Title: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Shermie Template Up
Post by: Girard on March 12, 2013, 06:49:26 pm
Yup new thread since the old one was cluttered with a bunch of old projects that got canceled due to losing them with my old computer. Anyway since Kung Fu Man won the poll gonna start with him for now when i near finishing him if i haven't decide a character i wanna do I'll take suggestions and all that.
Don't suggest anything Strider related.

10¢ is the basic separation 15¢ for if they want a simple design added like the stripes on rock's sleeves, 50¢ for more advance/ everything being separated separation, 75¢ for all SF3 characters who aren't Twelve this price may very depending on what the separation would be. And finally $1 for Twelve, Venom, morphing characters and complex designs like allowing Spidey to get his symbiote or any other suits. Twelve price is subject to change depending on what the separation would be.
I'll still do free separations but it'll be on characters I wanna do it for and every now and then characters people vote for like Ryo, if you want anything strider related though commission is the only way I'll do it.

This is, yes, gorgeous :D hands doesn´t need to be separated it looks cool like that already :)

Good news to hear, I'm loving that kfm separation. I'm definitely not complaining since the pants of the gi was the only thing i was hoping for, aside the basic separation.

If i actually work on KFM instead of goofing off i'll finish his separation in like a week so when i finish i'm gonna take suggestion for who i should do CS for next, But after doing so much separation for Hiryu i never want to do a Strider character again be it edits for Hiryu or Separation for Hien or any other Strider character that may be made.

YES! :D You're awesome, Girard. Looks great, looking forward to it. I don't blame you for not wanting to do anything Strider/heavy helper based anymore lol. I'm sure that took a great deal of work and time. Strider is just one of those daunting tasks all around. Anyway...you wouldn't mind me suggesting Psylocke would you...? :3 I'm pretty much leaning towards working on her next. IDK if I want to use Tjun's Psylocke sff though... Or build my own... I guess it'd be more proficient all around if I just used an already compiled sff and edited it where needed... Still don't know yet though. Was thinking on Juli, but she has extra helpers in with her like Juni and Bison. Probably something you wouldn't want to do, since it's kinda like Strider in that regard.

Nah Psylocke is a good choice i was actually planning to do Color Separation for her after i finished Maki but decide I'd wait since i didn't want to do 3 ninja characters in a row. I'm fine doing characters with Helpers since they don't have a lot of sprites usually, Hiryu's Helpers where the easiest part of his Separation it was his obnoxious amount of Separation that makes me not want to deal with Strider characters now. But hey it was my first Color Separation at the time i didn't think there was such a thing as to much separation but i quickly learned i was wrong.

So i finally started on Kung Fu Man i blame work and FE:A for it taking so long
DId the stance, turn and crouch so far also made a palette based on my favorite Ryu alt color.
Also has anyone had any problems with the template making the first hair color transparent in FF i got a PM about it so wanted to see if anyone else was getting that problem since it works fine for me.

I fixed ATp's problem, he had FF3 and didn't check the "Reverse" box. I'll post some palettes later on.

KFM's Skin is merged with the wood (visible on EvilClone and PurpleBlur palettes):

So between being sick, having to go to work and having to move out of my current house by the end of this month my work on KFM will become even slower than it already is. So i've decide to go with Just No Points idea of putting up the sprites for anyone to help with in hopes of moving this along faster.
The animations done from the SFF so no one does them.

It's fine as far as I'm concerned there's never a to late post for palettes plus now i don't have to worry about not having 12 palettes to go with the patch.

Another gif of some of the work done and a Suave Dude palette.
Also ATP did animation 420 and i did animations 5000 and 5010 added them to the list of completed KFM sprites.

Add a poll for Ryo
So since I'm gonna start to take commissions i figured i might as well get opinions on the pricing i figured for every 100 sprites it'd be $10 meaning 10 sprites would be $1 and a single sprite costing 10 cents hows that sound to you guys.

Just downloaded him and thanks for the share. Not being off topic but, heck please rock that Ryo bro. I dreamed to see him with those gloves on and I know you would do him justice. Peace!

I didn't give him the gloves before so I'm still unsure if I'll be giving him them now since the reason i didn't in the first place was not being great at making them consistent.
Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Ryo Poll and Commission Pricing Discussion
Post by: Just No Point on May 01, 2013, 05:01:08 am
That's actually VERY cheap!

The price should have a bit of a range on it depending on the complexity of the separation.

