparison the CvS Chunners before doing anything else, because your sprite does seem a tad big.

I did a height comparison of the two. Note how, at 2x size, CvS Chun Li is still a bit shorter than SF4 Chun, but Felo's Juri is a bit taller.

The size of her stnace looks good to me. I'm not sure why her walking animation came out larger. Maybe because of the different camera perspective while walking? Juri looks almost the same, but Chun Li seems to get a bit smaller.

I like to take captures of forward moving animations in the corner because it keeps the camera straighter. Note the difference in straightness in the red horizontal line on the floor in the .gif above.

Heee, I feel like Lara Croft, resurrecting old thngs with artifacts :P!!

Well, after having back my PC, I fixed Juri's walk, did the crouch and crouching AND did a new sprite for the stand.

- Walk:  I just need to add the pink strings to her chest and that horny(...) hair...now she's a psychotic bald taekwonbitch :P. I did her smiling and closing her muoth while walking, this is a detail that may be changed ina  future. "Missing hand" from frame 9 is fixed. Also, I got to fix that...jelly arm she has. Maybe making it a bit smoother or softer, dunno:

- This is the crouching. And last sprite is also used for the crouch.  And! First spriteis the new stand. I got to add a wind animation to her pants, and  hair too.

I LOVE Juri's new face. Big  improvement. The only thing I see wrong with the animation is that on the 4th frame her right foot gets really small then grows again on the next frame.

Is there a second tone to the hair? Love the Pandora Mode palette - except the pure white hair. It needs like a secondary pink color like the pants in my opinion. I know in source its pure white but a shade would add just a little bit to it.

There's no fuzz, actually. There is, however, HATE for it, which I personally do not understand. With the newer versions of  Mugen, changing palettes on the fly during gameplay is now feasible, and it'd be interesting to implement a Pandora mode that looks authentic. Apparently nobody has ventured to do it because of all this hate.

I do understand, though, the hate for SVC Chaos' MAXIMUM Mode and System, for which Rolento (the mugen creator, not the character) made a template that ended up not being used. BECAUSE IT WAS SHIT! Not his work, but the game's system in the first place.

I personally would like to see more/inventive pandora palettes

Yeah, what Walt said. In fact I was imagining using pandora for a boss mode Ingrid as I was making this Juri palette.  I'd rather keep it black skin, white hair, red eyes. I like it that way. I updated the animation so it moves more correctly. Does no one else have anything top say about the sprites and how they animate?

In regards to pandora mode I'm rather interested in seeing a mode like that for Mugen. Maybe like how Rajaa did with his chars for Rage mode. Its got the right command set (D,D +MP-MK), only allowed if you're at 25% health, and there is that health decrease for damage increase. I can see infinite EX moves being used yes but not infinite supers, AND If anyone is interested, Maybe a Lvl3 super to cancel out the pandora. The amount of time you would have for Pandora mode would be the same as the EX/Meteor combo mode thats implemented on the POTS styled characters.
As for Juri, I say she's looking pretty top notch so far :3 I hope to see a palette template soon so I can update her.

I couldn't care less about alternate Pandora modes or palettes or whatever, but I gotta say this shading really bothers me!

I admit that before zooming in on it in PS I hadn't even realised there were some intermediate tones in there between the brightest highlight and those harsh, dark edges, but it still reads really confusingly. What shape are those dark lines indicating? Why is there a bright highlight right on top of them? If the dark line is a fold, the highlight should be below it, IE on the top part of the fabric sticking out below the fold. Right now it doesn't read as cloth folds, it looks like a sharp wedge sticking out in the middle of a flat surface.

That's all I can think to criticise though. The wobbly arm in the walkcycle is definitely an issue but you seem to be on top of that.

- Snackist: Juri's main palete has three colours for the hair(~lt's hope to the CS which will end in 6!). Also, SFxT Pandora's...just had a single withe colour, EXCEPT in outlines...the problem here is that I,for saving colours, did the outline stronger than usual(something that Capcom did with Athena, Mai, etc in CvS).

- Aldo & Quickfist: I'm not a fan of Pandora mode. But I got to admit that it would be at least, interesting(or fun) having a palete like that :)

- Walt: I knew that palete changng while in game but, is there a chance of "changing modes" during gameplay? I mean, Gouki-->Oni(not speciffically that, but that's the clearest thing I can think about now). Maybe implementing TWO times the same character with just the changed sprites?

- Drex: Exactly what I thought. I think that a FULL Pandora character would be an awesome final boss. And quickly feasible to spriters, since we would not have to take a lot of time with shading, since it's all black+some whites for silouetes(boobs, etc), white hair and...yes, just "glowing" purple tattoos. It would be interesting, tho.

