Title: Sage's CS WIPs/Commissions and Character Sprite Thread
Post by: SageHarpuiaJDJ on July 31, 2013, 03:39:14 am
Note: A template is not final unless the Spoiler tag says 'final'. When A project is complete, the spoiler tag will say 'COMPLETE!!!' and have a link to the it's download.
Spoiler: How Commissions work:(click to see content)
-If you want it to be private, post your request in a spoiler tag, otherwise, just ask for a separation. -I won't separate 'digital' sprites. By that I mean sprite like MK, KI and so on. -I won't separate CPS-3 or Hi Res sprites either. I like my sanity. -I can't finish separating sprites at an estimated amount of time, so I don't recommend giving deadlines. -When I'm doing a personal project, I can put it on hold for your commission. -I will only take two commission at a time. One if I REALLY got my hands full. -Pricing: Commissions will cost depending on the style of the sprite and the amount of sprites. CvS: $0.15 per sprite SNK: $0.20 per sprite CPS-2: $0.30 per sprite Other: Depends.
Spoiler: Commissions:(click to see content)
Currently Open. Only taking two right now. PayPal: jarelledjones@yahoo.com 1. Mr. Karate JKA. 2.
Looks good Sage, are you planning on making him in the future?
Yep. I've had a whole system planned out as well, I'll link to my Idea topic tomorrow. I'm sleepy right now.

Updated first post with some future projects. There's nothing in the spoilers until I get to making samples.

Y'know JMM's Ken is already CS'd. You can even get the sprites alone with axis from his page hosted here. One less char you have to CS.

Maybe he wants to color seperate SF3 Ken.

Thanks for the heads up. I plan on using the sprites that JMorph CSed when I start coding, but the reason I making my own is to test my limits. I may include it in another SFF file.
Btw, all the WIP character CSs are now up. The mystery character is sorta obvious.

There´s already a color separated Makoto spriteset with the same amount of colors like yours (for KojiroBadness´ Makoto still in progress). Iori too. Everything else looks good :)

Thanks again. Well since those two already have the same type of CS, I'm just gonna focus on coding them. Their sprites will still be there, but only to show the progress.

Lol thanks. I think I'm gonna switch gears and CS his sprites first since I REALLY want to code him soon and have Rock as a side project. Jin's CS was a. Fucking. Pain. I really like the character as well as his design and playstyle. Speaking of which, do you guys like the idea of his inputs being somewhat like Charlie from Street Fighter Alpha? I can explain in depth if needed.

I'll try to give you the sprites with the axis, since the sprite pack i released didn't have it, and it's going to be a pain sorting them.

After a little thinking I've decided to mainly focus on two characters: coding one and CSing one.
Here are the lucky winners!
Spoiler: My very first full character will be...(click to see content)
(http://images.wikia.com/streetfighter/images/2/26/Ken_Masters_(MSHvSF).png) Ken Masters! Using JMorph's Already CSed CvS sprites and a possible CS patch of my own in the future!
Spoiler: and the first CS that will be done first...(click to see content)
(http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/187/8/7/lynn_baker_by_seaechiowai-d3l8n16.png) Lynn Baker! She has a small amount of sprites and they are fairly easy to CS! She may the next character that I do but I'm not sure.
I'm gonna study some code tomorrow and over the weekend. I may study a few codes in the code library here.

For another side, I think ken no need another color separation, because ken of Jmorphman is ok with his color separation, I preffer Akuma of pots is more necesary because isn't has.

Is fantastic, if I understand well.

If there's a SFA CvS Ken out there, I'll do it, but I'm doing the current Ken. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

ok no problem, and ken sfa with cvs sprites doesn't exist only 3 or 4 sprites :S, and when you put an image of ken of street fighter alpha, I thought you mean that.

Yeah. Somewhat. He'll still have his command grab input and his command dive kick will be QCF.
As far as Jin goes I hope you mix it up a little or you can try to keep him source accurate. Don't know if your aware of the collaboration R@CE Akira and Infinite did but hopefully this vid my give some help.

Ah. Thanks for that. Well my computer got some serious collateral damage done to it, but I'm going to try not to give up so easily. Right now I'm learning the basics of simple coding, and seeing the results are very fun to do. I'll get back to CSing on Friday after I've finished backing up all my good files.
Btw, I'm going to change the title since this got moved.

