Yes. I love you.
Also
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990's)
I loved this movie, for a film based off something popular among little kids, it was pretty dark at the time, and the Shredder kicked all kinds of ass. (Even though he got owned at the end)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWekmB1_82E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWekmB1_82E)
Darkman
Honestly, if you watch this movie today you WILL laugh and you WILL find it corny..but I still think it's worth checking out. Even though the film is pretty cheesy, it is interesting and the character himself is as well. I consider him a combination of Chameleon from Spiderman mixed with The Punisher and a hint of Phantom of The Opera. Also watch part 2 and 3. Oh..and..Liam Neeson!

- Fight Club
- Donnie Darko
- The Usual Suspects (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbQWBTY4co8)

I had already pointed out at least two from your list . =p
If you like those, check the others I pointed out.
-
(All the movies except the two I linked to had already been mentioned.)
-
It's not surprising that you liked Fight Club too. Wish I could read the book, though.
My recommendations:
Any Kubrick movie, specially The Shining and Dr. Strangelove.
Oh, I forgot:
The Shining (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0g1WUTuIQ8&feature=related)
Dr. Strangelove (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gb0mxcpPOU)
-
movies sepp eeked at I didn't like so much as what a real movie should look like, it was mainly interesting in a human behaviours way
ie I didn't state Titanic just cause I am all OMG THIS IS SO ROMANCE IM ALL BROKEN FROM TEARS NOW :P , I was only interested in the scene where the orchestra violonists etc kept/couldn't stop performing when the passengers were escaping when the ship was about to sink, and the lines around the "you are a good liar" one
martial arts movies just for kicks cause rare are ones that are good, and I can't remember what great movies I've watched so far

still
Godfather Trylogy
The Egzorcist
Omen
Terminator
TRON
Highlander
Robocop
and so on
if you ask about some modern stuff... hmm Saw, American Pie (for laugh), all stuff by Christopher Nolan, AI by Steven Spielberg, and more
-
I would suggest one of my personal favorite movies, The Money Pit. Tom Hanks
It's an 80's 'series of unfortunate events' comedy, and in my opinion, the definitive movie of the genre.
Great for laughs.
-
AI Sucked because of Steven.
It was a Kubrick Movie, he died while making it and Stevie the Cartoon like Jones movie Director messed up what could have been a great movie.
You can almost see who directed what while watching it. If it has some Fast movie CG bullshit Steven, If it has great slow moving scene's with awesome cinematography then it was Kubrick.

John Leguizamo's Mambo Mouth.

The Inner Circle
A great movie about Stalin's influence on ordinary Russian citizens as seen through the eyes of the man who used Stalin's movie projector. It's an American movie filmed in the Soviet Union, which is amazing, eventhough the Soviet Union was already falling in 1990.
Hunt for the Red October
I like submarine movies and this was great. Nice music too.

what about Manos, the Hands of Fate?
Oh hell no, not even close.
This movie is as about as depraved as you can get without it being porn or snuff; and it's kind
of a little of both.
Here's a little sample of the plot.

Divine lives under the pseudonym "Babs Johnson" with her simple-minded, egg-loving mother Edie (Edith Massey), delinquent son Crackers (Danny Mills), and voyeuristic traveling companion Cotton (Mary Vivian Pearce). They reside in a mobile home (in front of which can be found a pair of pink, plastic flamingos, accounting for the film's title) on Philpot Road in Phoenix, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore. After learning that Divine has been named "the filthiest person alive" by a tabloid paper, wealthy rivals Connie (Mink Stole) and Raymond Marble (David Lochary) set out to destroy the tight-knit family but come undone in the process.
The Marbles run an "adoption clinic," which is actually a black market baby ring. They kidnap young women, have them impregnated by their manservant, Channing (Channing Wilroy), and sell their babies to lesbian couples. The proceeds are used to finance a network of dealers selling heroin in inner-city elementary schools. Raymond also gets money by exposing himself to unsuspecting women in a park and stealing their purses when they flee.