- Flowrelick: I'll do that template once I make the first CS. What I got in mind is kinda different to what I previously did.

- Jiggeh: Yes, you're right. i know that's wrongly done, since because of light direction and etc a "enlighted" fold should not be there. Or at least, as you said. It was just a way I thought for "filling" a desertic area. Also, I use to put agressive lines like that(darkest tone--second light) just for giving a massive impression, as if there were a step there. Also, that's the kind of suggestion I like to see, something that helps me improving :)!

Just to say that I'm about to finish Viper (5 sprites are missing!!), once finishing, I'll fix some colour mess I did(LOL!!) and do a bigger CS than she currently has.

Not much familiar with Viper myself, but for the moment, let her sprite set have all the general stuff from her original game source. Least, that'll give you time to relax and feel proud of all your hard work~! :)

Well for the MFG SF you can add run, parry, and we may need to come up with new sprites for defensive and offensive comeback mechanics. Need to watch the sf4 movie again to see if it has anything we might implement.

A majority of that can be used from her current sprites. I'm pretty sure the only things she might not have for CvS gameplay is run, dodge roll, and parry. I'm in favor of adding those to the original release if they're not already sprited, but that's up to Felo.

Well, some of those are in the sheet :P. Running was easy, just a single sprite with some soft jacket and hair movement(similar to the movie). Parry is also done too(different to the block ;)!). The only "new" thing at that film is that "reversal" attack she performs against Cammy(the one which include the electro-breast thing). I also thought in XIIIMature circular kick(HK?) for her comeback technique.

Something I haven't implemented yet is the roll from SFZ. Thought in making it a bit different than in that saga, kinda as Gill-Urien roll(they roll ina  different way). Why? she rolls that way in the film.

She was thought for fitting in a CvS2 gameplay since the begining so, some of those appears here.

About MvC3, I think the only NEW thing is that laser eye beam. She has it ;)!

I'll make a list of what she has later.

Great news. I can't wait to see the end result. Good start on Juri too. I hope that you don't mind me asking, but what's the deal with the thick  dark shadow? It just seems weird to me for a shadow like that to be there since her body is facing up towards the light source.

Heh. I was going use this to show how I handled a similar situation with Rogue, but The Edge took it a step further and edited the sprite for you. I think it looks much better now.

Edit: Ugh. I didn't want my sprite to be at the top of Felo's page though. Sorry.

Got bored AND did a not CSed template for Viper. Here you can see what's going to be separated, the shock sprite AND the Hologram(I mispelled that word in the image, Sorry!) Winpose(oh, what a tease!).

I'm thinking in adding more outfits for that winpose...all Viper had(except that "summer moneyfilth" of Capcom(which is TERRIBLE), and some Capcom inspired...once the SF4 alts are done, I'll put a small poll for Capcom inspired possible outfits for her winpose. Those 3 with more votes wins.

Do I  have a reason? Totally, YES!!!

While I have two paid comissions(I'll tell in a future who they are), I also have side projects, that I work in in the weekends, so they're receiving a slower treatment...but since they're EASY to convert, I've advanced more than expected so...

- MAXIMA: Directly from KOF-XIII. I don't know why I thought in him, since I don't like the big characters in any game(the irony: I'm a decent Jack/Kuma player in Tekken) and he's not an exception. All his gethits are finished. Aside the current CS, I added an extra separation for his arms, so he can receive his Robo Army(was it the name of the game?) palete, which appears in KOF MI 2.

- ASH CRIMSON: Yes. Why not? The main problem with him is his face. Is soooooo small and his hair is sooooo big it looks like a mushroom!! Haven't added an extra CS because I think what he has it's more than enough. All his gethits are finished.

For these two, I'm thinking in adding extra stuff(since KOF XIII is kinda incomplete), like the electroshock & MB(for extra gethits), and some of his intros & wins from other appearances...it's sad that XIII has just one win pose or etc :/. Also, the CS can help me at this...because I'm superlazy.

Speaking of lazy, they're 50% of their XIII size. I know they should be smaller to fit the cvs rosters...just decided this resize because:
1- TIME: It's easier to find a 50/50 values
2- Pixel problems: even working with 50/50 instead of 43/50(or something like that, can't remember now), there are things that disappears, but they're easily do-able...working with the other resize, gave me some problems in the first stages of spriting: disappeared zippers, misshapen parts(heads, arms etc), bodies in diagonal gave me problems...it's not worth the time. You can call me lazy, but hey, I'm taking MY time to do this. If you find this size doesn't works well in a CvS roster...just change the values in the cfg. file.

