Um modo história seria uma questão de ajustarem o código existente pra meterem o tipo de animações que já existem prás intros e finais também entre combates e customizar a ordem dessas coisas - mas devem estar a dar prioridade a detalhes do combate mesmo, o que é compreeensível.

This is almost funny considering Titiln was admin because Iced gave him the position on request. He wanted it once, got it, doesn't want it anymore, the circle's closed.

The writer of Battle Royale got the idea when he was on an airplane between New York and Tokyo, and looked out the window, saw a cloud, and thought it looked like a turtle flying in the sky, so he ran back to his office and wrote up the first draft of Battle Royale.

Odd, I recall the preface to the book spending quite a bit of time on wrestling references ,but maybe those were just an inspiration for the title.

At least battle royale is profiting from the hunger games, with the legal release on the usa and decent disc sales.
Apparently some stores have the Battle Royale novel right by The Hunger Games, with stickers or something saying "the original teen death battle". (I would say The Lord of The Flies holds that distinctions but whatever)

Wasn't the LotF setting all boys and the murder spontaneous instead of mandated?...
The dynamics are considerably different then. The HG concept is less interesting to me since there are sort of pre-built alliances of 2 with everyone else being strangers, while in BR the situation heavily magnifies relationships and attitudes that are already there. You couldn't get a scene like BR's lighthouse sequence in HG, and

I'd have posted this and more in the review thread, but that thing's too long and I don't feel like reading through all of it before posting.

Your time is probably best spent with John Carter of Mars - its origin shows its age, but it's masterfully executed and generally a fun ride.

Spoiler: MIGHT RUIN IT FOR LOONA??? (click to see content)

Weirdness is expected and Hussie messes with expectation a lot, but I haven't been aware of any recent wave of detractors...
No flash animations since my last reading session, but I'd say the pacing has improved a lot now that the trolls are being introduced, even if the story no longer has to bother introducing all the game mechanics, it's doing a great job of handling a larger number of characters, even if it's yet to go through all of them.

The handling of Equius was particularly good - first it's all "oh man, this guy's an ass, let's not deal with him", then it makes him all chaste-focused, yet kinda mellowed out by Nepeta, and that factor of his borders on some twisted self-hate which kinda bubbles when dealing with Gamzee and (for the time being for me) peaks with his meeting with Aradia (holy shit that scene...).
Terezi still seems like an ass, but a more ethical ass, which kinda seems easier with Vriska around.

I'm getting kinda interested to see how the grimAuxiliatrix one is getting introduced - her chatting/trolling has seemed almost autistic, considering how she seems to dissect every interaction verbally, and for some reason almost all of her recent illustrations have her wielding a chainsaw for no apparent reason - I guess that'll be her weapon type ("chainsawkind"?), but those seems seem kinda random.

I forget if it got explained at this point in time, but every time Dave manipulates time, he breaks off alternate timelines, and each of those extra Daves will eventually get offed somehow, so it's highly possible that either Jack could kill all the Daves off all at once, or others intervene (ie: Diamonds Droog).

I don't think that was covered in such detail but doens't surprise me.

what does surprise me is how soon another recap came up, but then again, the latest animation was quite eventful: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=003888

Please sell your cool older franchises that haven't had a game in ages to other companies so they'll actually do something with them. Pleeeeaaaaaasssseeeeee.

Just letting Bombergames release an HD version of SoR Remake would be enough for me.

I wonder if they'll see VF as an IP worth keeping around if DoA5 does well, with its 3 characters from that series - between that and Tecmo de-emphasizing their series sex appeal, I'm at least considering rewarding them with my cash.

I guess that's the end of Homestuck.

Whatever happens, as I'm yet to reach current chapters, Hussie isn't above being so meta that he'd use April Fools expectations to keep people wondering about canon.

Ended act 4 last night - how come Jack Noir is supposed to be such a big threat if Strider Kamina Dave's Bro can fight him to a standstill or something? Wouldn't handling him then just be a matter of messing around with time to have a bunch of them simultaneously taking on the guy?

Also came across the time paradox baby clones of the guardians - kinda surprised that John's dad isn't one of them, replaced by the Nanna - I wonder  if he still manages to play a relevant role later on. That scene of him holding hand with Rose's mom was interesting. Also, I get the feeling only Rose sees any passive-aggressive antogonism between the 2 of them, taken at face value and given everything else shown so far, that mom's been remarkably loving and protecting, even  despite the constant booze - and some foreknowledge implied by the guardian paradox clone thing just seems to add to that...

Finally reached a point when troll text and occasional images are occasionally covered. The female one with red shades just threathened John in a pretty big way I'm not sure long time reader still remember, but considering they've been implying time's flowing the opposite way for them, I get the feeling this will not end well further down the line for the boy.

Leaves The Hermit, The Star, The Moon, The Hanged Man, and The Chariot unaccounted for. You could possibly apply them to the Exiles as there are five of 'em, but I don't think they match up too well.

Can't really comment on the trolls as I haven't reached their chapters yet, but I have caught a glipse of one of them hung by his wrists with handcuff that look like the Gemini symbol...

Still, as for the exiles, of which I've only seen 3 yet, I could see the "postwoman" one being The Chariot (transportation, carrying things toward their destination) and perhaps the sniper guy at the top of the tower as The Hermit, as I'm yet to see him leave his spot - his Judge-Dredd-like thoughts on being the Law have something of Judgement to them. WV's mayor fantasies of being the center of someone else's world could be something of a Star thing, but with that being such a delusional notion, could be Moon too (as the moon only reflects light, has none of its own). Things should clear up as I move further into this.

