I don't think the kryptonite scene was needed, even though Goku did act the way he should've. Just felt unnecessary.

Goku would just tank through it or break through any restraint, physical or mental, with brute force, because that's how things work in DBZ, no matter how cunning a plan is. You either hit hard enough (or restrain with enough force), or you don't.
And that's why Superman would probably win. He goes up against dudes who just punch the fuck out of stuff all the time, and he always beats those guys because he's smarter than them. Simply being really, really, strong is not going to cut it against Superman.
