Ok, so the story is I have all my stages with mp3 tracks to follow. However, it seems as if character effects seem to dominate each match, and the mp3 doesn't stand out. What settings could I use to change this? Do you understand what I mean??? Thanks!

Ok, so I downloaded DoorHenge's "Marvel vs. Capcom" screenpack. But there is no select.def file, and it is also missing the system.def file, I believe. How am I supposed to get it to function properly?


Also, I'm having a small issue with Arcade mode. I took 10 characters and gave them an order from 1-10.

ex. mbison, stages/shinmb.def, order=10

And the MaxMatches setup is 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1,. But I always have 2 randoms show up before the order 3 character, and then I usually don't get all 10 matches. What's up with that? Thanks...

EDIT: One last thing. I want to add Etrigan, Bishop, and Lex Luthor to my characters roster. However, their portraits are just too huge and they overlap the select screen boxes. How do I fix this?

Ok, so I have about 120 characters currently in use but I could easily add about 50-100 more. Anyone have any screenpack ideas for me? I'm looking for something that looks stylish and yet has the slots. I'm currently using the Battle Royal pack by EXShadow, and its bloody wicked. Just tell me the name if you can, and I'll go from there :)

EDIT: Looking for around 160-200 slots.

So I'm planning to buy a USB joypad to use for my XP Mugen. A few questions...

1. Assuming I get the joypad, how would I get it to work with Mugen?
2. Any joypads you can recommend?
3. Any joypads that don't work with Mugen?

Keep in mind I don't want to spend more than $30 on a joypad, but I might be willing to go higher if there is one that gives great results. Thanks.

Ok, so here's the situation: I like Magus' Iron-Man ALOT. But I like the protrait Erradicator's Iron-Man has more. I'd like to switch them both, and many years ago I used to sort of know how to. I recall using MCM to save the portrait as a .pcx file and then switch it, but I've totally forgotten everything. Can anyone give me a step-by-step, please? Many thanks.

Given that this is all free, I believe Mugen should encourage such creativity. Honestly, do you very best to make Kratos if you can, I think he'd be a very unqiue addition to Mugen regardless of the quality. Just try your best.

EDIT: I'd go with the left, simply because Kratos is a big beast of a character. The right stance makes him look smaller, and he's supposed to be a lumbering Olympian.

I've been out of Mugen for many years now, and I only recently got back in. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST THREAD, I'm just curious :) So, which characters are widely and generally regarded as being made of the best quality? I'm very curious because I noticed that there were Mugen awards for 2008, and I've been out of the picture since '04. Eek. A few characters that have caught my attention lately, for example:

Ryu by DG
Iron-Man by Magus
Tetsu Yatogi by Big Eli King
Cammy by POTS

Consider this more of a helping-me-catch-up thread :)

There is a chance the file may have a "Windows NT Script" name attached to it. If yes, just right-click on it and select edit :)

It sometimes happens when...

1. I lose in Survival mode and then try to re-start it. It happens right when I choose "single" for the opponents
2. Happens when I lose in Arcade sometimes and try to continue with a different character

And one unrelated error that's weird...

Mugen will ALWAYS crash when I select any mode using "Q"...which is light kick for me. Weird.

What does this error mean: "Assert failure in charsel.c line 3162"? It happens once in a while, thankfully not often.

Yeah, you can play pretty much any mp3. Here's what you do...

1. Make sure your Mugen has the "in_mp3.dll" file in the plugins folder, and make sure it is activated. This is done by typing "plugin = plugins/in_mp3.dll, mp3" in the necessary space in the Mugen.cfg file (or it might be the system.def file, I always confuse the 2).

2. Once #1 is done, you do the following. Copy whicever mp3 you want into the "sound" folder. Open up Mugen.cfg and find the [Music] section. Next to where it has sections for playing music at the title screen and select screen, just type "sound/songname.mp3"

^ I don't know about that suggestion. It made my Mugen crash every single time. I just finished editting the system files back to the way they were.

You are using WinMugen, right? A few things I've gathered from other posters that may help you...

1. Make sure you have the proper plugins
2. Use .ogg format over .mp3
3. Use Dos2Win if your characters need sprite cleaning
4. Save memory (through the config file and system file)

Ok, so I managed to get mp3's to work properly by deleting the mp3 plugin that came with the pack and installing mp3_pro.dll. With that said, however, I have some totally new questions now!

1. What are some good ways to reduce Mugen memory use? I ask because I desire less crashing, and I don't mind if it has to load slower or anything like that.

2. How do I convert mp3 to ogg? I installed the ogg plugin but I noticed that on stages with .ogg files, the music didn't play.

Ok, so I downloaded the in_mp3pro.dll plugin, and I copied it into he folder. Now, how do I activate it? Apologies for being a pest and even creating another topic, but all I need is to get mp3's to work and I'll finally have the Mugen I've always wanted.

EDIT: Also, what is the .ogg format all about? How would I get that to work?