Thanks. I've gotta do some work on Lynn's Hair due to the way it was behaving in FF3. After that, I'm gonna spend most of the weekend CSing her, then go back to K' on Monday.

I'm going to put up Lynn's palette Template tomorrow. Here's a few more notes: -I'm going to add a fourth CS project, but it will up to you guys on who gets the treatment. You can choose any of the characters that are here plus suggest any that you'd like to see. -There's going to be another secret character added tomorrow as well. -I think I'm going to plan another CS for the future that isn't secret. -Major progress on Lynn will be posted starting tomorrow.

Her Template is being worked on right now. The colors just got mixed up due to the way they were originally colored. I have no clue how to fix this so I'm going to rearrange it in the Palette template.
After I'm finished with the Template, I'll be accepting palettes to those who want to do them. I'm also going to post the secret future WIP and new future WIP two hours afterwards.

New CS projects added to first page. I still plan on that fourth project. Just need a few more suggestions. The new character there is just something that I may consider CSing on the side. Not really a full project.

You can extract it from the png file, (of course, it has to be indexed) using fighter factory or photoshop (corel works too, but its a little more complicated).

She's going to have the 'Elemental' groove system that I thought of. It's basically CvS2, but character have different strengths and weakness depending on the groove that the character has. Click the spoiler on the first page here more details. (http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/sages-character-planning--153097.0.html) Revamping PotS' Cammy is actually a good idea. Wonder no one has done yet.

Loving your choice of characters. I'm really looking forward to Jin Saotome. Too bad we won't happen anytime soon. :(
As for Makoto, you don't have to wait on me. I can hook you up with her current CS'd sprites now if you'd like. Although I'm not sure what else could be separated.

(http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteDefault1_zpsa2719938.png) 2 Defaults. One based on her Artwork. The other based on her original sprite palette slightly modified.
(http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteChun-Li-ish_zps8a93ab26.png) Chun Li-ish. Guess why there's an ish there.
(http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteGoldenStreetwalker_zpsc22c16ef.png) Custom palette called golden streetwalker. Aka Lynn's Hooker uniform lol.
I think making some minor edits here and there will make these and other palettes look more accurate. Should I?

If your referring to the back leg and shorts not having the same shading so it looks weirds when you make them the same color i say go for it if it's not to much of a hassle. 2 customs Act files (http://www.mediafire.com/?6v1b5oy0cuuhp9l) (http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Palettes/Girard_AL.png)(http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab43/Moon-Girard/Palettes/Girard_ALAlt.png)
Oh. Well they're for for my own project, but I can make a patch in future. In fact, I may do that for a lot of characters that I plan on CSing.
PoTS Cammy has some separation done for her already [E]'s asking if your gonna use that as or base and improve it or start from scratch.

Post by: SageHarpuiaJDJ on August 24, 2013, 05:51:40 pm
^Ah. I haven't really seen the CS for PotS' Cammy. Using it as a base does sound like a good idea. I think that's what I going to do since her sprites are just a mess color wise.
Last ones for the day: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteBeatifulSorrow_zps78bac9a1.png) Custom palette that I call beautiful sorrow.
(http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteRisingDarkness_zpse45ec695.png) A palette with one of my favorite color combinations that I call Rising Darkness.
I'm gonna remove Makoto and maybe Ken. Makoto because my CS is the same as Korijo's. I also have the sprites now so I don't need to CS her anymore. Ken because the CS that I did isn't nothing special and JMorph's is fine enough. I'll also start editing the sprites already that I already CSed so the areas that was mentioned won't look weird.
Thanks for palettes, Zephyt. The second one is very cool. Mind if I call you Zephyr for short?

I dunno. I usually try not to rush, but I make a lot of mistakes and sometimes I take a break. I'd say I Color Separate at least 7 or 8 sprites per day. I can do more, but that's based on all the other things I do outside MUGEN and whatnot.

I was planning on doing that, actually. Usually when I see palette templates they have the stance, a motion, two attacks, a special, and maybe a pose showing parts that isn't shown in other sprites. I plan on adding at least 4 of these when I update the template.
Thanks Prototype God. That Hsien Ko palette is sick.

