Title: We want YOU to join the community project.
Post by: Just No Point on April 02, 2014, 03:42:03 pm
This thread is to post if you wish to be a more active member of the project. How do you wish to contribute? Color Separation specialists, graphics, sprite edits, original sprites, stages, screenpack/motifs, ripping, artmoney data, CLSN data, SFFv2, AIR, CNS, SND, music, voice actor, sound or music creator, meta game understanding, bug tester, organization skills, anything else I may have missed.

You do not have to post here to be involved. As we post things you may contribute with whatever you like. Everything will go through the core group and/or community wide voting before it's implemented into the official product.

Posting in this thread puts you on call to take on certain assignments that fall in the areas you list as talents.

My main contributions will be organization skills, SFF, AIR, ripping, artmoney, CLSN and I have very basic coding skills. I've coded several basics and throws. As one of the main hosts I need to get better at coding to help realize the goals here. (Currently putting together some MS paint characters for Iced to practice coding)

List:
JustNoPoint: organization, .sff, .air, ripping, ArtMoney, CLSN, some coding skills;
DivineWolf: testing;
SageHarpuiaJDJ: colour separation;
Omega: remixing soundtracks; music
ink: sprites, graphics;
Umezono: beta tester;
Buckus: testing, coding (if necessary), CSing, and sprite edits;

Alex S.: sprites and codes;
LunaticEX: beta tester, spriter?
FirstLieutenantDing: beta tester, palettes? Who knows...

Im in, I can help with Basic Stuff. Or once you guys
make a template char i can help create air files and
cns.  I just need a template so i can help get other
chars ready once i know how its going to be organized.

Post by: Just No Point on April 02, 2014, 06:38:36 pm
Yep, the template will be the biggest deciding factor in the outcome of this project. After it's finished the whole thing can really take off!

Loving that so many are interested in this! Really gives hope this can work. And we can see who was all talk come time to do their jobs =p

let my mind control the characters,I'm full of my ideas,so I can suggest moves and stuff...
I'm not really good with testing,but I can code well as usual...
so I'm for both...

I can help with music, I don't have much but I have an electric guitar and multi-effects pedal, I can make riffs, melodies and stuff so Omega or Wizzy (If he's in) can work on them.
It's not much but it's something, I don't think my coding skills are good enough for this, so, I just want in somehow.

To be honest, I can pretty much help with everything I can, I'm can sprite but sometimes I can't, I suck at codings but I'll try to be my best at it. I can help with the sounds and many things, Also I can be a Beta Tester. I wish I can help upon anything that's needed and I'll try my best at it.

Colour me interested as a beta tester or whatever. I can't code or sprite, but the least I can do is tell people when they messed up on something or find infinites.

Please, apply ONLY if you have experience in beta testing or know to code or etc. I know it would sound tasty having those betas before anyone but...avoid it.

Only if you have experience as beta testing or know about coding :/

anyone can sign up. This is to help users gain experience in these areas too. I don't see a lot of private betas in this project anyway. But if you volunteer to be a tester I will PM you when things need testing and I'll expect some sort of feedback. That was my intent when making this thread. Having users on call for any of these things. :)

This defeats the entire point of an open community project

That sounds like a good idea man. We can also refresh excisting themes for this game like they did with the Street Fighter HD Remix game but, much better.

I dunno if this counts but I feel that since this is a mugen community why not wanna play this with friends? So I could like test and see how the characters react to IKEMEN and stuff since I feel that would give this full game more life.

Throwing my name in the hat for general graphic miscellany. An animation here or there, random sprite touch up, screenpack-y bits. Basically, backseat for now until something screams out to me. My plate is almost too full at the moment for any major involvement, but I can't stay away from SF stuff.

Same here. I kinda thought this was for something like a list showing off what some people here can do and anyone who needs help in a particular field for a fullgame can contact them, but it is kinda my fault for not reading. Sorry.

In fact it is. Are you thinking that because we called you on the other topic it isn't like that anymore? It was just for gathering attention and activity; you're not forced to work on anything, but if we don't try calling other users this project won't get as much activity.

Now that most of the sff and air are finished in the Ryu template are there any users that would mind doing sff and air work? I seem to be the only one doing sff. Someone could start working on the sff for any of the other 3 characters while I focus on coding Ryu

@Loona: have you seen any of this? Are you retired now?

@Loona: have you seen any of this? Are you retired now?