Is this really that good of a movie?
I've never seen it
the fact that Spike Lee had the balls to name his main character Hector Negron was a bit of a turn off for me.
-
It is a real name you know?
Here
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/hector/negron (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/hector/negron)
and isn't that based on a true story.

well, even based on true story movies aren't usually that close to the original story

everyone here is saying its like the scariest movie thus far. i saw it last night, wasnt scared just creeped out a bit but i fucking LOVED the movie! does a great job of presenting itself as an amateur film documentation of a poltergeist/haunting
if youre scared easily then beware, it does have alot of WTF JUST HAPPENED moments, but great fun

Usual Suspects (1995)
Saw it last night. Story was well made and it's involed great villian character Keyser Soze :P Ending was shocked. Kevin Spacey was great (as usual), heck even he win his first Oscar for this movie. I think this is kind of movie which everyone should see, because it combined two essential keys which make movie great, which is cool story and acting.

a little Indie Movie called Murder Party.
Not so much a "Great" movie, but a really fun one.
-
High Anxiety.
It's a parody of Hitchcock-style dramas, made in the late 70's. It's actually really funny, and even as a parody it doesn't sacrifice everything just to be funny.
-
Prince of Persia
The movie was alright, and you knew what would happen next cause the movie is that predictable. Nonetheless, it is the greatest video game based movie I have ever seen.
P.S. The parts with the Entrepenuer are the most humorous parts in the movie.

I don't that that a movie that was
alright
constitutes for a great movie that everyone should see, even if it was one of the first not complete crap video game movies.

One of the most mindblowing movies i watched so far. The only problem of this movie is that it takes some time to understand the plot and stuff.

This is a really subjective list but
Way of the Dragon - Bruce Lee - Martial Arts
Drunken Master 2 - Jackie Chan - Martial Arts

My actual list became quite long so decided to shorten it into films I think are outstanding and films no one seems to mention...
-
The Expendables. It's an 80s action motive seasoned with buddy cop and martial arts. Also, the first Bad Lieutenant, it's a wonderful train wreck. The second as well if you like seeing Nick Cage lose his shit.
-
fuck it, people need to see the the 2nd bad lieutenant.

^This.

But it's... terrible. It shits all over the comic.
Yeah I forgot about the comic, but most of the time and in most situations comics are better anyway. Still can't be helped if the movie does bring books to life, which is what I actually liked about it.
-
The Haunting in Connecticut, give that movie a chance... it is the most decent poltergeist style horror movie in along time.

3 Dev Adam.
This thing is so bad its hilarious.
-
Is it as bad as The Room?

There won't be a good live-action Batman movie until Harley Win represents. Which won't happen now because no one wants to upstage Heath Ledger.
-
Haven't seen it, but I heard it was one of the worst movies ever.
3 Dev Adam is a Turkish film with El Santo, shield-less Captain America and an evil green-and-red Spider-Man with a potbelly and thick, bushy eyebrows who leads a gang called "The Spiders" and doesn't die. You be the judge.

-
Troll Hunter (2010)
it is an awesome movie. trolls exist in norwegian jungles
-
oh dude i SO loved this movie: i'm a sucker for hand camera type movies, even though it's been a trend for the past 10 years....but this one was very cool: maybe it was the cultural thing behind it, maybe just because it was a nerdy subject (trolls :) ) but i loved it!
EDIT: just to clarify: TrollHunter (english)/ Trolljegeren (norvegian)

Some good movies are:
Super (the 2010 movie with Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page)
Hesher
Bereavement
Leon: The Professional
-
The Changeling (1980)
a movie about haunted mansion, one of the best chilling horror movie
-
"La Casa Muda", an Uruguayan horror film released in 2010 and directed by Gustavo Hernández
very excellent pace & atmosphere: the main thing (the buzz about it) is the fact that the entire movie is one single shot, think the "Goodfellas" scene when Ray Liotta and his girlfriend arrives at the restaurant, but for 1h30

(Thanks for the tip. The wifey is a fan of horror movies!)

Let's get a kaijuu movie in here.
Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184503)
You have to watch the first two movies to fully appreciate this one (namely for continuity and some references), but they're pretty good anyway and worth the a view. However this movie is superior to any other kaijuu movie I've watched. Yes, in my opinion, it's better than any of the Godzilla movies.
One thing that will surprise is that rather than focus on monsters destroying shit for two hours, it focuses on Ayana, a girl who witnessed her parents die when Gamera unintentionally destroyed a building fighting Gyaos in the first movie. Her anger drives a large part of the story, and while I don't want to give away too much of the story, expect a lot of gross-out and horror movie stuff to happen.
Needless to say, the ending is probably the darkest, yes best ending I've seen for one of these types of movies, leaving it open to the user's imagination. As much as I want to see what happens after (yes I know there's a 45-minute doujin movie that does just that, doesn't count), they couldn't have ended this trilogy better. I actually shed a tear watching it. My hat's off to you, Gamera.
On a sadder note, though, if you want to buy it and you live in America, the USA Blu-Ray release is terribly flawed. A large amount of subtitles are missing and/or mistranslated to the point of it looking like a Hong Kong bootleg. The dub isn't too bad if you want the picture quality to be high, but if you MUST watch with subtitles, you can hunt down ADV's old DVD release.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
By the way, no matter how good this movie is, it doesn't make up for any of the Showa Gamera movies (although I have a soft-spot for Gamera VS Guiron just because of how ridiculous it is)
-
The Pit (1981)
"The Pit (1981) was filmed during a time when many films were made about the concept of evil children. In this Canadian Horror, Jamie is a 12 year old boy viewed upon as a bit of a outcast, and finds solace by talking to his Teddy bear, much to the chagrin of his parents, and babysitter who are beginning to think he may developing some serious psychological problems. So when he finds carnivorous ancient trolls living in a pit close to his home he keeps it a secret. He considers them friends and aids in feeding them by providing live victims, generally people who have been cruel to him.."

