- According to next.rikunabi.com the next KOF is coming to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the game.

- Many overseas staffs from America, France, South Korea, and China also participated in the project.

- 3D Technology will be used instead of 2D Sprites to create the Next-Generation of KOF.

- The developers are working very hard about how they will represent the 2D image in 3D !!

- The game seems is planned for PS3 and XBOX 360.

Here's to hoping they bring back Luise Meyrink. Loved that butterfly girl. :3

SNK wants it to be out next year?  I dunno if that's a good idea, that's a lot of pressure and not much development time.

Here is what Professor translated...

http://www.mmcafe.com/cgi-bin/forums/bbs/messages/13411.shtml#64522

Quote
Well let's see, to point out the main highlights.. aside from what was previously posted on their official site, the job listing also recruits for

- Experienced Network engineers
C/C++, Protocol connection
(Programmers that can write realtime communication TCP/UDP code)

Which is great. But also to put it in other words, If they're looking for net coding staff now, that casts a shadow over rumors of better netcode with the rumored steam version.

Oh boy, and their introduction sentences are seriously ironic.

"With social network games and casual games bloating the market, we at SNKPlaymore hope to bring the joy of fighting games to people around the world as an established brand.

Our Samurai Shodown series is currently at its 20th anniversary, and our KOF series will be celecrating its 20th anniversary as well next year.

We are recruiting development staffs for our huge project: the creation of next-generation titles for our two most popular series."

And the ending sentences reads

"We have just started on our projects under the slogans of "The ultimate 3D KOF" and "The ultimate Samurai Shodown", and we will take our time to develop the games. Our results are still far away, but we are confident that you will feel a great accomplishment when the game is complete. Let us work together to create this project that fans all over the world are waiting for."

Yeah I think SNK should take their time like they did with XIII, remember how XII was rushed out and it was problematic for them.

You're already an established brand to me SNK.  T____T

Yeah I think SNK should take their time like they did with XIII, remember how XII was rushed out and it was problematic for them.

It wasn't so much "rushed out" more than it was "they used so much time and money" that they had to release something (XII) to recoup costs.

Those sprites took forever to make (the shading alone took about a year for each character). Using 3D will cut the amount of time by at least half.

lol! if they won't release it in 2014 then they'll miss the 20th anniversary. just stick with the xii sprites and add some new characters and moves for the previous ones like power dunk for terry it'll be alot more cheaper for them.

They might add all the characters from the Ash Saga(Since 98 they do a dream match at the end of each saga and they might follow that pattern!). Even MI3 is a Possibility since unlike Capcom SNK Playmore owns all of their characters!

I was saying XII was rushed out, not XIII. and XII did not sell well... So they still messed up with rushing product out.

So they will sprite several at the same time with different people working on each character like they did with KOF XII and XIII? Not like it matters anyway, they moved to 3D :(

that fancy gay can't compare to nozomu sasaki he's the VA behind yusuke urameshi, guru clef and captain tsubasa.

now if they're going to do 3d are they planing to do a 3d battle system now? like mi? or a 2.5d like sf?

Yeah Nameless, the guy who's entire backstory involves a female love interest, is the big gay.  Stop projecting.

Post by: S.D. on July 17, 2013, 11:01:23 am
Nameless is also better, gameplay-wise.
Someone's being a really dumb, hardcore fanboy, personally I find Nameless more interesting than K9999.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Duos on July 17, 2013, 11:03:47 am
I like them both, but Nameless is so much better.  His new command moves are so good and his new HSDM actually makes sense and is viable in gameplay unlike K49.

What i would love to see are some of the unpopular characters coming back too.

Chang for the first time in 3d..or Choi...and hell Yashiro, Ramon and Foxy too!

It's the 20th Anniversary so the could make a big EPIC Dream Match with a realy big roster with all the classic Teams in it, and with a good 2.5 D gameplay. *_*

I realy hope they have a good Boss Char in it, something like Geese, Krauser, or Rugal and not something like this alien thingy from MI2, what was the name from this freak again?
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

I find Nameless more interesting than K9999.
Agreed. Even after all this time I still look at K9999 as SNK Tetsuo. Because that's just what he is really.

Even though I don't care much for Nameless but he most certainly looks more interesting than K9999.

I would want them to keep B.Jenets boob size from MI.

