Title: Announcer voice
Post by: Alex Sinigaglia on April 24, 2014, 11:43:52 am
I thought about this for a while and there could be a voice actor (like Shockdingo) to use his talent in this.
And some experts can alter the voice to make it cooler!

Some lines:

- Welcome to/Enter the new age of Street Fighting!
- Many fighters are gathered here to accomplish one goal!

Battle:
- Start the brawl!
- Fight for the future! (from SF3)
- May the best win!

This is a great idea! I also have a friend that's in radio that could do it. He has that great radio voice and loves SF. I think this could also be a fun way to give shout outs to users in the community, memorable quotes from MFG, etc. And the phrases from the SF series could be randomized so there is a good mix from all series.

Though it may be best to keep it as "You win" "You lose" instead of "Name wins" I guess we could do names too but if the voice actor ever dropped out then we couldn't have them say the names of future characters.

Nice to know, tell him about this. :) Maybe he accepts this.
I only know of ShockDingo as good voice actor (I loved what he did with Firequacker); who can we call?

Though it may be best to keep it as "You win" "You lose" instead of "Name wins"
Or "player 1/2 wins" for versus (player vs player) or watch (AI vs AI), where you can't tell who "you" is. At least it's possible to tell if the winner is on the left or right side.

lol that's a cool idea, but like what memorable MFG quotes? "Make better u gay"? :P

Fuck Orochi Gill obviously

I don't know. A lot of Rajaa's "Boss persona" quotes might work =p

Right "Player 1/2 wins" would be better.

That'd make for an incredible "time over" voice.

Sorry for bumping the thread, I tried pulling off some awesome announcer voice but all I could come up with was this:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/ya9sikcokigs0fi/announcing.mp3

My voice sucks, sorry >.<

Edit: I just noticed I totally got the quote wrong. But no problem anyways, if you guys liked it I'd make the right one. For now this is just a sample anyways.

It's not your voice, in my opinion; it's more that you are not used to speak English (and don't worry, I have that problem too); if it's not that, then I'm stupid and I apologize in advance.
And there should be more... emotion, I think.
I would like the input of the others: @Just No Point: @Felo_Llop: @Balthazar:

And don't apologize for bumping the thread. :)
You are the first submitter. Thanks.

You need to put a lot more excitement into it. Listen to the announcers for SF2, SFA3, and CVS2.

Okay, I tried it out but in my opinion it still sucks. I guess I'll be needing tons of autotune.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/mwpa2p8d85p5z2o/TheNewAge.mp3

My voice is deep by nature so I can't really pull off a "happy voice"

I hope you understand, and if it's still not good enough then oh well I tried :)

I don't want to sound nitpicky (but I probably will), can you make the last part ("of street fighting") a bit faster?

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I've done a bit of voice acting for various people here, and this sounds super fun!

I threw together a short demo reel right quick, tried to with my goal being to imitate an American voice as close as possible. Enjoy!

Well, I never really did any kind of voice acting, I just did some song covers and this is my first time with voice acting so it's expected that I suck :(

But then, I'll do my best from now on.

+1 to you, you got talent! :)
Title: Re: Announcer voice

Actually, not only can we have more than 1 as options. But the idea has branched out a bit more to include sub games like just a SF1 game and such. In which case we can use different announces for each sub game as well.

I find your voice perfect for this Gritsmaster! You did a great job!

Amy, each one you have posted has improved as well. I think you're getting closer.

Perhaps we should try some default audition dialogue.

With each one see if you can find 4 ways to say the words.

"MUGEN (Moo gen) Fighter's Guild presents: STREET FIGHTER!"

"Round One: FIGHT!"

"Ryu wins! Perfect!"

"You can't give it up, man! Triumph or die!"

"Go for Broke!"

Aside from the audition dialogue we should go ahead and start compiling all the phrases we'd want in the game.

Obviously everything that's been in the series so far.

Hah, oops. Alex had default audition text in the 1st post. Well, yeah, I'd try the ones he posted in different voices, speeds, pitch, etc

Hmmm, I really think you are almost there with this. Try to turn the echo down a bit and say the same things slightly quicker. And/or with more emphasis. When "Street Fighter" is said it should really pop.

I updated the 1st post with a list of all the announcer quotes from SF. Should we try to have them all? Or should we just select a few and add our own?

@Amy: It occurred to me today that you kinda sound like the announcer for kof 13. You could listen to that announcer for inspiration!

This sounds a lot better Amy! The "Character Select" and "Go For Broke" clips sound especially good. Just don't go crazy with effects and remember to enunciate every syllable clearly!

JNP Are there any lines you would like recorded now, or would you rather wait until all the dialogue options have been sorted out?

I'll try to get a confirmed list of everything that needs to be said this week. @Felo_Llop: @Balthazar: @Alex Sinigaglia: @HQ: You guys have any recommendations yourselves?

Everyone can contribute. But if no one speaks up soon I'll make the list up myself :}
Title: Re: Announcer voice
Post by: Alex Sinigaglia on June 23, 2014, 07:14:52 pm
Will my ideas
make it in the list?
:thinking2:

On a serious note, I don't want those that were already used in previous games. Well, a few of them is ok for me.
But we should strive for original things. I know there aren't lots of things to say.

