I mean they couldn't give us any. There is no point in saying "Here is a quadratic equation, this is how you do them, now do 100 of them" Not a single real world application was provided. Not even an example of the industry you might want the damn things in. Nothing. Utterly useless. This in a class i could not DROP until i turned 17. Yes, i am a bit jaded. Maybe other people had awesome math classes. I did not, they sucked. Badly.

At least in physics when i learnt about torque (something else i haven't used) you got an actual example of what it did and could in fact apply it to what you were doing. This was one of the few weird mathematical things i picked up first try.

Maybe in YOUR schools, they sure as fuck weren't in mine. You know what would have been useful? Compound interest. Working out the dividends from shares. Explaining our PAYE tax system would have been mathematically useful as well even if the math isn't complex.

You know what wasn't useful? Quadratic equations, and for that matter, reverse quadratic equations. They couldn't even supply a real world situation for these. Nor could they do so for algebra. Trig they managed it. Mostly though you can get through life with plus, minus, divide and multiply.

Like i say, if it was not for mugen i would never have used some of the more complicated stuff from college.

I always hated math. I would have dropped it when i was 12 if it had been an option (it wasn't). Since leaving college, if i had not been involved in mugen i would NEVER have touched trigonometry at all. I used pythagoras once, and once only. I have never yet used quadratic equations, they've been 100% useless and we spent months on the fuckers.

Math in school is fine if it gets practical applications. It didn't. Learn this shit by rote, it will never be useful in your life.

Even though a decent amount of mugen contains algebra the way i was taught it was pretty much bullshit and mugen's methodology for it has been far more understandable to me. (yes i had shit math teachers)

You wouldn't get a response. If the answer did not directly relate (and i mean, you didn't give him the code he wanted) he simply wouldn't respond, or would respond with the equivalent of "how do i shot web" over and over.

If you gave him an answer like "this is in KFM and you can copy from there, have a look at state X" he would come back with "can you post the code" it drove me nuts after 3 months or so.

The war on boobs continues.

I don't know. I have no fascination with big boobs, or small boobs, or perfectly sized boobs. Boobs are boobs. Some men love giant ones, others don't.

I'm meant to pass this on soon right? @Neocide: can have it

What is the best Offspring album and why is it Smash?
Actually, i rather like American cos that's what got me into them.

- what got you into archery?
 - people always are saying things like "oh, a boxing glove arrow simply isn't possible, due to drag and such, but that's all a load of bunk, right? right.
 - why is Vice so cool?
General interest in fantasy novels. Nothing really specific.
A boxing glove arrow would be totally impossible. Too heavy. there are certain solid point arrows designed for concussing the target but you get that with a wider and muffled point. Nothing nearly as big as a boxing glove, you'd be lucky if it went 10 meters.
She's slightly nuts, has short hair and big tits. IIRC her bio has her liking comics as well.

How's life been for you as of late?
Put cat down, bad. Got new cat, he's still twitchy.

What character captivated you in your early days of mugen that made you want to say "Shit, this has potential, I'm getting on this train!"?

Top 3~5 favorite mugen characters of other creators?

What's the one of your creations you're the most proud of?

I was a DBZ idiot in the early days. Hyper Dimension captivated me and nobody had made a decent SSJ3 Gotenks. I think he's probably still one of the best out there actually.

I still love a couple of the REALLY old creations but i don't think i can truly list 5. When i played i liked
Kirby by DiGi Jared
Donkey Kong by Infiinma
Knuckles by Ssonic
I do have respect for anyone who cares about what they create and really takes their time over it to make sure it's good. Anyone templating out character after character without giving them any actual character not so much. And it's pretty obvious when people haven't done so.

This should be obvious. Omega Red. Without a doubt. He was the single most challenging thing i have ever made in mugen and part of me dropping off a bit is because i can't actually think of another challenge to match. Helping Bane84 out with Mario 1-1 was interesting too. I was in fact meant to go back and fix up the blocks so they didn't make you jitter as you walk. I did not do this but the how is still in my head.

For that Shuma sprite, actually Graphicus did the outlines and veins, i just shaded. It's mostly capcom although it could possibly do with a bit of work. My standards for sprites are rather high and if something doesn't meet them i won't do it. This is why i haven't expanded SBME yet, not enough decent stuff.

When did you start getting into coding?

Have you gone to school for coding? (been curious about that)

What games are you playing these days if any?

What is your favorite show as of late?
Mugen wise i started coding about 3 months after i found the game

Nope, not at all, tbh i can only really do anything in mugen although i can read powershell VBS and standard batch scripts i have trouble writing anything.

