Any update on the progress? I'll love to know when to expect proximate release date :)

My apologies for leaving you guys in the dark, academics were stunting any progress on Orochi K'. Fortunately, I have a month of free time to work on him and I have just continued yesterday. I will start a thread on his progress to keep you guys up to date later this week.

It it just me or is there a some misalignment between last frame of the intro and first frame of regular fighting stance? Seems to me a bit unnatural, apart from that I must say this project got my attention! Hope it will be released soon! :)

There is a misalignment, I used a couple posadds to produce a shaking effect throughout K's animation in the intro and it may have thrown him off after it finishes. I will fix that

Well you can PM me the sprites that need to be recolored and a reference sprite so i can get the hue right
I'm curious to this intro idea you have

The recoloring won't be necessary anymore, I've just acquired all the XIII  K' sprites in blue hue now. I will replace them now.

I was thinking of an intro of regular K' transitioning from red flame into a blue orochi flame trnasformation. I'm going to work on that and give you guys a preview some time.

Really?  :shocked2: I didn't recognize you. Once I hit the next stage with him I'll start testing. Right now, other than those new moves....meh, he's pretty crappy.

Yes, like Genesis say, you can just recolor the fire to blue. Doesn't need to find another sprite to change it

Oh that is interesting, I know there are some comics out there like KoF Zillion who added some extra chars etc. but I did not know there exist one with a orochi K in it, do you have a pic of the pannel or something like that, I would realy like to see how this orochi K looks in the comics.

This one is the cover of final issue of the comic, we have Iori on above, Kyo and Ash, and the last one is the Orochi K'. You all can see his face clear from this


So, as you all can see, K' appearance is actually different when Orochi possessed him. He has a skull tattoo all over his body and his face. His hair also has rise up. Pretty much like Soiree Meira hair...or we can say that K' has gone Super Saiyan LOL  :laugh3:

Sorry, I can't find the image where he perform his fire. I have read this comic, that why I know he has a blue flame when he was in this form.

I can definitely make his flames blue then, gives me an idea for a good intro too. I'll probably post pics of some examples soon.

I think a different walk animation could match this character version better, it just doesn't seem to fit him anymore.

...Somehow, I think having Rugal's walking animation (Omega form, btw.. unless both normal and Omega in 98 and 2002 share the same walking animation) kinda fits for this K'. Either that, or Ash's walking animation (Only instead of one of his hands on his hip, it's in his pocket instead).

Otherwise, this edit looks like lots of fun to play with (And admittingly better than the other crappy KOF Flashy edits out there). Hope to see more soon.


The sprites I have of him right now were provided to me by a friend. A better walk animation like an Ash animation (w/hand in pocket) would be nice, along with more orochi adaptations, but I have no experience in sprite making.


I don't know, if I find some blue XIII sprites of K's flames I will probably try and do that.
It's just fairly simple (and somewhat tedious) recoloring.
Need help with that?

Actually a few effects of his would benefit from recolors (seem clashy overall as they are imo)

I believe I actually found a set of Blue XIII flames for him, but the rest of the Orochi effects do need some recoloring since they're all over the place. Some help would be much appreciated

Mh I'm normaly not a fan of all the Orochi edits out there, but this is one of the rare exceptions, it looks realy good.

I always want to see a fusion between K' and Orochi. This look awesome!

Are you gonna change his fire color to blue? Orochi K' does actually exist, however only in KOF manhua, the comic book from Hong Kong. His fire color change to blue when Orochi possessed him.

I don't know, if I find some blue XIII sprites of K's flames I will probably try and do that.

This looks fantastic! How's the AI going to look? Also, if it's at all possible i think all of the sounds that include his voice, should be altered it's kinda weird to hear him talk like a demon, but his grunts are still regular.

also can't wait for the release of this, it just looks toooo sweet to pass up

The AI I am going to do last, I am not very good with AI so it is a low priority right now.

I know what you mean about the voice alterations, they are there to show Orochi flaring up inside K' as he musters up his godly power. But I will change more of his voice files to maintain a consistency.

