 Hmm, I think I've figured part of the problem may be that the character whose super armor that I'm testing it may also not be very well coded. I've tried the solutions suggested here and they work fine on other super armor characters, but this particular character makes the lv3 problem persist no matter what.

 The closest alternative I can think of is using a trigger that detects that the opponent failed to be put into custom state and have the lv3's initial hit loop back into itself until it breaks the super armor or its variable count expires.

 It kinda gives it a messy look, but I suppose it's better than the custom state failing altogether. Maybe there are better suggestions than what I'm going for.

 Has putting a "forcestand = 1" in every hitdef of that move where you want the opponent to remain standing and just adding a relatively long hitstun time on the last hit worked?

 Question as asked in the tin. It's been a problem that has plagued me while I've been working on my current MUGEN project since her lv3 is supposed to put the target into a custom state via targetstate with a movehit trigger. It works perfectly fine on characters without super armor, but characters who do have it, well... the entire attack sequence goes through, but the target doesn't go into the custom state assigned by the move.

 If there is no viable way to bypass super armor, I'd at least be content with an alternative where the move failed, but not sure what reliable triggers would be needed to detect super armor to avoid playing the remaining attack sequence otherwise.

Actually, never mind about the failsafe alternative, just found one that could work.

 However, the "bypass super armor" question still stands.

 I am sure a fighting game where character variety in competitive play doesn't exist because only six characters are relevant would suggest a serious problem with roster balance. At least Vanilla MvC3 had a fair bit more variety when I've watched competitive matches and the variety got slightly better in UMvC3.

 Could have sworn MvC2 is more busted than even Vanilla MvC3, what with the worse gaps in tiers and infinites galore...

you know. this version of sayaka is lookin' cool, was there an author that were related the the sprites you use for her?

 The original sprites were made by Otz-Kai himself, I'm just using them as a basis for my version. Obviously, I plan to credit him for them because it's hard to find a competent sprite artist.

 Despite having only 7 months of experience with MUGEN at the time this topic is first posted, I've decided to start my own character project roughly late May after expressing interest from tinkering with pre-existing characters in my MUGEN roster. While this character takes Otz-Kai's Sayaka Miki as a basis for most of her sprites, sounds and gameplay concepts, she is otherwise built from the ground up tailored to my own idea for a custom gameplay style. She's currently in late alpha stage as of this post date, but she'll likely be ready for beta in a month or two as she'll need a bit of cleaning and fixing before then.
