Dumb as fuck Mary sue from the abomination known as SAO? ugh.
I don't see Kirito anywhere. Glop.
Also the sprite style looks a whole lot like UNI. I rike. In fact I feel like furapan are deving this and it should feel obvious but there is no written sign of it anywhere, so I'm just guessing.

Those lifebars are garbage they need a redesign immediately. You know the feeling when you look at a nice website and everything is just ruined by ads? That's what those portraits are doing for me. Also the fact that everything is so spaced out and taking up a lot of the screen for no reason...

just to confirm that the other two characters are assists.
going back to the properties list, there are three types of novels mainly, ongoing stuff that sells really well (sao), novels that don't sella and stuff that is already over even though it sold well (shana), to avoid searching for sales figures just knowing which ones got an anime adaptation is good enough to discard the ones who don't sell.
Accel world is ongoing and sells well, so it will get characters here, hataraku maou sama also sells well and has fighting, dunno if horizon also has fighting but is checks in the sells well criteria, oreimo is a really big seller so it will get a character even if it has no fighting, i don't see them using their limited(?) persona rights since persona already has it's own game, scryed is fucking old so i don't think it will make it, milky holmes might get one sicne it's fairly popular, index is definitely in and it is the one with potential for more characters, since it's universe lends itself greatly for a fighting game and it's dengeki's biggest seller.
the other properties are either too old even if action based or they are ongoing and popular but of non action genres (those are the left field ones). gonna see if as has a topic on this.

I know they said nothing about this, but if the next character announcement shows girls again, it may probably be an all-female fighting game (again, not counting the support characters).

I'll just say that's a heavily flawed statement considering (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120908102244/jjba/images/7/74/Fugo.png) all (http://wiki.mizuumi.net/images/7/79/Len0.png) we've (http://aquaplus.jp/th2v/images/wp/OVATH2_Konomi_1024_768.jpg) seen (http://canonsnk.sakura.ne.jp/canon/qoh/qoh_sozai/kanako2.GIF) so (http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/71604846/CV+1_20100404122539.jpg) far. (http://www.fightersgeneration.com/characters2/jin-saotome5.jpg)
Problem here is if you don't know if they can fight due to not knowing how they could fight. Assuming this early and without footage is kinda pointless. If anything, Kirino's pseudo-tsun tantrums could make for a good moveset. Or not. Who knows.

Not knowing how to fight is not the point I'm trying to make because then 3/4 of Melty Blood/Ougon/Jojo would be irrelevant. What I'm asking is the demographic they're going for really the kind to think FUCK YES I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE CHICK FROM MY LITTLE SISTER BEAT SOME ASS, a point Shwa is incapable of understanding as is the case with most of the points I attempt to make.

I wonder how many people had a similar impression when Melty Blood first came out.
But oh well, people always tell other people around here how graphics don't matter and gameplay is the most important thing. So the same people will be able to ignore the fact that the cast so far is pretty meh and give the game a try anyway!
I am more worried about actually knowing who the fuck Kirino and Asuna are though, considering that I don't even watch animes like that. Damn you internet!

He was quoting me about my comment. So let me answer it.
Yeah, I know there are several examples of that happening (Aquapazza is a good one), but it's just that I read the OreImo novels and it specially feels stronger for me that she doesn't fit at all. It's more of my personal opinion though. Not saying that it should apply to every single character that doesn't know how to fight in the source.

So why does everyone have Elizabeth's auto-meter gain? Yes, you can build meter at ridiculous lengths. A simple bnb nomorethan5-6 hit combo and you have a stock ready after waiting out. It also has Aquapazza's striker mechanic where you spend a meter to call out partners during combos. One striker has a full-screen keepaway that's unsafe.
Also spend meter during a combo to pull a special move that's safe on block.
Shana is the pick-and-play, has a stock where she can hasten meter gain and has strong zoning projectiles at fast velocity. Said stock appear to restore with every round from what I've seen.
Kuroyukihime plays as if she has a stand from JJBA that's always active (no I don't follow Accel World to know what that is, one day). Has counter/parry moves, and that's about it.
Kirino, fastest character in this roster. Like, very quick. Has air projectile, multi hitting special that's safe, stock ability is a grab with armor, can OTG Super after a throw. I admit, her gameplay was surprising due to her mobility.
Asuna and her eye-blinding sword lengths and overall gameplay is meh. I'm trying hard to at least keep up the flow but its boring and bland. Maybe another footage would do.
Mikoto looks like something that came out of Marvel game, even has Venom's C.MK at high lengths. Completely dominates the cast from what I'm seeing despite this being a look test and players being average. Full length moves that seems unpunishable, has air mobility, a full screen ground stomp, low-frame coin super, strong pressure, and so on.
Shizuo is this game's saving grace due to his moveset being crazy. Has a charging star but with a broken bus door, zoning pressure on one footage, and overall zany. He even has his trademark vending machine throw! Why can't the rest of the cast be this exciting? Also note that for some reason his portrait doesn't mirror when selected in P2.
The only good thing about this game are the beautiful rendered stages, and that's it.
Game has much left to do. As it is, looks meh.

