Thank you for the feedback!
I do agree he's overpowered, but that's easy enough to tone down for the next update.  The pincushion glitch I'm having trouble solving, but I'll keep trying.
I ripped his animation frames sprite for sprite, he is from an older game so you're just seeing his old schoolness.  That doesn't mean he can't be smoothed out however, will take some work but it should be doable.

Anyone up for doing palettes?

And I used some Jinmen voices because frankly I didn't know what else to use.  His actual voice from Killing Blade is horrible and barely there.  I wanted someone creepy and Jinmen had some nice samples -- if anyone has a better suggestion, I'm all for it.  I'd rather not record my own voice, and he should be speaking in Japanese regardless (which I don't speak a word of).

I've been working on this character off-and-on for a while.  His name is Tsan.  He's originally from a game called The Killing Blade.  This is a customized version, and he fits right in with the Samurai Shodown characters.

The thing about Fei Long is that he is supposed to be Bruce Lee, they got as close as they could with his look and poses without being able to be sued by Lee's widow.  We are working on making his hair black and some other nice surprises.
And the One-Inch punch, the stomp, and some other custom Bruce moves have been added, and I'm all for adding more custom moves -- whatever will make him more Bruce I'm all for it.

Currently he's mostly Street Fighter Alpha mixed with custom.  Since Fei Long was used as the base... it doesn't seem right to take moves AWAY from Bruce, so instead it's about giving him a lot of options.

You can toggle between unarmed and nunchuck mode with the press of one button.  And now, obviously, he has finishing moves (Mortal Kombat system).

Whatever will make him fun to play, there's no strict rules (after all Bruce's philosophy was that there shouldn't be a rigid style -- Jeet Kune Do took things from every other style -- so it makes sense his video game self would do the same)

These are Enter the Dragon specific fatalities.  The one vs Han is how he kills him at the end of the movie, and the jump and stomp is how he killed O'Hara (I did embellish with the combo hits prior so it would be a little flashy).

Great idea about the Chuck Norris one.  With the fatality system in place, as many as we want can be added.  Double kick IS overpowered, so I can play through Arcade mode on my Enter the Dragon beta game through to the end quickly.  I'll tone it down prior to the release.

Quick update on Bruce...  The beta with nunchucks was released a few months ago.  In the meantime, I've added a custom fatality that he can do against Mr. Han ONLY - just like the end of the movie where he kicks him into the spear.

And another fatality he can do against anyone, which ends with the stomp:)

Here's a video showing both:

Thanks for the reply.
I never attempted to take credit for anything I didn't make.  I was pretty up front saying what I have done so far.  And believe me, it was hours and hours just to frankensprite storm shadow and replace/align sprites, add in all the Joes and Cobras to the backgrounds, find the music and record it etc etc.  As I'm sure you're aware, if I wasn't serious I wouldn't have spent that amount of time on it.
If I was releasing this and taking full credit, yeah that would be shitty of me, when the final game is released, I'll need permissions and everyone will be getting credits.  You notice my name is nowhere on this beta.  In fact, if you and Acey and Scar said that you three were teaming up to make a GI JOE Mugen game, I would be thrilled beyond belief.  I just want the damn game to exist, I am doing this out of necessity, not ego.

As for me creating new sprites, I'm no artist.  I truly admire the ones you made, it's beyond my skills unfortunately.  I can only go so far with this without a spriter.  I'd rather have all original stages etc if it was up to me.  But help is hard to find, everyone says they'd like a GI Joe game but no one wants to put in the effort and time.  Most folks just wait to download and either praise or criticize.  Which is fine, but that also means things will take longer or never come to fruition.

I figured that since you took the time to make those sprites, you must be a GI JOE fan like myself, so I was hoping that by showing this WIP it might inspire talented Joe fans to help out.  I agree that the BG chars should be animated, even if it's just a few extra standing frames.  Don't remember where Zartan came from, I started this about a year ago and put it aside for months.

Maybe someone can explain to me why Naruto is so popular, but GI JOE has hardly any presence in MUGEN.

Oh, and that shooter you linked to above?  That is just odd!

May I ask what difference it makes if none of the AI or moves will be left?

Prime, if you're the one that made those sprites then
A)  THANK YOU!  They've amazing
B)  Now I know who to ask permission for to use them in this game.
C)  Any interest in helping me actually make this game into something special?

Scar just gave permission to use his Cobra Commander btw.

It doesn't really matter, since the only thing I used him for was to swap out sprites.  Storm Shadow isn't supposed to play like Strider, right now he still has some Strider basic moves and only 2 custom moves.  The plan is to add more custom moves and get rid of anything Strider (except for basic punches and kicks etc, since they use the same sprite base that's unavoidable).

Doing the frankenspriting to get him to this point was very time consuming.  Adding the ninja stars and flying kick was much easier.  So while I do agree that more frankenspriting would make him better, that's going to be a while before I can do that aspect.

Yes, I built him over Kong's Strider.  But I disabled all of Kong's AI and changed it, so he's not overpowered.  I do need to clean up those files.

Good suggestions PrimeOp, I will do my best bro.

I've been dabbling with a GI JOE game for MUGEN.  Acey is going to update his Snake Eyes at some point, but he said I could release my tweaked version (I added sounds, AI, and activated Timber).  I also added sounds and AI to Cobra Commander, my beta Storm Shadow is in there and a couple other chars that have new sound and palettes but haven't been modified yet.
A bunch of stages that have been edited to include GI JOE sprites, etc.

Anyway, you'll be able to see what I'm going for from this beta.  Here's the thing - the Martial Masters project is taking up most of my time, and to take GI JOE to the next level from here is going to be tough for me to do alone.  So I'm putting this beta up for the purpose of hopefully getting a team together to go forward.

Very good suggestions.  I initially was thinking along the lines of adding in new moves/combos etc which isn't such a time suck as sprite editing.  So I'm not saying I'll never add the swords, but just not in the near future as doing these sprites already took up too much time.

But I can't disagree with your suggestions, I think they're spot on.

It's not a light chop, he's throwing stars at point blank range and hitting ol' Snake Eyes.

Gill, since the sprites are edits of Strider sprites, yeah... don't know what to tell you.  Was a big job adding the mask, the chest, the logo, etc.  The whole point of using Strider is because he's so similar to Storm Shadow to begin with -- the arm wrappings, the boots, the uniform.  Makes it easier to frankensprite when the base model is so similar.

Having some Samurai Shodown swords instead of Strider's sword would be cool, but I'm just too busy to add it right now.

It's not a WIP, because there isn't any progress gonna happen ;)

I like Final Fight as much as the next person, but I figure someone passionate like the guys who made Final Fight: Urban Chaos should pick up the ball and run with it.

My eyeballs are still bleeding from ripping sprites for 3 Martial Masters characters in a row.  So essentially, I'm hoping to pawn Edi E. off on someone who will give him the TLC he deserves.