When are they gonna name Nameless?
Ugh,ill just call him Roger till they thinkg of a name

it'd be pronounced zhe (zeh)

or zeh-dash or zeh prime

also k9999 was supposed to be a clone of k' who was supposed to be a clone of kyo, but fire was not his main attribute (only two fire attacks to speak of) instead just being a flat out homage to tetsuo in general (which i didnt mind, but just test tube baby woulda been a better story for him)

whatever

os i hope they go the gg xrd route with this because in my mind they shoulda went this way with mi

that literally wasnt even directed at you, it was a general statement what are you on about

in fact i was actually agreeing with you and pronouncing it in the japanese (phonetic language btw) way

anyway
i forgot to add the other pronunciation in that second line of my previous post, so adding on to that would be the je- sound which is why his song is called j prime in some circles

as insignificant of info as that is

Somebody is calming that he has a source in Taito Corporation that knows some info about KOF 20th Anniversary, the info is written in Korean, I tried my best to translate them using the Online Translators, I am pretty sure that I have some mistakes, so be careful :

- Next year is the 20th Anniversary of KOF, a new KOF game is expected to be revealed in March or April next year, also the same source mentioned October, it could be the release date of the game !
The next KOF is going to be a Dream Match, also the game doesn't have a number till now !
The number of the characters in the new KOF game will be more than 50, includes all the 36 characters from KOF XIII !
I couldn't understand it !
The graphics of the new KOF will be in 3D, KOF XIII couldn't offer a real dot characters in 1080P, some parts couldn't understand it !
They are facing some issues with the gameplay system, and still doing configurations and modifications on it !
The system is more user friendly, seems more easier than KOF XIII, and the combo system will be similar to KOF 98 !
Like the previous work, the same thing, but the timing will not be difficult.
Big number of development staffs and some others !

Those info are rumors, so keep in mind it may means nothing !!

I'll take all of that with a grain of salt...
but let's hypothetically say that this is all correct...

Since Nona isn't with SNKP anymore (so I heard), chances are they'll just change the model appearances to fit the new art designer's style (unless all the characters they want to add are done already, which I doubt).
They'll go back to an "older" gameplay style since it was the reason Geese wasn't in XIII (according to SNKP). I'd like the option to select between '98 and '02 mode
XIII was first announced in February 2010 (released in either June or July of the same year).

Doesn't sound too unrealistic; it's kind of what I think they'll do actually.

I really don't want to think that. I've already drummed up ideas in my head that would work for putting him in an XIII-style system, so he would definitely fit.

I think SNK is trying not make her look and play like Karin.  Those awkward sumo poses aren't really meant for a highschool girl.  Fighter's History's Ryoko is much more fun to play.

SNK doesn't own the Fighters History characters iirc, a company called G-mode does. Unless that deal from 2006 is still a thing.

I'm hearing the same thing now.  Since it's in testing I hope SNKP can work on it before release but they have yet to nail this netcode thing it seems.

While we're on the subject of taking longshots at character speculating, I have to wonder if they'll ever add MI characters to the main KOF series. Since the next one is going to use 3D models, I think that gives a better chance to bring some of them over.

But hey, at least MI crew gets acknowledged by SNK. I can't say the same for the KOF EX exclusive characters.

^^ Same problematic as with the SFEX characters =/

A third party company made the game and that company created the characters

Uh ? Checking it out, it was developped and designed by SNKP and Noise Factory, which is "a subsidiary of SNK". Not a third party. It's Falcoon, but he was in SNKP at the time.

That's the King of fighters Zillion manhua and I'm pretty sure it's not canon. G Mantle was in KoF2000 before that because he was a former mascot (before Terry). Andy Seto just did whatever he wanted in Zillion.

Naturally ! Just look at Capcom, putting Megaman everywhere they can.

I don't know why people need to assure they hate Falcoon when they say they liked some of his designs. The hate he gets is really disproportionate just for the record.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

Because he's a terrible designer and his art has really fallen off in recent years.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Nero D. on August 24, 2013, 10:39:16 pm
maybe "people" hate him because he fucked up seth and gave him heavy d's moves for no reason, gave lien gato's fuu ga moves for no reason, fucked up a lot more characters, made a mary sue main character who outta nowhere knows everybody and is the strongest of the series (think alice from the re movies) etc etc

i will "assure" this every time he is brought up for the record and for future reference
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Mgbenz on August 24, 2013, 11:03:00 pm
I'm specifically talking about why you even needed to mention it.

Yes he sucks at designs but can make hits sometimes and he annoyingly inserts himself into the games but he sure knows how to direct a fun series like MI and that's something I can not hate him for.

