Hey there, people.

With Enlightend Shadow's CvS3 SP progressing steadily, I decided to work on CvS Kyo sprites with his XI attire! Yay!
All positive feedback and critique is appreciated!

I never noticed that. I DO know it jumped from XI to XIII to signify how they did so much work that they decided they did enough work for two games to make one awesome game that is XIII.

Good luck with the sheet. There's some things that, however, could be improved:

- Sleeves/Jacket: the outlines you're making are VERY dark. Try playing with light and etc. If a part is filled with the lightest jacket colour, use the second(and ONE pixel of the third) for the outline. NEVER the darkest tone.
- That crotch seems a penis in a lycra pant. Use CvSTerry, T.Hawk or some other characters who use jeans for spriting that part. Don't be affraid at using references.

Aside this, those are very beautiful sprites. Good luck :D !!

The belt should be lowered

I'ts better now but you should tweak the belt,jacket and pants.(to be more specific the jacket need some more white lines,the belt dosen't look good and the pants still don't look like jeans) 
Maybe change the Hair

Leave the hair as it is, it's not like it's inaccurate to what Kyo's hair is supposed to be anyway.

The hairstyle seems to be the same to me. The only difference I can see between the two animations are the different hair color and the slightly different angle.

If anything, I recommend to be consistent with the CvS sprite design while still making his outfit as close as possible to the 2003/XI outfit.

The hair do actually seem a bit longer without the headband, however it's stupid since CvS sprites didn't actually make Kyo's hair as short as they originally were, so whatever difference you may see is already taken care of.

Nice Improvement on the Belt! i think that doing M.I attire with only CS is kind of imposible, but 99 should be doable.

Yeesh! I remember that one! Colors are definitely KoF XIII Kyo, but I don't see any other use for it than that..

- Lower jacket: You can't make a square of it. Try making it a bit more open(in the chest area), and so, give the lower area a small curve to make it look more natural: from here, you will see that shading comes naturally, making things easier to you.

Aside these, you improved the problems with the crotch area/zippers.

MAYBE, drawing similar poses in paper before spriting would help you to figure out how to do things. It's a small trick I use(even I don't scan them)

Well, my to do list for Kyo:
- Fix belt/hands/jacket
- CS the paletted Kyo sprites
- Fix the sleeves on Kyo's finished sprites
- Do the guard/guard break sprites (ground, crouch, air positions)

At a glance I think it looks a lot better.

Maybe someone else can assess the individual frames of the animations by extracting them from the GIFs :P

make a palette already, that way you can apply the default palette so it can be critiziced.

you don't need to recolour, just learn to work with palettes, it's a very useful skill anyway.

You know, I never thought of that. I was thinking of finishing the 738 Cs'ed sprites by Jmorphman, and then select the needed sprites of Enlightend Shadow's CvS3 screenpack (I think it uses the 4-button KoF fighting system, but I'm not sure). I'm pretty sure the first part is a bad idea.

why would you make a 4-button KoF style Kyo for a project that is aiming for a 6-button CvS-ish gameplay? even the sprites are based on CvS, this just doesn't make sense to me.

 Ok then 6 button gameplay it is. Anyways I'll work in his dash forward and backward sprites. Hopefully it'll be the roll sprites,  then go over a few of the sprites I did and then: the attacks;  what everyone secretly wants ;)

Thanks for the input.  I'll definitely do the white lines, and I'll try my luck with the seam lines. Concerning the shoes, I'm not going to touch them. Same goes for the dangling part of kyo's belt cuz they both gave me a stroke when I tried to edit them. But thank you anyways.

Please, 6-button, all basics.


I really want to make a CvS2 style 2k3 Kyo with these sprites, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in wanting to make a 6-button Kyo with these new sprites.

That's a fabulous idea. Kyo is my most used and best character in CvS2, and I played with him at high level K-Groove. I know almost everything about CvS2 Kyo. If you decide to work on one, I can be your gameplay guy, testing out his mixups, combos, setups, and creating even more exciting ideas for him play-wise.

Just finished the standing guard sprite of Kyo. Not gonna upload it now, but once i finish his air and crouch guards, and his last two win poses, I'll upload em. Also, I'm gonna stop making GIFS cuz it's hectic. Gonna do a dampir and show samples. Much easier.

Well, at least some of the other parts are in there and CS'd for Jmorph to use. From what I recall, he made a XI mode in his beta version of Kyo. Perhaps these sprites can be of good use :).

Well, I got bored of studying shit so I decided to do some work on my CvS Kyo XI. I've recently finished Kyo's special intro with Ryu, which puts me at 163/738 frames (will probably be a lot more after removing the 'Kusanagi' mode frames, and adding VioFitz' edits :-\), and a sample:

I feel the animation for the legs could be a little smoother, because it suddenly goes stiff while the upper body is still moving. Not only that, but I do recall his leg movement being more dynamic on the Air Orochinagi. You would need to move his legs forward, to give a better impression that he's being thrown back after releasing such strong move. Since I don't know where else to get animations, I took a screenshot from a video for at least a bit of reference:

Actually, I'm going to work on a CvS DeeJay in SF4 style after I finish this Kyo and take a small break from pixelling characters. And I'll also make a poll topic, where you can choose which Capcom or SNK Playmore character you guys would like to see in CvS tyle (I have a bunch in mind :D)

You're welcome, it was really difficult with some matching "Air"-sprites after Walt's image recording together puzzles.

With you it was even more difficult to add that in KOF XIII all alone with no original CVS together, right?

Yeah, making the sprites from scratch would have taken a while, since I'm not that great at original spriting (at least not yet).

After this, I hope all discussion about other characters don't occur; I would like to focus on XIII Kyo now. I think Felo stopped doing Cammy after his hard drive crashed, most of her sprites were finished but he lost a good part of them, then he moved on to Viper, Juri and Rose

Haha, thanks man. Yeah I didn't make these sprites (was about to, but the user who gave me the old sprites (JoeNoeFer) gave me these sprites to work with).

I have made this sprite, and the problem persists in the head, do not use much this method, do it like I did. and black hatter, not for being wrong with you but, again as editor and character designer (not professional) to take my sprite as a base.

Hahahaha, that's a good one.
About the projects, the first three will take top priority. Then, depending on who comes after the third place, will be next
For example, if Demitri, Cody, and DR Cammy are the most voted for (based on the results), then after DR Cammy, Captain Commando will be done, then whoever is below Captain Commando and so on.

I originally planned for the 1st place character to be done after SSF4 DeeJay, but I might reconsider converting the first place character. Doesn't mean I won't work on DeeJay though; he's definitely on my "To-do for CvS3" list. ;)

Also as an update, I managed to fix the indexes of two of Kyo's animations thanks to a little bit of advice from Victorys. Only have a few animations, and then the rest is practically history. :)

Yep, basically since everybody hates his SFA3 prisoner attire (I actually like the latter, honestly). :)

And really the reason I dislike it so much is it's pretty depressing. He could save the city, save the girl, but not himself. Plus Capcom loves the outfit and I really can't see why.
