Actually, they could possibly work as well.
At least it's not a PNG with alpha channels. I just hope that it wont clash with the rest of the sprites, if I add it.

I love it, they are simplistic, yet not dull. The little details added is a nice touch!

Anyways, just leaving a little feedback:

- startx position should be same as the starty, so does the p1startx and p2startx. In this case the more appropriate value for startx is 0, p1startx is -70 and p2startx is 70. However, this is optional, you can make them facing more close to each other by reducing the number (example: -50,50) and vice-versa by inducing the number (example: -100,100).
