Deleting AI?

Hey guys. Saw in another thread someone talking about how people waste time making AI for characters that could be spent improving that character or makingother charactrs, and the MUGEN has difficulty modes for a reason, etc. Seems to hit home with me. Who finds playing against characters that counter everything perfectly any fun? It isn't.

So, what do I have to delete in a character's folder to get rid of the AI?  I've found characters with no programmed AI still do stuff, which is good enough for me.

Thanks.

May I direct you to the comment before that which says "updates might be needed later", which I already covered about the authors not being around to do so making the character unusable, etc. etc. It's all right there.

bah, see that's what I am not interested in... unless someone can write an "auto-convert" tool, like DOS2WIN makes DOS Mugen characters work in WIN Mugen. Think there's a chance of that? I'm just not going to watch all my old stuff be unusable, and if I have to stay with the old versions that's what I'll do.

Define "much effort". Some of us are totally clueless about stuff like this. :)

Hell, it took a while to teach myself all this stuff, I feel like I'm having to start over again.

I would like to retract my statement earlier. The thing that worries me the most about this new MUGEN is that all the stuff from the last ten years won't work... and I really don't want that cause I spent a long time teaching myself how to use this, how to add characters, etc. Plus all the time spent finding and downloading them, etc.

And if they don't work in the new MUGEN, it's like starting over, and I'm just plain unwilling to do that. Now, if 1.0 is backwards compatible with everything, then hey, no problem, no reason to not update then. But I really don't want to start right over, since I highly doubt even 20% of my characters would be ported due to authors disappearing, etc.

I'm not totally against 1.0, I just don't want to have to ditch everything and start over. If there's backwards compatibility and it's maintained, then yeah, fine, bring on the next generation of MUGEN.

Is this still gonna be usable on pre-1.0 Mugen? Cause I'm not interested in a version that currently runs on less than half the computers out there so far. The one I have works and is perfectly fine, I don't need to be dicking around with a new version that may or may not run all my old characters.

MediaFire has upped sticks and died. Middle of last night when I was in the middle of a download spree. Everything else goes down regular. *shrugs*  I don't get it either.

She looks really good, though. I hope however long I have to wait will be worth it.lol

Nemephosis: Looks like Scarlet Witch forgot the rest of her wardrobe. o.O

ah, Scarlet Witch. Alright, I'll see if I can find it...although I did forget momentarily about the request section, which I was just headed off to use.

edit: Well first I`ll see if I have some luck here. zvitor, is that Scarlet Witch yours?

I guess you wait until 1.0-compliant versions of those programs are made.

Old characters are playable in new mugen.

That is good news. Then to be honest, I'm not sure I see why it needs to be "worth it". Even if it doesn't offer anything new now, it can later, without ruining years of work from other people.

Now I think I gotta go with everyone else: What's the big problem then?

Well, get crackin' making it then.

Perhaps you ought to read the thread that says "YOU MUST READ THESE BEFORE REQUESTING" to find out why this is a bad idea.

Will the new version work with all my old characters?

If not, we just discovered whether it's worth updating or not, cause I'm not dumping everything from creators that aren't around to update their shit anymore.

What I suppose we could do is perhaps, if there is no BC, make a tool that converts a character to be used on this version of MUGEN. You know, kind of like the DOS2WIN thing that converts DOS characters to WinMUGEN. But forgive me if I don't see the need to drop years of old characters just because the guy who made it sees fit to come back and divide the community with a new release.

TBH Yes. It means people have to update their stuff. The ones that care do and the ones that don't... Well, they don't. A lot of the shit gets left behind while a lot of the other stuff gets updated by the people who care.

So what do we do with the characters created, say, six years ago, with the author long gone? OH WELL DUZENT MATTAR NEW VERSION OLOLO

Real great fucking idea there, eh.

Man, it worked. You've always got the right answer for everything.

I can't even begin to thank you enough, but I guess "Thank you" will have to do... so thank you! :D

Alright, that is OBVIOUSLY not the Fatal Fury version... I can tell just by looking at the screenshot. I appreciate the sentiment, thank you, but definitely not the right Krauser.

Even if I knew who did one, I might be able to find one myself... unfortunately nothing's comiing up..

edit: Damn it! One like this!

http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/masadas/

Except that works... I can't gert it to work, it spits out an error and crashes MUGEN.

Christ's sake, I'm like SO close to getting this...

I was told I am allowed to bump if I have a new request... I found that Mumor character, so disregard that one.

You would think it shouldn't be this hard... but I can not for the life of me find a Wolfgang Krauser from the old Fatal Fury series. I've found others, but they're not quite what I'm looking for. On 4shared I have like 64 pages of search results, no way in hell is it feasible to go through all of them and find the one I am looking for. Why is this so hard to find?

Does anyone have a Wolfgang Krauser from the old Fatal Fury games?

edit: Okay, they don't like linking... gimme a sec to rehost it

What is a tar.gz file? I can't open this.

Edit: And because this got moved, it makes no sense now. There's a release in the Your Releases forum that is zipped into a GZ file or whatever. How do you open those?
