It's kind of rude to nitpick on AI, most creators want to focus on how the character plays rather than how a computer can make it fight. It would be a courtesy to refrain from asking about it unless its specified in the OP for the future

I wouldnt consider AI an important part of gameplay lol. Gameplay (in MUGEN terms) really deals with how the character plays in human hands. AI can do impossible things. The others do concern gameplay but Zim's specials are awful. One of his lasers is an infinite and the other one sticks the opponent in a stunned state for an ungodly amount of time. Really broken.
So I would say Ricepigeon's assessment is correct, you are valuing how the character looks in action over how he plays.

how do characters with misaligned sprites and sparks, nothing close to mvc style, terrible clsn placement, and a bunch of infinites qualify for a good character, id legitimately like to hear your underrated opinion on this

What are your opinions about MUGEN creators, characters, the engine itself, or even the coding that you feel that no one agrees with?
For me:
- I hate those MLP Online sprite pony characters that rely on video game references to fight with a passion. One of the worst character types I have ever seen.
Not really underrated, more like nonissue.

- Sprites don't matter a lot to me. Gameplay does.

There's a lot of problems with it.

there are tons of walkjab infinites, lots of broken code, and the characters are usually misaligned. a template isnt something you just slap sprites and attacks on and call it a day. changes must be made to accommodate the character.

i got a watch, underwear, bath sandals and a robe, some cash, the divintiy collection on steam, an old pc-rom game called "Will Rock," and an Avengers/JLA crossover comic book. theres more to come but i am satisified

If you upscale the template and every standard characters' sprites and rescale the portraits to a half in the system.def, you could use oversized/hires characters without losing sprite quality.
there actually is no template, or at least not that I know of, i did some guesswork with the alignment to get em right.
it would rock if one existed.