I didn't want to sound harsh with the previous sentence :P

Maybe, these two guys could take the interest of @Jmorphman and @Divinewolf . I don't know, just summoning them because they're awesome.

Also:

- Q: I've heard you're working in Chizuru, is that true?
- R: Not ATM. I did the stand and that's it...I'm taking my free time with Ash and Maxima. Chizuru is not planned by now.

-Q: Will other XIII characters receive the same treatment?
-R: I'm thinking that yes. Maybe I...I don't know. Already said a lot with this line ;)

- Q: What about Geki? Cammy?
- R: They're inside the MFG-SF project. I'm sure I'll take care of Geki in a future but can't tell about Cammy.

- Q: What about completing Ryu for that project?
- R: I'm spriting him too. This is funny: he's a simple design, what makes him diffuclt. I get paranoid with all the folds and etc because they look SO simple and I think "have I did this well? Let's erase it and do it again". So I can do the same sprite like 4-5 times till I get satisfied with the result. I know: it's a problem.

But doesn't KoF XIII have electroshock because of Benimaru's Collider move or something?
I honestly agree about the 50/50 resize, dunno why people would nitpick about characters being two pixels taller than the CvS cast anyways.

Jokes aside, first, thanks. :) You're awesome too! ;) Second, I'm afraid I know too little about any of these chars to take up the challenge of making them. I don't think I've used Maxima ever... Chizuru...I'm actually intimidated of. All of her cloning/teleporting nonsense would be tedious. As for Ash...prettiest man I ever saw...? Perhaps I may holla at Chazz and update his with the new spriteset. I saw that sample you made in the other thread. Very nice. Looking forward to updates, and I wish you luck with everything. I'm not really found of Ash as a char, but I'd be willing to update Chazz's Ash.

- @DW: Shiat! I was missing one star! Daaaammit!! It's a shame T_T. But it's OK at the same time. You're being honest with those two, so it's awesome(do you see? you seeeeee?). About updating Chaz's Ash, I'll DL his version, so I can take some sprites that XIII's Ash lacks. There are some intros against certain fighters(Iori, Elizabeth, etc) that doesn't appear(as they were) in XIII.

- @Ulisan: As MotorRoach said, I released the sprites. I may be updating the sheet with extra stuff(things I forgot from SF-IV or stuff from MvC3), but I can't give a date for that.

Well, second wip is not exactly who you think she is. Is indeed a man. A total legend. It has been mugenized, but in his own way, more similarto the root idea. I'm having some freedom with it because the comisioner wants like this for seeing how the design can become, and more specially to not become another character clone.

I'm glad to say I'm HAPPY with the redesign I did for him and respecting the concept. I have to talk with the comisioner later so MAYBE it will be shown at some point at this week.

Now...it's kinda easy to convert from KoFXIII to CvS. Just did a downgraded palete for Ash(already CSed!!), resized it to 50%(call me lazy if you want) and did minour fixes here and there.

So...it's been 9 months from my last post and...not a lot of advance D:. Spent the whole summer working(two jobs, restaurant waiter and pub waiter), then moved to the city for a deeper workhunting, which I succeed...but I could not take my PC with me, so I just can sprite during the weekends. That's the reason why I'm soooooo slow now.

Nearly not a lot of advance in Ash and Maxima, mostly because I gave a higher priority to someone...Why? Because it's a paid comission. I have now all his gethtis finished(CvS standar, just did an electro and a MvC because it was required by the comissioners), but I don't discard making some other custom in the future(MB or Chip KO, for example). I'm trying to keep a sprite account similar to CvS standars, but I totally suck at doing animated GIFs.

I haven't posted all of the sprites...some of these are unfinished. And yes, it's buffed in purpose. Another thing is, YES, it's a mix between his in-game appearance(French flag in his legs) and in his early artwork one(French flag in his shoulders)

Well...this said...

The next step is start a crowdfunding for helping both comissioners and an extra stimulus for me to keep going with this.

Of course, Maxima, Ash, Viper and whoever next goes are not forgotten. Just centered my efforts in Abel.

I'm going to have to agree with this. I put him next to CvS Ryu, and Abel looked like a giant next to him, even though Abel is only slightly bigger than Ryu in SFIV. My main problem with this is that he's also really wide, so much that it fits the CPS2 ratio more than the CvS ratio, and one foot is way higher up than the other, even though sprite styles like CvS only keep a difference of a few pixels, for the perspective (like, two or three, at most), but Abel's foot looks like it's kind of floating, when put into context with CvS.