I'm going to pay you $40-$50 to separate Elena from SF3 but I want each pixel to have a specific color! :P
Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Ryo Poll and Commission Pricing Discussion
Post by: The Fisher King on May 01, 2013, 05:41:50 am
$10 for 100 sprites is way too cheap, you could raise that price to $20 at still would a pretty nice price ($2 per sprite) and as JNP said the price can vary depending on the complexity of the sprites.

Put, for example: Any incarnation of Ryu, let´s say CvS sprites vs Spiral. Obviously both can vary in difficulty (I know it by personal experience) so you won´t charge the same for both since you will need to burn some neurones for Spiral... just an example.

Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Ryo Poll and Commission Pricing Discussion
Post by: Just No Point on May 01, 2013, 01:35:07 pm
$2 per sprite may be a bit much. That could easily get in the $300-$400 range for a complete character and isn't competitive with many custom character commissions.

Unless it's just ridiculous separation it shouldn't take but about a minute or 2 per sprite.

I think you should start at $0.10 a sprite and go up to $1.00 depending on complexity. And add a disclaimer that you are not obligated to say yes to any job.

I totally forgot to include something about price changing depending on what's being done, the price i have now was just based on what i was asked to commission when i get farther ahead on commissions I'll just make a chart explaining the prices or something.
Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Ryo Poll and Commission Pricing Discussion
Post by: Girard on May 05, 2013, 09:23:51 pm
So I got the commission pricing settled
(http://pbr848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/CommissionPricing.png)

10¢ is the basic separation 15¢ for if they want a simple design added like the stripes on rock's sleeves, 50¢ for more advance/ everything being separated separation, 75¢ for all SF3 characters who aren't Twelve this price may very depending on what the separation would be. I'll still do free separations but it'll be on characters I wanna do it for and every now and then characters people vote for like Ryo, if you want anything strider related though commission is the only way I'll do it.

And since I assume some people are curious as to who the character I was commissioned to color separate it's Rugal's son this template isn't final as I'm waiting for Mr Karate JKA input on it, left the shoes the same color as the pants since there is no define line of where the boots end and the pants begin and since I'm not that great at keeping that consistent across the sprites I left it out for now I also feel I did more separation on rose then needed. Anyway I'll be doing him after I finish psylocke and before I start ryo.

Adel's palette template is done added separation for the boots after all only color him and Rose share now is the white of the eyes, people can make palettes with this template now.

Made a Rugal palette.

Also redid Ryo's template add separation for his gloves but removed the feet and leg wrap separation as a result I'm removing the Mr. Karate all the other palettes made I'll update unless people wanna update the ones they made themselves.

That would be awesome as fuck, but I think Rajaa is actually going in a different direction, and has like 56398437589034 WIP's at the moment.  However, Someone just needs to take CrazyKoopa's and his and mash them together and add these separated sprites so we can die happy with a fancy Ryo.
Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Palette time
Post by: Girard on May 08, 2013, 04:04:09 am
Ryo separation is for CrazyKoopa's since the stuff i have from before my hard drive crashed is applied to that Ryo, probably won't make a patch for any other version much like the other character's I've done patches for only time i was going to make another patch was for Rajaa's Maki but it turned out between the separation i did and the effects Rajaa used there wasn't enough room for all the colors so i quit it. Also I'm just plain lazy and don't wanna have to match the sprites in a different SFF. I'll release the sprite so someone else could do it if they want or someone can use them and make a new Ryo.

In Adel´s template the very first tone of the skin mixes with the glove trim/belt thing part. I´m paletting the shit out of that, please fix it!

I forgot to say this earlier, you did a wonderful job with Kung Fu Man's Separation.
Everything else also is quite interesting.

Here is a palette for Ryo:
- Blood Red Fingers

I might make more for Ryo if I had more ideas on me.
I have done some Psylocke palettes but I feel like they need some tweaking before I post them.

Was guy ever finished by you or whomever? If not then I'm willing to commision you or whomever for a basic color seperated pack. I have a sprite pack that's already indexed and has his default shared pal.

Thanks.

Finally started on Psylocke been busy as of lat so i hope i can get her done in a reasonable amount of time so DivineWolf doesn't have to wait on me to release her.

Nah, you're all good sir. Whether you need time to finish her up or not is fine. I appreciate your help and willingness to CS at all. I'm never one to put any pressure on anyone. Especially anyone helping me out with a project. Whenever you get her done is good with me.

Well that's good to know but I'll still try to get her done a soon as i can since i don't want it to turn into another Maki or Hiryu where it took me a year to complete the separation.

