I've been looking around for a good few hours at some hack or modding sites that may have tools and such for the Street Fighter 3, but the only only mods or hacks I can find seem to be on games like SF4 or Resident Evil 4. Tried searching for CPS3 or 2D fighting game hack forums but to no avial. Could anyone push me in the right direction? Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Do you know any sites where I could learn to do this or (if I'm lucky) see if someone could help me undertake this task. A forum perhaps? Whatever the answer, thanks in advance.

Just found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmOjyB5j0jc&feature=related

It's basically Third Strike but with different special arts and move properties. I'd love to get into this if anyone knew how. It plays exactly like the real game, but tweaked. Exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Here is a video of me playing the real SF3 and then a MUGEN version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXsYSAaaOR4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icO84BVBfSk

The quality drops drastically in the MUGEN version, but in this hack it plays perfectly. If anyone knows any hackers they could refer me to, or a site I would very much appreciate it.

But MUGEN games in my experience never play quite "properly." it seems very fan made which is exactly what I don't want, no matter how good it is it never has the flow and quality of the actual versions of the game. Distorted sound, out of place menu screens, pixelated character select, gameplay delay, random life bars and all the rest of it. Even if it's intended to look just like the actual game it never really quite matches up to an Emulator. Maybe I'm being real fussy but I wanted it to play, sound and look perfectly like the actual game as I was hoping to put it into my arcade cabinet.

I'll look into some more MUGEN games, preferrably SF3 styled games to see how good the quality can be.

But the problem with MUGEN (as far as I know) is you'll have to programme each character and stage and all the rest of it, and everytime I've seen a MUGEN game the mechanics aren't quite right or the select screens are off in some way. What I want is a complete replica of Third Strike that has no difference but with the stages and music of New Generation and Second Impact.

Thanks for the quick reply. Anyone know of someone who has already made such a hack? ^^

I'm not sure if this is in the right section, but it's a question about fighting games so I don't see why not. If it is in the wrong section please let me know.

Either way, what I wanted to know is; If I had an emulator of Street Fighter 3: Third strike, is it in anyway possible to add the stages and soundtracks affiliated with them from Street fighter 3: New Generation and Street Fighter 3: Second Impact into the Third Strike seemlessly, making them accessable from the stage select ect.

Please don't call me an idiot or anything, I don't know anything about editing games. If you have any suggestions or think it's simply not possible, please let me know. : )

Many thanks,

Matthew James.

I'm trying not to lose motivation, I have big plans, and not just for Gouken, it's just I don't feel I can achieve it alone, but seeing as how I'm doing moves (as of now I'm doing crouch and it's looking good to me) I need some ideas for the moves, I have never played Street Fighter IV but I know the moves he has, so if anyone wants to suggest 'cool' ideas for specials or even just supers, please don't suggest focus attacks as I really want it to be more on the SFIII level. But please any move ideas just post them. Matt.

Ahh, it's soo hard. I just don't want to give up on it, if I can get the standing animation down then the rest will be a little easier. :(

I truly suggest no fan characters, they are ALWAYS tacky and messy, I'm no M.U.G.E.N expert but I'm 99% sure pretty much no one will want to play it if it is filled with them. Don't stick in random characters like "Ultimate" Sonic or "Chaos" Sonic, they won't do much purpose, put it this way, characters need to be ballanced among eachother, if one character is strong then another is strong that is ballanced and makes it fair, with a character like Ultimate Sonic just tells me he's gonna have a bunch of moves that are pointless as he will probably just kill the opposition in 3 or 4 basic moves. Joke characters are fine like Dan Hibiki, but only 1, so in your case the Chao? But don't have a million different variations of Chao that do the same thing only look different, if you was going to then just do it if you select the chaos with a different button you get a different colour or style but keep the character and moves the same. If I was making this game my selection of characters will be something like this:-

Sonic
Shadow
Tails
Knuckles
Metal Sonic
Metal Knuckles
Mighty
Espio
Vector
Amy
Rouge
Chao
Dr. Robotnik (in mech but when almost dead mech explodes and he tries to fight back :))

Secret characters
Super Sonic
Super Shadow
Silver
Chaos
Bark

It would be nice to have every character sure, but think how pointless a character like Charmy would be, or them birds in that racing game on the boards (Sonic Riders or something) or Bean and Nack from Sonic fighters. Have every character in there sure, as background characters, or say Vector has a move where he calls in Charmy, or Mighty calls in Ray, but don't have such characters as main fighters. And finally why don't you try to create all new fighting stances or sprites all together as opposed to using existing ones. But this isn't my game, it's yours, so this is just advice. Take it as you will. Matt.

Hi again guys, this may sound really bad but I'm going to need some help, I can sprite the images fine, but I'm finding it impossible to have everything flow perfectly sprite by sprite, and I was wondering if anyone with experience could help me get his standing pose perfect and flow just right, right now it feels impossible and I just want to move onto other things with this project. the biggest problem is I can't animate it, so I don't know how it looks but I've noticed the trousers just won't flow right, and the top is also a strain to get to move right because it's only half the gi. If anyone can help please please do.

Edit:- I was also wondering what you guys think, shall I have him bouncing fast? Just like all the other Hadou characters from SFIII? Or something else? Please give your opinions.

Thanks again, Matt.

Hey guys, I know I'm taking forever, it's just I have alot to do lately and when I do attempt to continue with this project I find myself getting really stressed with how it looks, so far I'm trying to do the standing animation, it's very tedious as it is relatively the same thing over and over again with slight pixel changes, the worst of it all is doing half of his Gi (outfit) on top, and his arms are in different positions so it's not like I can just change the colour of a Ken, Ryu or Akuma sprite. Just for now I have 4 stances all unfinished as I am still unsure if they flow properly, or the pizels move right so can someone please animate it for me.

I am more than willing to start the whole sequence back to the 1st sprite if need be I want this to be as perfect as possible and due to that I don't imagine this character being accomplished anytime soon, but perfection is better than just anything right?
Thanks again guys, Matt.

That Sheng Long had potential, the hair is done nicely, it's a shame there was lack of work done to the rest :/ Just a colour swap, a wrong colour at that, but I do have to commend the hair  :P