I wish I didn't have to say this, because other than that, the sprites are really nice. Still, you should compare your sprites to CvS characters more often, because they end up looking huge half of the time.

- Walt: Thanks, Walt . I know it's a bit big for CvS(but kinda well fitting with MvC/SFZ), but I did this size in purpose...I think it fits him better. Themain problem is...as it's big, I have to take care of more details than expected, even being a simple design :/. And, I can not stop remembering that I did Viper SO big too...I'm ashamed of that work :/

- MotorRoach: As said, I did that big(and buffed) in purpose. I wanted him to be more intimidating than he actually is. The "floating" foot it's because I traced above SF4 rips. As seen in Viper, it's pretty big(and MAYBE she will receive a redesign. I'm not pretty sure yet).

I wouldn't worry about the bigger look. Coders can scale him. But the foot should be lowered so the shadows connect properly in MUGEN.

Even if he's meant to be "big and buffed", his horizontal ratio is still too wide for the CvS sprite style. Someone buff like that wouldn't be so wide in the CvS games, given that is something you'd see more in CPS2 games like Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel vs Capcom.

Still, I am interested to see how this turns out, at least. Should be interesting to see who ends up coding Abel, once this is done. He did mention it was for the MFG Presents Street Fighter project, so maybe Balthazar or JNP would give it a go...?

Ook, I'll try fixing the FOOT issue D:. I'm not going to stretch him even a little because that would mean fixing every sprite and time is something I don't have a lot :/. Zangief it's pretty buffed in CvS compared to his original appearance in SF2. (ok, ok, different times, sprites etc), so that's the main reason I won't change his width.

I agree, if anyone wants something done, and are impatient, then learn how to sprite themselves and stop whining.

he did and i made her in Pots/Divinewolf style
he also did a cvs Rose and that looks amazing

if you don't have patience then learn to sprite your self like Felo_Llop said

Every time I see your sprites Felo, they become more and more impressive. I almost wish I could fast forward some years and see the finished project already, these look incredible. Good luck!


Also as far as his buffness, I personally think it looks fine. It's a little big for CvS, but I would wager the best way to approach it is by spriting it in the way that's most natural. You (or someone else) can always make edits later, after the groundwork is done.

Well, here are some bad & good news:

- Good news: Moved from the town to the city, but don't have so much time for spriting since now I have a good work. Also, preparing two competitive exams (first comes 3rd July and 2nd in the last week of September).
- Bad News: My HD crashed like 2 months ago. Lost nearly everything. This includes Abel, Cammy, C.Viper(2), V. Joe, Ash and Maxima, who were my main wips. Just saved few sprites of them, but I only can sprite in the weekends, but I'm taking care of my grandmother who's pretty ill. So, yes. Both my comissioners were informed of the hd crash since minute 1, they were paying for a job(I sent sprites, they sent money. I didn't make them to pay for a work to be done. Let's be fair).

What's the future of this?
- Ash & Maxima: Since they were a 50% size of their XIII counter parts, they will be "easy" to take back. I just have to DL the characters and apply a palete(I have to redo it again. SHIIIIIIIIT!! I hated thaaaaat!). Also thought in adding flameless Iori and/or Elizabeth to the bunch but they were planned for a future.

- Abel, Viewtiful joe, C.Viper(2) & Cammy: This is the HARD WORK bunch. Abel and Cammy were like a double size, then shrink to a common  for save time and basic shading. Joe and Viper were a "drawing above" MvC3 instead. As Abel was a commision and I can not take it (for now), in case I keep working on him, it will be a free one, like Rose and Viper were.


So...don't expect advances of me in a time. Also lost some of my friends(rip) photos in that crash and most of the files were corrupt as hell. Can't say I was in the best of the moods.

Did you try to take your hard disk out of your computer and connect it to another computer instead? I did that a couple of times, whenever I had problems on my computer and hoped to not lose my files.

Alternatively, you can take your hard disk to a store that works with computers and see if they can back up your files from the hard disk.

There are also cheap software you can use that can sometimes recover it. I've done that.

This sucks but in the future on big projects you should do one of 2 things. Create a clone folder. Where every night at a certain time your PC will duplicate and update the files and folders to another HD.

Set you up a dropbox account. And use it as a back up point. This is my favorite since it allows you to restore older versions of files too.

Well, I sprite in an OLD pc that as it still works(and pretty well, gotta add). It was the first PC I had, and before throeing it, I left it for myself(spriting, writting my book, etc). It's a PREHISTORIC artifact that still uses W98.
Once it crashed, I linked it to the newest PC in home, but unfortunately, the files were corrupted. There's still things that I have not even mentioned to anyone else(let's say that an experiment I was working on, went pretty well. And advanced) and its folder is totally unreadable.