Since JNP's idea was really helpful last time I'm putting up some of Psylocke's sprites for anyone who wants to help. Template and palette act are include in the download.

Anyway so Adel was suppose to be the next project but as i'm sure people know Mikel released a Adel separation which make's it pointless for me to do one so i'm canceling that which means Ryo is up next also put up a poll to decide who's after Ryo i'll reveal what character each option is after i close the poll.

Gonna reveal the character who is in dead last later today.
So i think Ryo's default palette is terrible mainly because of the hair anyone want to make a new default or should i just go with the KoFXIII palette Froz made as the default?
Also i have decided against giving Ryo the separation for fingerless gloves i just don't have the patience to add them so the palette template has been updated again i updated all the palettes to fit to it as well.
Here's the new template also anyone know if a Midnight Bliss for CvS Ryo exist?
@Gogngos you might want to the blood red finger and hand injures palettes you made as right now the finger colors are now his whole hand color not sure if you want to keep it that way or change it.

Or just go with 2002 Athena which is clearly the best Athena anyway

FUCK YEAH, just do that.  PLZ!

If Koopakot updates his Athena (if he made a 2002 one since i'm not sure which Athena he did) I'll definitely do her after whoever wins if she does lose if not it'll depend on if i get any ideas or commisions after i do the poll winner.

I actually don't mind the idea with the finger colours becoming the entire hand colour due to your decision of not having fingerless gloves.

I'll most likely might keep the fingers/hands that way for both of the specified palettes.

Witty topic titles?
I'm not good at that kind of thing, but what about "Choose your Psycho Soldier"?

Only problem with this is people would most likely assume they'd be selecting from characters on the Psycho Soldier team.

the 3rd band color is shared with the bottom of the pants
the 3rd u shirt color is shared with the arms of the crouch sprite

Yea the eye and teeth are meant to be the same since he doesn't show his teeth to often from what i recall
That's the leg band so i just left it the same color as his arm bands
I assumed it was his undershirt showing since it was the same color so i just left it the same.
Also thanks for the help if you want you don't have to index them since when i open them in photoshop it flips the palette table

We're going clothes shopping! Psycho Soldier style! = Witty topic title?

I like this one I'll just need to shorten the title so it doesn't exceed the limit.

I made an unfunny little quip in my palette release topic (unnecessary shill) in the first post that you could use.

Only problem is her XI outfit is already good for separation and none of the other outfits are Schoolgirl outfit

Hey sorry If I'm being dumb, but the gloves share all the colors and the image is on a format called PNG-ORIGINAL?
please clarify this a little for me, I'd like to do some pals

I assume u mean on the palette table his old separation had the fingerless gloves which i decided against but i guess i forgot to remove the gloves label on the template but under the palette table it's all gray because their no longer on their so it would be hands to change for the gloves also the orignal is just something Photobucket adds at the end of the images when u save it, it should be a regular PNG. it'll just have the file name be Ryotemplate 4.png.~orignal.png or just use this link (http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/Ryo/Ryotemplate-4.png)

One question: How much would it cost for me, if you would expand an already existing CS for just one sprite and recolor an FX in order to be compatible with a CS?
Because I'm working on a CS for an upcoming character, and I really don't want the FX colors to mix with the main parts. Additionally, I'm running out of color values.
I need that sprite with the expanded CS only for reference purposes, so I know, what colors I should use, since I really want to finish the CS myself.
Thanks in advance!

Post by: Girard on September 03, 2013, 08:13:30 pm
So an update on the situation JTP Color Separated like 97% of Ryo so right now i'm just adding his Sprites to the SFF and fixing any mistakes before i release the patch which should be sometime this week so i know Athena was suppose to be next but the reason i haven't really worked on Ryo is also gonna push her back.

Long story short my Grandma had a stroke 10+years ago she's paralyzed in the whole right half her body, A couple months ago my Aunt who was taking care found out she has cancer so with Chemo she couldn't take care of my grandma alone anymore so my family moved in to help. In June we found out my Grandma also now has Cancer all over her body now she can't get out of bed anymore they gave her up to 3 months to live and then they had to do Surgery for my Aunt's cancer so now she can't help us anymore. So right now it's just me my mom and sister taking care of the two of them for a while and now my Grandpa on my Dad's side also found he has cancer and they gave him about 7 days left to live.

So between this and work i didn't get much work done on Ryo but Thanks to JTP Ryo got done but until this all passes i won't be starting Athena cause she is gonna be more complicated depending on which Athena is chosen. I may do other Small CS in the mean time since it takes my mind off of things and helps me relax but don't expect Athena anytime soon.

