Hey Guys, the next NZCR stage in the lineup was Forest. This one needed the most work I think. It was just too boring and ugly before. Here's what's new:
- Changed the music.
- Completely color corrected.
- Reduced the scale down to 1:1 from 1.5:1.145. (yeah, I don't know what I was thinking initially.)
- Removed the falling leaves.
- Added a huge sweep of light rays coming from the treetops.
- Added 5 multi-level platforms. (For NZCR only).
Here's a video:
Enjoy.
Hey Guys, I'm releasing a quick stage I put together from NZC. I don't think it's been ripped before, so this might be the first one :D
Description: This is the forest stage from NZC. I've ripped the sprites myself and created the leaf animation myself as well. I don't believe it's been done before, but that's because I couldn't find this stage anywhere I looked.
Installation: Place the "Forest.def" and "Forest.sff" files in your "Stages" folder and place the "Forest.mp3" in your sounds folder. That's it. Add it to your select.def and you're done.
[Conclusion] The music was cut special and made to loop. This means that after a certain point is passed, the song will play on a loop forever. The leaf animation was added because I thought this stage needed a little more than what NZC provided.

Yeah, NZC doesn't have much to offer, but It's good for what it is. I have more flexibility with characters :P

Sure, that's fine. Just don't claim it as your original stage. May I ask what you're going to change?

THX! And don`t worry i never do that.
Change the color for sure. Maybe make the stage sprites a little more bigger...Like a 10% maybe and edit it. Add a sunlight/Flare comming from the right. Add parallax to the floor. Maybe add some animals animations.
Thats what i can do atm i may came out with soething else halfway.

maybe instead of doing the changes yourself straight up, you could have provided it as a feedback/ideas to improve the stage, so that the original creator at least try to improve it (if he wants to)

hey, it's no problem: what you said you would do yourself IS actual feedback on how you think the stage could be improved (in your opinion) so it's all good ;)
edit: your english is actually better than you think it is, it was actually spot on

No need to apologize. Everything is fine. You may make those edits, however I'm not going to. My intent is for the stage to be source accurate for my game (minus tiny things like new music and the leaves falling). I'm not a fan of sun flares or other unneeded elements (only my opinion of course). I'm more of a minimalist. :)
Also, note that the stage is scaled up from the original size of the sprites. You don't want to make it too big and pixelated now, so tread lightly when making it bigger.

im not sure what you mean by color, but the sprites are the proper size considering its a DS game. I dont see why or how you should add a Solar flare to tell you the truth if you look at it, its a really dense forest, no sunlight should penetrate that. parallax the floor, thats impossible, UNLESS you want to seperate the front grass from the floor, which i might add is a single layer, thats antialiased. Not a easy feat. (unless you have patience lol) animals. koolz.

I can only imagine the platform system in that one. Good Luck!

Thanks! The trees' large branches on either side will be platforms. In the original game, the three wooden training posts where also platforms. However, for this one, it's going to depend on the size of the characters. If they look too big to be standing on that, I won't make them platforms.