Wait a second, where's The Tower (usually a symbol of a major effort going very very wrong)? Sniper exile guy could fit there maybe?

Got nothing for Post-Scratch tho

Maybe it resets then - the funny thing about extracting a narrative out of the major arcana is that The Fool is both the bigenning and end of it all (though possibly with very different meanings at each end - at the beginning it's plain ignorance and action despite it, while the end may imply behaviour that seems foolish, but which may be derived of a clearer understand of things after perceiving The World as it is). Then again, not idea if any character, especially John, makes it in some form past that stage of the story...

Edit: dumb ol' me, it's 22 major arcana, not 21, no wonder The Tower was missing.
while I'm at it, the official forums have something on it, but I'm not convinced of most of their suggestions: http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?31592-Homestuck-Tarot-Cards

I'm probably seeing way too much into this, especially considering there seem to be no other 48 kids, or actual characters for that matter to whom such a pattern could apply.

Gah, I got the numbers confused - the number of major arcana is 21, not 52 - I'm almost sure the comic has that many characters in total, at least - it seems possible to get some far-fetched associations between those and more characters, but that'd be really forcing it at this point.

I hope there's more of John's dad later on, his scenes scenes have a crazy yet contained feel to them that seems to work well, I hope he lmanages to stick around - it's pretty surprising to see what he survived and how so far, at least.

Started on Homestuck the other day and now I'm halfway into the intermission tidbit after act 3 where the card-themed gangsters and dealing with the green billiards-themed gangsters with time-based skills - I haven't read Problem Sleuth, but this part sounds like something that might fit in that one... I'm not expcted to read that too to make sense of future events, if this part is even relevant later on, am I.
With what I do know of Homestuck, some messing around with timelines is kinda expected, so the time-manipulation skills of these antagonists seems like they may not be completely irrelevant to the bigger picture...

Give where I am in the plot, I'm yet to come across the troll characters directly, but I'd be surprised if the actual troll shennanigans manage to top the shennanigans between Rose and her mom, that's shit gets pretty insane
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

With all the pics of the trolls wearing zodiac signs (and having their Pesterchum handles using similar associations), I got the slight impression the decoration around the kids' houses might be going for an alternate pattern - John had harlequins and Rose magicians, and that briefly reminded me of the first major arcana in tarot, The Fool and The Magician - but then the other kids' didn't follow things so directly, although they had sort of recurring elements that applied to them too (only one (mostly) adult figure in their lives with whom they have a strange relationship, and more or less recurring decoration elements around their houses - although less-consistently so for Jade) - the closest I could see to a continuation of that hypothetical pattern is seeing the puppets at Dave's as The Hanged Man, and the huge variety and lots of actual Earth globes at Jade's as The World (which would be kinda fitting, as she seems to be a really big deal in the plot).
I'm probably seeing way too much into this, especially considering there seem to be no other 48 kids, or actual characters for that matter to whom such a pattern could apply.

Still, it's looking interesting, even if part of the charm's probably derived from how simple stuff looks most of the time to then impresses later on with huge animations with music, along with intriguing text and cryptic stuff everywhere.

"House of Flying Daggers" and "Hero" (with Jet Li) are visually incredible at times (the former especially by the end, and the latter's use of color along with generally great coreography), worth a watch.

I liked KoF XI's approach of having a power bar and a skill bar, with the skill bar being used mostly for special cancels, and especially due to the fact that cancelling a guard with a roll or a CD attack no longer consumed the same kind of bar that let you use supers.

With that in mind, might as well have separate bars for defensive and offensive skills, but with some small passive bonus of the bars aren't being used at all, in case the player doesn't know about or can't use the commands that consume the bar - for example, the classic KoF mechanic  (early games, 94 to 96) of  having it making you stronger once it's full, although the damage bonus should be much smaller if that isn't being used as a super - and something equivalent for defense and a bar for defensive skills.

Something not actually translated into bars but which comes to mind is what was said in an older thread here about breakers, how the longer a character spends without attacking, the stronger the next attack will be - the GUI gives no indication of that, but it seems simple enough to make it more visible via bar.

Final Fantasy XI - played that regularly for about 4 years

Dissidia - hundreds of hours on that one as well, almost a couple of years on that one almost every week

Streets of Rage 2 - maybe not as many hours as the ones above, but I find myself going back to it for a complete playthrough every once in a while

KoF XIII - been trying to get some playtime on it every day, it already amounts to over 150 hours and I intend to keep going.

UMvC3 thread is huge so I'm not reading all of it and this fits here fine anyway:

http://romancancel.blogspot.com/2012/03/kusoru-wins-umvc3-at-final-round-xv.html

Basically an article on Kusoru, his victory in UMvC3 and japanese views on games like marvel, interesting read all around.

The KoF matches on sunday were great. I also didn't expect in the middle of all of those HD mode combos to find a situation where a couple of players would spend about half a minute just cancelling each other's projectiles with Kyo (one of the guys was a Steve H, I think? Went Kyo/Terry/Ryo in his games), which looked comparatively noobish but amusing.

Things are looking up for KoF's tournament future, I hope that MLG/NCR split thing won't be too big an issue, and that the attendance at EVO will surpass all expectations.

Glad to see SF's Alex doing well, and Go Hibiki making the poll and doing better than most. Low votes for Oro make me sad though - almost compensated by Rufus being practically last. I hope Makoto makes it despite her current results, her moves would fit great, with the possible exception of Fukiage, since practically nobody jumps in Tekken.

Combot could use a return, he's the Namco mimic with the best name.
