Title: "Introductions and Guides" subforum
Post by: XGargoyle on June 08, 2014, 11:13:29 am
Well, the title and description are misleading. There are no guides at all and the place is basically a "Hello World" introduction for a new member. Title and description of the subforum should be adjusted, otherwise you have guys posting questions on that part.

These (http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/some-advice-for-newbies-152415.0.html) three (http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/mugen-guild-starter-pack-attack-regulation-a-a-prepacked-mugen-starter-kit-152919.0.html) stickies (http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/faq-mugen-related-questions-updated-7312012-143452.0.html) say otherwise on first glance.

But at the same time, many help threads (at least to my knowledge) have been moved from there to Configuration/Development Help. :thinking2:

Just change the name as "Introductions" should be enough, IMO

it has guides specific to new users. changing the name really is a non-issue

I'm pretty much of the same mindset as Titiln on this but had been watching the feedback. I'm not of a strong opinion myself so if enough felt the few guides were not enough for guides to be in the name I'd change it.

Whether the guides that are actually there are enough to warrant calling this a guide section, I think it's important for newcomers who wouldn't know to check the help and configuration sections (and then wouldn't know what to read in there since it may be a lot more specific and less n00b-friendly). An introduction section would be the first thing they see, and it's important that they know they can also find the minimum of information they need to just get started. The guides don't have to be deep and detailed, they just need to be the FAQ for complete n00bs, it's okay if they're very short and few.

There are guides in the section - they are just really old and nobody's bothered to move them to a section where they'd be easier to find.
I addressed the issue and even put together a list a few years ago, but none of them has been moved since: http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/introduction-and-guides-section-is-bit-mess-106916.0.html