I've only just seen this, thanks for remembering me - I have a bit of reading to do about the project before committing to anything.
Also, I'm far more of an SNK guy and this appears to be a mostly SF project, so Dan or guest characters are bound to be more appealing.
I guess I could give a hand with general testing and coding - SFFv2 appears to have a lot of interesting features, but I'm yet to read about how to get them to work, not to mention testing them a bit, so it's trickier to commit to related tasks at this point.

Hey, I was just wondering who you were planning to have code guile? since every character is going to be based on Ryu it would be a long ways off but I would really enjoy helping with him and/or Bison. (But mostly Guile)

I can also help with sprites, but I can't freehand very well.

At the very least I would like to help Test.
Title: Re: We want YOU to join the community project.
Post by: Just No Point on April 15, 2014, 03:12:31 am
@Loona: You don't have to do a whole lot different while making a sff with sffv2

Just that you can now have a palette for the character, a unique pal for each effect, etc They do not have to share the 256 color limitation with each other.

I know you're more into KOF but I remembered you being interested in helping clean SF sprites from CVS2 so I was reaching because I'm desperate for more sff creators XD

If you decide you're not interested that's cool. No obligations. If you know someone that might be interested please send them this way!

Whiplash: I have no idea who'll be coding Guile and/or Bison :P
I don't even know when they'll be on the table! But as soon as they are I'll call you here. And I'll be calling you for sprite work and testing too! Thanks for your interest!

Sure thing. My only beef is the SFF, I hate those things, while I'm more then willing to do the AIR file, CNS, CMD and whatever else, the SFF is like torture to me.

When you get the template character done and work out all the kinks I guess would be the best time to contact me about Guile, (or before, IDK, I'm just glad I finally bothered learning how to code so I can make my own stuff, there are quite a few characters I want to make, but that's going to happen over the summer.) anyway, yeah, though I am a halfway decent frankenspriter and I can do some basic work, I'm no where near as talented as Felo, so please don't be expecting something like that. I can do minor things though. I really hope this project goes somewhere. One day, if all goes well and we put Cody, Necro, Guile, Makoto, Akuma, Gouken, Bison, Urien, Alex, Vega, Karin and Ken I'll never have reason to play any other street fighter with my friends ever again. :p That's years off though.
Title: Re: We want YOU to join the community project.
Post by: Just No Point on April 15, 2014, 03:49:20 am
I hope it gets that far too. I'd love it if no one ever had to make a Street Fighter sff again by making a bunch of solid characters with universal sff organization. Just building onto the already existing sff and air files.

There process of making that distiction when compiling an SFF is what I'd have to learn first.

It used to be just a matter of feeding sprmaker.exe a text file assigning each PCX image coordinates and group numbers - now there's something else.

I guess that's where Fighter Factory can help, but I never used it.
I read this project is using FF3, but last I checked the program's site it mentioned Fighter Factory Ultimate - is there any significant dufference I should be aware of?

I recall helpingto clean Ryuhyaku Todoh sprites ages ago on a version of Windows thar ran PSP3, which no longer applies a I wonder what's free and simple to get to grips with for the task nowadays.

I'm preparing to change countries, so in the immediate future I don't think dabbling in Mugen is a likely option, but I'll keep an eye on this for now.

I can also provide some ideas and eventual testing

Dhalsim stage... now there's a character I could get interested in, especially if the "far" normals are the default, and considering the Marvel Vs stuff that's not in the actual SF games, yet could still be used...

If you don't have FF3 download it here (when you can): http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/fighter-factory-3-0-final-release-preview-v2-137126.0.html

I find it odd that they didn't upload this new and better version of FF in their site.

Nice, thanks - seems pretty complete, with image editing included in the package.
I'm just not finding any reference to SFFv2 specifics though - I've noticed a window to mess around with palettes, so perhaps that is the key, but this may require further reading to fully grasp.

I do wish there was a way to signal if a sprite in the SFF is already used by the .AIR file - I have this SFF that I compiled ages ago and could be a nice way to practice using the tool, but this one handy feature isn't automated, and the code for animations can only be seen for individual animations, not for the whole file, where searching for an SFF sprite ID would be useful.
Title: Re: We want YOU to join the community project.
Post by: Just No Point on April 17, 2014, 08:12:59 pm
You can view the entire air file in text by going to Animation at the top and clicking "text mode". And yeah, it's really just the palette making you have to learn for sffv2. The rest is used in coding.

XG: That's great to hear! I've always been scared to death of trying to rip stage animations though :P Guess I'll have to overcome that fear pretty soon!