But anyway here's the preview of what i would do for the Athena's none are final and i won't promise that the Athena chosen in the poll will be the one i do end up doing for example 2k1 Athena's dress trim is a pain in the ass considering it shares with her skin color so i may not be up to doing that outfit if it wins.

I'm not very good with FX's but essentially what your asking is for a Template right since you want to finish it yourself?

My condolences to you and your family. Stay strong and God bless.

I thought the Athena that Hero was gonna make was CS'd(CVS)... Zero-Sennin used that SFF for his Athena and it's CS'd right? If so, you shouldn't have to worry about that. Hero released the beta for his Athena, I have it, I can double check to see if she's CS'd.

Not a template like in terms of the finished CS templates, but yes, one reference sprite, so I know, which colors for which parts.

Agnibyte already did a color separation for a CvS Athena (Warusaki´s). The rest are looking pretty nice, let´s see which wins.

Thanks guys.

I forgot about those but the Athena by Hero i have only has the headband and belt separated from her skin unless there is a more recent version and Agnibyte's doesn't have the gloves, hairband and shoes separated from the dress but i can use that as a base to cut down work if the CvS one wins which shouldn't because 2K2 is the best Athena.

About the MB, I don't recall who did it; but I'm sure it wasn't me, I extracted it from Anjel's sff.

I'm a dumb ass i made the riddle poll with only SNK style sprites cause i wanted to do one of them and then i go and put a CvS option on the poll and of course it would be the one in the lead. Anyway the Ryo patch should be up tomorrow unless something happens, So i was thinking of updating Psylocke to my original plans before i scrapped it since i didn't think it would look good and had no idea for palettes with it you'd be able to make palette like these but you know not as terrible Any opinions.

Didn't someone already make a really intensive separation set for Warusaki's CVS Athena SFF?  I don't see how you can get much more separated than that.

I voted 02.  If you didn't I don't like you and you aren't my friend.

Never heard of it.

I think that you should do it. I was planning on separating her just like that myself soon (though I'd make the bands on her arms and thighs able to disappear entirely).

No Ryo today my uncle passed yesterday and my grandpa this morning so I won't be able to finish Ryo today.
Can you guys change your votes? I decieded that the CvS separation done is fine so plus I don't use CvS Athena so I'd prefer to do it on a SNK Style Athena and this way it'd be another sprite set separated for her.

'99 got so little love.  :'(
It's the next best one after 02.

In that regard, it looks fine and can be done, but the brown patch on her back leg (in the middle sprite) would look better with the next lightest skin shade.

Also, voted Psylocke... I wish I was any kind of good with effects.

Well would you look at that it's a tie guess I'll just have to do both, Psylocke first since her template is already done and i started her anyway while the poll was going on plus it's less work so it'll be faster.
The template for anyone who wants to make palettes, for anyone who already made palettes don't worry about updating them I'm gonna do that unless you want to update the palettes yourself or change them for the new separation.

for colour separated sprites I generally have colour palettes different shades of the same tone, using gfx gale I can copy-paste the groups of colour on a new palette, so I copy the 5 entries for metallic red, then the 5 for blonde hair, etc... so I can make palettes faster.

I updated my pal a bit. Ended up tweaking the shading on her forearms for the MB. I can pick colors from the pose where she's held up, but I can't pick colors from the MB pose where she's just standing... :-\ Not in FF3 anyway. Don't know how to use anything else. I might make another one now that I figured out how to pick the colors for MB.

updated the Palettes based on Kamionero's picture only real difference is the Classic X-men palette uses Cyclops blue and yellow now instead of the dull blue and yellow i used originally, and updated all my old palettes

Anyway onto Yamazaki made a rough draft template not sure if i should keep the fingers separated or not, Also it's done for Warusaki3's Yamazaki is this the best Yamazaki out there or is there a better one? Anyone know if there is a Yamazaki small port made after his 2002UM win screen art (http://www.fightabase.com/images/chars/game/yamazaki_faf-497.png) i hate the one he has now and i have no skill in small ports.

I suppose Mr. Fong's may be more popular maybe...? Though, it is not better than Waru's. It's very incomplete compared to Waru's for starters. Don't feel like going into it all... I recommend doing it for Waru's. On the subject of my pal's colors being reversed or whatever. No, I was just trying to follow the scheme of her tones with everything. Guess I messed up something along the way. :( Would you mind fixing it for me please?