Well, if the thread is about posting bad horror movies now...

Oldboy (2003)
One of best korean movies I have seen. In fact proably best mystery/drama/thiller I ever seen in my life. You remember famous quote of Alfred Hitchcock who once said "The way to make a film is to begin with an earthquake and work up to a climax" ? That's exactly how this movie is made. You are literally thrown into mystery right away after beginning and from that point tension just goes higher & higher. I'm huge fan of thrillers and I've seen many of them. None so far was able beat Oldboy. Story is so well written, full of suprises, and there is some action too. Movie hold your attention from first to last second and that's really rare these days.
Rcomended to everyone. You will be stunned by quality of this movie I assure you. I never give any movie 10/10 but this one was very close.
9,5/10
-
Thanks for the recommendation. Just watched it, and it's some amazing movie indeed. :)
-
make sure to watch the 2 others (Oldboy is the second movie) because they are part of a "trilogy" centered on the notion of vengeance ( Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance / Oldboy / Sympathy for Lady Vengeance): of course Oldboy will usually stand as the "best" one of the 3 but they all have something particular in their own way
-
I watched Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance (which is first party of Trilogy, Oldboy is second) some time ago and it was okay movie. It was bit confusing, there was much more drama and less mystery. Overall it was good. But it's very weak compared to Oldboy....
Still have to watch Sympathy to Lady Vengeance sometime later. All parts of "trilogy" are separated movies and theme of vengeance and sharing some actors, is the only things they have in common.
-
Kinda like the Man with No Name Trilogy.
Stories don't really follow each other but they feature some of the same actors, particularly Clint Eastwood, and take place in the wild west.
-
Why aren't there more posts in here? Come on people!
The beginning in whats going to be the greatest movie series of all time. I'm not exaggerating, either.
Kung Fu Panda (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZCCQ5OhsCc)
And the sequel. This movie actually made me cry. It was that sad, but also that awesome. Probably my most favorite movie ever.
Kung Fu Panda 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xaq_R53LlI0)
I'm sure most of us have seen this, but for those who haven't...well just watch it. It's definitely one of my most favorite. Funny and romantic.
Tarzan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwU5ZqyhV5Q)
I like this movie because 1. The timeline. 2. It's fucking awesome and 3. The ending. I don't want to spoil it, but I love what the main character does. Another one of my most favorites. Funny, dramatic, romantic and adventurous.
Atlantis - The Lost Empire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkrkTgICzHM)
This movie was one of the most adventurous movies I'd ever seen. I enjoyed every last second of it and I highly suggest watching it. It's very well done.
The Adventures of Tintin 2011 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ua_4ajpP58)
I don't know why, but I hear a lot of women trying to degrade this movie all the time and guys loving it like no tomorrow. The acting was great, the graphics was pretty damn good and scary and the ending (while I'm sure it pissed a lot of people off, it didn't piss me off) was very dramatic and sad. It's the kind of movie you watch by locking yourself in a room, turning the lights off and burying yourself under a cover. You don't pause this shit or talk to people during the movie. It will ruin it. Also, no women. They'll bitch and moan through the whole thing.
The Grey 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqP2o62sZMs)
This movie was non-stop hilarious and I think anyone who's into comedy, but mostly vulgar comedy (sex, drugs, etc.) should watch this. Don't worry about it's story or acting. It was done very well, but it's not the main point here. It's the comedy you should watch this movie for.
21 Jump Street 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZirgAYBcOgo)
The last one for now. The best way to describe this movie was through it's acting I guess. And the fact that it has real vampires. The storyline was perfect and the comedy was the kind that the whole family can watch and it's still hilarious (albeit the sex scene was a little much...that is if you can even call it a sex scene.) Plus, it has Chloe Moretz....She's 15. That's old enough for me.
Dark Shadows 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q-0_m_Pz24)
-
Also, no women. They'll bitch and moan through the whole thing.

