Hello community members. As some of you know, I recently made a video regarding a specific character by Zox. Simon Belmont. The video in question was a review of the character pointing out some of its major flaws. Being the great contributor that he is, Zox completely disregards any suggestions/feedback telling users that he knows what is best for his character. Following the outburst of a member, CVG admin Volzilla proceeds to mute said member. As a result I decided to post my video in the forum, in order for Zox to realize he needed to lower his ego and fix his mistakes.

Apparently, sarcasm and truth isn't tolerated in CVG, as CVG admins immediatly proceeded to remove my video, and send me a warning aka "cleaning the dirty laundry".

Oh and I forgot to mention, I was muted after that, because everyone knows that you can't speak your mind and tell the truth about how things work in a forum.
Here's a basic summary of how CVG works.
- Creator X releases X creation
- User X makes suggestions and recommendations for the fixes
- Creator X says he does whatever he wants
- User X gets frustrated and tells creator X why he bothers releasing if feedback is unwelcomed
- Creator X can get to a point where he can insult the user and his post will be removed but he will not be punished
- User X responds equally and gets punished
- Staff removes remaining posts including the ones with feedback and tell the crowd to disperse

I was not around when that happened, but in case you readers don't know, Shinra was a "contributor" who was made a staff member at MI, who when someone posted a topic video regarding his character Marilyn's flaws (including the before mentioned sarcasm, used by many human beings as a form of joke), immediatly proceeded to mute everyone who posted in said topic.
But returning to our story:

WHAT A COINCIDENCE.
One day after the whole deal, I get a warning in my Youtube account about hate speech violations in the comments section, all of my videos but one, had been thumbed down, 3 OF MY VIDEOS WERE REMOVED BY YOUTUBE STAFF BECAUSE THEY WERE CONSIDERED "INNAPROPRIATE" and one of them had a warning about copyright infringment.
How strange! Everything seemed to be fine with my account, but all of a sudden. POOF.
And here is where it gets good.
I tried to reach Youtube support and help in order for them to pay more attention to the videos they deem innapropriate because if sarcasm is a violation of the terms of use, then you might aswell shutdown AVGNs channel. Help sections and support serve no purpose to this matter as Youtube staff apparently does not care what the community thinks as this has been going on for months if not years.
So as you can see friends, the CVG staff is made by vengeful, unstable individuals who like to enforce their ways beyond the rulings of their forum. Also I am just SO HAPPY about Youtube's WONDERFUL flag appeal system.

In hopes of getting this message through, I have made this thread, and I will make it in every possible Mugen forum I can and I will upload said video again. My account will probably be shutdown as expected, and I shall use another video hosting service where free speech is tolerated (wish me luck).
You may say what you think about me, you may say what you think about this whole deal, I understand and I respect that. I just felt I had to do this, in order to expose CVG for what it really is.

It's their prerogative. If they don't wanna listen to feedback they don't have to, it's their loss. You did make a LOT of sarcastic comments about how that forum is run before the mute. Here's something I take issue with:

I have an answer for that. "So people can play the character in Mugen." The attitude I quoted has been bugging me for a while, people getting upset when creators don't listen to their feedback. Yes, it's annoying and unfortunate since it benefits them to listen, and personally if I wouldn't have listened to feedback I received during my early years I wouldn't be half the creator I am today. But look at what this leads to.
I think you may have taken this whole situation way too serious, seeing as you made posts here and at Infantry about it, and a youtube vid about it. Don't you think you would have been better off letting it go instead of letting it become an incident?
P.S. Having your youtube videos removed was going too far and was unneccasary on their part. I think that was crossing the line.
Also GOH I personally think you are good with feedback and a significant contributor to THIS forum.

You should have just ignored Volzilla (aka block him from sending you PM), just like Gill did when Volzilla started following him in Youtube. It would have been for the best. But seriously, going as far as to cancel someone else account just for that is stupid. And why did I have to see the "Gill stalks me and CvG" again? That reminds me his ban expires in two weeks, and reading that comment tells me he didn't learn at all :-\
And seriously, Youtube is hilarious sometimes. You can report any video for any stupid reason, and 80% of the time you're going to see that video down (and most likely the user's account). Heck, there are people who spends their time in Youtube doing that.

