If you look closely at his Darkstalkers animation frames, they do some neat stuff with his aura to emphasize his movements. Probably the clearest examples are his jumping hard punch and jumping hard kick where the aura forms a big arcing trail, but even in other animations it does stuff like flare out a bit from the tip of the attacking limb as it reaches its full extent and such. I definitely think it's worth keeping.

Very nice. I'm liking the subtle movement on the tie and the detail on the cuffs.

Now that you mention it, the same is probably true of Jedah given that his clothes liquefy and morph along with his body. Add in all the characters who don't even make a pretense of wearing clothes, and a large portion of the Darkstalkers cast is naked.

Maybe adding a line to define the soles of the boots would help a bit. Personally I think the way they cling to his legs is fine, his boots have always been like that. Might not be realistic, but that's just how he is.

While we're discussing proportions, I think maybe his forearms could be a little bit thicker. They seem to be a bit thicker in the Efex sprite, and as is those big wrist cuffs he has look like they're weighing down the ends of his forearms a bit.

Looking great! The bit of rotation on his fists works nicely. Here's some more official artwork you might find useful for reference, including some clearer versions of the ones you posted:

I like the concept of having his demon form show through a bit in the idle stance, nice idea JNP.

Hate to sound naggy or bandwagoning, but I also prefer the DS/CFJ sprites and would probably prefer those as a base over the SvC ones. As stated you could still add in the SvC-exclusive things and maybe even take a few cues from them here and there with things like the cape and such, as well as using them as a reference for additional inbetween frames in the animations that have more frames compared to the DS ones (cape sweep comes to mind). Of course, it's your project and in the end its your decision. The stance rough is already looking great, I'm sure the end result will look awesome regardless.

SvC has the bow, the "come here" gesture, and the blazing aura (pose is a little different though, DS has hands on hips, SvC has palms out and curled fingers), but it doesn't have the hair spray or the cape wrap, however it looks like JNP already included those in his post.

I also just remembered DS1/2 has an unused throw animation that's different from the one introduced n DS3 (and converted to SvC), although the concept is the same (toss away after bite):

Here are a few more things the DS spritesets have that SvC lacks:

-Far standing medium punch (basically the same as the hard one, but he isn't stepping/leaning in quite as much in the active portion)
-Close standing hard punch (seems like the SvC crouching hard punch was partially based on this)
-Crouching light/medium punch
-Jumping medium punch
-DS1/2 jumping light kick
-DS3 jumping light kick (pretty much the same as above, but leg is bent and hitting with the knee)
-Demon Blast/Billion launching pose (follows from the transformed frame in the DS1/2 Chaos Flare animation, back arches a bit more, arms and wings flare out a bit more, etc.)
-DS1/2 ES Chaos Flare (similar to the Demon Blast, there's an extra bit of transformed state here where he leans/arches back a bit more when compared to the non-ES version)
-Negative Stolen

Looking good! I asked earlier but didn't get a response so I'll ask again (sorry if I'm coming off as stubborn), but even though you're working from his SvC sprites, do you think you might be able to work in the few things from Darkstalkers those don't cover? Looking at his SvC sheet, it shouldn't be more than a handful of things, most are already there.

Gladly. You'll have to make a separate AIR file and CNS, because you're going to have to get the animation timings in Turbo. It's also going to require a lot of code changes. It's not 100% perfect, so it's not precise... however, it is accurate. It is basically an approximation. The only way to avoid this would be programmatic frameskip, but that is too delicate and it would require a lot more research on my part, not to mention that would be troublesome having to code safeguards for keyframes (frames with attack boxes). If you are fine with losing some precision for the sake of better feel, then this is the way I've found best to do it.

Also on a similar subject, look a few pages back because I've found a way to put characters in a custom state while using their proper gethit animations.
Cool! I'm currently working on fixing his aspect ratio, so it might be a while before I get to the turbo speed yet. Also very interested in learning about this custom state setup.

I think some time back you mentioned something about how to apply turbo speed formulas to characters. Would you be willing to help me with that? My Super Turbo Akuma still isn't very Turbo.

What's your favorite alternate Felicia palette? Mine's the pink-haired, cream-furred, tan-skinned one she's had since DS1.

Demitri. Also, I'll offer to code him if you end up doing his sprites. I think his original Darkstalkers sprites might have a few things that his SvC sprites don't (notably Demon Blast/Demon Billion), would you be able to work those in somehow?

I have a request. I would like someone to make an SF2-style edit of Akuma's F+MP overhead chop from the SF Alpha series for use in my Akuma's Custom mode.

SF2 Ryu F+MP

SFA Ryu F+MP

SFA Akuma F+MP

As you can see, the first three frames of the chop animation correspond to Ryu's overhead punch, which already exists in SF2. Those frames will just need to have the head replaced, the torn sleeves and pants, sandals, and beads added, and the arm repositioned. The final two frames will need to be be heavily edited/made from scratch. Although the last frame of the SF2 Ryu overhead punch should come in handy as reference since the pose isn't all that different.

My Akuma has his full SF2 sprite set for reference.