Btw giving Seth Heavy D's moves was a great idea. His original moveset was the blandest in the entire series and would have been out of place in a flashy combofest that is MI.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Nero D. on August 24, 2013, 11:15:41 pm
i enjoyed the games im not knocking them

it was stupid because seth is not a boxer, he doesnt even punch (if you look closely he only uses open palm or elbow attacks, and the only time he punches is during his counter super) and therefor the moves dont fit his style. they couldve given him more original moves but they decided to give him the other black mohawk'd guy's moves, it made no sense

oh and armor ralf fucking hell

Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Nomechy on August 24, 2013, 11:20:15 pm
Seth's whole design was based around practicality over style. Visually and in terms of moves. Heavy d's magic punches don't fit him at all.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

That's why I said his movelist wouldn't fit in MI.

Or Freeman from Garou, since he has a similar one; or Neo or Geo from those quiz games, as per that illustration that was on SNK's site when they went bankrupt.

If they go 3D, it'd give them a give excuse to make Kuroko return and allow a "make-a-moveset" mode just for kicks outside or any tournament viable mode, since he borrows moves from lots of people in the SS games he's in.

Not necessary related to KoF 20th but interesting anyway.

3D renders of Haohmaru and Alice (http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/slosoku/imgs/8/e/8e405a3a.jpg), done in the same style as Terry.
Likely for a future slot game... perhaps more.

Secondly, supposedly a new 2D fighter is going to be revealed in October for the Ringedge 2 arcade board. ArcSys already has Guilty Gear Xrd and Capcom likely isn't working on anything new (just putting it out there).

Did we see Geese and Nakoruru before ? I don't remember seeing them posted here or on news sites. And (going by memory here) I'm pretty sure the Terry on this image is slightly updated since the announcement that was posted a while back when SNK started hiring. Either way, that particular image apparently recently popped up on SNK's site according to this (http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2013/11/mystery-image-on-snks-website.html). It's possible they're just super late to the party but IINM that site usually has a good eye. By the way, it also mentions that SNKP finally opened a Japanese Twitter account (still empty when I checked earlier today)

More ugly renders that are indeed for pachislot. (http://26926725.at.webry.info/201310/index.html)

Robert (give him some eyebrows man) and Mai (boobs :) ) are revealed.

Mai actually looks pretty good (I'm speaking of the render of course)... could be because they didn't "moe-ify" her eyes. Give her better skin texture and she would actually look acceptable for an in game model.

I guess this is how we're going to be introduced to the new models (pretty anti-climatic). :-\

Also, the article said that there are three titles titles "S, G, and D"... I'm not interested in guessing what they mean. I will say that according to the translation I found via MMCafe (http://www.mmcafe.com/cgi-bin/forums/bbs/messages/13447.shtml#65961) it read "graphics are for illustrative purposes only" (partially explains why their appearances have been altered).

I don't know about KoF (which makes me fearful), but with SamSho I'm sure they'll go for a more stylistic look than what they have now. Nakoruru's model will look less creepy with a cel-shaded render. Then again this is SNKP so I'm not holding my breath.

Not 3D KoF but kinda related since they'll all supposedly use the same style... and I can't change the entire thread name (long-term) for obvious reasons.

Models don't look as bad in action... at least they're fixable. They appear to have expressive facial expressions, so that's good.

EDIT: Pachinko game.

IIRC, it's illegal to showcase explicit violence (a la, anything like SamSho or MK) in Japanese entertainment centers (I think it had something to do with SamSho 5). The arcade version to Sen (shitty 3D version) had no blood (which of course the Console version does).

Its just a for a fucking pachinko game or?

Yeah, but at least these assets can be reused in an actual game engine. The Barbie doll models of DoA were also recently used in a pachislot title.

Too bad his redesign looks awful on him and the model itself doesn't help any.

That said, SNKP uploaded pictures on the SS pachislot website. (http://slot.snkplaymore.co.jp/official/samurai_kengou/download/) They're in zip files (and there's a handful of them, most of them having lots of pictures), but I uploaded some of the images.

Haohmaru: 01 (http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj194/Niitris/0001_01_zps2a3a53ec.png) 02 (http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj194/Niitris/0001_02_zpsea2b1992.png)

Zankuro and Rasetsumaru also appear, but they're in 2D artwork form.

The only zoomed out shot of Haohmaru looked laughably bad (figures), but overall they don't look bad everywhere. Cel-shading would likely make these models look a little better. At least the sense of color seems to resemble Neo-Geo SS (looks most apparent on Ukyo).

