Ok.Now I understand.How do you get a soft modchip?How much are they?

Softmodding does require a modchip... for the best results head over to xbox-scene.com

I'd explain in true detail... but unfortunately im lazy by omission and i no longer own my soft modded box.

But its easy to follow... if you get lost ask me i will eventually get off my ass and tell you how.

I have softmodded 3 xboxes & never needed a modchip... thats why it's a softmod. softmodding requires 1 of 3 certain games (again, I recommend looking around the afterdawn.com forums) an action replay & a memory card. i won't go into further detail, pm me if you need more help on this but i wanted to clear that up.

Why all these questions if you first need to buy a PS2, a Gamecube, a X-Box, a Dreamcast, a X-Bos 360 and a pancake ?

lol what's the pancake for?

lol.Pancake.I already have a PS2.I was only wondering if mugen can be played on a game system. But it got me into actually wanting to do it.I'm either going for Dreamcast or Xbox.

I have heard it would run on the Dreamcast but there are no tuts online about that. (something about memory limitations ?) for Xbox check here http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/ (they're way better at it and you can download what you need for xbox... after it's been modded mind you

animugen: check xboxscene.com

ishi: yah, that's how i got mugen on the xbox too, since youa re already ftping i suggest you to ftp xbox mediacenter to it, it is a great program for multimedia, you can watch even youtube video, connect to shoutcast, etc..

afterdawn also has some good tuts, thats how i learned & xbmc will play almost any file (only file i tried that didn;t work was .flv videos from youtube

So how much is a Modchip & how do you install it onto your Xbox?

way easier to just do a softmod, takes less than 20 mins in all

What's FTPing anyway?lol :P

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer data from one computer to another over the Internet, or through a network. if you have a router you can ftp files around your network as long as you have the ip address of the console/computer you're trying to connect to. Xbox's that are modded and connected to a router can connect to the net (though i know of no browser for it) and you can view the ip address from the settings

So the point is we're all being consumed by something that isn't technically ours and it won't do much good in the real world.

We're All:
The point I was trying to get across was to the creators mainly. General Users are far more prone to boredom, which I believe leads to their quitting earlier. Creators on the Other hands are staying in and doing exactly that, creating, spending ridiculous amounts of time on the process of creating a char, while being manipulated by General Users (more likely subconsciously/unintentionally) explained in more detail in point 2:

http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=62688.msg524305#msg524305

and it won't do much good in the real world:
That was actually more of a secondary point. I didn't mean for anyone to heavily focus on that because it is a given. I jus meant to reinforce the point to show the ridiculous nature of how mant of us, act around the engine.

agreed, Ive been on the net for almost 10 years and the Mugen community by far is the complete opposite of every other community (games, music, general stuff...etc.) on the strength of "wanting a character" to the point of harassment. I've been into Mugen for almost a year now, and 95% of characters I have I found on my own, through backlinks, archives and the like. The other 5% were requests... and thats only when I was a "noob" and didn't look for myself. Elecbyte's not coming back, the Guild is now a warehouse... who would have thought so much drama could come from abandonware (that's basically a hack of a beta)

it's madness, but that's just how I feel :-\

well I'm not saying you can, I'm saying its possible...

The PS2 Linux distribution is based on Kondara MNU/Linux, a Japanese distribution itself based on Red Hat Linux, so it's not out of the question

maybe you can find a little more info here: http://playstation2-linux.com/

Linux kits aren't sold in stores anymore (except maybe gamestores like EB or Gamestop) but ebay is always a good place to look... I'm thinking about getting one that way. Also, again, pawn shops, flea markets, swap meets... even garage sales, you just gotta keep an eye out.