:juggle: Juggling odds like a boss.
So I want at least over 50 palettes before I close down on those. I think I have like 30 now. Lynn will be focused on more along with Ken's coding, which will be discussed in my Character planning topic.

So I want at least over 50 palettes before I close down on those. I think I have like 30 now. Lynn will be focused on more along with Ken's coding, which will be discussed in my Character planning topic.
Yeah... right... Neji... After I finish working on Iori for today I'll make a shitload of pals for Lynn
Cool! So... who is it then? Orochimaru?

Voted in the poll - Andy is awesome, and I'd like to suggest Kazuya Mishima by Chuchoryu. It's a decent character, and I think it'd benefit hugely from a little colour seperating.

In case you're wondering what the 3 other flame colors are for, I'll talk about it in Lynn's data page on my character planning topic. I can easily separate the effects on her legs. Her hand and arm effects, however... I may request those to be separated somewhere when I get to them.

Anyways, I'm going to finish all of Lynn's basic motions tomorrow. Expect a huge update on her progress.
EDIT: Now that I've seen the results, I now have to ask: Who was the two people who voted other and didn't mention the character that he/she wanted in the post? It would really help to know what you'd like to see. I'm not a mind reader ya know.

This all of the progress that I made in 3 days. Or 4. Anyways, I'm still waiting on the people who voted other and didn't specify the character. On Friday I'm gonna make Hayoto's and Leona's Sample template. The poll also closes on Saturday.
Yes, Leona was the first secret character. I plan on replacing King and adding the poll winner along with a character of my own personal preference that WILL be hard to guess.
One more thing. I'm gonna spend at least all next week on the characters that I was supposed to help CS. I may do her sprites here and there, but progress will be slowed down sometime next week.

After seeing the CS tutorials by E and PotS, I think that my method is a tad slow. I'd like to share it you guys if that's okay.
On another note, It seems like Akuma is going to win, so I'm going to post a sample CS along with Tizoc and Sonson this evening. I'll TRY not to make Akuma's CS like Ken's CS that JMorph did. Keyword: Try. Tizoc's and Sonson's may be easier. Scratch that. If Sonson's sprites are as mixed as JinS's Sprites, we might have a problem.