Volly flipped out on two videos beforehand:
My Andore Jr. vs Liu Kang (Shazzo) vid, admittedly I kinda fueled that one.
My Gambit vs Kl'rt (2008) vid, which he flipped out for me not knowing that it was being redone, though that's pretty silly.
The third time, which was Bishop vs zvitor's Green Lantern, he went off over me saying "Though it comes from CvG I don't consider it a CvG char", referring to Yungdragun's Guyver thread in which zvitor said he does not consider himself part of the CvG team.

It's sad, and I'm kinda suprised at the scale at which it has reached. I kinda was surprised when the first thing I typed on Google was "Flagged videos" and the results were 30% how it works and 70% complaints about people who false flagged videos. It's disgusting really.

I don't see any problem with starting a discussion here about it, GOH. It's natural to want to discuss things that anger you with like-minded people, whether it be for support or vindication.
I recently had an IM conversation with Volzilla where I tried to tell him that a lot of their staff and creators are too sensitive about things, and he disagreed and kept insisting that people who leave blunt or harsh feedback are doing it for their own amusement or to get themselves over with their buddies, which I disagree with. He also lumped MI and MFG together as places where people are allowed to be rude and disrespectful without punishment, and even seemed to suggest that we encourage that behavior. I feel like he's judging everyone here the same way people judge the people at his forum. However, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I've gone through a ton of release and WIP threads at CVG, and sometimes it feels as if their reputation is justified. I've seen entire threads go 3 or 4 pages of just posts that say "Wow! Finally *insert character here* has come to Mugen!" followed by a ton of random smileys. He just kept saying "not all of us are like that," but then kept lumping everyone at MFG and MI together in the same way he accuses everyone else of doing to him and his forum. I personally endured a ton of harsh feedback, and I'm a better creator for it. I also suggested to him that many CVG creators and staff seem to mistake bluntness for rudeness. In the end it seems they will always have a different standard as far as what's "rude" or "constructive" or "respectful." In my experience, any time I see someone here at MFG being genuinely rude or mean-spirited, they are warned or banned pretty swiftly, and a lot of what I see get warned or deleted at CVG seems fine. I really think they should grow thicker skin, or stop being shocked that they have the reputation that they do.
I've never personally had a problem with Volzilla, although I'm sure he'll find out I posted this and get upset about it. All I've posted here is the truth though, and I feel I've posted it in the nicest and most constructive way possible.

I'm having a PM conversation with him. He feels that it was uncool for me to say that it was probably him who flagged my videos. However I did mention I was pretty certain it was someone from CVG, and I have no way to find out who. So whoever flagged my videos was smart enough to do it and get away with it. And I can't really trust him after all the acts he's been pulling off. I'm not blind. I listen to what people have to say and observe what's going on around me. I don't like his forum, and I think he's a moron and hypocrite for defending something which he knows it's not right. I say things the way I see them. I have no problems saying things I think are wrong about MFG or MI. So why is he acting like Mr. Nice Guy? I can't really trust someone like that.

After reading it all I can say Sean Altly pretty much said what I think about the whole situation. And hell, how can we blame GOH for thinking that Volzilla was the one who flagged his vids?
I still remember the whole "give me OG's IP" thing, how he has the guts to say that Gill chase them is beyond me. If there's something I know about Orochi Gill is that he's not the kind of guy who wastes his time in such silly things.

And GOH not everything about CVG is bad!.. ofcourse we have some members that are rude and others that want to play nice, but that is a lot same over at MFG.. I don't point out people becaus I'm the same.. I can be sercastic!, I can be rude, I can be nice.. But I play by the rules! learn from the others. That's what so great about community's, theyre almost the same haha... But I must say that Volz is far from the only one that can modify videos over at CVG, I don't know who it was or could be, but I'm just telln that it does not ''have'' to be Volz!...

