Hi Guys.

Long story short. I wasn't able to finish this POTS style Gen because I was too Busy with work and with gaming (Cause I had a lot of upgrades in my PC). So after a long time of just sitting in a folder, I'm sharing this character to you guys. You can use whatever you want with this WIP character just don't forget to credit me.

BTW, this character is far from complete and has Jmorphman's Guile all over it.

I hope this becomes useful to anyone.

I would add a few intros and winposes commenting on his disease, maybe having him cough a bit, or have him in his dizzy animation at the end of the match.

And bad notice that you not separated color of Gen  :-\ , I guess I'll have to separate the color of your Gen, but later, first I need to finish my chars.

varo_hades' running sprites don't look too bad, but they're pretty basic, as the top part is completely static. Some clothes motion would be nice here.
And did you sprite that, or was it taken from Fido's version or something ?


I've already got these running sprites and as what cybaster said, does look basic. Maybe I'll edit them if I got the time and I'll still use'em anyway. Thanks.

And oh, it'll be great if you would color separate Gen. That will be a great help

I would maybe suggest a new move as a sort of special throw, where he would perform a multi hit hand poke at close range, it would hit for no damage but then the opponent would seize up and freeze once in 20 seconds or so.
Hmm, I dunno, Gen already has a lot of tools, I don't think a new move is needed. Also,

Buuuuuuuut... it seems odd to me for him to only have one non-level 3 super per style. There are the two other supers from the Alpha series, but they're both derivative of the level 3's (or rather, the level 3's are derivative of them, but whatever). Plus, Kouga is pretty useless. And while Shitenshuu whole timer gimmick is cool, implementing it may pose problems (or not, I dunno, not familiar with poison type moves).

So maybe original supers would be better. If you'd want to implement them, of course.

I agree with you. Gen has a lot of tools already and I guess it doesn't suit him to grapple anyway.

I also think one level 1, 2, 3 supers per stance is enough, that way you could utilize both stance and rely on changing stance consistently. Although will be hard but that's what Gen is.

It's only a problem if you want to continuously drain life without the opponent going in a custom state.
If it's just about creating a helper and kill P2 after a certain delay, this doesn't sound complicated at all.
It's both. Every so often P2 turns red and takes damage, and a little number counter appears over their head each time it happens. When it hits zero, they get dizzied. If they hit Gen before it hits zero, they escape the countdown. It's pretty neat, and it'd be nice to include some version of it within Gen, IMO.

If it's really that complicated then I'll take it as a challenge. I'll figure something out and If I don't then *shrugs*

Hey Guys!
As you all may have known or don't. I'm making my first character, which is POTS/Jmorphman style. Gen
I haven't made much progress since the last video I made as a teaser for Gen. I've been busy at work and
can't find the motivation to do more for this character but I will try finish Gen as soon as I can.

The motivations I need are those who can help me with Gen to be much more better.
I'm currently a coder right now since that's the most productive thing I can do in so little time I have per day.
I'll be listing the help I'll need on a section bellow and I hope You could help me.

Anywaysss... here's what I had in mind and will implement for this Gen

"Few things are more deadly than a fighter who no longer fears death, and that is what describes Gen perfectly. Struck with an illness that will claim his life eventually, Gen now is determined to die the way he believes he was meant to die: in a glorious battle to the death with a worthy opponent. This makes Akuma, a master of the killing intent, a natural rival for Gen. They have fought once before, and Gen is said to be the only one to survive the Shun Goku Satsu. But Gen now seeks Akuma once again for the ultimate battle during which he hopes he can pass in the glory of the fight." -Wiki.Shoryuken.Com


All POTS/Jmorphman style basics:

-Dash (Still thinking whether to add Run or not)

-Ex Moves
-Level 1, 2, 3 Supers
-Others?


Gen's essential stuffs
-Intros, Taunt, Winposes
 -There's only 3 (more or less) that exist in my sff. file, right now.
-Special Intro against my edit of POTS' Gouki.
 -Since there are only few poses for Gen, I think that'll be the only special intro for him.
 -And I don't think he should get a special intro against Shin Gouki since Shin Gouki is a boss character.
-All essential normal, special, and super moves from the SFZ and SSF4
 -I haven't played SF1 so I don't know what I moves I could get from that and even if there is, I'm not willing to add them.
-Will add (Not yet final) another mode where you won't need to change stance but will have to restrict some moves from being performed. This is inspired from SFZ3's Gen in Z-ism
-I'll not elaborate the second mode yet since I'm not even half-way through the default mode
-Street fighter 4 voice. Don't know if I'll use his SFZ voice.