Mostly online flash stuff to be honest. I'm at www.kongregate.com for most of my games. Free, lasts a week, onto the next one.

Favourite show... there is little on TV here i really want to watch. Probably the thing i watch most reliably is Mythbusters. We have too much "reality" tv so i mostly watch nothing.

Are you as lethal as your username suggests??

Favorite M.U.G.E.N stage?

Favorite musician in any genre and why?

Best anime/manga in your opinion?

Any hope, even a shread for a Rival Schools 3??

Asura vs Nariko vs Kratos; who wins and why?

If you're good in digital art, any tips you can give??
Probably with a bow, i could hit you from 90 meters off, but i can't say where as my aim isn't that brilliant

Don't have one really. Falls from LB2 is nice though.

My favourite band is the Offspring, i just like the music although their more recent stuff is sounding a bit samey with every other band in the same genre right now.

I don't really read manga, i'm torturing myself with Bleach right now, i wish i wasn't, it's terrible. Anime i'm not watching either, i like it, but don't spend heaps of time on it. The closest you'd get is DBZ abridged.

Having not played 1 or 2 i can't say a thing about 3.

Who vs Who vs kratos? That should give you some idea.

Not digital but i'm pretty fair sketching. Digital drawings i can do, but they take me HOURS and there are no tips i could give other than practice.

Have you ever once thought of changing your avatar?

What made you decide to become a MUGEN philanthropist?

Do you pronounce Red XIII's name 'RED X-I-I-I' or Red 13?

Do you find it offensive that Red XIII appropriates Native American culture when he is an animal?
This is my 5th. I dont' change it much cos what's the point.

It's a hobby and i have friends here, although a large number no longer really post.

I don't, he's just Red. To avoid further questions on this. I picked a RedXIII avatar years ago on a forum called Nitetek for no other reason than i liked the image. I didn't even know who he was at that point. I have generally stuck with him in some form cos the image suits who i am a bit. I don't change it often because i don't want to. I see no reason to change your avatar over and over again. Also the effects are amusing now that some people replaying the game have to rename Red as Cyanide.

Quote
So, have you thought about where to go, creation wise, now that Omega Red is accomplished?
Well, i did Shuma pretty soon after that. Currently i am very very slowly working on Qbee. To explain the slowness, i started 10 months ago. I haven't even done the SFF. In fact i have barely paletted all the sprites. That's how slow it's going.

Favorite flash game?

Snooker or Archery?
Ugh, that's more difficult than i want it to be. Kryten from series 2. Backwards from series 3 or Justice from series 4.

Without looking where either of these land year wise, i'm hoping there is one in each camp. Swat Kats and The Botsmaster.

Can jason climb? I find the tallest tree and climb to the top snapping off the lighter branches below me.

You? I haven't played a human online for ages.

Flash game... Hmm, probably the best one is a Tower Defence called Kingdom Rush. They put so much effort in. The sequel was almost as good.

Have to say i prefer snooker but that's probably because i've been playing it longer.

I have no concept of male beauty so i have no clue. You'd like me at the moment for i have grown a beard, probably will not keep it though.

Career, i figure my next would have to be something completely different, i don't see myself rising too high in the current one. I'm good at it, i just don't have the drive to become awesome. Marriage right now is a no. I'm not adverse to kids but i'm not driven to have them either.

I don't drink. Does coke count as a poison?

Who is best mugenite?
The best archer i've read about in fiction was from the Belgariad by david eddings called Lelldorin, he was a bit ridiculous. You don't normally hear about the bad archers.

Arrows, absolutely. Bow not so much, i don't really know how to braid flax or whatever to make a string.

Who is putting the most effort into their work right now? Whoever that person is.

I would quite like to learn to shoot a rifle. Although i maintain an axe is the best weapon for zombie stoppage as it doesn't run out of bullets. Being able to headshot a few from a decent distance would be handy.

Yeah, went through that in college. Courses were limited as fuck though.

I don't have a favourite right now. I have been messing round with Warhammer 40k instead which is played with physical stuff on a table.

I think i've answered all the Red stuff now.

Re: Who was the very first mugen creator to release a character to the community?

Thanks to the fact that FF3 has a very customisable sctrls list i use it for coding. Need a leaping attack? I double click the one i have pre-coded and tack some numbers in, KoF velocity slow down? Double click, change some numbers. 90% of the sctrls are set up with their most common features for their most common uses. At the same time, all the additional parameters are listed in order of how likely i am to need them. If i don't need them i can just delete from a point down. I have a simple [statedef ] etc etc set up for when i need a new state.