I just select the persons at whom I give feedback at CVG. I know several of them won't listen to feedback, so I just don't bother. aa250 is one of the guys to whom I gave regular feedback some time ago, and I could be sure he'd answer in a good manner and would address most of the issues in the next update a month later.

I have noticed something about feedback. People love to give negative feedback. I mean they love it. If you want proof, find release thread for a good character, then find one for a bad character.
The amount of pages alone should tell you something. Admit it, some of you only give feedback to make some people feel like shit.
That being said, CVG has more problems than censorship. I can't bring myself to navigate their forum. Even at the request of the people there.... I mean the smiles on the reply page alone distract and the forum is cluttered.
If CVG admin, mods, and user put as much time into their forum as they do attacking youtube videos or banning people, they might have a clean forum that more of us might use. My two cents... Or call it feedback.

I understand your concern, but I already mentioned before that I I'm not 100% sure it was Volzilla, but I'm pretty certain it was someone from CVG. I also said in the 1st post I don't think everything is bad about CVG, but there are more bad things than good things in my opinion. I don't like CVG's rules and I don't play by their rules. Therefore they can ban me if they want, it's in their right as the forum administrators. And the problem about the video, is not about the video being removed from the forum, it's about a targetted action by a group of individuals from there, who thought it was cool to remove them from Youtube. I don't hate you for telling your opinion I made this topic precisely because of that. I only made the video after Zox started acting like a douchebag and since I was on a role, I expressed my despise for lying hypocrites like Volzilla. If they can't handle the truth, that only shows how much they care for the opinion of forum users. Here's an example: imagine one day something unfair happens to you in the forum, and you try to talk to the admins about it, and they don't care, and tell you that if you don't stop it, they will ban you. It's a video full of proof that CvG staff needs to improve its attitude (with photos included). If it was removed, no doubt everybody would have pointed at CvG. Besides, it's a short video with a long description that doesn't have anything offensive. I don't think that goes against Youtube "Terms of Service". So yeah, this logic is not really valid.
But anyway, you're right that there's no proof about this. As much as we think CvG is really suspicious here, even a member (not a staff) or someone unrelated could have reported that video. Even if I think GOH has a lot of reasons to suspect CvG (and specially Volzilla) after the PMs, it's not enough to blame CvG. That's a fact.
The only conclusion in this whole argument that I reach is that Youtube staff sucks, which is nothing new, and that CvG staff needs to be more lenient towards "notsokind" comments.

The fact the video is out for 2 years, doesn't change the fact that one of the administrators who participated in that action are still staff at CVG. CVG should start thinking about what kind of staff members they want there.

I didn't get banned, and I can't prove who did it because youtube's flag system keeps the users in anonymity. Please read the topic. And about Vol's ban. That's up to him, I won't go around chasing him. He'll probably just stalk Gill again and try to get him banned.

I also received two PMs in MI (is he unable to PM people when he's banned in MFG? I discovered that PM by mere miracle, as I'm used to MFG warning me that I have one). One saying it wasn't him, and another that it was a mistake sending that PM from before. I'm a little lost here.

, i have to tell that volzilla wasn't responsible for youtube account he just pmed me because he thought it was me. I'm sure zox and all his friends must have done this. My only problem with your vid was the title, the bug exits so you were not lying.
One little note, cvg creations are not the best out there cause we are still learning, for my own part i don't even know how to code, and i'm still learning cause there isn't tutorials in french. I just do some classics edits., and correct the easy things like clns or adding sprites where they should be ;P.
Nevertheless, we are continuously trying to update our chars, for my part: robin is now gonna have his 4 update, same thing with guy gardner, captain marvel his second one , and so on, and so on,...
Feedback is a good thing (as long as it's not "your select portrait is too big for my screenpack" --;) but having some congratulations and +1 from time to time doesn't hurt either. That's why everytime i post feedback i post the good and bad things in a char.
One last thing i'm just talking for me and i think cvg team, not for zox, cause he isn't part of it.