Just remove that last bit from the SDM and make the One Inch be the last hit and it's good. Leave that fancy multi-K' nonsense to the HSDM(s). :)

I'll put the multi K' for one of my HSDM's then...But I'll at least leave the final heatdrive, for a good finish.

i'm nothing like how i started either. that's the result of toying around.

i have ideas for that part of the intro. nothing solid yet tho.

you could use this in place of the orochi disk. it was inspired by 608 so it'll definitely mesh. and tho i didn't use it that way it has the shattering after effect.

and yes i showed 608 the video. that was his reply.

Throw any ideas you want to me, because I sure as hell don't know anything about making Orochi chars.

That effect can definitely work, it just needs to be adapted to the Orochi palette. I'll also use that Orochi symbol that 608 made in one of his effects for the center if they are compatible with each other, and it'll be near perfect.

And 608 liked my K'? Well dang...that's cool.

-i'd probably do away with the beam on the intro.
-bind an additive particle to the middle of the black orb in the intro (like mizuchi type m's orbs)

- Yes I have been using freqmul in my playsnd controllers, to provide a bit of variance in sfx and also in supers to get the right mix of sounds
- The voice edits are just two clips of the same K' voice with one being at a lower pitch, I will be doing this for other clips later on.
- The taunt sprites with the symbol flare was simple, but I was going to add a little bit more to it. Perhaps a surge of plasma, or energy perhaps?

- The intro is supposed to be K' being posessed, or "assimilated" by orochi if you will. The beam is representing the emission of Orochi's power through K'. If there are better effects instead of the beam that would do just as good at my disposal, I will try to find them.
- There is an additive particle on the ball, it consists of the Orochi symbol in the center and a static particle surounding it, with small particles trailing off of it.
- I'm still going to dampen the damaging and combos when it's all done a little, but just so you guys know this version is supposed to be a boss character, so he does more damage.
- I know there are low-res things, like the orochi disk. But believe me, if I could find those things in hi-res I would use them.

And thanks, amazing how much has happened since when I first started. And is 608 referring to one of my K' chars?  :o

He certainly seems to have that flair True K' had, but try shortening that SDM just a tad. It looked like a lvl 3 or something. :P

Percentage? I wouldn't really say exactly, but probably about 40% or so done. And if all of his progress seems integrally sound, I will most likely release a beta of some sort.

I agree, this actually looks amazing. Normally instinct would tell one to avoid Orochi (insert name here) characters, but this actually looks really polished as well as fairly balanced.

Is that the complete moveset (as far as special moves) you have shown in the video? It looks pretty good already, but perhaps one more orochi inspired special may prove to be nice.  :)

Anyways, i'll be watching this project.

Thanks, I really wanted to avoid the typical Orochi edit char that everyone else does, I haven't really seen too many that don't try to copy being a stupid Orochi Iori mimick.

His moveset for his specials isn't quite done actually, I was also planning a sort of Orochi teleport special as well as change some of his original specials to more orochi-like moves, and other stuff as I go along.

Sorry for such a long wait, been busy with life n' stuff. But here is a little video of my progress of Orochi K' so far guys, requested by a friend. I'm limited on Orochi adapted K' sprites, so don't expect too much of that. But I promise you it will be pretty good. If anyone would like to help me out on said sprites or whatever, give a shout.

So far:

- basic, special, grab, and super attacks with complete XIII hitsparks/supersparks
- K' voice snd, XIII snds, various sfx put together myself
- XIII flame effects, orochi effects and various 608 effects
- 2 DMs and 1 SDM right now

Note:
This char will not be XIII accurate, so don't particularly expect all of the XIII perks to be applied to him (hyperdrive mode, whatever...).

It's kind of more compicated than just on forum actually, I've been trying to set up a gif I made and upload it as such with the whole animation and everything. But whenever I do I can't put it on the forum or anywhere as a gif (I use mediafire for online storage if your wondering), it either doesn't show as a pic, instead as a url, or just shows up as a stil jpg. Can anyone give me any pointers as to how they got their gif images in their signatures and avatars right, cuz I sure as hell can't figure it out.