Title: Re: Sage's Color Separation WIPs
Post by: SageHarpuiaJDJ on August 30, 2013, 03:51:16 am
Here's my noob method of color separating. This method is very time consuming, but can lead to some very good results.
Programs: The program that I use for CSing is Gimp. There are a few reasons for that. For one thing, Gimp allows you easy access to your color map via toolbox. A color map is seen in a lot of indexed pictures. In case you didn't know, an indexed picture is basically a picture with only certain colors that are in a color map. If you were to color something with a color that's not in the map, the image will change it into another color that's somewhat similar to one of the colors in the image. The only way that a new color will show up is that color has to added to the color map. Gimp also allows for different kinds of brushes. A brush is basically a pixelator in image makers and editors that changes or adds colors to your image. Gimp not only has different sizes of brushes, but you adjust the thickness of the brush in the tool options window. This is very helpful, which I'll explain later on. Finally, Gimp provides you with a very handy color selector. Gimp's color selector isn't as good as Graphics Gale's due to low contrast colors mixing together, which I'll go it detail more a little later, but unlike GG, you can use your brush while your image is focused on one color, meaning that the only pixels that will change is the one that is the same color of the original selected.
First up, Let's create a new image: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp1_zpsc04f6636.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp1_zpsc04f6636.png.html) When creating your new Image make sure to change the background color, which is the green box in the toolbox: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp2_zps0ce2db49.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp2_zps0ce2db49.png.html) The reason for this is you want to have your image at a certain color to make in transparent in MUGEN. Also, be sure to make the image big enough to accommodate all other images that you plan on CSing. Now, set your image to Indexed by going to Image>Mode on gimp: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp3_zpsa78e5560.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp3_zpsa78e5560.png.html) Now a menu will pop up. In this menu where it says, maximum number of colors, enter 256 and click Convert or press enter: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp4_zps6571c720.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp4_zps6571c720.png.html) Now that that's done, go to your color map: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp5_zpsf7d5dd99.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp5_zpsf7d5dd99.png.html) Notice that you only have one color. Well now we get to the boring part: Adding more. Go to the bottom of the Color map window and click add color twice: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp6_zpse3c05b5c.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp6_zpse3c05b5c.png.html) Notice that the color that was your foreground color, which in my case was black, is added to color map. In order to be more efficient, you have to have ALL of the colors in color map filled BEFORE you add your sprite's colors. This is because Gimp acts very strange. When adding one color, you have to click it twice, or it won't show up. And when it shows up, two of the same colors show up, which can make organization difficult and time consuming. Now repeat the process until all of the spaces are full: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp7_zps9f58b6ab.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp7_zps9f58b6ab.png.html) It should look like this. Now then, save this image. This will help with all your color separation needs in the future, so it would be good to keep up with it. Now for the adding the colors to your sprite. I'm gonna be using Ken as an example. Good vision and lighting is very helpful, but who really wants to strain their eyes? This is where the color selector comes in. CvS sprites are good for CSing beginners because most colors are very bright, have good contrast, and don't mix. Be known that very low contrast causes Gimp and Photoshop to select multiple colors, which means that you'll have to zoom in order to properly get the colors that you want. Now, zoom it enough to see the detail of the sprite. Select your color selector, which looks like a rectangle with different colors: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp8_zpsff8ea26e.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp8_zpsff8ea26e.png.html) After selecting it, click any area that you choose: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp9_zps33744ecf.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp9_zps33744ecf.png.html) Notice the selected areas are all fuzzy. This helps to locate colors more easily. Now go to the droplet tool and select an area with a fuzzy boundary: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp10_zpsdc7e6de0.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp10_zpsdc7e6de0.png.html) You can't really see it, but now the color that was selected as the new foreground color. It's very helpful to find the darkest of a color first. It's also helpful to focus on one color tone at a time. The Color selector helps track down those colors. Now add the color as a custom color in the color editor: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp11_zps3bbfe153.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp11_zps3bbfe153.png.html) To add the color just simply press OK and it will added to the custom colors. Now back to your empty image. Go to the second color of your color map. Change it the custom color added by double clicking it and selecting the first color that you just added. Now continue this process until you have all the colors in the first and/or second row of the color map: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp12_zpsa536ab43.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp12_zpsa536ab43.png.html) This is my preferred assortment when it comes to CSing. Mainly because it allows for easy access to colors and when done correctly, can save time in CSing. Now copy and paste the image to the the empty image. Now for the before we actually get to separating, we need to make some colors. Go the color after the last changed color and double click it: *forgot to screenshot this, but basically, It was the first color on the color on the second row highlighted* This is where spriting knowledge as well as color knowledge comes in. In order to get a really nice separation, your colors have to be different enough to not only be recognizable on the sprite, but the color map as well. Contrast is also very important and makes the CS looks very professional. If you want tips on contrast, talk with a lot of experienced people with it. And don't be afraid to take criticism. Now, create enough custom colors to match the part that's going to be separated. In this case, I'm going to separate his right(our left arm): (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp14_zpsf036d2ee.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp14_zpsf036d2ee.png.html) Now for the actual separation. Go to the color selection tool and select the darkest color on his arm. This is where multiple brush sizes play a vital role in separating. Small brush sizes can get in very important detail, but takes more size. Large brushes gets a lot of areas, but you can get the wrong area and have to completely start over. Usually the way the sprite is shaded can help with deciding which size of brush is needed. In this case a small brush that's at least 5 pixels thick will do wonders: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp15_zpsed731ae4.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp15_zpsed731ae4.png.html) Now start coloring the arm. If you make a mistake, just come back to it, but don't forget it. (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp16_zpse5d520b5.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp16_zpse5d520b5.png.html) After that's done, continue with the other colors until you get this result: (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Exp17_zps4f5ffe5e.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Exp17_zps4f5ffe5e.png.html) Nice, Isn't it? Color Separating can also be used to add special details. But that's a different story. Now delete the image by pressing delete on your keyboard and save the empty image that remains. This can help make the process quicker by already giving you your supplies.
And that's my process in a nutshell.