If i need to edit something quick though or simply check a bit of code, basic notepad is loaded up cos i don't need to see the rest.

The best of the lot before FF came out was MEE. MCM 1.5 and lower was good at SFF files. I used MCM 2.0 for SND because TheRancid's SNDsGood stopped working altogether for me.

I tried mugenerator ONCE. I loaded up an early Broli by necromancer. I changed the size of a clsn1. Nothing else, just a clsn1. Saved. Somehow this turned into Broli + a helper of broli at half scale bound up and left, and ANOTHER helper from there, up and left, i still don't know how the tool did that.

MCM's air editing was ick too as no clsndefaults. MEE's clsn editing was acceptable but not great as you had to save every frame you did.

SFF's weren't so bad. Nor were SND files. Air files however were MISERY. There was nothing good about creating an air file.

Code was code, you copy pasted more than now but that's about all that was hard there.

You mean beside KFM who was originally released with mugen right? Given this was possibly in the year 1999. Bia, Rolento, XGargoyle, [E].

Can't think of anyone else from that early who is still active. I sure as heck don't know. 2000,01,01 was well established when i joined and there was rather a lot of stuff out at that point.

Actually, the BG is zooming in that too. Or i'm seeing an optical illusion. Still, 1.1 has been out with zoom for ages, perhaps the sctrl existed that far back and nobody actually bothered to tell people.

That wasn't because of mugen. That was because of "using our IP that we might want to use except we're not sure yet although we could still do it" They could have continued if they'd head swapped everyone and renamed them to things like eddy cruger and jayzon. Err, probably.

Just about every full game i've seen involving a "team" degenerates very quickly as 2 people pull their weight while the rest slack off. The 2 people pulling however have differing ideas and don't want to compromise. It all goes to hell. Regularly. A full game could potentially be 3 people

Spriter
Coder
Stages/Screenpack

With one of those 3 in charge (probably the spriter) Beyond that point people start being terrible. Seen it over and over. In fact, most of the failed "full games" in the WIP forum are from teams.

Cancel if you like. If you announce though and decide to cancel, please don't use the "my computer died and i had to reformat" one. There are plenty of ways to get data off a disk if all that's happened is the OS is dead. Using this excuse is WAY too common.

Be honest, say you got bored or whatever.

Disks die in this community, often to the same person, far too frequently.

It may have died down each time, but it also gets BIGGER each time. Look at this one in comparison to trayvon. You had people rioting in the streets over this (not the best thing to do but it happened) and the police escalated in an unjustifiable manner. This time round, something at a higher level will happen than last time. The whole police dept being stood down is a start, that certainly wouldn't have happened even 10 years ago.

The younger generation is going to change things. But the older generation still has their hands on the reins (look at the ages of all your people in senate, yeesh) and young people don't get much of a look in. Heck, america doesn't even seem to like voting for young guys to be president, Obama was some kind of a fluke.

Racism will mostly be gone in i would say... 60 years, when most of the people who were somewhat involved in actively pursuing it, even covertly like giving jobs to a white over a black, will be dead.

The places it's harder to stamp out are those where it's actively taught. That process is far slower, because these people are fucking dumb in the first place. The only way that aspect breaks is when one of the children being taught has something happen that shows them their parents were wrong and they have no way to deny it. This happens on both sides, on the white side it's about power, on the black it's about resentment. Still taught, still an issue, won't vanish as fast as the mainstream version, despite being less covert.

The actions in missouri are the covert ones, but with social media now it becomes WAY harder to hide that sort of thing as there are almost always people carrying a camera with them now. 20 years ago the cops would have utterly gotten away with it. Now, not a chance, something is going to happen.

There is no tutorial for that because the first step is understanding it. Short of putting your name on it after copy pasting everything you would not make a character that even slightly felt similar via a tutorial for this.

Jumping into it is absolutely an awesome way to start, but trying for a tutorial for a STYLE won't work unless you understand the code underneath so you can modify it correctly. There is no point using something of warusakis if you don't know how to change the projectile so it does 2 hits and doesn't explode on contact for example.

A tutorial for creating power bars does exist i believe but these always look shoehorned in to me.

Tutorial to code something in cvs style is to first learn to code, as you improve you can add cvs features. Even if you copy paste these from other characters, it's OK as long as they actually make sense so you can change them to fit your character.
