I... actually don't hate Fennekin's final evo.  I kinda... kinda like it.

Chespin revolts me, however.  Oh my god why,

Okay, despite Fennekin's promising start, the frog is straight up winning in the "non-sucky evolutions" category between the starters.

1.  Unda, by Faun, album Licht.  Lyrics (in entirety):
"Unda attingit / Te et abducit / Te in profunda / Sicut es unda"

or

"The wave reaches you / and leads you / down into the depths. / Likewise you are the wave."

2. "Sicut es Unda" plz

3. Sicut es Unda is now my stand!

4.  Sicut es Unda's torso, neck, and head are made up largely of coral, held together by various mechanical bits into a muddled but lean humanoid shape.  His arms and legs are translucent blue.  His abilities are primarily passive, including immunity to liquid currents of any kind, the ability to breathe comfortably when underwater, and enhanced fluidity of motion.  His main attack, TE IN PROFUNDA, can be used one of two ways - either as a near-inescapable grip like a raging riptide, or as a powerful crashing shot like a massive wall of water breaking over one's head.  His power grows in proximity to moving water or ocean; both magnify the power of his wave-like attack, and a foe unfortunate enough to be caught in his riptide grip while near a sea or ocean will likely be dragged down to crushing depths (barring their escape, that is).

Did I do it right?

Because of course Fennekin stands up.  Is a quadruped Fire-type too much to ask?  I mean I guess Ninetails already fills the whole fire-type fox on four legs niche but still.

It's possible I'm still sore over Tepig not evolving into a badass Fire/Dark hell-boar with a flaming mane and big tusks.

Skepticism abounds.

I'll give it this much, though - the suit looks pretty good.  Unnecessary red visor light aside, anyway.  But that's kinda like having pretty decorations on an ugly cake.  It's nice they got that much right, but if the whole thing tastes foul, it amounts to nothing.

I actually like the Kanto starter mega forms.  They actually look reasonable, versus say Lucario Super Saiyain 4 or Ampharos' flowing mane of mega-ness.  Venusaur could've used something to make it more distinct from its non-mega version and I'm on the fence about Charizard's second set of wings but none of these strike me as stupid at all like the first wave did.

Dredd

Well if that wasn't a delightful hard R violence-fest 90's throwback, I don't know what is.  I'm a bit upset the mutants/Anderson's psychic powers thing didn't pay off.  It was all established pretty hard, but the muties thing goes nowhere and the psychic powers are basically the power of plot convenience.  The mindfuck scene was neat though.

7/10, great if you want to kill some time with an solid, entertaining flick, but if you're looking for a masterpiece, keep looking.

Former MMPR cast member wants to make PG-13 stand alone movie about the Green Ranger.

Sounds like silly wishful thinking (because the whole concept is indeed silly). But hey.

I'm going to totally ignore any potential continuity issues with this seeing as the overarching "continuity" of Power Rangers only ever comes up for the sake of conveniently explaining crossovers and the rare throwback (Rita Repulsa being the Mother of Magic in Mystic Force, for instance).

With that out of the way.  I think this could work as a one-off special.  I don't agree that Tommy has the franchisability of Wolverine, but a mostly standalone hour-long anniversary special featuring Green Ranger kicking some ass could be pretty sweet.  Keep the language toned down but dial up the violence to PG-13 levels would work, I think.  Throw in some Dragonzord action for good measure.

It'd take some serious finagling, but this might be the opportunity to provide the Lord Zedd fight we never got in MMPR.  I can't think of how right off hand, though.  Maybe Rita left him and he's bitter or something.

As much as I hate to agree with Pessimist Knight S.D., I kinda have to.  Season 3 is just... not great.  At all.  The first half is a total slog minus one or two episodes, and even with the second half improving pretty much all around, it's still not really worth it.  If you really want to see it, wait until Over-Time does a batch file of 720p or 480p and get those.  There's just not enough suit or monster action to justify spending the time and bandwidth on 1080p.

I'm only sticking with it because it's better than Wizard and Sambasaurs doesn't interest me.

Gaim looks better than I expected given the fruit theme.  It couldn't be any more plain and uninteresting than Wizard, at any rate.  A fruity refreshment to Wizard's plain sugar, if you will.

Anyway, anybody else still slogging through watching Garo?  I like it better now that they've run out of episodes to piss around with and have to start answering questions.

EDIT: So apparently the mega forms can only be activated in-battle using a hold item. There goes eviolite. :(

Oh, so it's more like going Super Saiyan via tool than DIGIVOLVE TOOOOO....  That's not so bad I guess.

If it's MegaJynx then I guess I'll just have to make case-by-case exceptions based on how stupid I think a given Pokemon is.  For example, MegaLucario is stupid, but MegaAbsol looks kinda neat.

A starter getting a new evolution?  Pokemon getting a Digimon treatment?

I'm... not okay with this.

I suppose in theory I could simply refuse to use them much like I did Magnezone and its more ridiculous Gen4 ilk (I'm not competitive so it doesn't hurt me at all) but at a certain point, when one is ignoring an increasing number of dumb features, one starts to wonder why one is even bothering anymore.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go fire up my rom of Pokemon Crystal and sob while drinking orange cream vodka and remembering "the good ol' days."

EDIT:  Actually I don't immediately hate that Jynx evo.