Eeyup. Took me awhile myself. That's why I mentioned saving empty images to prevent some of those.
Anyways, I'm gonna reduce my project list to a total of 5 characters that will have the highest priority. One will obviously be Lynn, the second will be the one that gets the most votes, which looks like Akuma, the third will be the runner up, which looks like Tizoc, the fourth will be one of my current wips that will be decided by vote, and the fifth will be a character of you guys' choosing. I'm trying not to overdo it so that's why I'm sorting it like that. I'm still gonna do the characters, but it won't be for awhile.

Basically, you name a character that has sprites already ripped or made and doesn't have a CS. Suggest that character. If the character is suggested a lot, he/she becomes an option in a poll. I'm gonna do this until I have 4 options and start the poll. It all goes smooth from there.

Well. It seems that Akuma Won and Tizoc is the runner up. Now that that's done, Time to decide to fourth and fifth characters!
First, a character from my current list which contains: Hayoto Jin Kazama Jin Satome Cammy White Leona Heidern Orochi Rock Howard
A poll will be included that will end around Saturday. You can only vote for one character at a time.
Now, to make things faster, state a character that you want to see CSed or a character that you want to see with a new CS. The top 3 or 4 will be included in a poll either Saturday or Sunday. After that's finished, I'm gonna focus only on those five characters. CSing Little by little each day. When I'm done with a character, I'll add more.
EDIT: Poll up.

@Drex: Thanks for pointing that out. Do you have a link to those sprites as well? As for SJin you made a hell of a good template even though it was for fun. In fact, I think I'm going to use the colors that you used and update the other CSs I plan on doing and haven't started. If that's okay.
I will make King's sprites and some others available soon after I finish touching up an old CS of mine.
... I don't mind you using those colors.

Yeeeeah. I separated all of ones that Dampir released. Then there were some new custom animations that used a bunch of colors that were slightly off and would've required a lot of extra work to get them to match the rest of the sprites. For example: Kula's crotch only has 3 shades of blue, but the custom sprites had 5-7 slightly different shades of blue just for that one area. I got pretty frustrated and I'm pretty sure that is one of the times that I got into a new relationship and quit MUGEN altogether for a while.

you could try and share the set with someone who is willing to finish the separation if you decided to stop it.

Again. Apparently, there's another color on the belt thing on the running frames. This is why I add extra colors to my CSes, to prevent constant updates like this. I also managed to get a few running frames done. Like I said earlier, progress will be way slow because I actually want to get a lot done on the CSes that I helping with. Progress will speed back up on the Monday after next week.
Regarding the poll, I'm going to close it tomorrow. I'm still waiting for suggestions, but I'd to ask something else: would it be better to just work on the 4 that I have now? I don't want to spend most of my time on the computer, so I need to prevent myself from overdoing things. I'll still take a fifth suggested character, but it won't get as much priority as the other 4.

Actually... That is from an old Lynn palette that I made a while back. I'm going to update all those Lynn palettes that I made soon. Speaking of Lynn, I've finished CSing her Run, Back Hop, and Light punch. Didn't feel like making gifs of the progress. Another thing, There's going to be 2 different releases when Lynn's finish: The sprites themselves and the sprites with some edits in a SFF.

same "problem" with your template as what happened with lynn, it's missing a few more action sprites, in this case of her kicking animations because her underwear shows (so yeah, same as lynn).

I'm not going to be CSing till the end of this month mainly to practice spriting. The only thing that I'm going to be doing CS related this month is finalizing Lynn's and Iroha's templates, cause want to see some awesome palettes!^^ I think that I've covered all but one thing mentioned by [E] for Iroha, as for Lynn, I need to look at the rest of her sprites to see if there some extra colors needed. I think that I covered them all, but never safe than sorry. I still need to make a new base for Rock and I'm going to CS his Idle when I do. As for Akuma and Tizoc, I haven't started Tizoc yet, but 4 frames in Akuma's idle have been separated.
In short, I'm just mainly going to be making templates and fixing templates.
Templates, Templates, Templates.

I don't think so
Just checked, and she doesn't, unfortunately. Now I have to do it. ;~;
Jk. Can't wait to start on Leona! She won't take as long either, but I want to go ahead and finish at least one CS. Btw, I want to include some Hi Res FX for Lynn in the future. Besides Froz, who's still on hiatus, who's good with FX editing?