Why can't you guys use another group for custom portraits for your screenpack like every other screenpack that uses custom portraits use instead of using the default group for your oversized portraits that should really have their own group?

Because most of the time someone saying Nice Char +1 means that they haven't even touched the character yet. It tells nothing to the author and it certainly doesn't tell anything to anyone else.
Rather than just posting Nice Char +1 you're better off being more detailed like
"Well, I've tested this character and I haven't found any problems so far."
or
"Hey, is X attack/movement/action supposed to be like this? Cause I think it's....(stuff about it).

Nah, it's better if it had it's own seperate group. Cause that way it can have a regular portrait for regular screenpacks and a custom portrait for your custom screenpack. And because it has it's own seperate group any other author can add that a custom portrait for your screenpack. Everybody wins....except the the terrorists.

Ok, so here's where I see things as stated inside this topic:
-GOH made a feedback video for Simon, he titled it "Vox you should dedicate yourself to fishing"
-CvG members took it as an insult
-GOH was muted and video was removed
-GOH's video was flagged and removed from Youtube
-GOH gets pissed and rants (rightfully so)
Obviously, someone within the CvG Community flagged the video.
And this is where I am lost.What else is going on that's so heated?

It is unfortunate I need to make this post, but apparently I do.
Feedback is not only welcome at CVG, it is encouraged. And we thank all of you who have taken the time and effort to do so.
But there are a few things to remember when it comes to it:
- At no time does that give you the excuse to insult our community or our members when you do so. We have a rule about respect at all times and we expect all of our members to follow it. Not following it will result in various forms of moderation depending on the case at hand. We do this because there are people who place a priority on stirring up drama ahead of providing the facts needed for feedback/improvement.
- Authors/creators are not obligated to make those adjustments on feedback in any specific timeframe. Updates are made on *their* time, not yours.
Apparently CvG doesn't mind feedback as long as it is ONLY feedback.Opinions are not welcome if said opinions are insulting.

He came to this forum to make fun of people with the kind of passive-aggresive bullshit that would get you banned from their forum. All of this while pretending to act mature by bringing up that he is a parent and is busy with work at least 3 times.
Then instead of giving any serious reply his reaction was: "oh yeah? well that's like your opinion man! i'm leaving cuz im too busy for this but you can come to my forum to continue (of course i'll abuse my power on you the second you offer your "opinion")".
I just love than whenever there is a discussion like this among different communities the offended party will come here and express themselves in whatever way they like (which usually involves the same poor arguments along with the inability to follow a discussion for more than 2 posts) but the moment someone else dares speaks his/her mind on their territory they are immediately censored.

Vol i know your gonna read this but dont take this the wrong way, i'm not siding with either faction. the truth is.
If 1 website cant take feedback from 1 person, then the website has a problem, you can get rid of the 1 person, but what he or she says you can not block there view or criticism, people bad mouth my creations alot, but i take in what they tell me, and make something better of it... when i'm not lazy, and you know what? my friend did a video review of Simon as well, and he said it was worthless and not worth getting i myself didnt download it but from the video it doesnt look good.
as a spriter i admire his work, as a coder not to much.

Let these authors hear what people think about their creations, good or bad.

Don't moderate posts because they're rude or not polite.
Sometimes what a bad creator needs to hear isn't "Nice Char +1" but "This sucks fix it!"
And persoanlly, I hate downloading a char with comments about how great it is,
Only to find out it has problems that were addressed and deleted because of "policy"

GOH has every right to be upset right now and everything he's done, even the initial Simon Belmont video, seems purely reactionary. The mute was not because of the feedback. Read the thread. It was because admins felt offended by my sarcastic remarks.

Some are very snotty, toss in slight jabs that are insulting, sarcastic, and purposeful.