Some details on Gen's gameplay. If you'd rather wait for the release of this character and explore him yourself then skip this part.

Things I need help in

Essential Sprites (Missing)

-Cheese Kill
-Diagup fall animation
-Forward Dash

And if anybody likes to add new sprites and color for Gen:

-New intros or winposes
-Visual Effects
-Shitenketsu
-Oga Dive kicks
-Zetsuei (can be like the Zan'ei sprites but only fades. Like POTS' Guy's Kage Shissou)
-New air medium punch
-New Crouching medium punch (Crane)
-Others you may want

Just a downside. I won't do a color seperation for Gen but will welcome anybody who would and if not I would like you guys to offer me some palettes for Gen right after I finish his final color palette.

And if you guys wants to add more Level 3 super BG for Gen like what Knuckles4438 did (Thanks Knuckles). You're always welcome to share it.

Progress is I think 40% (More or Less)
 -I've got all normal, special, and level 1 super moves coded and done

I'll post a public beta or another preview video someday this month when I'm not that busy.

Just to wrap this up, I'd like to thank the people who helped me with improving my edits of POTS's Ryu and Shin Gouki. (Too Sleepy to list them)
and I hope they'll help me with this one to. And also to those who likes to help me improve my first character and to you guys who read this whole post :D

Great AI patches!! I can't easily beat'em anymore and you made them fun to fight with.

Just some things I have to point out
 -Evil Ryu doesn't use Ryusokyaku (Axe Kick) anymore.
 -They are parry happy (Okay, not that much). Especially when airborne. Ryu parries all hits of Ryukoku Hadoken.
 -AI are great, but can I ask for more combos from them? I mean Evil Ryu can do Shoryuken after a LK tatsumaki. Or Axe kick combos. Juggle after Air MP, or any other combos that doesn't consist of supers. Because I see Ryu performing hadoken most of the time.

Just saying. This is just me asking for more. Anyway, Thank You for sharing. I like 'em

Also, I'm not sure if you can do this, but seeing as you have Akuma on your side, perhaps you can give Gen and Akuma this special intro.

Don't mind me using those, because that is definitely awesome and a great help to my Gen.

The special intro is already considered to be part of this Gen from the start. Who wouldn't want to see that.

And one 4 Ryu Master mode, because i think Gen is in Street fighter 1!!!

I really have no idea they had a special intro. Though because it's SF1 which I haven't played yet.

New updates for 2013, check the demon flip stuff added, you may want to see about adding these if you're up to it ... they make him a little more demon-flip combo heavy haha :-)

This is not MVC3 Akuma.  Akuma does not need fireball after demon flip, nor does he need OTG beam zankuu hadoukens or an SGS that goes through fireballs.  Leave Akuma's moveset the hell alone please.

Yeah that explains it. I really thought about those far back in the process of editing these characters but decided against it because it kinda ruins him IMO.

But you can cancel Ex Demon Flip to Ex Zankuu hadoken. But only on the start of the move (Normal Mode only, See combo vid)

Also... I have a kinda dumb question... How do you get rid of the CPU defense boost on his Shin mode?

I guess you can't without affecting the Player's (Non-AI). You can set both of them to the same defense by removing these in the -2 states

I think that the only move(s) mwryly can add without "breaking" the char is team supers,
with Evil Ryu like a simple "double messatsu gou shoryu" or "double messatsu gou hadou" or even a "double shun goku satsu" :idea2:
and before someone tell "you are crazy, this gonna "fuck" the char",mwryly always can add a opition in config.txt!!! ;)

Yes, I really like that idea. I'll add that up but I still don't know when that'll be. To make things simple, I guess I'd go for Double MGH or Shinku hadoken and Tenma Gou Zankuu at the same time. But let me just finish Gen before I get to those.