It's better if you make the list, I don't have many ideas for now.

But this is one I thought just now:
---
These voices are also going to be used during the match, right?

Let's see:
- before the intro of the characters play, there could be a pause code: in that moment the announcer could say the name (and the hour) of the stage:
eg.: Suzaku Castle 11:00 a.m.

and the same for the other stages.
---

Title: Re: Announcer voice

I think it could be coded in the characters, yes.
Title: Re: Announcer voice
Post by: Just No Point on June 28, 2014, 05:03:30 am
The only problem with that is that we would need to know most/all the names and tmes of the stages before recording them. Keep in mind with the length of the project we want to make it so that later on we won't need more voice acting. The voice actors could be long gone by that point.

At best we could have them announce every location SF characters hail from and maybe a few more areas to be safe. So the announcer could tell the location.

I want to apologize. I totally forgot about needing to do this this week. I'll try to work on it after work the next 3 days.

In the meantime give a list of all countries needing to be voiced. And names of every character that could show up in the game from the SF series.

Can you include the intended stage locations as well? Like "Japan: Suzaku Castle" or "Brazil: Amazon Village". Or at least references of each stage so I can wing it.  You say "UK", it could be anything, but say "Dudley's 3S stage" and I know it's London Street.
Title: Re: Announcer voice
Post by: Just No Point on June 29, 2014, 12:01:06 am
I can but the only problem is that we don't know where every stage is taking place at yet. Wouldn't we need a list of like every former SF location ever just to be on the safe side? And if something was unique we wouldn't be able to have the name of the stage (if the announcer is no longer available).

Does that make sense?

Ah, really good idea with the other doll names! Those would all be fairly simple new character additions at later points.

Added eveything you just said. Luckily everyone is saying they'll try to do this tomorrow so it shouldn't mess anything up by simply adding them to the list at this point.

In the recording booth right now.  Add "Killer Bee" to characters and "Greece" and "Scotland" to countries.

Recording done, but my dumb ass forgot to bring headphones. Going to post-process some tonight to see how it's turned out, and I've got the next three days free to jump back into a booth.

Everything recorded on my end, ready for release. There are a couple lines I might go over and update, but if you hear anything that sounds off be sure to point it out. Here's a preview:
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/d23d5bi82hc36j8/Preview+-+Custom+Announcer+Soundpack.mp3 (http://www.mediafire.com/listen/d23d5bi82hc36j8/Preview+-+Custom+Announcer+Soundpack.mp3)

All of the audio has been cleaned and I've done some sonic EQ'ing, the only thing I would do is some light compression work and additional mixing (I've left that to you so that you can play with the audio levels/effects to your liking.) All the audio has been cut, separated and labeled (MP3 format, can convert if you need it)  Would love critique if you can, this is only my 2nd time attempting an American accent (the first for DivineWolf on this forum o_O), and I'm a bit shaky.

Once I get time I'd like to go in and do an additional voice, I enjoyed this way too much.

Hope you like, cheers!

I added the new voice work to the list. GREECE, SCOTLAND, and KILLER BEE Also added one more round start phrase Roundstate equals two, NOW!

You both did GREAT! I love them! And SNT, I really like the idea of all the bonus lines you said! So if anyone wants to just make shit up themselves go for it. I'll try to use it somehow. I don't think there is any way for MUGEN to know which snd file is being used for the announcer since I can't have it check the name of the .snd file. Right?

So I'll have to come up with a config option to be used in conjunction with certain announcers.
So if you used SNT's announcer voice you'd choose that option in the mechanics config file that applies to all characters, and so on.

I'm glad you guys are having fun with this!

Wow, great work here... for my project, at this point the name risk to change, but it would help me  if you add some names like:
-Capcom
-Versus
-SNK
-Namco
-The World

The King of Fighter
The Best Street Fighter
The Champion of Tekken Tournament
The true Challenger

and if possible:
-A rival ! This match will be exciting !
-This is a boss ! What will happen to our champion ?
-The ultimate Fighter ! The true ruler is here !!!

Thanks in adavance  :D

I'll let SNT jump on that if he wants for the time being, I'm unavailable until the 11th. Afterwards, I'd love to go in and some quick work for you (or any others).

I'm getting ready for work so I won't be able to update the main list till I get off.

The priority stuff for the game is finished. I'm saying that only so that we don't keep on and keep on added to the list add infinity.

On that note I'm going to add a new section for OPTIONAL vocal additions.

This is where I'll put your requests Teddylam. That way if an announcer wishes to come back later and fulfill the special requests they can do so.

This thing could get out of hand really fast if we don't make a cut off point :)

Im out ofthe loop. So we're doing multiple games now? Multiple announcers? Why not do it mvc3 style. Have both at the same time? One covers main commentary(combos, meter, win / lose / down), etc while the other provides more fan type commentary. "Can they make a comeback?" "First hit, what's next?" "Neither fighter appears to be doing anything!" Etc
Title: Re: Announcer voice

Iced suggested the 2 announcers yesterday as well. It would be a fun future option!

The other games being made are not for real full games (with large differences).
They will just be quick remakes of the SF games. IE SF1, SF2 , etc just by tweaking the default settings on the mechanics config.