I don't see the problem with the companies. Melty Blood is fun to play, and UN:IB looks awesome.
But yeah, I can see all the problems Kirishima mentioned (so much spam of supers and EX moves I saw in a fight). I wish I could see Shizuo gameplay, still haven't seen a Shizuo fight yet.

It's supposed to do that, you know? It will nullify any attack that collides with his hand. Useful only for defense, of course, but since it's cheaper than using a super, it can cause this scenario, that the opponent has wasted power for nothing.

Joining the support roster are Holo from Spice and Wolf, Boogiepop from Boogiepop Phantom, and Sadao Mao from The Devil Is a Part-Timer!.
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is due out in Japanese arcades in spring 2014, and on an unannounced home console at a later date.

SEGA themselves could region lock, but no one does that (except that one time).

Konami did for the MGR demo which was lulzy as hell for those who didn't import the ZoE HD Collection because they just made Konami shittons of money from that.
Fatlus did it for P4A but that was met with huge amounts of backlash and they probably won't do it ever again. At least I hope to god they don't because holy shit I felt terrible for Europe.
Title: Re: Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax
Post by: Nanashi_1337 on February 12, 2014, 05:31:51 pm
The problem that happened with the region lock was that the Europe version was delayed, and since you couldn't buy an American version because of the stupid region lock, it most likely affected the total sales in a bad way. Specially since, after so much time, there would be less people interested in buying it (and LOL, release date moved to next year with those delays). So yeah, I don't think anybody will attempt this stupid idea again. Hopefully.

BlazBlue has always been region free, maybe it's something they want (Or wanted) to keep exclusive to the P4U franchise.
Title: Re: Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax
Post by: Kasumi1030 on February 12, 2014, 09:53:20 pm
Arc System Works didn't do the region block. it was Atlus that wanted it. They did this to prevent Japanese consumers to import the U.S. version as the price difference was large. Game is $95 in japan and $60 in U.S. Atlus Japan would be losing money from people buying the import.
But they went bankrupt anyways...

Title: Re: Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax
Post by: Niitris on February 13, 2014, 12:30:38 am
It's an odd story with technicalities and stuff.
The company Atlus died (technically speaking) in 2010 when they merged with Index (since Index was the surviving company). Index then went on to use the Atlus name as a brand... basically, Index=Atlus.
Index/Atlus went bankrupt and was of course bought by Sega Sammy, who gave the company to SEGA.