You actually have a point there. The point of the whole separations for me is to have all the sprites separated and the animations in order for anyone who want to pick up the sprites, so they have a good amount of material to use for his SFF.

Why not just use the sprite rips and to get all the sprites, and then do Waru's/Mr. Fong's/whoevers?

Also, I separated Hon Fu (http://network.mugenguild.com/jmorphman/resources/Chun-Li_Color_Separated_Sprites.7z) (because he's part of Chun-Li's spriteset) so go use it and add it to the template :V

By separating a character's .sff you kill two birds with one stone since you can now effortlessly rip sprites from directly from the .sff with the axis by pressing a button in Fighter Factory Ultimate now. So yeah, I say do Waru's

Matching the sprites to the SFF is boring i mean it took me 3 months to added Ryo's sprites to the SFF after ATP sent me them and then i'd have to add the effects so it's just easier to use the SFF so the effects are already part of the template.

Thanks that'll save some work.

I added extra parts to Psylocke's separation and I wanted to know if any of you would bug out over the number of colors to color in.
The right is the original separation, the middle has the hands and face mask separated, the left has the skin within the arm/legbands separated as well. Below is a terrible Ibuki palette of the three choices. It really doesn't show the potential benefit of the extra skin separation, but I can't be mothered to make another one right now. Let me know which version you'd rather put up with.

Personally I thinking adding the mask would be nice but I don't feel like the hands need to be separated not sure about the in between yet but I'd say the decision is up to you and Divine in the end.

Made a couple fer Yamazaki. Feedback plssss. (I feel like i fucked up with that flying snake.)

Thanks for the palettes, Don't worry about the snake strike it just looks weird because its the only sprite that uses the glove lightest color.

Two new palettes from me (for Psylocke):
- Blue Custom
Http://imageshack.us/a/img35/7086/qrj5.png
- Stealth Psychic
Http://imageshack.us/a/img405/2716/nbxq.png

Thanks for the palettes the stealth psychic one is really cool.

I'll make some pals later.
BTW, what is that poll about?

Just a random poll to see peoples opinions on starter Pokémon.

The mask would be a nice addition. The rest seems really unnecessary. Come on, you want to emulate a Ibuki pal a la SF3 over anything?? Not really worth it. I would say just the mask after seeing it more carefully.

Up to me...? :pwn: Nah, that's entirely up to him lol. If you want to CS all of that, Drex, be my guest. Though personally, I agree with Girard's suggestion. I feel the one to the left is overly extensive. The one in the middle is nice, I'd like to see some masked pals for sure. Though, like Girard said, I don't feel the finger separation necessary. However, as I said, if you want to do it all, entirely your decision.

The mask is all I wanted (4 colors) . The other options were already separated by chance because of the way that I CS'd the sprites so I thought I'd at least present the option here. I'll go back and recolor the in-between skin, hands and belt buckle.

I was waiting for someone to try a shirtless palette i didn't think it would work but it actually looks great though in the few sprites where Yamazaki's shirt is rising up to show skin it might look weird, thanks for the palettes.

Nah, it's better this way. At this point I even tested out a method of applying Fishnets to her thighs and shoulders. All I have to do is make a reduced palette and batch-apply it to the sprites and it's done.
Oh, but don't expect a release for a bit since I have to meticulously prune for these random gray lines that were miscolored in the original sprites.

I also noticed that Hon Fu's shirt shares a color with Yamazaki's shoe (IIRC), will you be leaving that out? It's nothing major, really. I think it doesn't need fixing.

Thank you for not going full retard with the color separation.  I cannot wait to get my hands on this, as per tradition I only do palettes for finished products now, but thanks to your efforts I will have the tools necessary to unleash palettry that will surpass even my greatest work.  Then again, I guess all my work is pretty great so that's a tough call hahaha.

Thanks for the pal, Hmm strange not sure what happened there they are separated something might of happened when you saved the template cause your palette works fine with the shirt and shoe not sharing at all.

No problem i don't think there is anymore separation i could even do for him unless i made it so he could have his vest but that wouldn't work that well anyway.

So enough of that back on topic now So i realized work and playing Elsword is probably 80% of my life and since i don't have to be back to work till next Sunday and my friends isn't on to play Elsword with till afternoons, I figured I'll continue to work on the Color Separation to kill time.
Got Yamazaki's Stance and Hon Fu out of the way also made a palette

I was also planning to commission a Midnight Bliss for Yamazaki and was Considering commissioning his KoF2003 alt stance as well not sure if there is a way to make it work the way it does in KoF2003 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3e9BBKiflc) or if i would have to have it as a option you can toggle on and off though both options would require coding which i have no idea how to do and i don't know who's taking commissions right now so not sure if this idea will come to pass but i'd still like to know your guys thoughts about it.