What game? They aren't making anything, just pachinko crap.
Pachislot are games. Simple and mostly with added gimmicks, but still games, and there's a reason why they're popular.
They're addictive in incredibly short bursts and amass an equally convenient profit for players depending where and how they're set up. Like prizes or even more coins to play other stuff with. Plus it's not like most don't have skill stop so it's barely ever luck-based; they're actual games.

Jus' sayin'.

Also what [E] said. :V
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

Also, people forget that Kawasaki (Founder) created Playmore when Pachislot was on fire, and used that as the springboard to acquire (reclaim) the rights to SNK.

They aren't going to abandon arguably their biggest source of profit because real gamers don't like it.

It can work but Terry has to steal the scrolls of immortality from Geese first.
But if I think about it, the Alice stalker girl can do it for him, so he can focus on throwing Geese "accidentally" from his tower again.

It's like the third time this is getting a topic or a post in a different topic, and each time people complain it's a Pachislot game, and each time it's pointed out that pachislots are what saved SNK from bankruptcy. Why do they put energy into these games ? Because they bring money no matter how dumb you think they are (guess what, you don't live in Japan and this isn't marketed for you), and the dream match you want costs money. A lot of it.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

@DKDC:

Never knew of this thread here. But yeah it still bugs me on these Pachislot games since im not seeing anything else new. Im no fool to not know ANY kind of game brings money. But from me who grew up on fighting games. adventure games and all that stuff SNK brought to us over the years it looks like this a dying light for them. I havent seen anything new since KOF XIII. Im a fan of SNK so yeah thats why i brought it up.

Anyway my point is instead of putting so much energy into new casino slot games why not put out something entirely new for us traditional arcade and console gamers? Yeah yeah so what they are into slot games now. Konami is doing that stuff hard too now but at least they are bringing out new game titles when they can also. You can do both. use better marketing and clean up whats going on in house. hell its been said already Capcom does want to do a new CVS3 game BUT they have to clean up their in house issues....

But i got ya though casino games will save the day for dying SNK in the end....sure^^ Its never been pointed out to me personally that those casino games saved them so i cant co sign with that. I only knew of like two games er somethin....I missed any articles saying SNK is being saved now by slot games

thanks for the tip

Quote
I missed any articles saying SNK is being saved now by slot games
There isn't any article, at least not in English, because it's not for the English-speaking market. There have been several news about those types of games over the years since the Eolith sinking ship, there have been posts about it on this forum but it never brought attention - again, because we're not the target market. There have been a few of these games over the years, while we've always known since Eolith that SNK had trouble surviving. Since they're still around, it becomes obvious that these games are the only thing keeping them alive, considering they haven't made anything else in a while, and they do keep making these games.
Did you think they did nothing since Maximum Impact 2, suddenly came back for XII, did nothing, came back with XIII, and then did nothing again, but somehow still survive to this day like that ?

so youre saying slot games are their thing officially now? nice
There were worries at some point that they would drop regular games, but they announced no such thing since then and XIII came after those rumors. General belief right now (since the last few years) is that they use Pachislot games to fund the making of new assets, such as the models and everything in that video, in the hope of one day making one big fighting game again.

Trust me i know they are hurting now. I was at the SNK forum a few years ago reading what i could and then it went to dead air. Oh im sure they did something alright. A lot of SNK collection games on import disc and for download on XBL & PSN. aware of all that. Im just bummed that this is the fate and reality of the once very strong fighting and action game company SNK

As for the news usually id catch stuff like that on IGN or TFG but i never seen any news. just because the news isnt in english doesnt mean someone can translate and bring it to the front. Magic box gaming news did that a lot and even Kotaku news. But anyway i understand that making games, spriting or whatever takes a lot of money just having a staff of developers and artists at that to do it. Hell we still have capcom, Namco(bandai) and konami still pumping out material but damn this is how bad SNK is now? you just gave me an official news today that YES SNK is dying its down to casino slot games now. so whats the next thing? Die like Jaleco? smh sad

So on that note thanks for putting me on WHY its not a waste for them to put all their funding into slot games. Ive seen konami do both so thats why it baffled me. They are not the arcade and console company we once knew then....

I'm pretty sure they never report on pachinko machines and the likes, that's why. If you dig in this topic and maybe the last SNK topic a few pages back in this section, you'll see that only some hardcore diggers found infos on these slot machines and sometimes their "now hiring" announcements. News sites never talk about those things.
but damn this is how bad SNK is now?
It's been in the dumpster ever since the Eolith and SNK Playmore fiascos. KoF2000 was already their swan song, their dying achievement, Eolith miraculously bought them back but then it tanked hard, SNK returned as SNK Playmore and that didn't do any better (I think it's back to just SNK again now). Not counting the alliance with that Chinese rip-off a couple years back. This was about 14 years ago.

