Mr X?? Dude.... Alongside Solid Snake and Rorschach, it looks like you have the same excellent tastes as I do in gaming, movies, and pop culture in general. Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid are top favorites of mine from the PlayStation era. Seeing Mr. X come to life by your hands makes the Gamer in me as giddy as a schoolgirl.

With your polling coming along, does that mean Mr. X will be placed on the backburner?? Hopefully not as he oozes style already. A few suggestions from the hardcore RE2 fan:

I say a super armor attribute would be perfectly fit for him. He moved gracefully, if not a little slow and lumbering. Armor would be perfect.

His basic walking movements should be slower yet his attacks should be fast with limited reach. Remember, his character was meant to be a stalker, so if he got in close he would be a menace. His RE2 rules shouldnt differ from his Mugen rules.

If everyone wants to see his true Tyrant form, I say that should make an appearance as a hyper, similar to what Jill offered in MvC2. Other nods to this can be provided through specials or throws. This would also allow for easier coding. N. Chaos from Melty Blood is a perfect example.

Crouching.... I like the fact that many badass boss characters couldn't crouch, like Shao Kahn, Motaro and Abyss. However, kneeling down would be interesting too, so I say you could go either way here. However, no crouching with armor would be a nice touch....

And thats all I got. It's great to see original work for Mugen from such talent. You are certainly creating a name for yourself Sean. I'm hooked on all of your work!!

And thanks for noticing about the art style Saikoro. it was a huge pain trying to find high res images of KOF characters that weren't done in that semi-realistic style SNK has a boner for. Although Krauser has to use that style because no such "cartoonish" pic exists since he hasn't been in a kof since like what, 98?

No prob E. The problem with SNK art is that the styles change from game to game, so having things match becomes a drag. I have a monstrous compilation roster of about 750+ characters who have resided on my HDD for a good 4 years. Making high resolution portraits for all of them is a challenge as I want the artwork I'm using to be very appealing. So when my "Clueless to Mugen" friends play, they will be like "wow" when they see crisp artwork displayed on screen.

And I'm currently on Portrait number 7!! LOL I'm currently on Capcom VS SNK. When I get to King of Fighters, I'll let you know.

What sources are you using for artwork?? I use Creative Uncut's galleries (many of their pics have decent resolutions and color depths) and Kawaiidream.net (Kawaii has a huge selection). Both sites contain great artwork that's easy to convert for portraits.

Looks promising for being preliminary. As a hardcore fan of Eternal Champions, I'd recommend using the background of the first game with a portrait layout that emulates part two.

I'm positive you would have much better quality image results if you could properly clean up that awful white antialiasing around the outer edges.

Indeed. I would love to see a release as you have a good eye with framing and what you selected for usage. I despise mismatching portraits!! What I would recommend you do is first use the magic eraser to get a solid start. Secondly, erase the remnants of unwanted pixels BEFORE shrinking the portraits down to Mugen standards. Believe me, it saves a ton of time. Here's an example taken from my BrokenMugen thread. I'm pretty sure you utilize the same method I do
 


Both Ryu and Ken are 240x280 with 300 resolution and 16bit color with NO color loss!! I'm kind of a Nazi when it comes to clarity and detail, so each portrait takes 2.5 hours maximum. Up to 4 with lots of hair (Haohmaru, Joe Higashi.... I hate hair....) or details (Shin Akuma's blue flames). But man, are the results worth it!!

Nice job though. Just clean up the un-needed pixels and you're golden.

Another awesome release from the great Sean Altly. I too will not be able to test him out until next Sunday, but I'm not concerned as I'm sure he kicks ass.

And come to think of it, Sean should contact CM and show him what he created. I'm sure CM himself would be proud!!

Lastly, when do we get an actual Sean Altly character?? Eh?!  ;D

Thanks Oxe. I'm very excited to see what Two4Teezee conjures up. Throughout all of our communication, we had the same ideas floating around as our visions were similar. It's going to be great to see what he can do. He is also tweaking some of my additions to be even better. I have to say that its great to be working with him as bM was always my favorite SP that Mugen has to offer. Hence this project!!

@ Saikoro: I really like the work you're putting into this SP. When I was using winmugen, this was my fav SP to use during the time. This is going to blow BROKENcrap HD out of the water. I wish you guys the best of luck! ;D

Much appreciated Cyro!! It's funny you mention that god awful HD attempt that Vyx tried to promote. I remember reading into the original forum posts from scathing forum members. This is why you get PERMISSION from authors. This is why communication is good. There are plenty of great people here on the community, and showing respect through communication is only the right thing to do. Vyx ignored all of this. And his end product felt like rubbish anyway....

Hey there fellow forum goers.

I just wanted to keep everyone up to speed as things have been quiet on my front. Two4Teezee is working on implementing a few fixes as well as a new Victory/Win Quote screen. I've been laying a bit low this week as I had to prep for a College Exam on this past Wednesday. I'm also going to be away this week in Niagara Falls. I will resume a bit of work on my end come the 25th.

In the meantime, here's a snazzy snapshot of what some personally made High Resolution Portraits look like on the new 120 Slot Select Screen. Keep in mind that Ryu and Ken are sized at 240 by 280 resolution with 300 dpi. No color loss!!



Sharp isn't it??

I really like the simple and bold style you have with these. They look completely original while staying very close to their own source material. If BrokenMugen wasn't my SP of choice, I'd have these as my default Lifebars.

I have some custom combo fonts and combo counters that my buddy made for me a few years back in broken Mugen font Will they work for 1.0?

They should as everything converted over with no problems. Just as with any characters .def file, make sure the directories of your fonts are correctly implemented.

The only problem you may have are resolution issues, E.G. your fonts may initially appear too small. If thats the case, a simple edit using PhotoShop along with Font Factory will do the trick.