Never thought about that. I'm just separating the sprites from the sprite pack. I can make a patch, but I've never actually played with an Iroha in Mugen before, so I don't know which one would be the best candidate for the patch.

the question would be which is the best iroha, I have not tried since 2k8 so I would not know, what I know is that back then there was a decent one and a really horrible one; then later the guys who made hentai mugen characters kept on making hentai irohas based on the decent one. so I hope that pinko's is the decent one (the other was awful so it's easy to tell), as the hentai ones did not add anything meaningful neither did they improve the char. there is a chacne pinko's is a newer iroha and better than the decent one.

Hey! A small update.
I going to put Tizoc on the future bench because he hasn't been started yet.
There are some characters that I plan on CSing too. Those characters are: -Zero by RamzaNeko and Mr Karate JKA. Zero is one of my favorite characters. CSing him and his FXs will be fun. -Nameless. Just for My buddy Quickfist. I want to start on him now, but the sprites that were ripped are screwed up Effect wise, so I'll need to find a MUGEN character. -Adon. If I can't find a Mugen character for Nameless, then I'll just do Adon's. -Rainbow Mika. I don't know if she been CSed or not, but I'd like to see what I come up with. -Yang. Also love this guy.
Besides Adon and Nameless, these won't be started anytime soon. Like I mentioned before, I might start on Adon if I can't find a Nameless Mugen character.
Now for the other characters: Lynn: I want to finish her by the end of the month. That may not come true, but I thought that I should point that out. Rock: He will get more priority when Lynn's normals are done. For now, his sprites will be CSed when I feel like doing something different. Akuma: More priority on him since he's so highly anticipated. Iroha: Nothing's changed.
Before I actually get back on these, I'm going to make small samples of the CSes. The CS samples will only be the single Idle sprite. When that's done, the OP will be updated.

About Adon...I did that colour separation in the whole thing, following Bass' instructions. Also, "yellow triangle" from his pants, and the yellow from the bandana, doesn't shares colours. Hair and pants doesn't shares colours with the arm things.
Aside that, it's nearly everything. Maybe adding a CS for his chest and/or legs but...

Well, once again I'm putting my CS projects on hold, namely because I want to restart some of them, and I haven't really gotten the energy to continue them. Lynn is the main on that will be restarted because I fucked up so badly in most of the sprites that I CSed now that I look more. I'll make her new template now and post it soon. I also want some custom effects for her. I think that there may be some in the CvtW version of her, but I'm not sure. When I come back to these, which will be February, Rock and Lynn will have the most priority, while Iroha, Nameless, and Tizoc will be on the side.
Title: Re: Sage's Color Separation WIPs (On hold till Febuary)
Post by: SageHarpuiaJDJ on December 22, 2013, 08:08:42 am
And here's the new CS along with the template. It's better sorted and is done to make progress faster. It's should only take a month when I restart Lynn's CS. The only thing that's missing is the FX, which I want to be Hi res, so you can still make palettes, but you'll have to update them when I get some Hi Res FX. I also want a Midnight Bliss for Lynn, since MBs is starting to get popular from what I'm seeing. Well, now that's done, I can focus on other stuff until I get the energy to CS again, which I hope will be February.

Here's the template with effects courtesy of Froz. (http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/LynnPaletteTemplate_zps57ed9330.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/LynnPaletteTemplate_zps57ed9330.png.html) The recolored effects are for Ex attacks.
Though that's because of an odd color scheme applied to them in general. :-\
I was going to change the effects on that palette sooner or later. I don't really do effects because they take way too long for me.
Btw, after some thought, I'm just going to separate the sprites and ask for help editing them. I also need to commission for a couple of custom animations and sprites, since I'm not really good at mirroring the appearance of official sprite like these. Which leads me to a question: would would be a good Midnight Bliss for Lynn? I may be able to make that since it's one sprite and the draining is basically getting skinner and darker shading wise.

Well.
If you're looking at the title you're prolly wondering wtf is wrong with me. Well, to answer that question, I haven't literally done jackshit at all, so I'm going to start doing jackshit, but not at a very fast pace. Turns out procrastination got the best of me, and I'll have to wait till march to go back to school. That means that I'll have time to actually finish at least one character, which is more than likely going to be Lynn. The reason why my pace is going to be slower is cause I'm going to practice other things as well, and, I spend too much fucking time on the Internet. So, there's still going to progress, but not that much.