Oh ok i got you. sounds like SNK needs a prayer at this point. So Its a hit or miss they may come back decent with the games if these slot games dont feed em well enough to revive again within the fighting game community or normal gaming community period. But yeah i saw the slot game news from TFG & magic box international gaming news in speckles. Those articles on slot games are pretty small and for obvious reasons i see

That's the western market. But that market has pretty much never existed for them. Actually, in the Asian market, over the last decade we did see an attempt at some sort of beat 'em up with KoF characters, and a sort of WoW-like game with KoF characters, from some Korean and Chinese companies I think. Again, there's no chance that any news site over here ever pointed them out. It's only on forums like this one here or that one whose name I forgot with a guy who always translates everything about SNK, Dr. something I think, maybe on Cyberfanatix, that you find this kind of info.

SNKP isn't as dead in the water as people believe. They just caught themselves in a unprofitable business model in the middle of the console generation, as well as other circumstances.

Playmore's plan for this passing gen was to bring about a "rebirth" of 2D pixel art (which was KoF12's tagline). That was going to be the new foundation for their games. But they didn't have the manpower to pump out 2D pixel art in the frequency they wanted to. Obviously they didn't succeed on that, and being that they had no other viable assets they could use for PS3/360 games, their only option was to make a followup to 12 (outside of repacking their older games of course).

This was not helped by the fact that a certain ex-President of the SNK Playmore Corporation wanted to disassemble the games division. Rumor had it that they wanted to do a Samurai Shodown reboot in the same style as XII/XIII, but it was scrapped for a Pachislot machine in the same vein (I don't remember where I found this info and I doubt it's legitimacy anyway).

What Playmore's plan is for the coming generation is to use 3D technology (like every other major video game company) to make games in their signature style; they're pretty much starting over. Pachislot will make them quick money for now (as well as practice on 3DGC for the real things).

IIRC, Guilty Gear Xrd's CG were also used for Slot Machines.

They should just move to FPS games, that's where the money is! I'm dying to play a realistic FPS KOF game.

lol nahh maybe a FPS metal slug er something would be better

@ DKDC

Oh ok i got you. sounds like SNK needs a prayer at this point. So Its a hit or miss they may come back decent with the games if these slot games dont feed em well enough to revive again within the fighting game community or normal gaming community period. But yeah i saw the slot game news from TFG & magic box international gaming news in speckles. Those articles on slot games are pretty small and for obvious reasons i see

Anyway thanks for the ear full.....at least i know now those slot games serve some sort of purpose to feed the future of new games by SNK possibly

3rd person metal slug with the ikari warriors plus random abilities and supers.

That would be pretty wild actually. How you said it with the "random Abilities and supers and in 3rd person" reminds me of the old Dreamcast game: Spawn In Demons Hand  :devilish:

But A First Person Shooter thats Metal Slug would be crazy to see if done right

Alright. I jaunted over to an alternate universe to find such a thing (in this universe SNK licensed off its IP because pachinko is illegal), here is a short description taken from various reviews and ads:

Your name is Kyo Killam, code name: Kusanagi; however, you are only referred to something other than your last name twice. You are allegedly at least part Asian but honestly though, you look like you're Anna Faris's brother or something.

It is in the not so distant future; governments have collapsed and everything is run by mega-corporations, who use advertising to plant subliminal messages into the minds of their customer/citizens. This is very thoughtful, very insightful social commentary. You are a mercenary, employed by the NJP company. Your squad, KOF, is deployed to handle delicate cases involving espionage and all out war against your rival mega-corporations. Your teammates are T-Bone Bogard (think Cole from Gears of War, but written and portrayed incredibly offensively), Mai Shiranui (repeatedly insists her cleavage exposing, functionality-destroying modifications to her tactical armor is a form of empowerment, is hot for Kyo), and Billy Cain (the tech guy, has a soul patch). Your main fire arm is the Type 108 Yami Barai, pronounced by every character as "Yammy Barry".

Your mission in this game is to infiltrate the island stronghold Hakkesshu of the Black Noah corporation, run by the mysterious R. Bernstein, who is only referred to by other characters as R, often while yelling very loudly. This prompts the creation of thousands of videos, images, and the like of adding eye patches and parrots and stuff to the characters whenever they yell out "Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr" (because pirates). Your mission is to eliminate their special weapons division that is rumored to have developed technology that will allow them to dominate the world.

