My guess is that you have messed up the select.def by replacing some of the blanks with the names of your character folders. I would download the select.def again, copy & paste the parts that are correct, and see where it starts going wrong. Be sure not to touch the blanks or inserting too many names between the blanks, just replace the randomselects.

guys another screenpack and i have issues with it, i got mugen tournament 3 and while plying like for 1/2 an hour it closes itself and gaves me this message
Assert failure in charsel.c line 3162
does anybody knows what the heck is going on????
Any help will be appreciated.
Another solution:
Change the mugen.cfg, under [Arcade], AI.RandomColor = 1