Disregarding Alexziq recent posts,I'm disappointed at the response from CvG Members.
I'd expect Comments with more reason and validity and not the type of comments
I've seen from CvG members posted here thus far.They all might as well post "Bad Topic -1"
(and that's not a jab to instigate a fight, it's an opinion)
I think the reason we don't just ignore your forum or your characters entirely is because,
"Who doesn't want well made video game & comic characters or a forum that creates them?"
It's frustrating to see some of my favorite SuperHeroes being created so poorly.
All these authors really need is some constructive criticism, which means to
critique an individual so they will benefit or improve.
And it's nice to see at least a few authors there fixing problems, but it's sad to see
any type of feedback being censored for any reason.
IF you don't let them experience this they grow up to be like bdcirck.
But this topic isn't about CvG, it's members or it's rules, it's about how these loose guidelines
are interpreted by CvG Members, and the actions they take to justify their type of response.
But it looks like going seperate ways is the best conclusion that can be made.
GOH is just in his rant, things went too far when his video was flagged and removed.
CvG members comming here to dispute facts is ridiculous as it is absurd.
There will always be a mugen fanbase for Video game/Comic characters,
just as there will always be poorly made characters of said genre.

It's frustrating to see some of my favorite SuperHeroes being created so poorly.
Well I think that statement is bull. I personally am disappointed with a lot of the stuff released at the guild. A lot of bad 16 bit eye sores.
I think Bane, John Stewart, The Atom, Guy Gardner, the Flash, Magneto, and Supergirl have all been solid releases.
The flaws with them are not huge flaws that cant be fixed with minor work, and we update more than the other teams do.
Youre statement just makes a mountain out of a molehill, like theyre beyond broke.
With the exception of Loganir, and some of Zvitors work the same thing can be said for every team making comic characters.
Look at the erors in Etrigan for example among dozens of other between the other teams that never get updated

Stewart wasn't that bad, but zvitor doesn't consider himself part of the CvG team.

Mugen Fighters Guild doesn't release things as a "team." Anyone who wants to share things is welcome to release stuff here. What are you talking about?

Just to remind, AGAIN, I was a little rash in saying Volzilla was the one who flagged my videos, not to mention it would probably take a group of people to do it, since there was no appeal option but get this:
- I tell Volzilla I don't care about being banned. Volzilla bans me.
- And before all this I told Volzilla he probably would try to convince Youtube staff to close my account. And what happened next?

Again no one is denying any of that. However it's not tremendous work that needs done.
I think your opinion on Gardner is more taste than issue.
And your crack about the old Harley at IMT being better than my last update was absolutely absurd.
Maybe by taste, but certainly not from a "broken" standpoint.
To me that was a bit of a personal crack.
Far as JS GL goes, lotsa teams have characters from Zvitor, and members not totally on the team. The spritework was done by our team, so how is it not CVG

Anyway to me this is really a GOH / Volzilla issue.
CVG has dumped multiple threads that were negative toward Guild and posters so this isnt a CVG vs MFG at all.
Of course our rulse are differant, were all seperate forums with differant sets of rules.
I can say for sure we will always be stricter towards tone of posting. Were not the Guild, and never claimed to be.
Same goes for people that blow up because someone gave them constructive feedback.
Were a private forum we dont have to have the same rules. I dont buy into that community crap, and I dont believe the Guild does either for that matter.
Not that I condone or agree with what happened in regards to GOH, but it's not like CVG is going to change into a Smack Off tournament in regards to feedback either.
Theres things I dont care for about MFG so I dont come here and tell these guys how to run their show. Thats disrespectful to what theyve built.

I don't know about the guild, but I believe and community and many of the members here do. CVG does too, or they wouldn't keep asking others (including me) to help them with stuff.
You are right about different rules though, you guys can have whatever rules you like. Don't be surprised when others they suck and tell you about it. I don't like the rules at Random Select and have openly criticized them. The most they have done as posted a retort, because that is a reasonable thing to do.
As far as your guy's excuse about you don't control you members, you admin and staff and forum rules do influence your community. If your community members are really targeting GOH then what does that say about your rules and community? Also what does it say about the larger Mugen Community as a whole?
In stead of looking outward and blaming other for the criticism of your users, staff, and even your forum itself.... Look inward. All I hear is you guys deflecting. "Well the guild does this and we do that." That doesn't change the fact that others don't like what your community does or is. If you are not going to change, then why bother deflecting and defending yourselves at all? If you are going to change because of feedback on here or anywhere, then again why deflect.
We, the members of the guild are not your problem. You and your community are their own problem.
For people that have their own rules and such, you seem to really be upset about a few users not digging your forum, your users, or your staff. That is your problem, not the users of another forum.
You guys remind me of those authors that attack Amazon when a user post a bad review.