What? It's not watchable if you have someone whining about how bad the movie is the entire time.

Disappointed in you Noctis for not mentioning Treasure Planet.

Disappointed in you Noctis for not mentioning Treasure Planet.
I agree...I'm a sad existence. To think I forgot the one movie that I loved so much I would watch it everyday.
Basically the same description as Atlantis - The Lost Empire. Great storyline, great adventure and it's pretty funny at some times. It doesn't have any romance (sadly), but it has men sharing a bond. I always kind of disliked the ending because I like pirates, but it wasn't a bad ending.
Treasure Planet Bitches (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxVlmXQoq9A)

My GF didn't moan during the Grey, she even loved it.
And she doesn't like violent movies nor horror movies (I know it's not a horror movie, but it sure has its scary bits).

-
The saddest part of Milo and Otis was the part when their mother told them to change their underwear.
ON A SERIOUS NOTE, I dunno what genre some of these movies fall in, so we'll go by country. Keep in mind some are in native language, others are translated titles. Also these are ordered in no particular order, and this is by no means comprehensive. Most of this is what popped in my head that hasn't been mentioned already (I might have listed some things that are already here, too lazy to keep searching this thread).

-
The movie TED 2012 great movie it's hilarious. That's it really since everyone else said all the old good movies.
-
The saddest part of Milo and Otis was the part when their mother told them to change their underwear.
As this was about a dog and a cat filmed in live action, i sure as heck don't remember that.
-
A while back, there was a Cartoon Planet sketch called "Change," where Space Ghost talks about how change is important, and sites Milo and Otis, although in his story, they were twin boys. When their mother told them to change their underwear, they'd just swap pairs with each other.
I know that has nothing to do with the real Milo and Otis, I just pull that trick on people whenever they mention that movie.
-
My GF didn't moan during the Grey, she even loved it.

I didn't. I just posted what I felt like because fuck 14 pages.
I just watched Aladdin yesterday night because I had never saw it. I found it more hilarious than anything else. Loved Genie.
I also just recently watched Hercules. It instantly became a classical favorite. I never did like the actual story of Hercules, though (he kills his wife and his son...)
I don't think I've ever heard of Mile and Otis. I'll have to check this out to see if it's truly worthy of my man tears.
-
I never did like the actual story of Hercules, though (he kills his wife and his son...)
Greek mythology is hardcore.
It's also awesome and I don't like the Disney movie for changing it, I don't care how unfilmable it would be! >:[

I guess I can understand your being upset over it seeing as you know the original story, but it's not like they pulled an "Evolution".

I can understand making changes to get rid of the adultery aspect, but I dunno, it's kind of a big deal for Herc. Instead of Hera, they made Hades a villain and that's just mean, he's stuck in the underworld and now he has to be evil too. :-\
-
But he's Cool Disney Bad Guy evil. So it's all good.

idiocracy. if you wanna know the truth, i watched it entirely because i saw this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRQijskAMp4)
i'm really tired atm and can't think of much, except it was great. it's both hilarious and absolutely frightening, goofy yet bleak, but thoroughly entertaining all the way through. apparently this got screwed in terms of marketing which really sucks. i thought it was pretty brilliant
i think my favorite part is the whole thing with the movie literally called 'ass' due to the fact that it is a completely straightforward stab at andy warhol actually making a movie called 'taylor mead's ass', which was...well...yeah.
now go away, i'm batin'!

I made my own image since I CANNOT STAND the retarded-looking promotional poster. It SERIOUSLY makes me throw up inside that a movie so good could have a poster so bad...
Oh, and also, "Aladdin" and All Three "Back To The Future" Movies...
-
isnt this just a repeat of the "movies you should watch " thread
I'll then say that everyone should watch Goodfellas and A Bronx Tale. Both are fantastic Mob movies that everyone should see. Seriously.
Honorable Mention goes to The Departed. That and Goodfellas are Scrosese at his best.

I have not seen Tenebaums or 2001. Thoughts on those two films?? Should I watch them, like, immediately??

Inmediately.
2001 is Kubrick's masterpiece (along with Clockwork Orange)
And Tenembaums is Wes Anderson's masterpiece (In my opinion)