Pai-Chan confirmed to be Akira's assist when the player challeges him.
214 A/B/C: Passes the ball. A is to Hinata. B is to Saki. C is to Maho. B and C have additional follow-up where the ball is tossed to Airi. While the ball is on the move, Tomoka can do others moves. Down the opponent from 2C, cancel to B pass and the ball goes to Saki (hit freezes), and then the frozen goal falls from the sky and Tomoka can already move then… Idea for the move came from Saki’s nickname “Ice Age.” Hinata does a dribble and follows with a reverse shot. Slow start-up. Causes bounce on hit. Very useful. Maho throws a ball which then explodes like fireworks. Based on her nickname “Fireworks.” When you do the follow-up after Saki or Maho, balls falls off the goal and Airi picks it up. She the slams rebounded ball back to the goal. Rainbow effect is shown after successfully hitting with it. Comes from her nickname “Prismatic Bud.” EX version is where the opponent is turned into a ball and Maho throws them back to Tomoka. You can follow-up it to air combo. Very convenient move, good to restrain the opponent and as a combo part. 236 A/B/C: “One-hand Shoot Jump” Tomoka’s classic jump shoot where she throws a projectile. Ball has a big hitbox and stays active for long, but the move has slow start-up. Tomoka also has moves based on Japanese dance and tea ceremonies (which are Tomoka’s specialties) Crouch Impact Skill is called “Japanese Dance Repertoire: Anti-air” and in it Tomoka moves forward while spinning both her arms. Attacks with umbrella on her j.C Normal Impact Skill: “Steal” is also very powerful. Dribbles towards the opponent, turns them into ball and starts to dribble where she’s standing. Does a ground pass after a bit of waiting, but if you press the button Tomoka takes a stand and jumps. Press the button when she is on top height. If the timing is right, Tomoka gets wings on her back and more damage is dealt. If you miss the timing, you can go for the same Airi follow-up.
Climax Arts: “RO-KYU-BU!” rushes towards the opponent, rest of the move trigger only on hit. Everyone does their move and finally text Ro-kyu-bu appears on the screen as everyone is posing. Based on the poses from the seiyuu’s choreograph when singing the opening theme.
Her other Climax Arts is “Shiny Gift” rushes to the opponent, dribbles with them as a ball then shoots them to goal. Combo this from her normal Impact Skill.
Kirito's moveset said:
Horizontal Square (236 A/B/C): Very quick slash with his sword Follow-up “Meteor Break”: Appear behind the opponen either ground or air, and slashes the opponent. Spinning Shield (214 A/B/C): Spins his swords and destroys projectiles. Cyclone Strike (j. 236 A/B/C): Falls down from the sky while slashing the opponent. His neutral game very similar to the Asuna. He’s simple character who rushes towards the opponent swings a sword.
Climax Arts are a ranbu-move ”Starburst Stream” and ”The Eclipse,” where he shoots huge shockwaves multiple times. Both of those are very simple to use, so you can aggressively spend his meter.
Transforms to much more technical character when you activate his Trump Card, “Dual Wielding” During this mode, you can combo his specials like Horizontal> Spinning>Cyclone “Dual Wielding” is one of the Trump Cards with longer duration, so you can deal huge damage during it. You can also make combos where you activate Trump Card during the combo. You can build quite long combos like “Normal>Special>Trump Card>New Combo>Support”
Several support characters now have additional moves instead of the usual one, similar to Aquapazza's assists.
Quote
Support System
Now two moves per support character (Neutral and Forward) Both moves have different recovery times, so think carefully which to use… Touma now has Imagine Breaker and another move where jumps to the opponent and punches them to stomach.
Hinata Hakamada
Counter-type move where shining aura appears around her. On hit, it nullifies the opponents move and then forces them to guard. Flies in arc-shaped trajectory wrapped in shining aura, forces the opponent to guard on hit.
Kaga Kouko
Shoots a heart which reduces the opponents Climax gauge on hit. Walks towards the opponent and then slams them with bouquet. Opponent flies upwards from the hit, so you can continue the combo.
Kino
Shoots horizontally. Fast start-up, bullet moves fast, fast recovery. Low damage. Charges a little and then shoots diagonally. Slow start-up and causes bounce on hit.
Mashiro Shiina
She rolls Baum-kuchens over the screen. Big and small ones with different hitboxes. Causes really long block-stun. Summons multiple cats to run across the screen. Each has its own hitbox. Both have slow start-up and are used to gain block stun.
Erio Touwa
Wrapped in futon, she runs and then jumps to slide across the screen. Wrapped in futon, she swing around the stage and nullifies all the opponent attacks she makes contact with.

sao sells a lot, it's tied up there with raildex novel wise, I think the only reason raildex did not get 2 characters along with sao is that sao's anime sells much more than raildex. actually sao's numbers might be considered better than raildex , hile raildex has sold more that sao, sao sells mor volume wise.

I'm glad they will make a PSVita version of this game. Not sure if I will buy it or not, depending on the success it has in Japan maybe they may bring it outside, and in that case I would rather grab an English version than a Japanese version (not expecting english voices, but I would rather prefer english text honestly).
And still no more info about those new characters announced before?

Yes, it good to hear that will be Ps vita port, I was afraid that they will do the same as with UNIB and released only for PS3.

But that was the PSP. The PSP had a terrible dpad in general unless you opened it up and stick in a piece of paper in each conductor or used Capcom or Namco's own dpad fixes, that came bundled with SFA3 Max and T5DR respectively.
The Vita doesn't have that problem. Rather, the biggest problem it has is... well, the buttons are smaller.
Spoiler: My favorite part about all this(click to see content)
However, owners of the Vita TV/PlayStation TV don't even have to deal with that since they can just play with their pad or stick.
It's quite likely that DFC will support the Vita TV so it's a nice alternative for those wanting to play on a smaller, lighter and cheaper console at the cost of same-machine multiplayer. (with the exception of PSone classics, unless they make innate local support for the VitaTV, which would be stuff of miracles)

Also the D-pad is way too close to the analog stock that you often tilt it with your thumb accidentally when trying to press down on the pad; playing as MK9 Kung Lao becomes a nightmare.

I never had that problem with analog but I heard it's a common problem for folks big meaty clawshands or holding it pure pad style.

Costumes look amazing, Bonus Challenge Tower with mini-games is fun, and online is still active even though there was suppose to be a rapture at the end of May, that made me get the game ASAP and snatched all trophies in the first week. And I believe it's cheap at the moment.
Side note, yay for Vita Port!