If you were wondering if switching idle stances after a certain amount of time is possible then yes it is. SeanAltly is taking commissions. His work is very good and he's relatively fast plus what you're asking for doesn't seem very hard to do given how little Yamazaki's torso and left arm move. I could attempt (keyword ATTEMPT) a midnight bliss sprite, but I'd need a reference on how it should look.
Title: Re: Girard's CS WIP Thread: Yamazaki

A full SvC styled MB is 5 or 6 frames. One sprite where they're standing in their new form, and the others of them being drained while held up. Though generally, you can work with only 2, one standing/one held up, just fine. I'd go with the latter to save on money really. With only 2 frames, they may be even willing to do it for free. I don't really have any ideas for Yamazaki myself... Though, if you do I'd very much like to see it. If you don't, I'll try and think of something befitting to assist. As for his stance, it could just be replaced entirely, or changeable via a variable. Which wouldn't be hard to implement. Not entirely a fan of that stance though... Looks like he's halfway overdosed on something potent!

I'll have to look into that then, Was under the impression SeanAltly had a lot of Commissions i didn't want to bother him if he was busy.
For the Midnight Bliss i guess something like this would work don't worry about matching it to the template and thanks in advance for attempting.

Iirc he has a insane alter ego or he's mentally unstable i think the stance defiantly conveys that plus wouldn't hurt to have it in CvS style incase someone wants to use it for something else down the line.

and last color on Hon Fu's pants in both.

Why you people are doing palettes in FF3?? It flips the palette each time you want to color it, use FF Classic (you will need to save the template as a .PCX) or use an image edition program that can open a palette and change the colors from there.

You know you can just use the reverse pal scheme option right? I do it all the time, I only use FF3 now. There's no cause to DL a different FF version if it isn't needed.

Well you're lucky then. It does reverse the scheme when saving it and all, but all you have to do is use the above mentioned function.

Thanks for the pal guys.

Where´s the Zero Suit Samus palette??? mmm
???

I thought you hated reference palettes also the lack of finger separation would make it off.

Hey Girard. is Yamazaki a commision?? Nevermind. I totally forgot about that poll.

Are you doing Yamazaki's in order from the beginning to the end? If you send me your work files I'll start on him from the other end.

Yeah that's how i'm doing it, but what about Psylocke or is she finished and i just need to finish updating palettes? Right now i'm waiting for the 2003 stance and MB since the stance may require an extra color added and i know the MB is gonna need the shirt to be separate so when people do shirtless sprites it doesn't make the MB also shirtless but when i get that stuff i'll send you it this way there won't be as many sprites that need to be updated to the new template.

I don´t hate them, I just hate when a character is full of references especially some that don´t have anything to do with the character with the excuse of "those colors are cool" and stuff. Zero Suit Samus, I mean... Blair even got the hair :P just throwing that idea, not sure if I´m gonna make it.

It looks a bit off for the first 3 frames of it. Try to get the crosshairs axis on his neck region for each frame. It'll look right in game, even if it does look a bit off in the SFF. For that particular MB, Demitri should be holding him/her by his/her neck the entire time. By the look of that gif, it looks like he's holding Yamazaki's left(our right) shoulder on start, then left breast on the latter frames until the end.

It is good but you could move the face a little up showing a part of the chin. Is the position that is awkward but it is pretty nice.

Only if the sprites are uncropped. They all have a common axis like that. When the sprites are cropped, you have to align them manually. Yup, looks fine now. Who's ever Demitri that is though, should use a ScreenBound scrtl on the move... But I digress.

You may want to fix that face in the MB. Since you divided the face in two, you would need to do the same to his MB.

Very nice. I like the Elastigirl one a lot. Also Cap as well. Not sure about those FX for the Cap pal though... I'll have to see that myself. I think it was better to not have her face mask separated for her MB as you originally did it. The MB looks odd for those pals now to me. Especially the Ibuki one.

I suggested he made the face separation the same for the MB for the sake of consistency. And, in case, she wouldn´t a blue face in case you want to apply a blue mask. Would look pretty weird. Is just a MB but still.

Forget what I said about the .sff file. I found a way to do it that wasn't completely nerve wracking though it turns out that the palette index is upside down. It's not a big deal, really, since you can reverse the index of a palette with a single click in FFU, but here is an updated template anyway.

