The possibility of adjustments has been brought up, but it's also been stated that the goal is to keep the same feel and gameplay as the original. They're working with the original arcade code.

I think it would be nice to bring the bonus stages back, and theoretically, it should be possible. They were in SSF2, and SSF2T actually bases itself on SSF2 code-wise (it uses several of SSF2's romsets), so the coding for the bonus stages should be "compatible" with SSF2T. I have to wonder why they yanked them out in the first place...

And I agree that changing the AI would be nice. Having whatever action you perform be stuffed with the EXACT move needed to out-prioritize it only a frame after you actually press the button gets old pretty fast.

Yeah, the bricks are in the SNES port. I just used them with an arcade Balrog sprite. Interestingly, they almost look more in-scale this way...

IIRC, the SNES ports of WW and Turbo keep the car stage, but drop the other two in favor of the bricks. Then the SNES port of SSF2 simply has the car and barrels and drops the oil drums.

The oil drum stage is so awesome. You can make all sorts of weird glitchy stuff happen when you have two people playing on it.

Actually no, that's a cat that I found on a Japanese photo blog. The two photos of the cat leaping and punching at a toy were labeled "Shoubyouken" (昇猫拳), or "Rising Cat Fist", an obvious play on "Shoryuken" (昇é¾

This day, this topic.

So you're telling me you're pleased with this? Playing/purchasing a game you played in '93, with larger omg graphix?
'94, actually. And what's wrong with giving a classic game a facelift? Classic gameplay + great new graphics = not good?

Quote
Which in itself, is version of a game that came out a year or two prior to that one, which has been released on just about 15 or so different consoles, over the past 14 years? And you're fine with this? This is acceptable?
ST changed the SF2 formula considerably. It was the first Street Fighter game to include super moves, throw teching, and juggles. It was one of the first fighting games ever to have multiple modes for each character. Every character gained moves and/or had moves significantly changed from their SSF2 incarnations.

As I said before, all of the SF2 updates improved and changed the game somewhat. But the SSF2 -> SSF2T jump was likely the most dramatic of them all.

And why shouldn't this be acceptable? ST is a good game. Even if it's been rereleased 1000 times, how does that make the game itself any worse? Does the game's code degrade and age with each copy, or something? Does that mean that in this latest incarnation, Ryu will be all wrinkly and break his hip when he throws a Hadoken? As far as I know, that's not how it works.
Quote
And it's ok for the consumers (me) to bounce up an down, discuss deeply (as if you were gonna get a new game or something), and then shell out MORE of my money on another Street Fighter II product? Either you we'rent around during the original SFII binge, or you're the biggest SF nerd this side of the Milky Way.
Both, I guess. I played SF2WW in arcades, I lived through the franchise's entire history. And I still love it to this day. If this doesn't excite you enough to warant you purchasing it, that's fine, that's your call. No one's forcing you to buy it. But I don't see how taking a classic game, whose gameplay is quality enough that it still gets tournament play worldwide over a decade after its release, and giving it some pretty new graphics is a bad thing in itself.

That just goes to show how after having Street Fighter II shoved down my throat for 10 years does to you. They all are the same, with Turbo having "Supers" and the last 4 newcommers playable. It's still SFII, regardless.

Fucking boring.
Okay, we get it. You don't like SF2. There are many people who do, however. I could take your "they're all the same" comment as an excuse to go into detail on how each of the successive original updates substantially improved the game, but that's for another day and another topic.

I mean really, Hyper fighting, AGAIN? Goddamn, Capcom.
Err... it's not Hyper Fighting. It's Super Turbo. Hyper Fighting = SF2'T = SF2.3. Super Turbo = SF2.5.
not to mention of all the SF saga, 2 is the most retarded one.

Having characters like the FF series, they re-hash the one with all the losers ... Dee Jay, Honda, Blanka ...
That's your opinion. Mine is that SF2's wonderful and encompasses everything that's great about the genre. Later games had fancier graphics and more gimmicks, but SF2 has everything that counts.

And Dee Jay, Honda, and Blanka are losers? :/

Looks pretty nice. I've gotten fed up with doing prites pixel-by-pixel, so I'm going to try and see about drawing stuff as vectors then shrinking/palettizing them, see if it works at all.

They'll essentially be tracing over the old sprites, so it's not like there's much room for them to screw things up. The preview image, even though supposedly not indicative of the final product, looked promising enough to me.

Certainly, especially given the success of HF on Xbox Live, which was a pretty straigtforward port with online capability. This new deal's sure to attract plenty of attention with the spiffy new graphics, so I can't see why they wouldn't keep it Japan only.

Time has no bearing on SF2. SF2 is timeless.

I would like to see sprite rips from this eventually, because I love ST. ;P Maybe a few years down the road...

I love SSF2T, so I'm really looking forward to this. :sugoi:

Zwei_Fuss, SSF2T's gameplay has quite a bit more depth than appears at first glance. After all, it was the first SF to feature supers, throw teching, juggles, and groove/ISM/mode/etc. selection.
