Has been suggested several times lately: a read-only section with, uh, legendary, epic topics. Focus probably on humor/drama.
We need at least five topics to start one. I have in mind, so far:
* The 10,000 NGBC Drama Slots of MUGEN [the world versus DJ-Van's mp3-plugin that wasn't his]
* The Coliseum [the single longest-running argument between two users]
* The New Guild poll topic [from August last year after the forum changes]
* Way To Go, MUGEN DEV Forum! >:( [snapshot of the confusion caused by the release of the WinMUGEN hack]
* The Dangers of MUGEN [it is not safe to bring MUGEN to other countries!!!!!!!]
[insert links later.] More suggestions?
Reasons against such a section: might incite some users to purposefully try to make topics and post in a manner they think will secure them a spot in the boards of legends [more often than not, they will fail and make Bad Topics/Posts instead].

Well. We'd try to choose only topics of a certain level. They would need to be comical from most perspectives. That most of these topics become funny because of accidents or because one or several persons blunder is just how it goes. Mmh.
Like QOTD but longer and better.

Not all topics have to be humorous, legendary useful topics could also be saved.
I can't think on a single one, though. Like the topics in which permission to use snk-capcom sprites was attained.

Criteria:
* should be in some way outstanding not only for those who were involved
* i.e. guests and newly registered users of the future should be able to look at most of those threads and understand at least to a certain extent why they're there... ideally they also get most of the jokes, of course.
* so... universally interesting stuff and things that are kind of self-explanatory should go there; if it's something that nobody will get anymore come next year, it's probably not suitable.
* when considering a topic, try to imagine whether it might be worth reading it (or in some way notable/important/good to see/know...) from the point of view of any random new uninvolved user

Those were truly some of the Flamewar Glory Days.
Pity the forum calmed down. not.
The 'leak' thread was essentially the 'warehouse' thread which was essentially the 'leacher' thread, etc.
They were all basically the same arguement as it made it's way across the guild.
They were a big deal at the time, and the major news of the end of 2007 to the beginning of 2008.
By that definition, Hall of Fame material.
They kind of give the back story to some of the threads already in the Hall of Fame. (i.e How Dizzysoldier and Hotreezy dug their own graves.)
These threads resulted in bannings and hurt feelings all around.
But then again, they are unremarkable in the fact that they are nothing but a collection of flamewars.

It's the 5th most (non-stickied) replied to topic in All That's Left, and at the same time, the 17th most viewed. That's a damn good ratio. And it only took around 5 days for that to happen.

That thread was memorable? But it was just what we've been seeing in the rest of the year. It was the same as the rest of the club syn fights, i'm sure THEY weren't all HoF'ed.
Memorable is something that spirals completely out of control and has the bulk of posters taking it quite seriously. Not a thread that looks like it was hijacked out of a spam forum containing bad meme's and tired quotes. May as well find a topic with "all your base are belong to us" and tack it in there.

In re-reading some of it...it was pretty much me. There was really no trolling from the other members. They changed their sig and avatar and that was the extent of it, pretty much.
And on top of that...through the main part of it, I barely even posted in it. It took on a life of its own.

There have been many small groups trolling, not just you. And although the threads get big, it's mostly through the group as a whole being trolls and responding, as a group, to everyone else. 1 persons thread hitting 13 pages is far more successful than a 5 person thread hitting 13 pages.

I saw that after I said it.
My only guess is the environment in which it was nominated.
The first time momo put it up, it was slapped down by almost everyone immidiately.
I remembered thinking it was amusing and sad, but not hysterical.
But the second time, Jango nominates it,
I guess a period of time had passed that people had kind of forgotten about it.
This time it immidiately recieves a string of "+11, +14, etc."
So I figured enough people liked it, and decided to read it.
I found it amusing, and since several people seemed to like it, I put it in.
After checking a couple of pages back, I realized how little sense all of it had made. :P

Well the Hall of Fame threads I've always seen as threads that any noob can read and find it amusing or interesting. Highlights of the forum for newbies. However from reading that thread I didn't find it too funny to be honest, I mean the joke was nice but nothing Hall of Fame worthy in my opinion.

I am working with 3 other guys that need to act on crit and responses to allow this project to progress. i dont need people that are going to be "casual fans" from a distance. if you cant comprehend that stance, then i dont know what else you understand in general.

the feedback is not what set me off, i got used to the idea of having the regulars comment, so i am fine with it staying that way, what pissed me off 2 days ago was frederikas response. the reason why it pissed me off so much is because in my opinion she is the equivalent to a roadside hobo and a hobo calling you shit to me is offensive.
also when frederika stated my work was awful it was purely out of spite and not even a shred of truth was in her statements. at least strangelove later explained his logic. frederika just came across as a ignorant arsehole so I played her at her own game.

Therefore I have nothing to work with, its like a builder that isnt getting any correspondence when he is building a tower, the end result is a wonky, unpolished tower with a bad infrastructure. Yeah my bad... In reality I am one of those guys that hang around with a thick skinned bunch, my friends are from multiple different ethnic backgrounds but we will rip on eachothers race just for a laugh. Or do something dumb like hitting on a mates mum and see how far you get. Also my mates in my flat do stupid shit like waking you up in the morning with a shawn michaels flying elbow drop..... yeah so i do stupid things a lot of the time without realizing whos around me.