I don't recall Ryu and Akuma ever having a special intro with each other outside of Akuma's rival battle in SF4 and the special dialougue with each other in MvC3.

Me neither. But heck, an intro at least as simple as just tying a belt can be a good addition.

Good, system, normal attacks, done. And special attacks are almost done. Missing a few sprites. I'll post on the project section about my whole plan and progress for Gen. And I might release a public beta for those who are looking forward on trying him out. Once I've finish the lvl 1 supers which is not soon. :P

Thanks for the complement. But I can't add anymore moves for both characters. I know adding those would make them even more badass but these characters have too much moves already. And adding more move would ruin a characters in some way. And I'm not saying that It'll be hard but I'm just saying it'll be too much If I follow those. Oh, and I might take your idea for an intro for Ryu and Gouki.

I'm currently focusing on making Gen. So I may not touch these characters for a while. Thanks for the comment and ideas, anyway. Might use 'em in the future.

I never really liked backward rolls, that's why I never added them before. But since (mostly) all POTS style characters have 'em, I think I'll add 'em. But that smiley is on the way, lol. And I don't know when will I update again. Anyway, Thank you, sir, for the codes.

As sad as I am for Ibuki falling off the list, I voted Gen.  In all honesty, isn't Gen a little confusing too, what with his two styles and what not?

I'm mostly familiar with Gen's moves and not with Ibuki's that's why I find her confusing. That's what I should've said at first.

What a surprise that most voted for Gen. Thanks for all the vote. I'll get him started in a few days.

My Idea for Gen is to also have two modes. One as Normal. The other as SFA3 X-ism where you don't need to change stance. Just a little insight from what you guys are getting.

Sagat can move right before the match starts. He can also recover just before he hits the ground like he seems to skip the lie down state. And is it just me or they (all patched char) can move/break out of a hitstate?

Annoyingly strong but are really great AI patches. Good work :D

To tell you guys honestly, I find it harder to create a character than to edit (Seems obvious). But I will start working on them. And I would start with something simple. Just a stepping stone for the bigger or much more complicated characters like Gen. I also want to say that I am a beginner in making characters so don't overestimate me much but I will try to make my characters as good as what I want which is perfect. :P Hmmm..  I think the poll is no longer needed, though I still want to see what others think. For editing Iori (and etc), (Hate me for this :P) I'm not familiar of any fighting strategies, storyline, gameplay, movelist, techs, or whatever other than street fighter. I just knew other fighters outside of SF because of mugen. So... *shrug*

Pardon me being late here...

But your Ryu and Gouki are pretty nice edits. My only real gripe with Ryu is his AI. I think one thing that would help it a lot. Is him being less reckless. He seems to either run into supers. Or using Shoryuken while the foe knocked down. Thus he wiffs his move. Otherwise, he seems to play fine.

Gouki is really interesting. Finally having a balanced version of him in P.O.T.S style. Though I do have one question... Is Shin Gouki mode still meant to be a boss type? Or is he just a glass canon? I pitted him against the WinMugen version of P.O.T.S' Shin Gouki (since I feel that one has a better AI then the 1.0 version). And he lost.

And he lost to Jmorphman's Ken.

Anyway. Interesting stuff. I look forward to future characters.


Yes, I do notice that. If I know everything about AI, I would do something more than what you said. That's all I can do for the AI.
Like what C.A.N said, Shin Gouki is kind of a mild boss. Due to my lack of my AI knowledge and a fact that his defense is lower when used by non-AI players (forgot to mention in readme)

And I would definitely go for Gen if anyone would let me have additional sprites for him (really dislike SFA3 sprites) like his SF4 ultra 2 mantis style and also ultra moves FX unless copying the ultras of fido's Gen is legal. :P

I just pulled off the far SK > SGS. It is possible but hard. Anyway, I won't add that anymore in the next update and just leave it to SF3 Akumas.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that in some of the combo videos in youtube. Care to explain why is that possible if SGS isn't able to combo off of other normal moves? :|

And does anyone have some old existing palettes for these characters? New ones would be great but any old palettes would do it. I'll include them on the next update.

For the "comboing" into SGS, it's possible in SF3 only through Kara cancelling, so it's not like it was an obvious combo you can do from wherever.

You could always start working on him. I still have other characters in mind.