All attention is on Ryu. I'm caught in my work weekend working 12 hours so I won't be doing much except in evenings. Anyone that wants to help code Ryu's basics can download him and assist me. Just upload what you do. When the basics are finished I'll post the cns in the forum asking for feedback to make sure no one screwed anything up and to help with documentation.

Remember I'm not an avid coder so I'll be slower right now till I learn all the triggers and nuances.

Going to try to get the animation timings, pause times, hit vels, velocities from jumps, walking, etc

I'll start trying to do this tomorrow a bit and report to you what I'll still need to find. Do you want me to upload JZ's artmoney table here for you? It's the most complete table for the game so far.

Create a specific thread for ArtMoney tables, so the most up to date ones are uploaded there, and whoever wants to collaborate could post their findings or specific addresses in a collaborative way.

Done. (http://www.justnopoint.com/Tables/) I had some stuff come up today so I won't be able to do any data mining.
Sat, Sun, and Monday I work and am stuck on a laptop when I get to my mom's in the evening. So I won't be able to do any till Tuesday.

If you could start gathering any and all information for Ryu from CVS2 that'd be great!

I always had the best luck with Chankast years back. I can't get it to run my .cdi files now though (and it's the same ones I used back then, same Chankast and everything). So I have to use NullDC now. I haven't run it a whole lot. I know it seems to have more graphical errors while I play it than Chankast did. But for just data mining that shouldn't be an issue. So either of those should work well. I have not actually used artmoney on NullDC though. But I seem to have an artmoney table called CVS2nulldc. I must have gotten it from Vans or someone like that. It's not uploaded since the one labeled PSX2 has the most. That's JZ's table.

If you can run PSX2 well you could try that one I guess. But all of them should work fairly well together I'd presume. PSx2 is stable just generally slow as crap. Though that might be useful without having step frame in any emulator.

I can help with code sometimes. Id prefer to wait till you have your base ready though. I can grind out characters fairly quickly if I have time

Perhaps if I have time, I'm still learning how to code the hard way, but I might be able to sprite... almost. I'm gonna see if I can make a Axe Kick just for Ryu.

@XGargoyle: @Renzo F: XG, can you run CVS2 on PCSX2? Even if slow you can use F12 to record using it's built in recorder. Stop recording with F12 as well.

Renzo, can you run the PS2 version?

I would like either of you to assist me in getting the Block and air hit properties if you could.

Hitpauses, slide times, hittimes, velocities

To get the velocities I've been overlaying the videos from the source over Mugen Ryu and comparing. Match both Ryus in the same position as your recording. Then attack and tweak till you match how far away the 2nd player Ryu goes in source.

You can use a program called ghostwin to make your video capture window have transparency.

I can't run the game correctly. Even if recording through the F12 built-in recorder, it's still missing frames.

Can't do anything good with this kind of material:

Sorry, but can't help on that part.

Haha! Let's use the data from that!!!

Well shucks, guess it's still up to me. As we progress I hope we can find more users that can aid in this area.

Is anyone willing to work on .snd files?

I see we don't have any .snd file guys on board either.

I can help with palettes and maybe some artwork related stuff if I'm still around when this takes off a bit more.

Kinda like how I redrew and coloured some of Sean's artwork for his CvtW stuff like below.

That looks cool man. I am interested to see the style of Artwork they'll use at the end as they are currently trying out the styles they want to use for the game.

Hi. I'm just dropping by to explain my inactivity. School really drains my energy to do anything else right now. My main focus it that. I think that I can squeeze some time in to help with this project after tests or when I'm out, but other than that, I'm gonna be seriously inactive for the rest of this month and prolly next month. I actually have a lot of free time after I'm done with classes, but I want to use that to study. And I also have a commission that I need to complete before the end of September, which is the due date that I set for myself to finish it.

So sorry for coming in and not doing anything. Hope you guys understand.

For some reason I didn't see this post! I'd love it if you joined with that talent!

Work whenever you get free time man. This is a hobby. Real life comes 1st. Any contributions you can give will always be greatly appreciated.

Well if you still are accepting people I could test things and maybe do some voice acting (I'm still a beginner at voice acting so please don't expect much)

In the first place, a full game is going to take time anyway. JNP has been blazing through this Ryu and some brainstorming, but the bulk of the work to really call it a full game is going to be doing the same to several characters and everything, so as long as it's still moving on, slow isn't an issue.