I think I gonna need some serious help to complete Iroha, because the time it took to do Lynn's Idle, was the same time and more it took just to do one sprite for Iroha, and Lynn's Idle only took like 15-20 minutes.

I'm sick of not of doing anything but lurking, so I'm getting back on these projects when I move into my place. I'm gonna be super random on who I decide to separate on not, so expect a Lil something different each day.
Rock's progress is also on hold since there's an part that I didn't think about until Atp mentioned it, so I'm waiting until he responds to my PM.

^Now that I've actually moved into my place, and also have internet, I can now proceed with my wips. First order of business, PM ATP since it's been weeks.
And now, something interesting: See the OP? There's a character currently near completion that I'm currently separating in secret, which I've already mentioned in this thread. If someone guesses the character, not including the author of the character, I'll separate a character of their choosing, no matter how many sprites or how complicated the separation. Yes, the winner can decide how extensive the separation is, I'm doing this mainly to get the spark I had in separating sprites back when I started.

Hi! I've made some progress on Lynn since I haven't touched her in awhile now. I've finished the walk and the turns. I'll post the progress soon, but for now, have some palettes:

Since Lynn's near the 100 mark when it comes to separated sprites, I've decided to look think about what I'll do next after her and Rock, which I have no clue, so, the poll of the future has been created!!! Voting closes in a week from now. Here's some examples of some of the characters on the poll and a few explanations:
(http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m487/Jdj016/Untitled_zps999f125b.png) (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/Jdj016/media/Untitled_zps999f125b.png.html) Leona: Shared Colors. I hate shared colors with a passion, so her CS isn't gonna be as extensive. Cassandra: I've already mentioned that editing will need to be done, and I may tone her CS down a little. Pupa: I've actually been working on her behind the scenes now, and yes, she was the mystery CS character. Ryu: Haven't came up with anything yet, but I'm going for a KOFXIII look without using a lot of colors. Nameless: Been meaning to revamp a few things on his CS concept. Jin Satome: CPS2 Sprite color limits. Need I say more? Angel: I never thought that Angel had so many sprites, but I did a concept CS a while back. Iroha: I'm definitely toning her CS down.
And just for fun, a few maybes: Karin: Yeah, PotS prolly already separated her, but I think I'm going to extend his separation by a bit. Yuki: Gonna be a SERIOUS pain, but maybe...? Zero: Both SvC verision and Ramza's CvS version. Because Zero kicks ass. Tiffany: Just because I'd like to do a Rival Schools character. Hinata: Same as Tiffany.
Also @sabockee: I'd like to request your palette expertise, please. ^^

Definitly Cassandra! also voted for Iroha. 2 quiet girls who needs some love IMO...
No problem with toning down the CS. Particulary about Cassandra (a little too complex about details) You can get rid of 2,3 complicated CS parts....
Good luck on it.

So far, 138 of Lynn's sprites have been separated, and by my current calculations, 199 are left to separate. That's nearly half way! : O Guess this what happens when you stop being lazy sometimes huh? Now, this won't be included in this separation's first release, but I'm commissioning someone to do some custom animations for Lynn, to which I'll separate after finishing her official sprites. I still need an idea for a Midnight Bliss, if there's anyone one there who has an idea ^^' Also, I'm gonna close the poll in a few, since there's a chance that I won't be here when it closes tomorrow.

Didn't expect that many people to vote for Ryu ^^'...
Well, Leona and Ryu will get the treatment of colors and palettes and whatnot. Kinda wanted Cassandra to win, but I can wait to do her. I guess she'll be after Lynn. Hey @Felo_Llop: and any other fellow separators who's helping on the MFG Street Fighter project, which sprite groups do you want to separate?
Also @Just No Point: You're a Darkstalkers fan, correct. So, based off of your current knowledge of Lynn, and Demetri's Midnight Bliss super, what would be a good Midnight Bliss for her? I'm kinda thinking of her wearing a skimpy version of Billy's attire, but I'm not sure.

What's the separation template for Ryu going to look like?
Priority is eyes, hair, gloves. Anything else is bonus.
As for a Lynn MB.
Have her naked with a white dragon spiraling around her body covering her naughty bits. The head of the dragon makes a scared cartoonie face as she gets drained. Billy one would work too since she has a crush on him. Last could be she gets turned into a scroll that has her as a drawing in the nude covering herself. When he 1st grabs her and changes her the scroll would roll out open to reveal her. When he picks it up to drain her it would burn away from the bottom up.

