Do you have to use the HD resolution? No. And most of us don't. Especially as you can put an HD character in an HR res and it will look how it should.

HD really only makes a difference for screensize, how stages get placed and screenpacks. It will not affect characters or correctly made stages if you use them in HR. Too many people don't realise this.

What exactly did Hitler get out of murdering the jews though? It can be argued, easily, that because of his persecution he forced some of the smartest in his country to leave for america, resulting in America becoming a power house in the fields of military weaponry, science, medicine etc. , something I already pointed out.

Also it's widely sourced that most germans did not know the extent of what hitler was doing.

Further, have you ever heard of the Milgram experiments? Those explain why Hitler was able to convince so many to do what they did. I recommend you read up on them, not to mention the Bystander effect/diffusion of responsibility theory explored by Katz(2006) in the article "Pro Social Behavior".