Urgh im not reading all of those replies.
So I will just address some things.
Alex, we are not a team, we dont pretend to be a team, and we avoid any "team" stuff. We try to help people to create if we can, but we do it as a community, not as a sense of team. The mentality of "us versus them" is not a good one for a hobbie, while there are "teams" that are not ultra competitive, the mentality usually drives people to elect "faces" like cvg currently has vozilla. And then when the faces fuck up, everyone ends up looking bad, as the people they chose to speak for them is doing just that.
I rather have the cvg authors, spriters and coders merge and become people that visit all forums and learn from several sources than to hide before a couple faces that will come to present their stuff, like some kind of publicist, in a way those "publicists" are stealing from the creators the true experience of interacting with the rest of the community.
Here, open challenge from anyone from those close gated communities, come out and play, just because there are foreigners on those other places, they wont steal your wallets..

Well I can say this. I have learned to appreciate MFG a lot more these days.
For the record the administration at CVG is divided on this. 2 of us dont agree that GOH should have been banned, a couple of members are cool either way, and a couple feel his actions here, and on Youtube after the fact earned the ban.
Lets remember when GOH started this thread he wasnt banned. I think he was warned or something like that. (I wasnt here for all that)
At the same time ive seen enough of these flame wars to know people over react and do stupid stuff. There are guys I used to fight with like mad, who are some of my favorite people in this hobby now, so I don't believe in constant fueds.
I might have done something similar to what V did in the heat of the moment. People do malicious things in the heat of the moment. GOH's ban, and some of the things GOH has done in response are hasty, but I believe both parties thought they were just retaliating to each others attacks.
I believe in forgiving one another, and moving on, and let cooler heads prevail.

I think you have to remember theres a whole differant group of people that appreciate the rules, and dont want people cok knocking their every release. Lets face it here at the guild you do a sprite swap, and a minor edit, youre going to get trashed by the community here.
For a lot of people thats how they learn (myself included). Not all people master FF overnight, or know the communities precious rules, or know how to program a cmd to work like MvC, SNK, or MK games do when you 1st start into this. I've been worrking 3-4 years, and still have a lot to learn.
Being a little patient with people you can kinda discern who will be the next oowhap, and who will be the next Wucash. Thats why my focus on a persons "tone" is my issue.
You can give someone all the feedback you want, just do it without any snotty tone. While were not going to ban every smart alec, and sarcastic poster they may get warned if it becomes compulsive. Thats not going to change.
I really don't feel like I should have to defend that policy. If the community doesnt like it, well theres a great site here to enjoy for those people.
What happened to GOH isnt the norm, it's not really policy. It was a flame war that ended up being handled badly all around. Initially GOH really didnt do anything, but some of the staff are upset about the retaliation.
My feeling is that we should let bye gones be bye gones, and try to get along. Theres a lot of guys at the guild that provide critical feedback, and do it well constructed, organized, and provide good suggestions.
That something I will always appreciate even if everyone here chooses to have bad blood with me.

You should remember as well, not everyone takes feedback the same way. Smacking someone down because they've posted something in a way the creator doesn't actually MIND is not a good way to go. Specially if the feedback is actually important. Now, obviously zoxx hated that method, but sometimes snarky comments are basically ignored. You can tell someone will be a good creator if they are.
Basically, if something ridicules the character without attacking the author and the author still listens and improves, you've got a potential good creator. If they blow up, you don't have a good creator. You have someone in it for too much fame. he's interested in nice char +1, and isn't worth giving feedback to.