The fastest way to import sprites into Fighter Factory is to import them, but importing only works well if the sprites are properly labeled and aligned according to the .ffe file*.
*The .ffe file is a file generated by Fighter Factory when an .sff file's sprites are extracted. The .ffe tells Fighter Factory how to arrange the sprites, how they should be aligned, what palette each sprite should use, etc.

If you are the one CSing the sprites it's best for you to use Fighter factory to export all of the sprites from the .sff to a folder and edit the sprites from there. That way when you're done everything is properly labeled and cropped and can be inserted into an .sff file in one click.

If you've received an edited sprite pack and want to input them into an existing character you'll likely have to input the sprites and palettes one by one yourself. If you ever decided to dedicate the time to input the sprites yourself individually then please feel free to share your work as many others would appreciate your effort.

Ah, good, that's what I was gonna recommend. I personally use the "export as SprMaker" option, for easier editing of the sprite definition file (I usually end up changing something or the other in the coding process, and 'cause sprmake lets fine-tune various settings), but that's not really needed for these cases, I think. No need to figure out how to use sprmake or sff2turbo when you can do it all through Fighter Factory, after all.

Hmm, this makes me wonder, has this information ever been written down anywhere else, like in a color separation tutorial or something? I've mentioned it a few times in non-color separation help topics but nowhere in a tutorial or anything.

The effect on Hsien-Ko´s one is quite weird, you sure that´s gonna look nice in game?? I don´t know. If you change your mind, you could pull off a yellow to purple gradient, I´m pretty sure you can pull it off. The rest are fine. The custom is really pretty, I like the concept :)

Poison´s should use red boots, even if they are big.

Not quite. The Deadpool is great but the yellow still isn´t good. The last two colors should be more solid colors cause the outlines are non-existant. Take an example from this:

I changed the last two colors in the boots and sleeves. The yellow is better but the outlines had some issues so I fixed them for you. Use this for the Classic Thor one as well.

I'm a bit annoyed right now. I wanted to make one final update to the .sff to make the X on the belt an entirely independent color, but Fighter Factory will give me some sort of "wrong sprite order" error any time I try to replace the sprites. It's just 22 sprites so If anyone else wants to try adding them to the .sff then be my guest.

The light cream color doesn't look good against the skin color. The only other thing that I could do without making it look like a blue haired Cammy palette would be to color the boots and gloves a skin color and that doesn't look good.

doesn't really matter unless the MB is suppose to be special. Also no more Psylocke Palettes(unless you release them separate) patch is done and getting uploaded latter.

Why is The CS WIP Thread is Still Yamazaki?

He's still the main project i just didn't upload any of the stuff i did for him cause it would of been lost in the Psylocke palettes there where some Yamazaki palettes done in the last few pages and now Psylocke is done anyway so it's back to Yamazaki.

Fixed (hopefully) the effects on the Strider pal:

Adding the anim to his AIR file is easy. Open his AIR file up in FF, click on the green plus to the left menu where it shows the play/stop/etc. commands. This will allow you to make a new anim, it will ask you to give the anim a number. Be sure that it doesn't share a number with any other anim in his AIR file, it must have it's on unique number. Once that's done, just add the frames in order and animate them, giving proper timing ticks to each individual frame. Hit the play button feature to see it in action. Adding clsns to a stance is easy too. All you need do is add one for the body, one for the head, in the first frame. Then change the type of the clsns to clsn constant. The clsns shouldn't change during his stance. You'll have to be the judge of how you want them to be placed on him....

Though, I wonder if this stance would require a new head.pos... I suppose not, since his gethits remain the same. What do you mean you need a transitional frame between stances...? Shouldn't it be either or? I don't understand. The stance looks nice, though the problem may be him transitioning fluid from his attacks. Similiar to how people wanted JMM to add that weird Ryo stance to his edit of CK's Ryo. While it could have worked it that case, it was still pretty odd, and would have required a fair amount of working around to get it to flow well. I'm not sure just how well this stance will flow with the rest of his CvS default animations...

Oh no i already know how to do all that i was talking about  being clueless on the CLSNs.

All right that sounds easy enough to do.

What do you mean you need a transitional frame between stances...? Shouldn't it be either or? I don't understand.

Well right now i have the stance work the way it does in KoF2003 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3e9BBKiflc) where he transitions into it after a few seconds of being idle so i think i need another frame so it's more fluid in it's transition. Though i did want to give people the option to choose from having the default CVS stance, his 2003 alt stance or having it work like in the video but that would require some coding i think.