Shortly into this mission Kyo gets injected with Black Noah's secret project: Orochi, an advanced nanotech system designed to create supersoldiers. By building up your rage meter, you can activate Orochi mode and enable bullet time and cinematic kills. There is zero fire involved; at no point does Kyo use fire in the game.

You encounter many characters as your enemies on your mission that are from the original KOF games that have been creatively and indicatively re-conceptualized; Athena, whose clothing is made entirely out of buckles for no apparent reason; Ryo Sakazaki, who is portrayed as a wizened old martial arts master who nonetheless still uses a gun; and of course Kyo's rival, Iori, who is actually Kyo's secret twin brother who also possesses the Orochi nanomachines. The final boss is Rugal, who is not missing an eye and does not have any facial hair. He mutates into a hideous blob monster thing with eight heads for his second form after injecting himself with Orochi. The game ends with some sequel bait, hinting that Iori has survived.

Yeah they's been doing this for years.

Siliconera states it will be a 3D fighting game. (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/05/new-3d-king-fighters-game-development/)

An SNK Playmore official said:
Indeed, a new installment in 3D in the KOF series is currently in preparation.

Seems they may not take the SF4's route; lines up with Playmore's quote of making "the ultimate 3D KoF."

They may be refering to just graphics, I don't think they will go with the 3D gameplay.
And they said the same about XII, the ultimate 2D KOF, yet, we know what happened.

It ticks me off that they can't release more on play station network or wii u virtual consoles.
They always release the oldest titles and only get about 3 years out at most. And these games were severely gimped by not having basic 2 player.
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: Niitris on August 05, 2014, 04:42:17 pm
Yeah that's the impression I got too which is why I put the official quote. Only thing that's been confirmed is that the next game isn't using sprites.

VC got pretty far iirc, certainly more so than NeoGeo station. They couldn't even release SS2; worst part is that NGS netcode was actually decent (much better than the putrid XBLA netcode).

More SNK than just KoF, but trademarks registrations have come up :

- Athena Asamiya (note: this was filed earlier in 2014 as well)

I hope the 3D KoF in the work isn't a Maximum Impact, but I hope even more that it comes out whatever it is, so yeah. There were also logos registered for Athena Asamiya, and then there's Last Blade...

- Athena Asamiya (note: this was filed earlier in 2014 as well)

What I hope for: SNKP to put their 3DGC to good use and make their own version of Project Diva starring the one and only, somehow making a decent rhythm game with extensive outfit customization, numerous music tracks, and an unrivaled concert atmosphere (and sparkles).

What will happen: a shitty mobile game with none of the above, can't wait.

More Last Blade would be nice.

Same hopes for me, if they make a 3D KoF it should be one with classic gameplay, and it would be Nice to get a new Last Blade after all the Samurai Showdown games, but I have a question.

Wasn't Gekka no Kenshi (Swordsman of the Moonlight) the title of the first Last Blade?
So it could be a port of the old game right?
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary
Post by: DKDC on August 26, 2014, 11:26:08 am
Bakumatsu Rouman: Gekka no Kenshi is the Japanese name of Last Blade. Last Blade 2's full Japanese name is Bakumatsu Rouman Dainimaku: Gekka no Kenshi - Tsuki ni Saku Hana, Chiri Yuku Hana. So that's not specifically the first game, no, more likely a revival or a reboot (using the "subtitle" as the new main title).
That's a mouthful. Last Blade 2 is better. (the "dainimaku" after Bakumatsu Rouman means "chapter 2")
Title: Re: The King of Fighters ~ 20th Anniversary

I bet 20 bucks the Last Blade one will be really another Pachinko games.

After they did it with Fatal Fury, KOF and Samurai Shodown it would just make sense to use another old IP for that shit.

KOF Maximum Impact? Most likely another Pachinko game as well but with the KOF MI Setting.

The King of Fighters

That will be the new KOF game, it will be a reboot, it will just have the simple name King of Fighters. It will have classic 2d gameplay but 3d graphics.

Damn me if I don't have right as usual.

They'll just port the old games to Steam or iOS/Android, like they've been doing lately.

And in the unlikely chance they ever do a Last Blade sequel, they'll probably go the Garou route and make a generation shift with an entirely new cast with one or two returning characters, since almost half the original cast is dead.