Now, recovered what I could. Ash has nearly everything back, but as the XIII character was in the main page,alongside the palete and etc, I'll DL it again and repeat process. Same with Maxima. As I was sending the stuff to the comissioners, I can have back Abel's stuff. Lost tje basics(walk, jump and etc), which is, alongside gethits, the most tedious part.

Thought in the dropbox thing, but a friend of me had a not so nice surprise and I can't trust that system. Maybe saving stuff in an USB.

About V.Joe, I was using Beximus' MvC screenshots. I've gotta check if they're still online and if not, I'll request tjem to him.

What was the not so nice Drop Box surprise your friend had? I can't see how it'd be worse than your HD going out. If said surprise happened while your HD was still working then you'd still have the files anyway.

Both issues would have to happen at the same time.

Well, just to say that I'm sloooooowly coming back. First may be Ash, since redid his palette into my favourite colours to work with. Also, Side turn(both standing and crouch), and walk forward finished. Now I'm starting the walk backwards. I totally hate walking animations.

Also, having fun with stage editing. This sketch comes from two Killer Instinct stages(Aganos' and Maya's), merged for making my future Godess Athena stage. Not sure if adding more collums(maybe those fromNGBC?) or directly, the sea with a mountain, or something from Soul Calibur. Not sure!!

Thanks, M.Warrior! I think I'll put Cammy's sea from SFZ, just changing colour to match those from the shot.

Once I apply the palette(decreased amount of colours and CS already applied on it), I reduce it to 50% of its size. Then...the result goes in "before". after fixing here and there, I arrive to the "after". SO it sometimes is not that easy. Ash's face surelly is a pain to do some times!!

Ok, ok...I'm pretty aware it's been time since my last post here. Just a small update.

Today's official WiPs are:

- Ash Crimson, from XII/XIII to (kinda) CvS. Gethits and basics ar finished. Taunt(win?) is finished too, so I guess it's around 50%. The most booooooring part is finished sooooo... :D!! I'll also add stuff from previous KoFs(intros and wins, more than anything...XII/XIII is pretty boring at that point.)

- Viewtiful Joe: Recently took him again. eFeX gladly helped me with the stand, making a sketchy thing that I have to fill and resprite at some parts, but it's pretty awesome as it is :D. Viewtiful Joe will also receive a noice CS, allowing for example, a Great Saiyaman palete too :P.

- Leona: Spoke to Dampir about fixing his XII/XIII Leona and received green light from him, since there are(from my humble point of view) some stuff in his sheet that could be fixed. Pants folds were odd, and the chest/breast area was odd too. Some sprites had PLANE BOOBS as taken from the nipple and streeeeeetched to the other way. Face also receives a small update. I'm not that good at spriting faces, you all know, so the update here is small. ALso added abds and arms definition. Maybe is a fetish of me, but if she's military she needs to be strong(not a hunk, lol) with at least, some muscle definition.
She also receives a CRAZY CS too. It allows her classic jacket, giving a KOF MI look, XII/XIII, XIV and hey...some other variations(Street Wise Cammy for example). I'm not good at making animated GIFs, but...

Also, Goddess Athena's stage is in the works, at least, graphically. I don't knnow if making a blue sky version, cloudy or directly night version with the Milky Way on it. Or just the three of them. EXCham!!!

I'm just making the sprites. Both versions have different sizes and all, so the hitboxes and etc may vary. It's been time since I last spoke with Chazza, and he seemed intersted in adapting it, but dunno now. It will be up to him

Got an USB with a folder ONLY for the wipzzzzz. At least I'm trying to save things once I finish some stuff.
It's safer to upload your projects on a cloud service, Usb drivers can die or get infected.

Also, I've not been very active these days because of studying a competitive exam, taking care of my grandmother, jobhunting and visiting my exGF in the hospital. But! wanted to keep you in track!

- Leona: Just few basic stuff. Stand sprites took most of my time and already started some Gethits. Here's a preview for her basic stuff.

Even I'm retouching is XIII conversion, I'll be adding classic stuff. She lost so many things in her transition to that game, so...guess it's the hard part(But I have a lot of fun with it, though :v):

I don't know about coding, so here's my question: is there any way to make Orochi Leona in the middle of the battle, or just Start+button, as so many exchars around Mugen? Thanks!!

She's just a recolor with unique stance and attacks, right? The only issue would be if her get hits change sprites. Color is fine

From what I remember, her get-hits are the same so it shouldn't be a problem mixing Orochi into her.