3 variants: 1) Will be limited edition with game 2) Will release CD after game 3) Never
While 1 and 2 are more than likely to happen, Phantasy Star Online 2 has just recently been updated, adding clean versions both the main theme (with vocals) and the PSO2 stage theme as Jukebox music discs. I took the occasion to upload the main theme on YT, PSO2 stage theme will soon follow.
EDIT: PSO2 Stage theme

I had a feeling that Akira will be one of the last playable character in Arcade version. Rather seeing him as a mid-boss in updated version & needs 1 more guest from other company to make it similar in UNIEL/Under Night. How bout Tecmo Koei? Since TK & Sega collab for DOA5 game. Hayabusa (assist: Momiji) always being a best choice, & i think WO's titular antagonist (Orochi (with his assist, Kyubi no Kitsune) would fit as a better final boss in place of Akira's. Look at him (Orochi), his god-like powers, scythe attacks makes him being a "SNK Boss" type like Hilda in UNIEL

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax will launch for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in Japan on November 13, Sega announced.
The console versions will have a large number of original modes not featured in the arcade version, including a new “Dream Duel” mode where players can enjoy conversation events between characters, an online battle “Network” mode, etc. By using points earned playing the game, you’ll be able to unlock special content and color customizations, as well.

Easy way to put them. Not as much effort as creating a full character. And the more they create, the bigger the audience they can aim, as some would probably buy this game just for one character.
Also, I am disappointed that Dokuro-chan isn't a full character. God, that's one character I wanted to play as.

Got this game last night. I love how Shana and Rentaro's Trump Cards are essentially free animation cancels. While Shana's makes your super gauge go up faster, Rentaro's makes his overall speed faster.
Managed to find some synergy with him and Kojyo, since the latter's 6S can hit almost anywhere if you manage to get a 5B 5C,C going, even during a juggle depending on how high the enemy is.
Plus, while you're in TC's buff time, you can do reverse beats. However, while you can't do 5A 5B 5A 5B, you can do 5A 5B 5A,A (autocombo) for the desired effect and then follow up with anything. For Rentaro who's just faster in general, dashing right after 214A TC and then doing that feels like some simpler 02 MAX mode shit. I love it. Plus, support cancels don't cost any meter during TC.
This game is like Aquapazza on crack and it's great.
EDIT: But for some reason, there's no way to have private lobbies online. It's kinda offputting and really the only major flaw I can find with this game. Pretty sad.

Let see, from mid to corner A>cA>cB>cC>C>B xx jf.jB>jC xx jf.jB>jC xx air qcfEX xx air Burst.ground.A+B/charged C/qcfA/qcfA/qcbB/qcbB/qcbC/charged version of qcbC xx qcfEX xx hcf/hcbAB
bit different than in VF5 & DOA5. 8O oh speaking of DOA, like i said before, some moves like his Extend Action/Maho Shouko Lv. 2 (called Zessho Daiten Hosui in Ultimate) & Tenzanko are borrowed from DOA.
If updated version announced some years later, TK should join in because of the moves Akira has from DOA

The game is pretty awful but they, it's something to keep me entertained for a couple of weeks before Xrd so whatever. AB attacks are pretty stupid.
Edit: Akira's AB attacks aren't that good though, Tetsuzanko is kinda broken. I think the combo you posted requires TC mode, LarsAlexandersson. I've been using dash 6B, 2[C], 214A, 5A, 5B, jA. jB, djB, jC, 236C [Dokuro Assist], 5AB, 236AB, 41236BC, that doesn't require TC mode. And yeah you can replace the Dokuro assist for Burst, timing the follow ups is a bot more difficult but if you need meter to finish the combo that's an option I guess.

Sure there's some people that already know about it, but DFC got a patch on the 25th. Here's the patch notes.
Quote
Version 1.02 Changes
Game Balance changes: - Set a restriction for the support gauge recovery in combos for the support character 'Alicia Melchiott' . Revised to be the same as arcade's 1.30 version (Still can combo multiple times in the same combo though) - Revision in combo damage and difficulty off airdashes. Revised to be the same as arcade's 1.30 version ※Using replay data from previous versions of the game may change what happens.
Rank match functionality additions:
- Rank match support character select now memorizes the last support you choose. (To avoid picking the wrong assist on accident)
Player match Functionality Additions - Added the ability to invite friends to player rooms. - Added an option to set a "Room Icon" and a "Room Comment" - Added a chat room, that comes with chat macros for simplicity - Added a sound effect when someone enters a player room. - Character select now memorizes the last character you choose. (To avoid picking the wrong character on accident)
I don't give credit where credit is due. (http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8510-dengeki-bunko-fighting-climax-gameplay-discussion-thread/page-35#entry878165)
Well at least you can invite people to rooms now which should have been there to begin with.