For the separation, I was going to tamper with it a bit. Like only separating certain parts to add certain appearances, Like separating some of the forearm to make it look like fight tape. I'm gonna come up with a few concepts tomorrow. My main goal is to only use 6 colors, which can increase or decrease depending on the character in the future.
And thanks for the Midnight Bliss Ideas. They sound really creative. Too bad I'm on a spriting hiatus to learn how to draw, otherwise, I could've done them.
EDIT: I'm still up, so I may start one concept tonight.

Hmm....I like that first one, as long as it's handled right. Kinda reminds me of Aoba's Midnight Bliss in a way (what with how she has ribbons spiraling around her body and whatnot). The Billy one could also work. The scroll one sounds bizarre to me. Unique...but bizarre lol.

Okay, I've decided that like all the ideas, but the JNP's first suggestion and my idea are my favorites. JNP's because it's very canon, and mine because I want to see Lynn in a cute modern attire. :3
But since I'm not spriting for a while, I want to request or commission someone to do the one that will be easiest to work with. So, who wants to take the request? :3

We interrupt this fine and dandy time of Colors and Separations to bring you a look at the future:
Yes. This is happening. After Rock is finished, this fine female swordsman will be separated. She doesn't have as may sprites as other CvS characters, so it's shouldn't take no more than two months to finish, I think.
As for Lynn, I've started on her air normal and completed two. She now only has 166 sprites left to separate. After I finish those, I'm actually gonna start on MFG's Street Fighter Ryu before JNP fires me. lol
EDIT: Also, I've gotten a few requests to do some color separations. Now, I'm not trying to be greedy, but I'm thinking about starting to, rather than just do requests, do commissions instead. Other than the ones that I've already started, like Pupa for Jango and Rock for Divinewolf, the ones that I've haven't started but decided to do, I'm gonna ask for commissions instead. If that's okay. I think that a good price range will depend on the amount of sprites, the type of sprites, and how extensive the separation is going to be.
Title: Re: Sage's Color Separation WIPs (Outdated OP, Will update soon.)
Post by: SageHarpuiaJDJ on April 29, 2014, 04:33:29 pm
Now for commission pricing: Commissions will cost depending on the style of the sprite and the amount of sprites. CvS: $0.45 per sprite SNK: $0.55 per sprite CPS-2: $0.60 per sprite Other: Depends.
Sounds reasonable?

This means that any other WIPs that I had other than the ones in the op are cancelled until someone requests for it to be commissioned. I really hate to do that, but I can't do so many things at once, and RL stuff.

I'm speaking with him privately, but when he makes his decision, he'll be in charge of whether this goes pubilc or not. After Lynn, my main priority will be Rock, and Leona will done on the side.

Hopefully she'll be done by end of this week. I'm also creating a palette Template for Leona and starting her soon. Rock will be contiuned soon, when I actually get the inspiration to add atp's new palette into the sprites.

It is obviously. Characters that share the same colors completely (like SS with its completely white armour) can be a pain trying to separate all the parts in many of the sprites (especially in such a detailed separation for silver samurai.
Silver Samurai is the type of spriteset that required CS extension patches.

This may kinda sudden, but I want to have something else to do when I'm not CSing. So I'm gonna use this thread for my sprite wips as well.
From left to right: Base, CS, Restriction Area From top to bottom: Ayami, Yamagi
The crosshairs are marks for the range and location for the attacks. Green is for the arms, and yellow is for the legs. I'll start making animations soon.
Which one looks the most interesting out of the two in you guys' opinion?

Okay, I have a serious problem. I'm going to college, and after one serious fuck up, I don't have any financial aid to pay for any books. It really sucks because one grade messed me up, and I didn't even know that it would mess me the way it did.
So Now, I'm gonna open up commissions. I'll take at least two or three more. I really need help, so request your commission here. You don't have to pay all of the money upfront.
my paypal is jarelledjones@yahoo.com

I didn't know you finished Lynn completely already till I came to this page. Congrats, man! I had been looking forward to see the complete CS release of her. Thanks.