The stance looks nice, though the problem may be him transitioning fluid from his attacks. Similiar to how people wanted JMM to add that weird Ryo stance to his edit of CK's Ryo. To me it seems to work fine but i'll make a video to show case it so i can get other peoples opinions on it.

You don't need to do any coding, nor any CLSN work. Just make sure the first frame of the animation is the only frame with CLSN in it, and that those CLSN are the constant, CLSN2Default type. Also add the line "LoopStart" just before the 2k3 stance part, so it will loop correctly. Transition looks fine as it is.

So you can have normal stance as animation number 0, 2k3 stance as animation number 1, etc. If someone wants to change the animation they just need to edit the air file and switch the numbers around. Or, for lazy people, you could provide copies of the air with that already done.

That all looks fine. Good job. In response to what Iced said... That however will require coding. Nothing extremely difficult, but it will require it all the same. I think it better overall, and for you, that you just go with JMM's suggestion about handling that.

That's too bad to hear about losing motivation for him. Though, I can relate to losing interest in a project. Might be best to just put him on hold for awhile, until you get it back. Who else did you have in mind? If you don't mind me asking.

keep the original stance clsn even fi it's innacurate to teh surrent stance, other wise you will end witha  lto of balance problems as teh stance clsn is supossed to be the same as the one in the standing get hits.

While that is true, Waru's chars don't really follow suit of using the standing clsns for the high/low standing gethits. His standing anims don't use clsn constant either. All things considered, I think what he has there is fine, those aspects considered of course.

It's not about being accurate. I don't understand why you even brought that up... :-\ It's about how he mapped his clsns in general. That what he did for the alt stance shouldn't cause any balance issues like you brought up. If anything, and also to be safe though, he could take the first two clsn values from his original stance, and apply them to the alt stance. So it can work like you suggested.

Well first finishing another project but after that i'd want to CS either Shermie, Shen Woo, Athena or Malin beside Yamazaki i'm open to other suggestions though.
(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/ShermieCSthing-1.png)(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/athenacsthing.png)(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/MalinCSthing.png)(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/ShenCSthing.png)

All right changed the alt stance to the original stances clsn's guess i should of checked the 2003 Yamazaki's since they do this.

Wow i really was the only one to vote for Malin that's depressing.  Anyway i finished that other Project i was doing so now I'm ready to work on Shermie since i don't see any of the other characters getting more votes then her before i close the poll tonight. Not sure if I'm gonna keep the Separation the same may drop the hair tail, sleeves, waist band, trimming and the holes in the skirt separation unless people really like it the way it is.

I love it, but from person experience, super extensive CSes make progress waaaaay longer to the point where you lose interest. I say keep the sleeves, though.

I would've voted Malin, but you already know who that went to. :sadgoi:

Not a huge fan of extensive CS but it looks good on Shermie.

All right kept it the same but added separation for her Underwear, Cell Phone,Earrings, Mouth and Teeth. Only problem now is Ahuron's Shermie has all her effects and other miscellaneous stuff separated and they fill up her Palette table and even when i make duplicate colors share there isn't enough room. So unless i can cut the effects down enough or someone plans on making a Shermie i may just skip doing a patch and just release the Sprites when their separated. Also does anyone know if any Midnight Blisses for Shermie exist.
Don't make Palettes with this.

^This pal here looks kinda odd to me, with only her cleavage being colored differently. Coloring the shirt to match the cleavage, or vise-versa would look better imo.

What testing to see how the cleavage will look colored by itself. I was in a so-so situation with this and decided to test it, It doesn´t look too bad but I don´t think I will do that again :P

NGBC

So if i do about 10 sprites a day i should have Shermie done sometime in April though this is with me starting on January 1st, since i work Retail and with the stupid Christmas hours I'm not sure if i want to start her in December but if i do end starting her sometime later this month she may be done by the end of March.

Haha, nice. I didn't expect him as you had lost motivation on him. Though I see you got it back. Grabbing it up now. Thanks and happy b-day. :)

Eh he was half way done figured i'd might as well finish him instead of going back later, Also thanks even if my response is way delayed.

Figure I do 2 more for the heck of it.

Decided to start working on Shermie early so i added a poll to decide which palettes will be the defaults
(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Color%20Separation/Shermie/Defaults.png)
KoF 97 & 02 or NGBC for regular Shermie and KoF 97 or 02 for Orochi Shermie
Also for the palettes if people could mention which version of Shermie they are meant for it'd help.
